Considering how active TMAN was during January and February 2020 and that he didn't mention anything about leaving, taking a break, or doing something else, one can only fear the worst. His last post dates back to the end of February. February-March is the time when the pandemic really started breaking out all around Europe and the US. He might have gotten caught up in it.

It doesn't have to be COVID at all. Maybe he just got fed up with the forum, or he is in jail, or he is spending his crypto fortunes on an exotic island somewhere.

Not sure how would COVID cause him to be fed up, but you might be right about the island thing... he realized his profits and settled there, riding off into the sunset :p
2622  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Quality Can A Newbie's Post Be? on: July 02, 2021, 08:33:43 AM
Everyone has something they can contribute to the forums even if you aren't a Crypto expert. For newbs, it's best to focus on areas of the forum that you already have interests and knowledge about whether off topic, politics, society, gaming, etc.

Have yet to see a subforum dedicated for that. Would be fun to discuss about raytracing and 600 FPS on RGB monitors :p
2623  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am new in forum. on: July 02, 2021, 08:27:54 AM
Recently I came here to work on the campaign. But there are many other aspects that I do not know. Does the forum only work for the campaign? I have seen many members here are senior members. How can I get it? What are the rules of merit or the forum? What are the rules?help us..

Assuming you mean signature campaigns, they are hard to enter because of the membership requirements (mainly starting from Senior Members onwards) and there are many applicants before the Campaign Managers choose them.

The forum core function still maintains, as a Bitcoin discussion but there are some other subforums as well.

To rank up, you must gain Merit points which are given by other members for informative/ helpful posts in addition to Activity (time spent on the forum). More details below:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5170032.0

So as you can see, ranking up isn't as easy as posting and praying you get to the top so you have to work your way up.

There are also many rules @ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0 but most importantly, do not plagiarize (copy and paste posts or articles without giving them source). That results in a PERMANENT ban
2624  Other / Meta / Re: Seeking reporter badge images on: July 02, 2021, 07:35:08 AM
That's just Gay Gandalf humping Frodo's ring...
(is there a badge for either best gif, or best one-liner as a result of a gif in the forum's future?  There should be if you ask me!!!)
Have you ever noticed how small text can be on the right hand side of the page?
Neither have I...

Damn, thanks for ruining it for me. Now I can't unimagine it Grin

And that's one interesting way to format the size until they look like that haha.
2625  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲BetFury.io|⚡️Free BTC+BNB|⚡️$3.5mln Staking pool|⚡️BFG listing party on: July 01, 2021, 08:23:15 AM

To be honest, I'm continuously losing interest BFG Staking procedure. BFG staking isn't productive as it was before, so I wanna to see grow my BFG token at any how. Thus, I support BFG Token Farming this will definitely boost the prize of this token as well as the platform. The BetFury team aims to give us a ways of increasing BFG token through farming mechanics, we should accept it.

Yeah. Staking used to be good until recently when my holdings took way longer to reach a dollar in BTC.

Let's wait and see.

Honestly, forums with too much restrictions suck. Little dramas also help keep forum feel alive.

Yeah, it's nice to see the bickering over small matters and the color-laden posts by TMAN.

On a side note, I wonder what happened to him.
2627  Other / Off-topic / Re: John McAfee: Anti-virus creator found dead in prison cell on: July 01, 2021, 05:16:31 AM

Maybe someone was after him, dying in other country's cell seems fishy, inner prisoners could be involved.

UPDATE: Autopsy confirms he suicided and left a suicide note. We'll see how it goes from there.

Quote
A preliminary autopsy has confirmed that John McAfee, the famous antivirus creator, committed suicide in a Spanish prison, according to several sources close to the case who spoke to EL PAÍS. McAfee was found hanging from his cell last Wednesday by prison workers of Brians 2 penitentiary, located in Sant Esteve Sesrovires in the province of Barcelona. The 75-year-old had asked to spend time in his cell before he was found dead.

