Language is always evolving. Consider my use of 'of' as a mutation.

Alright, by inspiration from a dear friend of mine, I will be attempting to change my sleep schedule once again. Instead of sleeping an entire 8 hours or more at night, I will be taking 20 minute naps every 4 hours exclusively at  2 PM, 6 PM, 10 PM, 2 AM, 6 AM, and 10 AM. This is formally called polyphasic sleep and has other forms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphasic_sleep).
I had a roomate once doing exactly that, after a few days he looked _really_ bad.
It may be a fun thing to try but I'm sure everybody having actually done it wouldn't recommend it (same goes for most doctors I guess).
I am hoping my meditation can get me through this...

I tried that a couple of times. Each time, I lasted about 3 days, but when I lost the ability to read I became bored and quickly fell asleep. If it's possible at all, I think you'd need a team of people to help keep you awake and active during the whole thing.

My favorite mind blowing accomplishment was a mind experiment where I made myself ejaculate by meditation alone.

Why? What made you desire to do this?
264  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Uberman Sleep Schedule and Me on: November 20, 2011, 08:57:40 PM
Yeah, you've reminded me of my previous experience, Theymos. Hm, this is going to be a mental workout. I am going to need to meditate.
265  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Uberman Sleep Schedule and Me on: November 20, 2011, 08:41:53 PM
You won't be able to keep it up. After about 3 days you're goimg to crash for several hours.

The body needs 2-3 hours of REM sleep just to survive.

It's a fun experiment though, I did it too when I was 17.

Willing to take a bet on that?

I've just finished taking my first 20 minute nap after waking up from normal sleep at 10 AM. I managed to make myself fall into a near-REM sleep and it almost feels like the dawn of a new day. I will continue to log my experience of getting into this sleep schedule as more naps pass by in the name of science and to hold me towards this new habit.

I'll log my current status for posterity. Feel free to bet on my failure and success in Bitcoins, whether I'll go into psychosis, etc.

Were you the one that left this note?

17 year olds 1,000 years back were dumb shits. 17 year olds 100 years ago were dumb shits.

17 year olds these days know more than a typical schoolteacher did a few decades back.
Some of them are brighter than most current adults will ever be, thanks to their open attitudes, unlimited access to internet resources etc.

What does it say about the world humans achieved pretty much nothing for millions of years, but went to the moon, and already sending probes to distant planets in such a short timeframe after the 60-70's?

Today's youth? (Let's say 17-30) No contest between the youth 'back in the day'...
Todays youth is actually worth something.
They are starting revolutions all around the world against unjust dictators, finding new cures for diseases, inventing unimaginable technologies, cryptocurrencies, social responsibility programs, resisting Wall Street's authority as God on all worldy issues, discovering unknown planets, while old people try to resist in shock & vain.

So if you're young.. Don't ever be put down by those old farts. Chances are your perception of reality is already at a much higher level than they will ever achieve.
You are already living a life unimaginable ever before in history for someone so young.

Put it to good use, savour the fact you are finally separated from a wild animal only scavenging food to live another day.
Fight your depression and make your reality a better place one piece at a time.

If there ever was a generation of living species deserving eternal life it's yours. And be careful because you might just get what you wish for some day..

17 year olds in the 40's dreamed of going to the moon and did. 17 year olds today can't wait to login to facebook. atlas if i handed you a slide rule could you use it?

After reading the wikipedia page on it, now I can.

I'll be open: I've sampled weed, LSD, alchohol, cigarettes the works yet never has it consumed me. I never become dependent on substances or anything for that matter. The only "destructive behavior" I have experienced thus far are the suicidal thoughts and depression I live with daily and that has only built me. I don't think I am going down this purported path any time soon.

I have yet to see any direct evidence of that.

This is assuming regulations means provisions provided by a government monopoly and not regulations provided without force.

What in fuck's name would a "regulation without force" do or accomplish?

And honestly what the fuck is a "government monopoly", and how do you have no concept of what a Social Contract is and how it works?

Plenty. People pay for what they desire and neglect what they don't. That to me is very effective regulation. It doesn't bend the world to the pompous whims of the few but it certainly caters to the individual.

Anyways, the social contract is not a valid nor a voluntary contract considering all governments over all associations of people will initiate force against anyone who does not wish to enter into such a contract. I believe man is entitled to interact with his fellow man.

Do people still desire government? It seems so.

Do I need or want it? Nope. Can me and the people who desire little to no government get our desires met? Unlikely at this point.

Start seasteading

There are also economic free zones such as Hong Kong and ones that are going to open up in South America. We'll see.

Err, a grocery store not too many miles from the cunt-hole town I live in? Yeah, they like to sell shit that's way past the the expiry date. They on occasion turn their freezers off overnight. You'll frequently buy frozen things that have very obviously been frozen multiple times. Most of their "fresh" produce has the surface texture of a scrotum. One time, someone I know bought a ham, and when they cooked it it smelt like roadkill. This is not a new practice for them, they have done all of these things for many years.

What on earth makes you think the free market will drive them out of business?

Heh, obviously it isn't causing people much of an issue. Certainly not enough to cut their business with them. Why should they be forced to pay for your pompous sensibilities when it comes to food quality? I see no victim. I only see choice. I hold that people know what is best for themselves. I am not their father and neither are you.

I would prefer every shitty chain restaurant and globalist fast-food regime destroyed but it doesn't mean I am entitled to this fantasy. People will eat what they desire and if it happens to be shit, by all means. It's their goddamn right.

What is their response if it poisons and kills them?

This happens every day when the FDA fails to do its job. The response from the FDA is little to nothing.

Anyways, they'll likely have dependents and the grocery store will be found as the source. Word will get around and if the store doesn't shape up, people will stop doing business with it. If people are happy shopping there despite the risk of poisoning, that's their right.

It seems the free-market is already regulating itself by making these berries an issue.

But what if you didn't have an internet forum to correct your knowledge of this product and saw it on store shelves? should you have to go home and research every brand you buy before you get it?

No, I simply buy products from reputable grocery stores that haven't gone out of business from selling bad products.
