why aiming only at 8gb GPUs ?
Current hashrate is not really better than 4gb.

actually it is if you are not doing bios flash  which I don't do

And if you use smOS  you can buy any 8gb you find on a good sale.

management is easy and as you know I resell whenever I deem it works for me.

Say  the diamond 8gb I just got for 200 each new free shipping.

they will do 53mh   with settings like  999 2100 2 on smOS   at the moment they earn  over 4 bucks a day.

In 30 days  I have 120 back  so I could sell them at 170 each

400 - 120 = 280 power + 30 = 310  sell at 340  30 dollar profit  in 400

Cards are purchased on paypal credit  so 0 out of pocket  gets me 30 bucks in 30 days.

Everyone gains.
Paypal
diamonmultimedia
buyer from me
and me

down side is a total market collapse  I am stuck with cards I can't sell that don't earn.
26122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BAIKAL - WHAT IS GOING ON? on: March 20, 2017, 08:50:35 PM
I remember when I first purchase a mini back in August 2016 they were 500usd. Then they soon went out stock and had an exact release date for their new ones....not sure but I think it was Oct 16th or something like that. Then sales slumped and they lowered their pricing by 20% as they were sitting on dead stock. Dash then sky rocketed, group buys by Bittawn and stock is now gone. I'm sure they are scrambling to get new stock but I'm confident the A900's won't be anything less than 3000 even 3500usd a piece if dash price holds.

to explain  in terms of different gear take a pandaminer also sold out due to eth price rise and btc drop.

My panda rx 480 4gb model earns .0235 btc a day  mining eth pointed at nicehash converted to btc

44th  of  s-9 earns 0.0232 btc a day pointed at f2pool.

the panda uses 1100-1150 watts

44th of s9 uses  4500-4600 watts

so pandas sell out boom.

26123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Something Blow up when mining on: March 20, 2017, 08:38:00 PM
I was typing and doing stuff. Then I hear a boop sound. And one of my computer is death.

It seems that the videocard explode though I do not know for sure what's exploding.

RIP.

It's not a rig. I put a video card on one old computer to test mining.

Well....

It blows up.

I wonder what should we do to prevent this from happening?

Is there a software that monitor GPU temperature and turn off everything when it exceeds something?

yes  but  the lack of info does not help us.

were you using and amd rx 480 or rx 470?

msi afterburner has shut down  settings

if you were mining  with  claymore 8.1  for eth he has shutdown settings.  for hot rigs

if you used smOS  for watching all your amd rigs.

 he has shut down settings
fan settings
temp readings
fan readings

Thanks Citronick for the feedback !

My team had a meeting after the talk and we decided on some contingencies, pending Segwit vs BU bloodbath around "a few weeks before October". We will be investing more on GPU mining and Ethereum.

More GPUs ? what will you choose to expand now ?

Btw, will move the 2PH BTC farm into rental market before the war starts. When things gets risky and volatile, it's better to rent, sell the picks and shovels to goldminers than to mine the gold yourself

Nicehash , or something else ?

During the talk, Andreas spoke about the possible 51% attack -- reading between the lines without too much detail I think he was referring to an example .... the ETH fork not too long ago and how the ETC supporters bought all available Dagger-Hashimoto hash from NH at premium and throw hash at the ETC network to catchup with ETH network.... Vitalik was in the audience and ... Andreas didn't go any further on that discussion - but yes, I get him, I think when push comes to shove BU supporters will probably raid all available SHA256 hash for rent from NH to overtake SegWit fork. So when that happens, I dont mind selling my hash at premium. Call me opportunistic but WTH man... I am really sad if BTC comes to this stage.

According to Andreas, if the 51% attack happens -- there is only a "7 block" advantage and.. guess who has the hashing power stashed away in the Mongolian desert.

GPU mining.... hmmmm.... I think we are looking at a new "Trustware" platform, and it will certainly be GPU minable because software+hardware convergence although will be fair for all (and as predicted by Phil... so many hardware vendors will benefit vs only Bitmaintech profits).... it will not repeat the BTC's case of Bitmaintech dominating ASICs hardware. This is just my opinion. I am taking a big bet on ETH mining since, adoption by major exchanges and Coinbase already favors ETH. So I think ETH is safe haven for now at least short term until POS in 2018. I wonder is  ETH is the benchmark of a "Trustware".

Make sense.
Do you plan to expand on Rx470 or rx480 ? or to wait vega before expanding ?

If you are in a position to expand your most import thing is 8gb memory for the card.
then as always price.

