261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Moolah Scam on Mintpal - Reporting Missing Coins on: June 11, 2015, 01:25:11 PM
OK i'll go first...

Still missing 8 BTC.  Likely to be cold-stored on a rusty USB stick stuffed in the pocket of a bearded Ryan Kennedy sitting in a cave in Cambodia and down to his last pack of instant noodles, wondering how he can convert my BTC to USD to get the plastic surgery he desperately needs to not get knee-capped by the Russian mob, i hope.

He's too busy buying porches and working on Chelsea's car to be hanging out in Cambodia (screen captured from his FB profile today, but page has changed in last few days to eliminate some "car" transactions and deliveries):

https://imgur.com/a/RkBGe

Note how active Chelsea is on his profile.

Also, his FB profile recently changed back to ryan kennedy from ryan vonduckington.  "Ducks" (either the word or pictures (e.g., rubber duckies, drawings, etc.) started appearing on various accounts during his getaway - possibly communicating w/ his crew to duck and cover.

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004317376905

https://www.facebook.com/chelseaeleanorhopkins

https://www.facebook.com/retrofocusUK  (more cars; RK has "liked" a few posts on this page run by chelsea)

https://imgur.com/sf2OtDA (now he's in car and delivery business, but what is a "car"?  This is a screenshot of one his posts that has been scrubbed recently)

UPDATE: Since making this post, the visibility of RK's FB account has been limited to friends/certain users.  He's still lurking here (or posting under an alt account), shocker.

262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 08, 2015, 08:34:53 PM
I've been working with my new offline project during the weekend so I have not been able to follow the markets that well.
Now as I came back online I noticed a big part of my bitcoins have been returned me, still some people are in long positions.
Short position lending I used to have a few thousand coins at the peak (which was lame since my rates were usually the best ones as I wanted to employ my coins), now only less than 50 XMR are in short positions (I have cancelled the auto-renew function in all my lending activities).

Just an observation....  Wink

-----

BTW, what happened on weekend? I saw a huge peak on volumes.... What's the story behind that?

1. Big Wall Man says "DUMP!"
2. People dump!
3. Wall no more. Sad
4. Big Wall Man puts up even bigger wall!
5. Big Wall Man says "ahahahaha!"
6. End.

Quick distraction: This is one of the best crypto-trading analyses and info-posts in my 2+ years trading (short, sweet, and cuts through the crap to the bottom line); it is THE BEST such post pound-for-pound considering its only 6 lines.

Seriously, for the noobs, lots and lots of traders are just lemmings (not be confused w/ the bots). Such an environment makes looking at trends difficult.

2A. Big Wall Man says, "Big surprise when Wall no more."

Yep.

can anyone recommend another site than bitcoinwisdom? its just completely broken, i have to stop using it.
orderbook is broken for a long time. now the volume bars seem to be broken too.

just compare monero chart 30min with the 15min chart. there is a huge 60k volume candle that never happend on the 30min chart.

what else is broken? i wonder how many bad trades allready happend because of this

I use https://cryptrader.com for price tracking.  Haven't tried using their trading api features.

Carlos got his court date set if anyone wants to go and say hi. Using the court appointed public defender, hard times for former high-rolling Ganza's.  Cry

Just found this from the original Brattleboro PD Faceboook page notification of Carlos' DUI:

Nice.  Also, i found this interesting: Attorney Ammons appears to be a public defender - http://vermont.salarydatabase.com/state-employees/2014/richard-f-ammons-jr/
266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IBM is using Ethereum as the blockchain for their ADEPT proof-of-concept on: April 28, 2015, 09:55:01 PM
Meh, who cares - experimentation is good.

We know that other big players are using Bitcoin or inventing platforms that embrace it.  For example, Alcatel Lucent (Bell Labs) published a patent application not long ago that claims an electronic transfer system that explicitly embraces bitcoin, but not exclusively:

Quote
The present invention provides in an embodiment a method and apparatus for use in a decentralized electronic currency system that solves the usability issue with the above solution to key management, while also providing a generic mechanism for reducing the risk of loss of funds, i.e. any amount of currency the user may have accumulated as a result of past transactions. The method is based on the use of two electronic devices, a first 'safe' one, which is to be stored carefully and possibly regularly backed up, and a second 'unsafe' one, which is suitable to be installed on portable devices and used for payments in mobility context. Bitcoin is a decentralized electronic currency system using peer-to-peer networking, digital signatures and cryptographic proof-of-work to enable irreversible transfers (payments) between parties without relying on trust. Payments are made in bitcoins, a digital currency issued and transferred by the Bitcoin network. Nodes broadcast transactions to the network, which records them in a public history after validating them through a consensus-based proof-of-work system. The present invention is not limited to Bitcoin, and is applicable in other decentralized electronic systems where transfers are made.

For a correct understanding of the invention, hereafter some terms are defined. A repository is a physical or digital holder of funds. A digital holder of funds is an object or address to which funds are assigned or linked. In Bitcoin, funds are assigned to public-private keys. Therefore in the description of the present invention, each public-private key is a repository since funds can be assigned to such key.

