Welcome to the crypto space your friend learned a lesson the hard way. Many of us had a similar experience when we started investing in crypto, scam companies are pretty good at promotions ICOs scams, mining scams, e.t.c  Don't feel stupid because of this, you know the saying "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" this is an experience you can learn from
2602  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Think twice before making a post on: August 29, 2021, 10:16:17 PM
Bitcointalk forum is a forum about Bitcoin where discussion and good ideas from members with better understanding about Bitcoin to facilitate the sense of cryptocurrency of new members. As new members of Bitcointalk forum before a post is being made ask some questions like.
Can my post give good ideas to members of the forum and if what is about to be written is necessary in the forum. The benefits of one thinking before making a post in the forum will help in self development which will yield good Ideas that can be helpful to the forum.

If every new members should have a second thought before making a post it will really serve the purpose for which the forum is been created for. Thinking before posting  can kill the mindset of plagiarism which is an offence that the forum do not tolerate. If every new member should always think before making a post it will add value to members .
Good advice newbies are always quick to create threads and leave it idle to spam. I think the major reason for this is the belief that the only way to get merits is to create personal threads, thus we see long threads created by newbies especially in beginners & help

Nigeria just dey one kain, the government don successfully corrupt the mind of the average man on the street. I'm amazed when I see people fighting themselves because they are in opposition parties. Everything is politicised in Nigeria, insecurity in the North is also politicised, government is deliberate taking no action to fight the terrorists that terrorize our nation. Instead they give them new names on TV like hoodlums, bandits, herdsmen, unknown gunmen, and offer amnesty to them.
Btw a different matter altogether I want to inform the house that I am now a senior member. Thank you to every naija rep on the forum we are growing higher.
PS Rruchiman edit your post, the quote isn't right.
2604  Other / Meta / Re: What is your favorite post or most memorable moment on this forum? on: August 28, 2021, 07:14:05 PM
My most memorable moment dates back to when I was a junior member and I got rep by Yahoo62278 for my post quality. Best day ever! That really made me happy because at the time I didn't even know what quality meant in the forum. It just gave me the idea I was doing something right I can't find the thread now, but I will search for it to post here.
Found it New blacklist/Helpful to a site list/Not helpful to a site list
I remember I got into the list of helpful members
2605  Economy / Reputation / Upgrade to Senior member rank - Congratulatory message on: August 28, 2021, 06:52:27 PM

A special thank you to Ratimov for his selfless sevice, giving a helping hand to newbies and those in need of certain merits to rank up. CryptopreneurBrainboss, ddmrddmr, yahoo62278, fillippone I can't mention everyone but thank you. This thread is a note to self and a motivation to fast rising members. I summarized my message in this short note;
In the cold winter of 2020
Gave birth to a Bitcoin baby
Raised by this household
Bitcoin baby learnt to hodl
Alas baby is growing fast
But still needs a helping hand
All the way till he becomes a man

2609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 27, 2021, 10:41:57 PM
An Arsenal fan told me few hours ago that "At this point arsenal need to go and resign Thierry Henry, Patrick Viera, Dennis BergKamp, Robert Pires, Reyes, Van Persie and co because I can't believe what I'm seeing in this 2021 transfer window". I burst out laughing  Grin Manchester United just tipped the odds to their favor, they have the chance to win the league this season. Manchester City has a team to fear in the premiere league.
2610  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 27, 2021, 10:02:53 PM
Manchester United bring back Ronaldo to old Trafford is more like a twist of fate. For the past 5weeks amidst Messi transfer it was rumoured that Cristiano Ronaldo might be heading to PSG or Manchester city, no saw this coming that Man U will swifty swap their legend back to its base where he thrilled EPL fans for years with his amazing qualities and won his first balon dor. With the array of stars at Manchester United coupled with this exciting move of C. Ronaldo to Manchester United, it is evident that EPLL football will be blazing and fun to watch and trust me every Red devil's expect a master class from the team and possibly a long awaited silverware.
2611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 27, 2021, 09:48:51 PM
This is the most sensational transfer this season. Ronaldo is adored by Man United fans worldwide...Ronaldo won 3 premier leagues with Man United. I'm disappointed that Manchester City gave up on signing Christiano Ronaldo. I read Sir Alex Ferguson convinced Christiano Ronaldo to come home to Man united. This power move was very unexpected and is going to give the team a big boost. His presence is enough inspiration for the players. He took Man utd to a different level in the past and will do so again. Wow the EPL just got intense