I sold every rx 470 except the two I have with 8gb of ram
I sold all my asus rx 480's with only 4gb ram

I sold the panda miner  with rx 480 4gb cards. (still waiting for the coin)

I am down to:

  three asus      rx 480 8gb strix model ------------ does 26- 27mh on  1025 2200 smOS 2 power
  one   asus       rx 480 8gb dual model ------------ does  25-26mh on  1000 2200 smOS 2 power
  eight msi         rx 480 8gb gamer red led --------  does 27mh      on   999  2222 smos  1 power
  two   msi         rx 470  8gb gamer red led -------- does  22mh     on   975  1850 smos  2 power

two   diamond  rx 480 8gb blower  waiting for arrival of these

this is 16 cards on 8 rigs

If I get cheap diamond cards  I will buy them
But I may do nothing  except move the gear to the solar array

Phil , did you fix the Decred to NH issue ? or just satyed with Eth only ?

Another point : do someone know if SimpleMining can handle 7 GPUs with MSI Gaming5 ?

sure it handles the pandaminer with 8

Great thx

No worries on pointing it out
26125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Third alt coin thread last two were too big. Builds links thoughts etc on: March 20, 2017, 06:23:20 PM
I am posting this for sharing because I think it will impact all of us since Bitcoin is in the centrestage of all of our alts mining activities now. I am posting my comments only here in Phil's thread because self-moderates the thread....

Just came back from a Bitcoin local chapter talk with guest speaker Andreas Antonopoulos, and lo and behold Vitalik Buterin in the audience. I wanted to ask about the Segwit vs BU issue in Q&A, and well I didnt have to -- Andreas jump straight into it.

Very interesting talk about cultural gap between software mindset vs hardware mindset -- hence this battle between Segwit and BU, how Bitcoin is going to survive a hard fork and the emergence of a new platform that comverge software and hardware and maintains the glory of decentralization, ie. Trustware.

The video of the talk should be up in Andreas's Youtube channel in a few hours.

My team had a meeting after the talk and we decided on some contingencies, pending Segwit vs BU bloodbath around "a few weeks before October". We will be investing more on GPU mining and Ethereum. OK - thats enough yadda2 for the day. Watch the video and make your own decisions.

There's so much volatility these days I convert my mining gains straight to USDT.  We are already making a ton of money the only risk remaining is that the market suddenly crashes.

yes send some to cash at least 20-25%

I gave up on decred but  and a big but  my gpus don't stress on eth alone

3000 watts earning quite well 1.8 btc per month

30th  of s-9 earns 0.4758 btc     so almost 4x the btc for the same power

I have 3 people in line for the pandaminer.

the five asus rx 480s are sold.

So thread locked for now.
26128  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: "Lucky Drawing (Repair Ticket) $50 Refund" from Bitmain Warranty? :) on: March 20, 2017, 05:30:00 PM
It's only that way because someone's willing to pay a heck of a lot more than cost for ETH. Every time that's happened with BTC it crashed shortly after - remember Nov 2013 to Feb 2014? Your rig is far better at mining something not Bitcoins than the S9 is, but it sucks at mining bitcoins. It's only able to revenue more bitcoins than an S9 because of an unlikely and probably unsustainable favorable exchange rate between the two coins. The BTCs you get in exchange for ETH, someone first had to mine those the hard way.

If Ethereum sticks around, proves viable and is accepted as a currency instead of traded or stockpiled as an asset, it may get my support. But until then I'll keep backing the direct mining of the coin I actually want - a coin I can actually spend on something that isn't just another coin.

not that i disagree  but you are leaving out the fact that btc/asic  is  anti  gpu/pc components.

My feeling here is that bitmain avalon and biftfury  may have awakened a  multi headed beast

look at the companies in  thread  below :

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1833839.0

I still think all of this can work for all of us  and we are seeing the fact  that the companies in the thread above see what I see a cheaper way to acquire btc then using asics  and a way to sell their gear to us.

The year of 2017  has a lot of action headed our way.

I look to have some of all miners  to spread risk.

26129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are you the best PandaMiner reviewer we are looking for? on: March 20, 2017, 04:03:01 PM
I really hope they will send the next batch or whatever in a decent state.

I recieved my pandaminer (not b3) last week, full of dust, scratches, clearly been used for a significant period of time.. (and i know i'm not the only one....)

Not very professional if you ask me.

Then i got a private message from someone else who recieved his panda with 3 heatsinks completely loose....

I was very happy with my very first order, arived here in time, in perfect condition and still running smooth.

But to be honest, i'm not sure if i'm going to reorder anything else after haven seen this.

Lets hope they turn around and start working on their marketing skills and perhaps some decent English  Wink

A shitload of potential here, lets hope they make something out of it..

too bad  if that is the direction they are headed.

I am a third generation American  so I am just an English speaking  guy.

But my wife is first generation American  her parents first language was Italian  and my wife has more then 100 relatives that I have meet that speak Italian first English second.

There are language barrier issues , custom issues.  We effort to get along and for the most part it works out.

This is a very simple thing happening  in the world of  crypto coins.

As of today  the pandaminer  earns more  btc then 3 s-9s and uses far less power and costs much less.

