I think we should quote the famous "Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion" thread for all of our facts because its 25 million gazillion pages long
and is filled with lots of very smart people who know lots of cool stuff about bitcoin...

Why start talking about bitcoin now?

The President is using this moment to do the work of a Russian sponsored botnet.

What a joke

Haha are you going to quote MSNBC for your next “fact”?

This graph is staggering:

I'm not a commie, but there's no way we can have any semblance of stability on any level with this kind of inequality.

Goldman Sachs is asshoe!

Anyway, I think their anti-BTC presentation was them talking their book. They're probably still trying to load up on BTC at the tail end of this accumulation period.

Nobody cares how fast she is.  Undecided

Alright I am annoyed and saddened and really fucking tired. Also down to just one merit, but I will give it to the best youngster, newbie or kid who can write a decent - short will do fine - riposte to the kindergarten shit that is happening over here:

Of course I have sympathy for our fallen ex-member mindrust who has gone back 5 years in his understanding of bitcoin, but please do your best to put cobra at least in his place, the beginners and help section.

Meh. Cobra just being edgy for the sake of presenting some edge. As is their wont.

When's the last time you honestly valued their opinions?

JJG should feel honored that they actually read his entire response though.

It was all fun and games until the WO unleashed JJG on Cobra.

And I see must of Cobra's posts there as a waste of space. He's repeating some of the same debunked nonsense that Peter Schiff and Co. have been repeating for years.
269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So it looks like Cobra is planning on passing on the Bitcoin.org domain on: May 26, 2020, 05:45:45 PM
You don't get it. It's not sound money if it can split up in that way, definitely not more sound than gold. You can put all your value in gold and at least be assured that it won't split apart into two competing forms of money. You won't ever need to allocate between two different forms of gold and watch them compete with each other in the free market. Your casual dismissal of Bitcoin breaking into two with a "so fucking what?" shows that you don't really understand why Bitcoin has value in the first place.

With all due respect, it looks like you don't understand why Bitcoin has value in the first place. Bitcoin is the only "crypto" that has unforgeable costliness. Technically, that could change, but game theory says that it won't.

Anyone can create as many chains as they want. I could spray paint clay bricks to look like gold bars. Perhaps I could con some people into buying them. In fact, I could spray paint foam bricks to look like gold bars. Then I could say my new form of gold is more valuable because it's less dense and easier to transport. How would this impugn actual gold?

Segwit2x burned out a lot of people, it was stressful and caused massive amounts of harm and distrust among members of the community. We can't go through that each and every time a faction of the community wants to change Bitcoin in some way.

I also want you to pay attention to your language, because the language we use reveals a lot, you say "And, also not having to resort to something less than overwhelming consensus to get segwit passed", does that not almost sound like a legislative battle, something that would be said about a political process? Replace the word "segwit" with "obamacare" and it sounds like a sentence you would hear to describe something that happened in congress.

You can't just bury your head in the sand and completely ignore how political this stuff is. You do yourself a disservice, presumably you have a lot of money tied up in Bitcoin, just like most of us. So you should really know what you're getting involved with here.

I don't see a problem here. That's the nature of open source software. Have you seen some of the heated arguments from the linux mailing list?

Frankly I see this as one of Bitcoin's greatest strengths. The world's hardest money is democratized. Wasn't that one of the reasons Bitcoin was created? So we could finally have a form of money that wasn't controlled from the top-down by central banks and kings?

Brazils President. A well armed people can't be enslaved by tyrants.
https://twitter.com/i/status/1264263778620911616

thats a simple statement, while almost all simple statements turn out to be false.
Brazil got quite a number of gunshot kills per 100.000 nationals.
Too low for Nutsonaro?

Gunshot kills made by criminals to unarmed citizens who can't defend themselves, That's what he is changing.
If you know that you might get shot yourself if you shoot someone, you just might think twice before you shoot.
If good people have guns, bad people will hesitate to shoot them = fewer gun kills, how is that so hard for the stupid left to understand.

Sir, the underlying problems are lack of education and empathy. Guns only scrape the surface, bullets don't decide between good or bad.
How can guns stop madness? It's not impossible. They never did. The "bad" don't think twice, and there are not many more dangerous things than "good" people with guns. The "good" german people also just only wanted the best for themselves, which they thought (or became taught) is the best for all. And we all know in what a nightmare this was turning. Now, one of the mistakes in understanding is through not having to experience this kind of nightmare, so i just refer to the "lack of empathy" aspect i mentioned earlier, because education can't be the main problem here, don't you agree?
And well, there ARE stupid leftists, as well as stupid rightists. Remember the bell curve? I'd try to be like in the middle in this regards.
Communism is only ever imposed on a disarmed population. This alone is reason enough to never give up the 2nd.

Or...why a certain part of society champions disarming the population...
Yes. Communists are the dysgenic part of the population I mentioned a few posts up. The meme that "communists are not human" is literal truth. And there are more of them than ever before, and next generation there will be even more.

Tangentially, Brazil is looking better and better as a living destination. It's promising to see that Bolsonaro is trying to arm the population. I expect the sky high crime rate to be moderated within a few years, as long as Bolsonaro is still alive.

275  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Bitcoin SV (BSV) - fake team member and plagiarized white paper on: May 25, 2020, 03:59:50 PM
Please just put hv_ on Ignore. I've had him there for a while now; it feels right. We all know what he's going to say well before he does -- no need to bother responding to his simple-minded trollery as he never has anything new to offer.

And the most amazing thing about all of this is - not one BSVtard will be turned.

Craigy could break down their door, sit on their face, mash his phallus and scrotum in their gaping maw as the clinkers rain down shrieking 'I'm a liar. It was all horseshit' and all they'll gasp is '4D chess, dude' and give the thumbs up as his bowels let go.

Why is it that whenever you write something I have to visualize it?

Gentlemand certainly has a way with words.

Look, I can kind of understand why BCH has some support. I think it's stupid, but I can see it.

But why the fuck would anyone continue to think faktoshi and BSV has any validity what-so-ever. He clearly has no idea what he is talking about. He had to plagiarise his phD, despite going to pretty much the worst University in Australia. He has been caught lying 987,392 987,393 times. He is a state loving boot licker. WTF is going on in these people's heads.

BSV is closer to old school, pre-segwit Bitcoin than BCH, aside from blocksize. BSV has an unlimited blocksize, while BCH is limited to 8mb blocks. Out of the two I'd prefer BSV.

There's still scope for stocks to go utterly mentally "up".

In the German Weimar hyperinflation period, an index of German share prices (1913=100) rose from 126 in January 1918 to 531,300,000 in September 1923, and 23,680,000 million in November1923 amidst extremely high volatility.

But in dollar terms, because of the currency depreciation, the same index (1913=100) fell from 101.55 in January 1918 to 2.72 in October 1922, before recovering to 39.36 in November 1923. So, if governments print too much money, and if credit expands dramatically, as has been the norm in the US in recent times, inflation is certainly also possible in peacetime.

Deflation first, then hyperinflation.

Anyone remember that poll we had a while back? Get 3 bitcoins but you can never have more than that, or a tulip farm with a guaranteed income without having to do any work, or marry {this hot chick} and you can never get divorced?

Not one of us chose marry.

Lets do a special pizza day edition of the poll.