2613  Other / Meta / Re: My Dream Bitcointalk Forum on: August 27, 2021, 02:16:38 PM
Btw you are not being calm you created this thread hours after Ratimov's thread .
THIS THREAD HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RATIMOV THREAD. I was not even aware of Ratimov thread until @The Pharmacist drew my attention to it through his comment above. Anything that doesn't appear in B/H, Bitcoin Discussion and Meta is always difficult for me to see because I rarely visit other boards for now.
Okay OP, I'm not accusing you of anything. Your point no.4 just seems like you're making a statement concerning the issues raised on that thread.
2614  Other / Meta / Re: My Dream Bitcointalk Forum on: August 27, 2021, 01:03:57 PM
Assuming the forum something like KYC, the issue of trust and trust abuse would have been curtailed. So, the only means to trust is to subject one to series of accusations, some substantial and others not.
However, newcomers need to spend much time here, before they could be trusted. It does not hurt if you are not trusted, but it hurts if the few that tends to trust you begin to distrust you.
There will be no kyc in the forum. Bitcointalk is a decentralized forum. I can't believe you'd suggest a thing like that. Where's the sense in that? A mandatory kyc would expose the identities of people with x wallet addresses
I think the best practice should be to remain calm in the swamp, a saviour might come to rescue you, however if no one comes, there would be a summer and the swamp will dry. But it will take time. Thanks!
What are you thanking him for? Remaining silent when accused may be seen as admission of the crime. I suggest you defend yourself when accused you have nothing to fear.  Btw you are not being calm you created this thread hours after Ratimov's thread . I agree with some of the accounts accused are alts. One I quickly spotted was PastorNick who created a https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?table in his second post after joining the forum two days before. When asked about it, he denied being an alt but here we are.
2615  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My challenge on: August 27, 2021, 11:34:18 AM
The appropriate to ask questions and make research is in Bitcointalk forum. I don't really know much about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies , so sometimes I try to use Google to get some information. But some of this informations in google they mislead novice , this articles poor articles are written by some persons who are trying to fish out some pay through their articles. Because of how do not trust all information in google I get tired of asking google questions. I don't want to be misinformed by shit articles.

There is a search button on the forum. Its right next to the help button. If you can't find it you can simply search information on google and add bitcointalk to it. For example "how to quote a sentence bitcointalk". There are threads about how to search effectively on the forum

2616  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: TOP WAYS TO EARN CRYPTOCURRENCY WITHOUT SPENDING MONEY on: August 27, 2021, 10:02:29 AM

1. Give a Try on Crypto Mining
2. Engage in DeFi Yield Farming
3. Just Shop and get ‘Bitcoin Back’
4. Get Cryptos through Airdrop
5. Earn Cryptocurrency Dividents
6. Get Employed at Cryptocurrency Companies
You're misguided. Read the entire thing again and see if it makes sense. Your points are contradicting the topic, like many newbies you believe one can get Bitcoin for free. That's mentality is like wearing a target on your back saying "I'm here scam me!".  The only way you can get free crypto is 4&6. Be careful of airdrops, some are scams and ask for eth to activate your airdrop. To get a job at cryptocurrency companies one needs to be eligible and capable for the role. That means you need to have experience and knowledge of crypto.

