2601  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTS $25 amazon claim code for $21 worth of bitcoin on: April 29, 2013, 02:18:40 PM
Actually, there has been several scams in the past where sellers obtained gift codes through stolen credit cards. The codes would obviously work, but after the credit card owner reports fraudulent activity, the code/balance would be revoked from your account.
2602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: If my hard drive crashes... on: April 29, 2013, 02:10:16 PM
if you have it encrypted, just have it backed up at a cloud storage service (like dropbox)
2603  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Building headless Bitcoin and Bitcoin-qt on Windows on: April 29, 2013, 02:08:37 PM
My confusion was when I've compiled stuff using codeblocks I never needed a makefile, but now I see why. I just got my hands on VS12 so eventually I'll have to learn how to use that.
VC++ uses "project" files as well, but they have support for msbuild makefiles. keep in mind that the makefiles included with bitcoin are not msbuild compatible.
2604  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Block size targeting algo based on average propagation times for blocks? on: April 29, 2013, 02:06:44 PM
if you leave it to the miners to decide the orphan rate, they can always game the system to their advantage.
2605  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] Avalon Batch #3 91xx + 93xx on: April 29, 2013, 03:38:31 AM
Simple Question:
I asked if "Accumulate got the Avalon outside the auction ?
sorry, the phrasing of your sentence caused my parsing to fail Sad

as to your question, according to forum time, it's candoo or slakeco.
2606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Blocksize Problem Video on: April 29, 2013, 03:35:21 AM
First of all, and this may seem like a rather extreme opinion, but I think that Gavin Andresen is a liability to bitcoin. If you read in the tehnical forum, you can see MANY complaints about him, his communication, the way he acts and deals with the community. You will notice a general dissatisfaction about Gavin Andresen that has been present for a while. Considering he is currently in full time employment effectively by bitcoin itself, and therefore really has no excuse, this is rather worrying. Is my opinion that his involvement as lead developer with the bitcoin project, an equivalent to CEO, is going to cost investors a lot in the future. For this reason amongst others, I have sold many of my coins already for alternative currencies so I don't not have to worry about the things he and the rest of the bitcoin cartel have in store in the coming months and years.

All I can really add here, as i am not a member of the cartel and just look at things from the point of view of an outside investor: if you believe in the concept of crypto currencies that bitcoin has successfully communicated, but do not want to have to worry about the bitcoin foundation or 'satoshi', this mysterious guy who holds nearly 10% of the coins outstanding, and you do not want to continue to prop up the bank accounts of such individuals as Gavin Andresen and the bitcoin cartel[...]
Ad hominem
2607  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: OpenSell/bn.h on: April 29, 2013, 01:26:05 AM
The Qt is the same, isn't it? except you define the include path in the .pro file. I followed the headless build process and it works fine to build Qt too.
I'm having trouble with building qt. Others seem to having trouble as well, and they had to compile qt separately.
2608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: O Canada! Introducing the MintChip! on: April 29, 2013, 01:05:56 AM
its been discontinued already
lol, I wonder why it failed? I'm guessing security exploits.
2609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: O Canada! Introducing the MintChip! on: April 29, 2013, 01:02:18 AM
Someone needs to start an alt-coin called the mintchip RIGHT NOW.  We need to swamp google search with an alt-coin named MintChip!  What a spoiler and power grab for the alt-coin community.
THIS IS NOT AN ALT-COIN. I REPEAT: NOT AN ALT-COIN

The value is stored on the device itself, and the price is pegged to the canadian dollar. This is closer to a credit card than an alt-coin.
2610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: O Canada! Introducing the MintChip! on: April 29, 2013, 12:57:17 AM
too bad you can double spend if the chip is compromised.
2611  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Building headless Bitcoin and Bitcoin-qt on Windows on: April 29, 2013, 12:19:50 AM
Ignorant, sorry
just edit whatever code you want to edit in your IDE, and follow the steps to compile it. And no, there's no easy 1click compile for windows.
2612  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] Avalon Batch #3 91xx + 93xx on: April 29, 2013, 12:00:03 AM
So Accumulate acquired it via pm? Huh Huh Huh
no one has any idea what you're saying. get a HUMAN to translate for you.
2613  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Building headless Bitcoin and Bitcoin-qt on Windows on: April 28, 2013, 11:50:02 PM
is it possible to do this from codeblocks?
not sure if trolling or just ignorant.
2614  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS]batch1# Avalons want to sell,is anyone insterting? on: April 28, 2013, 11:47:10 PM
Give me a fucking break. This is an obvious SCAM. Dude grabbed an '11 account from the userbase leak a while back. That shit was dormant from June 2011 til last month, and now all of a sudden has has a batch #1 ASIC for sale. Fuck off, dick fuck.

I had mailed to him,And see the avalon running picture. It's true, not scam.
vouch from a 6 post user? seems legit.
2615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: litecoin rig check (4x 7970) on: April 28, 2013, 11:44:54 PM
but kettle for example uses stj like 2000w, wasching machine also sth about 2000w, and my circuit and breaker is fine.
or am I wrong about electricity, if you got sth good to read link it pls.
to be fair, those both use specialized plugs and are on seperate circuits.
2616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: litecoin rig check (4x 7970) on: April 28, 2013, 11:35:49 PM
7970 = rip off. get yourself 7950s and overclock, much better MH/$.

You don't definitely don't need 1500W because 750W is AMD's recommendation for crossfire systems. The difference between 1 card and 2 cards is 250W, so the max each board can draw is 250W. Plus you're mining, so you're not using as much power as rendering/gaming.

Depending on what your previous rig is, this rig may be unsafe if you're plugging into a standard residential circuit.
1200W = 10A. some house's circuits are 10A per breaker, but most are 15A/20A
2617  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter vs. Eligius? on: April 28, 2013, 11:33:02 PM
Anybody have experience with these two pools? Where would you earn more? Are the transaction fees worth it? Do you get luckier on Eligius?

Thanks

2618  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: HD58xx Mh/s output and power consumption on: April 28, 2013, 11:30:42 PM
low memory = less heat, less power consumption.
2619  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Block size targeting algo based on average propagation times for blocks? on: April 28, 2013, 11:16:26 PM
There's also a problem of how each node can preform a census on the ENTIRE network. Each node has limited number of connections to the network, so it can only "see" the propagation time of the nodes that it's connected to. This raises a problem of clients being forked because one set of clients may see the max block size as being 1 MB, but another set of clients may see the maximum block size to be 1.1 MB. As with any census of online networks, you obviously can't rely on hearsay from other nodes, because they can be feeding you false information. Once a block has the size between the interval of calculated maximums, the network may become forever split.
2620  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Prevent double-spend by using smartcard hardware wallets on: April 28, 2013, 11:10:24 PM
Double spending in bitcoin refers to a malicious user attempting to spend the same inputs twice. It's not about your funds being stolen.
