2601  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-12-16] Germany calls for global regulation of the cryptospace on: February 21, 2023, 05:25:26 AM
I don't see it.  If various nation states can't agree amongst themselves on how to regulate other issues like drugs, abortion, euthanasia, gun controls or any other 'political football' you care to name,
Unfortunately all these mentioned topics boarder around the politics of an individual country and what it's citizens believe is good for them...and the fact that we all have different beliefs and cultures as a people we can never agree on these topics....

how will they ever agree on how to regulate crypto?
Unlike the guns, drugs etc crypto does not boarder much on the politics as it exists in no man's land though we pretend this beast can be tamed.

Quote
Particularly considering how they generally understand far less about our ecosystem than they do those other topics.  They won't find any unified agreement, because they'll all be trying to pursue their own agendas, just as they always do.
I suppose this task can't be left to the politicians alone for obvious reasons , it would need players that understand the technology already, talk about the miners, exchanges, crypto influencers, law agencies etc its a longshot but still cryptos success could require regulation to give it a backbone.

In the US alone, even the individual states can't agree on what regulation should look like.  So anything global sounds a little far-fetched in my mind.
Maybe global is far fetched, but a benchmark for a start should do.

After having to go through the trouble of making my Chelsea starting 11..am starting to understand the position Potter is in...

You can imagine having to pick a team for the much needed win against Spurs after coming from champions league duty and your A team is fatigued

and others injured Roll Eyes At this point, I would let the captain make the team or allow the boys to pick themselves to make the team:P

Having a true discussion without the incentives that come from the signature is not a problem...

but the real issue that the forum will face to succeed is the lack of retention of users to the forum to keep these conversations going if sigs didn't exist!

By the way, If we compared BCT forum to other successful forums , there is always something that keeps users coming back for more ranging from freebies,

to the financial gain & list goes on... if nothing of this nature exists expect the place to be a white elephant and it's only the sad reality.

Besides, the sigs are not a bad development, the business gets the needed brand exposure, and users on the forum get their token of appreciation, win-win.

2605  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-12-16] Germany calls for global regulation of the cryptospace on: February 20, 2023, 07:26:20 PM
As much as we hate a regulated crypto ecosystem, I think global regulation of the cryptospace will give investors the confidence and protection

to invest in the industry without having the fear of bad actors taking advantage of them.

But the million dollar question is , who will draft these laws? Will these laws be suited for every country that recognizes the existence of crypto?

Are politicians going to support this idea or it will be another opportunity for them to invest their selfish intentions by building crypto businesses that will make the most from such a development?

2607  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is your profit taking strategy? on: February 20, 2023, 05:58:19 PM
This profit taking process by hodlers and traders kind of gets mixed up causing confusion... But how I see this hodlers simply have to buy and forget and it should be stated that this process is long term before you get to see some real returns on investment, while the process for traders is more aggressive as their returns is much more faster, bigger and risk is higher as there is an element of losing money should price go against what we anticipated.

Btw getting a 2x return as a hodler takes forever while going the traders route a 2x or 3x is super easy to attain.. It's all about the risk appetite.
2608  Economy / Economics / Re: They still think crypto is easy to manipulate? - CEO Crunchbase on: February 20, 2023, 12:34:42 PM

How can he say and compare between the market cap of Tesla stocks and crypto market and state that it's easy to manipulate because both of them have mere difference of 350 billions dollars. He thinks, 1 trillion dollar is very small market cap for the crypto and it could be easily manipulated.
One trillion dollars is definitely not pocket change, and I hate to admit it but Ronald AngSiy could be right on possible manipulation of crypto because of how crypto is designed... If you have taken a keen interest at the order book when ever you take trades i.e buy or sell a crypto coin... You can literally see this action by the candles printing pattern, now imagine someone with deep pockets moving around their money  Roll Eyes they certainly can manipulate price... And the fact that crypto users like to go with what the market is doing by trying to catch the next wave... The whales can have the gasoline and  everyone else can be the match stick and that's how you get a big reaction.

Isn't crypto is also a technological advancement that was invented very recently and also under stringent jurisdiction all over the world?
Stringent jurisdiction??? I don't follow... AFAIK with cryptocurrencies been decentralized in nature, I don't see how any law can actually tame the raging bull to bring it under their control.

Another point he forgot to consider is, decentralization. How one can get to manipulate such market which is distributed through public ledger down to the pennies!
It's decentralized nature has no fair play rules, meaning the big boys will play around with their  money and affect crypto negative or positively without having rules to stop such actors.

2611  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving is Wasting? on: February 19, 2023, 11:05:00 PM
Being a student is so hard nowadays. I've been spending a lot for school requirements and different activities related to education.
Life was never meant to be easy, from the set goal where life begins it all started with a race to survival, then here in the animal kingdom they say survival of the fittest, and this experience you are going through can be treated like a training ground to prepare you for the real world out there financially, emotionally, mentally etcetera..

