I would like that feature.
I think it can help avoid scammers.
A middle solution would be to increase the number of people able to see the ip addresses, like those in deafault trust and not just mods and admins.
Folks,
Once again for N-th time

Nobody will see any ip adress or part of it.
As mentioned above we will see only if a and b  use "same place" to post with certain probability of course.
Thea was my initial idea. Ck sugested geo ip part which does Something same but seems more "intrusive" for most of you
The best will be a simple number like trust next to nick
Something with +1 +2 and so on
For instance +1 means that there is one more account posting from same class c network.
What about it BadBear? That seems to keep the privacy and be a good start?
My initial idea with sql query results was the fastest way without spending time implementing new features and stuff
And when we see newbie with +10 next to nick opening a new thread with a single post saying something like  I bought this and that from there and it works great all will be clear
Or have you heard about this and that advertising scams
263  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: July 26, 2015, 05:20:11 PM
no need to lower the price if people are buying it anyway Wink they would be stupid or something

and worth to mention is there is only 15 days warranty from shipping out on batch7 s5.. so thats probably like week warranty when u get miners Cheesy
So true Wink which leads us to the conclusion that buyers would be so so stupid  Grin

basic economics of supply and demand. If you want to buy a miner, your options are currently quite limited.
It will not last long, though, if prices will go on the upswing.
NOT working (for parts or repair) SP20 has a $406.01 bid right now on ebay with 4 days to go.
I know . And you are right of course. But my life does not depend on it. It is not a life saver medicine. Same applies for sall called "demand". But if demand squeezes bitmain to sale so hard he would not mind to make good money again Grin
264  Other / Meta / Re: Do we have the right to know - to Administrators on: July 26, 2015, 05:02:25 PM
Then what is this board? And what rights do we have? To be anonymous use alts scam people or to be just a chicken shit as sugested above and have alts to express unpopular oppinion and to keep your primary acount clean?
To LET everybody know I am Bulgarian and I do live in Bulgaria. I do not think it is a top secret and threatens me in any way. I am wandering "how same place" translates to disclosing your location. Would you  be so kind to explain please?

266  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 25, 2015, 07:42:19 PM
Nothing unusual dude unfortunately. The common way of doing business with Chinese is:
100% payment in advance
Then wait at least two or three mounts and am dragon, snake or whatever holiday pops up in between
And it is everywhere not only in asic business.,and it is not cheap at the end. They  got our asses and they do whatever they want because every one wants to do business but no one wants to work and produce anything....
And if when your miner comes be prepared for a brutal fight with Chinese web interface as a small bonus for your patience
267  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 25, 2015, 02:49:45 PM
The big handickup with "build from miners for miners" is not that people who build them do not have the skils to do it. Or that there is no R&d department or whatever .. There are plenty of examples of chip, vendors and asic manifacturers who do not know how to solder a wire and to use duct tape properly Grin There were many successful projects in the past (from miners to miners) and I hope in the feature also. The issue is the price of chips alone. Whatever you do you are dependent of the chip price. Let us hope the someday big players will sell chips with reasonable margins. In the past if you calculate chip price alone you got ready to ship miner build from particular manifacturer. Why? Because you pay 300% at least margin for the chip alone. Do not get me wrong but it is not a medicine from which  life depends on. Asic price must fall down in order such projects to succeed. The guys are investing their time they are not making money because of uncompetitive prices no donations from comunity nothing..

Shorena,
You can read my args above. I am not going to discuss this over and over. Unfortunately you and me have a diferent understanding of word rights. Again I do not want to know nothing personal about you and anybody else. I want to know if a and b use same class c network no ip addresses nothing. You call it rights I call it "
SAME UNKNOWN LOCATION IN ANY PART OF THE CLOBE".
And finaly rights come with obligations right? Which comes first the egg or the bird?
In my home country everyone speaks about rights in general but when it comes to obligations NO ONE HAS ANY. That is how democracy works in my country. This forum  reminds me the same we all do have rights for sure without any obligations...
269  Other / Meta / Re: Do we have the right to know - to Administrators on: July 25, 2015, 05:38:58 AM
Majority of us do think this is not right unfortunately. I am not gonna quote every one and to express my ppinion. Sorry foks but I just can not agree and that is all. Once again I want to point out that I am NOT interested in knowing Users ip. The closest idea which will do the job is what CK suggested. But I prefer it to happen automatically for every user on each post except admins and mods. WITHOUT OPTION THIS TO BE DISABLED. As minimum this should be enabled for newbies. how about it?