Already our youth don the pick interest in the industry, in every five Nigeria youth, four go don hear about bitcoin and cryptocurency then atleast 3 go dey parole with the market either by investing or trading this na just based on my own observation. You look am na wetin dey rain now, no be crypto?

Although I pity our youth as majority they misinform na e make dem dey run around they do rubbish say dem be crypto enthusiast. With just the right information, everywhere go stew.
Nor be lie, na crypto dey reign for our country because the youths don see say the government nor get them for mind at all. White collar jobs nor dey for common cos oga at the top don keep slot for him children way still dy secondary school. Internet money nai be wetin the youths don see say go fit help them escape sapa. If you really check am well, for the past three years now many Forex companies don come out way they trade for people and Nigerians dey jump into am. Some work out some nor work even some of us way dey hear na through MMM we take know Bitcoin. An average dey ready to work hard to escape poverty na information dey kill us. Na so them go carry one alt for head way nor get market cap dey shill am everywhere say them be investor those people dy hard to convince or teach something.
2618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Accepting bitcoin as payment for my business on: August 27, 2021, 04:56:32 AM
the other thing you do is give people who dont know about crypto, try to learn it though just a little bit, and thats a good for spreading bitcoin. seller must be patient with customer to explain about crypto.
and as what you said before, it can attract customers from crypto as a user, and ordinary as the people who need to know.
Yes I think this new initiative does exactly that, people walk up to me and ask random questions about bitcoin. I have been nicknamed the Bitcoin guy  Grin
But will this be well received by other people? for the acceptance of bitcoins as wages from their business,
I'm not a miner and I accept bitcoin, usdt and eth as payment in my business. Tbh this is an experimental project as nobody in my country has done this before there isn't like a business model to follow. But I believe this will work for me

Do you keep all your earnings in BTC? Or do you convert some half of it to fiat? If you keep it all in BTC, what about the volatility? Have you ever been affected by the volatile market?
I keep 70% of my earnings in crypto. I'm in for the long game, the changes in bitcoin prices doesn't bother me I just want to stack more bitcoins.
What about the confirmation of the transaction? Do you just trust all your customers and allow them to make purchase with zero confirmation?
That's is one of the challenges I face. I wait for at least two confirmation on the blockchain network. Those who are familiar with Bitcoin understand that the network can be congested and slow sometimes, so they prefer the preorder service ( Pay Before Delivery) from the comfort of their home. Also I'm learning about LN, its faster and more efficient once I understand it well enough I will implement it also and encourage my customers to do so

How about taxes?
I don't think I'm supposed to pay taxes for transactions conducted using bitcoins. I will have to discuss this with a professional to make sure I'm not breaking any law. Thank God my country isn't as strict with tax as the UK and other countries

Pigin Proverb: Anyhow e be ogoro must jump
Oh, so na jumb e bi? I bin dey think sey na "Ogoro must drop" oh 🙊. BTW, wetin be "Ogoro" sef?

Ogoro means Frog. Jumping nai be frog mode of locomotion.
Proverb: Na the same walking stick way dey help you waka nai go still break your leg if you nor hold am well
Meaning: Treat everyone and everything with care because even the most harmless thing can become deadly if misused

Is this the game that brings Arsenal back? Not half time yet and Arsenal are winning by three goals, having a though match with Manchester city, Early kick off in Saturday, I think they need some motivation to even come out if the Match against city with a draw. But regardless they have played well so far, I think it's a turn around but they will have to hold it on because on Saturday I think Manchester city would be lenient with them, well it's just only first half so the Gunners still have another 45minutes to continue this or go back to the Arsenal that social medias has been insulting.
Yes I think this is the right motivation the arsenal team needs to get on track. 70 minutes into the game and Arsenal is leading with six goals already,  is this arsenal side on fire or what? They are finally making up for two consecutive loses. What a night to be an Arsenal fan. I hope they can bring the same energy to the premier league. I'm curious to hear what Twitter fans have to say about Mikel Arteta after tonight's game