I'm stuck with this saying "SAVING IS WASTING", thinking that with the little amount of money I have, should I put it on an investment or should I just save it for my future expenses or emergencies.
Let's say it as it is, you can only save & invest when you have surplus resources not when these are in limited supply, what happens if you invest and your needs require some funds to be sorted out...all the time and resources that you put in that investment will be all for nothing best option is to set aside an emergency fund as you might know what tomorrow holds.

I'm also living in a country in which there are limited side hustles I could do to earn extra for investment, so I'm troubled somehow.
21 first century jobs have evolved, it's not always about the white color jobs anymore, you could get into the gig economy by learning some kind of skills say photoshop, art, article writing etc, and get jobs on fiverr or something and you will be paid for it... don't say "there are limited side hustles " you could be looking in the wrong direction...Good luck.

Team Cro2 am looking at the Benfica answer why do we have this showing green for some users and others its in a different color?

We'll explain it tomorrow. In short - it was a head to head question against your opponent and if you both chose Benfica, it is a draw.
Doesn't this affect the general standings against other players, or scoring system is based on the duel results?

Never mind just saw the Competition rules, we all fighting for the precious 3points in these duels..

Looking at how the duel scores are at the moment, division 3 doing the most  Tongue

Jinetics1111 with a solid 7....jeez the lad must be a sporting guru or able to see the future, great start !

On the bright side looking at the average scores of division 2 ,I think this was the toughest group to be in... let's see how the last two questions go with the NBA All-Star Game.

Wout Weghorst had a wonderful worldcup campaign, but bringing him to Manchester United I feel the manager isn't vindicated..
How the hell does he miss all these chances to the point of his teammates trying to set him up for tap ins and still comes short???
For a striker these are bad numbers, maybe its the first season syndrome at play but I feel his failed to settle in with the Red devils:P

Final score :Manchester United 3-0 Leicester City, there goes my exact score thanks to a Sancho goal Cry
2616  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 19, 2023, 02:56:15 PM
In less than an hour the match between Manchester United vs Leicester City will start. I think in this match Erik ten hag will rest some of his main players ahead of Barcelona's second leg at Old Trafford.
Most of Manchesters inform player's have featured for this match and its important that they did to keep putting pressure on the two teams ahead and also get a better head to head overall. But what I see happening now considering they have got an early lead, is players won't play the full 90 minutes as this will be done to conserve their energy for the champions league game which will be a must win for them.

Statistically the head to head both Leicester have a little bit more lead but indeed right now the red devils are in good form so I think this match will end with a narrow score of 1-0 or 2-1 for Manchester United's victory.
Form over fixture any day of the week and Manchester United are in superb form to secure all 3 points this afternoon.

But watching this match, sad to say but Leicester have played far much better than United just that the foxes have failed to capitalize on all the created chances.. Seeing this game ending as is or 2-1 in favor of United.
2617  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin be trusted? on: February 19, 2023, 05:50:50 AM
A friend of mine came to me and we were having a conversation and I was trying to introduce he to the forum, but he turns out that I was asked if I really trust and believe in bitcoin it will never crash like other cypto industry.
The funny thing about crypto is that if the price goes up everybody wants to be a bystander waiting for markets to come down so that they are accommodated..

But the beauty about the crypto industry is that crashes will always be there as markets react to what's going on around the world and not forgetting the people behind these crypto coins are human who react as a result of emotions and what they interpret from the market news et cetera

I want know if it will not crash and I need help to convince him about it that it will not crash because am a beginner and I haven't know much about bitcoin so I guess been here I will fine help to assist my friend to join the forum.
No need to sugar coat things Roll Eyes

tell your friend the crypto ecosystem is like the weather...

there will be sunny days, rainy days, cold days etc and of all these non of them last forever it's the nature of things.

Like the weather crypto a moon and also crash, but these crashes are not permanent as markets usually recover and life goes on....
2618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gamers beware: miners are now painting GPU memory on: February 19, 2023, 03:49:11 AM
This is another reason why I believe gaming on a console is so much cheaper than PC gaming without having to worry about low fps and whatnot...now imagine having to invest in a GPU just to get better video memory or fps with lots of money for a used item that can die any time... and also the worst part about buying these products is that they are not covered by a warranty if you will be importing them from some other part of the world, in a nutshell, some bad business practice from our Chinese friends to be honest needs not to be supported.
2619  Other / Archival / Re: What is the easiest way to explain bitcoin to a regular person? on: February 19, 2023, 03:13:28 AM
I believe the easiest way to explain bitcoin to someone is first to understand them and use what they are familiar with to explain it to them, for example, if someone is a gamer explaining bitcoin to them is easier as you would simply tell them bitcoin is digital money that you can use to buy goods and services like you need coins to upgrade your game characters gear using coins or points accumulated.

Of course, there is no one definition that fits all, but nothing beats the definition of bitcoin is digital money without its physical form Cheesy

But then again bitcoin is not only money in its form, it can also be a store of value like owning a vintage car today and if kept in its pristine condition.. can be sold for some extra cash a few years later  Wink
