the armor is not good choice
I have the asus rx 480 4gb
I have the asus rx 480 8gb --------- good
I have the asus rx 480 strix 8gb----- very good
I have the msi rx 470 4gb
I have the msi rx 470 8gb
I have the msi rx 480 8gb--------- very good
I rate the asus strix 480 8gb about equal to the msi rx 480 8gb
the asus dual 480 8gb a little lower
the msi rx 470 8gb next
the msi rx 470 4gb
then the asus dual 480 4gb
I currently have just about 800$, so all i can afford is the rx 470s, since the rx 480s of the rog strix are good i guess the rx 470s would be as well, i guess you don't overclock/edit bios your cards right? They seem to have lower hashrates than what others are reporting
@xleejohnx, how much are the armor getting on what temp?
I am anti flashing of bios mostly due to smaller farm.
my cards get a little less hash then flashed but with smOS voltage setting on 2 vs stock 7 I don't use as much power and look at my temps.
Think of mining as driving on a long road trip.
Lets say New York City to Los Angles 3000 miles or 5000 kilometers.
I have a Kia Forte it can do 120 mph or 200 KPH on the speedometer.
I have got it into the low 90's It is comfortable to drive it at 80 mph.
But if I was to drive from NYC to LA I would set the speed control at 70mph and relax.
I can push my gear with dual mining and use 18 amps
I can push my gear with high clocks and use 17 amps.
Or I can just relax and do 14 amps (70 mph on cruise control)
Much less danger for fire and or burn out of gear.
Best of all I have been doing this long enough that the :
mobos = paid for
cpus = paid for
ram = paid for
psu's = paid for
gpu's = paid for
this allows me the luxury of mining with 2 cards on a 4 card board riser free and still turn a profit