Wasn't that piece of shit also representing Bitcoin and the Bitcoin foundation? Hang him.

No, that was a different one. Brian Klein of Baker Marquart.

http://www.bakermarquart.com/attorneys/brian_klein

Edit: Example of his work.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/248372603

Ok he needs to be executed

This letter cracks me up every time I read it.  What and who is the "Writer" that is mentioned in the letterhead?  Do they mean attorney's phone number and "internet address" (whatever that is) instead of "Writer"?  Klein never once said he was an attorney or represented GAW (he just said his "Firm," which a lot of attorneys do - so not a huge deal).  Since he is an attorney, perhaps he was trying to get some distance from GAW from the get-go.  Why not actually sign it before sending instead of using the e signature allowed Courts that authorize e-filing?  Sort of irrelevant, but amusing to me nonetheless.

Final note: One problem with crypto-communities is free-riding and people being too afraid, shy, cheap, or ignorant to get off the computer and go talk with a professional or law enforcement officer face-to-face.  People must be their own best advocates, which is not something that's done by most of the kids here.  IRL is not google hangouts, reddit, bct, hashtalk, etc - and Garza knows that (although he's his own worst enemy in that regard). So, if you're going to go after him - get more clandestine, get off the computer, and do not advertise what you're up to - just do it.

This isn't the 80's.  The alphabet soup does not require leaving the comfort of your computer.

270  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW / Josh Garza discussion. Paycoin XPY CoinStand Mineral. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :) on: April 23, 2015, 01:00:39 AM
Quite possibly the funniest thing about all of this is that Josh honestly doesn't understand the severity of the crimes he has committed. He seems to think this is just a terminology issue or PR or marketing or something. Homero just doesn't realize how fucked he really is.

Then again, what do you expect from a high school dropout whose only skill is social engineering?  Cheesy

Oh he fucking understands. He is not going to be be able to plead stupid. He has been caught committing fraud and being told he was not doing thing legally. The stupid defense will not save this fucktard.

I tihnk you are both wrong.  From reading his emails, I would bet you 10-1 odds he will proclaim his innocence and lay the blame on others (Joe, Eric, the accountant whose name I keep forgetting, Jonah, Adam from the Church, hell maybe even Jessica, etc.).  He has already laid the groundwork in the emails if you read carefully between the lines.  He will say that he told Joe or Eric to spec out the data center large enough to support all the hashpower needed; he will say that he was shocked when he discovered that some hash power was "virtual" and that was why he initiated the 5 Phs order with Bitmain; former employees were robbing him, taking out BTC for phony cash advances; Stuart will have lied to him about Cantor's valuation and support for the coin; etc etc.

If any of you think that convicting Garza will be easy, think again.  There are some smoking gun emails, but nothing that he can't explain away and/or blame on others.  Of course, the feds have access to stuff we don't so they may be able to trace BTC to wallets controlled by Garza or have other evidence that is damning .. but from what I have seen a conviction (beyond a reasonable doubt) is not a certainty yet.. and the credibility of testimony from his former employees and cohorts will be critical.

Exactly! There are many, many, many boxes that must be checked to win a case against GAW.  Rules of Evidence, Rules of Civil Pro, etc. will are great little tools for excluding evidence or otherwise deploying obstacles designed to make proving a case extremely difficult.

[rest of post is general rant, not in response to eightcylinders]

Frankly, I'm not convinced GAW is more than a petty wannabe scammy business run by a wannabe high finance guy without any education and experience when it comes finance, economics, and business generally (I have a hunch Stu made JG a project following 9/11 or otherwise feels guilty or obligated about something).  Consequently, I'm not sure that the feds will waste a ton of time on time on GAW beyond sending out a few subpoenas.  I recommend that people go take a look at the SEC litigation releases, alj orders, FBI/DOJ press releases, etc.; its quite clear that such agencies will sit and investigate/monitor folks -including the worst of the worst - for years before making an arrest or commencing some sort of formal action. So, I don't think anything criminal or administrative is imminent whatsoever.

Surely you guys already figured this out... but sharing anyway for posterity. cross posting from GH...

In reference to GH user Processor,

Unless someone can vouch for this guy or otherwise produce evidence of the true motivation here, I'd advise not inputting any information into the website located at gawlawsuit[dot]com

This has shady written all over it and sounds like a reconnaissance mission to me.

Spread the word guys. As much as I'd like to see a collaborated effort, one scam won't end another. (example: ZenCloud converting over to PayBase)

Anyone interested in something like this should be talking to @Allen1980s. He's a trusted member of the community and already has the ball rolling with a lot of fire power.

N.B. Allen1980s posts mainly at the GetHashing Forum. His username here is Allens1980. Information on the potential lawsuit can be read at Probing a Lawsuit Against GAWminers et al.

Basically who ever is running that website ( gawlawsuit[dot]com ) is not being advised by an attorney, just one look at the form they're asking you to fill out shows that is someone with an ax to grind (no shortage of them), but not someone working with an attorney. Anyone who gives them info is likely to just end up with an emotional leech to deal with --or worse.