BADBear?
270  Other / Meta / Re: Do we have right to know - to Administrators on: July 24, 2015, 09:08:08 PM
it seems you didn't consider the fact that other people will use this feature for something bad, OP.
say Scammer A scammed Victim B for a lot of money. Scammer A share an IP with User C and User D who have their personal information available for everyone to see. Victim B, who lost a lot of money and not thinking right, starts to investigate User C and User D.

the above scenario can happen. and it does not only concern those users' privacy.
Common can happen yes it can of course but what is the probability it to happen Wink we have to ask  :   organofcorti probably. That would be extremely big double  with many many zeros In front
But the other way arround happens almost Every day.
BadBear?
271  Other / Meta / Re: Do we have right to know - to Administrators on: July 24, 2015, 08:46:09 PM
Privacy?
........
It is very sad to hear that. What kind of privacy is that?
I do not know who is user A if he lives somwhere at the opposite site of the globe or next to my door. I do NOT wana know his name his home address his credit card number his IP how he looks like, is he married is he happy how many children does he have nothing
Same applies for user B. what I wanna know if A and B are posting from same class c. What privacy are you going to reveal? Excuse me, but I just can not get it  Huh
BadBear?
----------
No. The forum values privacy and revealing information that would potentially allow you to detect alts would not be respecting that privacy. (The same is true for the lesser information you are requesting)
---------
Does,it mean that alts are tolerated because of your understanding of word "Privacy"?
272  Other / Meta / Re: Do we have right to know - to Administrators on: July 24, 2015, 08:39:25 PM
I know very very good all the tricks  Cheesy please save your time.what I know that humans do mistakes and most important most of them are so stupid that they will have to google all of the above to find out what it means
Once again do we have the right to know it or not?
273  Other / Meta / Re: Do we have right to know - to Administrators on: July 24, 2015, 08:26:08 PM
Alts= alternate accounts, or other accounts owned/controlled by you.
Aha so I am asking for simple checks that is all. It is up to US to decide using our heads if those are alts or just coincidence -  NAT proxy or whatever.
I can not agree that it will harm though.
For instance -we have proven scam I am not gona cal names. Then suddenly new thread pops up with newbie account posting you know I saw this and that
What harm can cause a list which CLEARLY SHOWS that proven scammer and newbie are using same clas c without revealing their ip adresss
Second newbie comes and says hey you know I both this from here and it works great. Another one shortly comes and says yeah same here and so on
Just a  list to be published somwhere regulary that is what I am after
274  Other / Meta / Re: Do we have right to know - to Administrators on: July 24, 2015, 08:19:00 PM
Giving you so little information would do way more harm than good. Checking for alts is more involved than just seeing if 2 users shared an IP.
Thank you for your prompt answer. Pleas excuse me but as my English is not my mother language, what does "alts" exactly mean?
Thank you very much in advance .
275  Other / Meta / Do we have the right to know - to Administrators on: July 24, 2015, 06:43:20 PM
Dear admins,
Folowing ck advise from this post
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=854368.msg11961005#msg11961005
I want you to ask the folowing:
Do we have the right to know which accounts do use same ip during posting?
To clarify things I do not want you to publish account ip's.
I want you to publish sorted clas c subnet of people with different accounts
Something like
User a
User b
User c
Are posting from same clas c network segment.

Thank you very much for your prompt answer

Ps: I guess that this effort is nothing more than a simple sql/mysql or watever sql select group join query.
I am particularly interested in last six mounts. I do not mind years back of course

276  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2900 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: July 24, 2015, 05:53:23 PM

277  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BitAffNet] How we're the #1 Bitcoin Mining Pool In The World (or so we thought) on: July 24, 2015, 05:45:28 PM
Con,
First of all I was (and poster above me ) talking in general, not for this particular case
Second I am not blaming/accusing you or anyone else. As I said greed and stupidity are the only ones to be blamed.
Fortunately in my personal oppinion you are not stupid and/or greedy. Sometimes I just wander where are you getting strength to do what you do and how long are you going to do it. Anyway...
I am just getting sick and tired of this shit all over
That is all
there were several times when I requested explanation for my bans and got nothing. Obviously everybody is on his own here which is pretty sad.

Folowing your advise

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1134005.msg11962238#msg11962238

And I am gona ask you to express your personal oppinion there.
Thank you

In short...
You can folow my last posts if you want.
Now I will tell you a joke
Chinese are famous with their small dicks. They just have small ones Wink It is so small that you can not feel while it is sticking in your ass. But all of a sudden your ass starts to hurt. And there is no turning back you are just screwed Smiley

No seriously

If you wana have big mining farm the best approach for me would be to use either solo ckpool or to have a private instance just for you on dedo machine

If you want private server I can setup one for free when time comes

Or you can use either kano or bitminter pools that are my favorites because I trust their ops and ck of corse
....

I am planning to start with 200 Ths at beginning..  so 200 Ths is not good enough for solo mining.  And there's no other rigs manufacturer in market at the moment except Chinese one. So what other options left?
Try bitfury or Spondo
If you do believe in BTC buy btc and wait that is what I will do.
However you are the one to decide
I start mining when btc was about 7 usd
I spent 15 000 usd back then for fpga
So if I bothe btc at 7 usd and sell them on top of the bubble  1000+:'(
Any way you are the one to decide
At the end avalon are CHINESE and are super ok in technical terms. About thir business I have only positive experience but lot of folks here get burned. Do not forget that they are from China also  Wink
Ps have in mind that running big farm such this requires a lot more then will
You will need 7x24 qualified people on your disposal...

Where is the place to debate about stealing and robery? (sic)
Create a thread in Scam Accusations if you feel so strongly about this issue.
No I will patiently wait to be banned.
Thank you for the advise though. I will have in mind how to avoid issues next time Wink
Have a nice day