No one knows  what will be in a week  but today  the pandaminer is a king.
26130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Third alt coin thread last two were too big. Builds links thoughts etc on: March 20, 2017, 03:33:55 PM
Armor is getting hotter than Gaming.
ROG should be decent but expensive usually.

The rog is not as expensive as the msi gaming, its about 5$ more than the armor but still 15$ less than the gaming

For mining, temps will be your worst nightmare, so consider good reputable fan/cooling solutions from Asus Strixx or MSI Twin-Frozz- very good actually -- my favorites. See Philip's rigs - I think he did review of these brands for RX cards too.

I have tried many different GPUs and have found the MSI RX470 Gaming X to be the most efficient, quiet, cool GPU on the market.  The strapping is also very easy to get the most out of this GPU.

there is something to be said  for this gpu

http://www.diamondmultimediastore.com/radeon-rx400-series

it is loud it is a bit hot but the price is good  for a rx 480 8gb card. 199.99 with free shipping

don't flash bios  just use smOS  set  at

 1025  core
 2100 mem
 2      powerstage
26131  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: I have 5 Asus rx 480 4gb gpus for sale. on: March 20, 2017, 02:18:58 PM

First and foremost  the wife is on the attack.

Second I want a little less gpus it will get warm for my setup as spring is a few days away.

LOL at this, that's all that has to be said....

I may be interested in the pandaminer but I just dropped some BTC on 7 RX480s week ago and will be building another rig this week.

Need to figure some stuff out and see if I can make it work

No worries it is making me solid coin. Pointed at nicehash mining eth

Maybe, but that won't stop me from trying. Change in favor of the little people is why I started working in the bitcoin economy over three years ago. Some people are worth not being completely ignored by everyone in the world.

yeah  I use the sticks for fun I hit a PPC block with

them.

I look forward to some more efficient models.

At the moment  BTC  is in trouble.  but there is a lot of $$ invested in it.  I am sure it will do better.

I mine my eth directly into btc  as I prefer btc. I use nicehash

But asic mining of btc is in trouble.

look at this rig the pandaminer.  it is far better then the s-9

I point it at nicehash  i get about 0.02368 btc per day using about 1050 watts

I need 44 th of sha256
or 3 ½ s-9s to earn 0.02368 btc per day

and that is 4500 watts

this math is what it is and is causing price adjustment in coins.

So at the moment my btc is cheap  via  eth mining

My suggestion to all is balance your portfolio.

uses  1100 watts  and earns 0.023 btc

3 ½ s-9s pointed at f2pool  does 44 th uses 4500 watts earns 0.023 btc

not to mention

1 used  pandaminer can be had for about 2200 usd from me

and 3 ½ s-9s  are more then 5000 usd [/b]  plus  the psus for the panda vs the 3 ½ s-9s is another 250 more for the s-9's

The swing to the pandaminer being the better deal at this moment is amazing.

What really amazes me is no one has said phil  sell me that pandaminer

(FUD is a mofo)

I for one am glad they sold out.

They made good gear and deserve to make profit.

@ panda miner. Since you sold it all how about a new run?

Maybe the next time limit 1/2 the batch to small sales.

@ everyone the fact they sold out so quickly shows the interest in gpu mining is strong.

This is good for all of us miners.

To be frank I would have liked one maybe someone from the company could have emailed me.

Hi, Philip, we will release a new run and new batch, but we are not sure about the exact time, we will tell you all the exact time when we decided.
Thanks so much for your support!

Put one on the side for me. Please.  They are selling like mad and I understand why you sold out as turning down an order of 300 or 400 machines would not be easy.

I am sending a pm now.

Hi dear friend

I used this mining oc but low hashrate for me
6 rx 470 = 157 m/h eth
But claymore for me each gpu 27.300 m/h
163.200 m/h
How fix this issue??

if you use claymore 8.1  here it (a linux system) runs a tiny bit lower then running  it with windows.

but it is far more stable.

so the trade off is you can control the miner  from any pc in the world .

plus it crashes less.

this one does 233 on windows and 229 on linux  plus I can set to 1 and use less power.
26137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Third alt coin thread last two were too big. Builds links thoughts etc on: March 20, 2017, 10:06:30 AM
So all these companies and a few you missed  simply buy some coins  and prop up price.

I see they  spent 25 million  early in Sat-Sun

Now they spent 13 million trading.   So Zec drops a bit  but  the end result is  a cheaper when to mine BTC  then buying Asics from BitFury or Avalon or Bitmain!

Phil  this looks like a solid idea on your part.

...

deleted the post  as the list does not need repeating.

This idea of mine has been proposed by me  before ZEC was around I said that companies were doing ETH.
AND I proposed that a coin would be created to replace ETH  for this purpose  OF SELLING PC GEAR and boom along came ZEC.

There will be new coins  if and when needed.  Since they sell gear.