First sentence seems reasonable,  no comment on the second as far as what's likely or not.

I don't do class actions, but I do a lot of commercial litigation.  If I had a client interested in suing GAW (and I don't, this isn't legal advice and none of you are my clients), I would shy away from a class action to start. If a class action made the most sense, and knowing that there are a lot of technical requirements that must be met to create and certify a class, I would be in charge of the public notices about the suit and they certainly would contain my contact info and have a link to my firm's website.  Public postings might interfere with the ability to certify the class (haven't researched that specifically) or otherwise result in evidence I wouldn't want out there (client would sure as hell get a tongue lashing for boneheadedness and lack of strategery if they posted that link).  Food for thought from someone who fights w/ people for a living.
272  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW / Josh Garza discussion. Paycoin XPY CoinStand Mineral. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :) on: April 22, 2015, 08:15:12 PM
Based on the amount of mistakes in that complaint, GAW may have a chance at winning this suit unless the power company changes attorneys.  First sentence of the complaint contains a glaring mistake (Comes now Defendant . . . and files this complaint against Defendant).  Also, federal courts use case numbers, not cause numbers. I pulled the case up on Pacer - why is the power company's counsel filing entries of appearances almost a week after filing the complaint when complaints themselves are entries of appearance for plaintiffs represented by counsel?

BTW, for those are interested, no Answer or Motion to Dismiss has been filed by GAW as of this morning.  Its not clear whether there has been service yet as no affidavit of service has been filed either.  I could imagine the power company having not served the complaint yet, especially if they're worried about a discharge via bankruptcy or something.

IANAL, but I know more than I would like to admit.  Typos in filings happen frequently, and they are either amended or (more likely) the mistakes aren't even bothered with.  These little things will have no bearing on the suit.

Legal documents that do require more proof reading are mineral rights and land titles, for obvious reasons.

Totally.  See my previous post in this thread.  Was going for some levity.

Thank goodness there's always a technicality to help keep fraudsters from having to pay what they rightfully owe.

To be clear, I wouldn't call a typo or any other error I pointed out a fatal flaw with the the Power Company's claim.  Just trying to be a silly w/ a pretty serious situation that no doubt burned a lot people.  I do expect that complaints filed in a Federal District Court - even in those Fed Courts located in fly-over states - and drafted by experienced firms and lawyers (especially when Plaintiff has three attorneys mentioned on the Complaint) to be near perfect in form and not have the location of the court wrong (it was marked through and replaced w/ interlineation), have the name of the case number wrong (its not a "cause" number), or contain sloppy typos calling yourself the Defendant when you're the Plaintiff.

I can tell you with 100% positivity, no. Ask me about the same day next year, and you might have a different answer.  Cheesy Cool

Do you realise that there are and will be far fewer DOGED than DOGE?

My thinking exactly!
Did you realize the date he posted is in the past? lol Cheesy
It's probably because he's from Europe. 1/6/15 in Europe is 6/1/15 in the US.

As someone in the power industry... I know how a business gets a specilized feed into a building/warehouse/etc... You need to tell them how much you want... i.e. 100A @ 4160kV and specify load requirements during peak/off-peak so that they can figure out what size transformer you need.

Only way to do that, outside of pulling a number out of your ass, is to calculate it...

Joe signed for the feed... so he told them how much electricity he needed.

My question for him: Were you told how much power you needed or did YOU choose the transformer size?

And my next question is... when the feed was run, who oversaw the installation of the panel(s) and the wiring to the miners/racks? I would assume it would be the Chief Technical Officer...

In other words... I find it very hard to believe that you didn't know what was truly going on.

Feel free to answer here or at GH.  I'm really curious to the answer since you're being so forthcoming...

To answer your question directly, I was told in the beginning to scope and build the project for 10MW. I was then shortly after instructed to build for 3MW (3 1000kva transformers).

I was told that we needed 3MW to facilitate the 4.5PH purchase of S4's from Bitmain so that is what I proceeded to build.

I gave weekly reports of how much BTC the facility earned per day and gave daily/weekly reports on the total zencloud payouts.

There was a point in time where the payouts exceeded the BTC mined in the facility (as you can probably see from my reports in the emails) but the conversions to CashTakers HashStakers (I believe) brought the liability back down and then the whole platform and facility was shut down a couple of days after my exit.

Yes I was aware there was a problem with the business model, the direction of the company, and the way these decisions were being handled. I hoped we were going to make the necessary changes and decisions to rectify the situation in enough time to **fix** the flawed business models, but chose to exit when I lost confidence and trust in Josh to make the right decisions.

S4 = 2TH. 1PH = 1,000 TH.  4500/2 = 2250 units.

1 S4 = .69W/Ghs. 4,500,000 * .69 = 3105000W = 3.105MW @ 120V.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/261401676/Mississippi-Power-Company-vs-GAW-Miners-LLC#scribd

700MW used from Dec 31 - Jan 23.  23 Days. 1.27MW per day usage.

Hahaha the fucking incompetency of using 120v

Enjoy jail Joe