McAfee was in pre-trial detention after being charged with tax evasion by the United States. He had been in prison for more than eight months while Spain’s High Court, the Audiencia Nacional, considered the US’ extradition request for failing to file tax returns between 2014 and 2018. On Wednesday morning, McAfee’s lawyers told him that the court had decided to approve his extradition to the US and in the afternoon he killed himself, according to the investigation. The court’s decision, however, could have been appealed, and McAfee’s defense was already working on this process. According to the same sources consulted by EL PAÍS, McAfee left a suicide note in the pocket of his pants.

There is a potential BFG farming on the betfury itself. Let us wait what will be the final decision for this BFG farming. Right now, as it sits, it is about 90% who voted to have farming of BFG in the site. And we need to wait up until July 7 to see what the community thinks about it. If there will be farming on betfury, I guess, that's another good option to take other than staking your BFG.

Hmmm, that's more or less the same as BSW staking at the moment. So we pay some BNB to park our tokens here or on Biswap and then let them grow.

Does that mean BetFury would retire the dividends?
2629  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful of scammers on p2p exchanges on: June 30, 2021, 07:00:37 AM
I faced this scam attempt before, but it was on Remitano and during the BTC boom back in 2017.

That guy marked the payment as made, and insisted me to release the money after claiming it to be made via GIRO (bank A to bank B).

Had to involve the staff and furnish proof that I didn't receive the payment. That dipshit buyer stopped responding ever since so after like 48 hours, I finally received back my BTC. Thankfully the price appreciated by then or else I'd be having the seller's remorse.
2630  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲BetFury.io|⚡️Free BTC+BNB|⚡️$3.5mln Staking pool|⚡️BFG listing party on: June 30, 2021, 05:28:46 AM
That's already a nice amount of BFG tokens! What is the plan: keep them in your account for your daily dividends or sell some when the BFG price would boost massively?

Based on the screenshot, likely to let them stake for dividends.

If he decides to add them to the LP, he has to pair them with another token, either BNB or BSW. Not to mention there's a risk of impermanent loss if the price movements are large.
2631  Other / Meta / Re: An Alternative to Merit on: June 30, 2021, 01:57:50 AM

The only drawback of having both the merit and the like button is that most people will like the post without given the merit (as merits are rare and precious).
I personally don't like this idea. Again it can be treated in number of different ways like you press the like (shown publicly) and other people may give them merits thinking that the person who liked the post didn't have smerit to spend.

Some might think that way, but if you've been to Reddit, there are both karma system and awards. Karma is basically the upvotes/ downvotes you get from others while awards are mainly paid gifts or customized Merits.

Therefore Reddit's awards are harder to earn than Bitcointalk's Merit but good contributions/ posts are often awarded with them. Just like Merit and likes.

Something's wrong with the timing of Wheel of Spin. I received a free spin today but when I opened it I got an error saying it was expired.
Below are the screenshots which shows that the mail received was today and the error that was displayed upon using that free spin.

Strange, it worked fine here. Have you checked if your PC time is synchronized?
2633  Other / Meta / Re: How to earn merit on: June 29, 2021, 03:53:33 PM

Are you the last of your kind?(this is a compliment so you can maybe do the same for me.)  Grin

Of course, he's the one and only Pharmacist we know hanging around Grin
2634  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk has lasted a long time. Good job. on: June 29, 2021, 03:48:33 PM
Indeed.  But as I've always said, just because someone is motivated by money to post, it doesn't mean that person's posts have to be garbage.  Look at the Chipmixer campaign (and *ahem* Foxpup's exclusive Merit Cycling Club); only members who know how to write and/or attract attention get into campaigns like that, and to be accepted you have to have an established history of making quality posts.  Sadly, a lot of other campaigns have much lower standards, and most token-paying bounties have almost no standards whatsoever.

Come to think of it, does every member get paid handsomely to join the campaign? I recalled Loyce's getting paid quite a sum every week based on some posts made by Foxpup, but that's all I know of.

For ChipMixer, that's the "laziest" campaign I ever come across that almost has near-zero chances to join. These two are one of a kind :p

If those campaign managers were to raise the bar, I reckon we'd see a handful of campaigns surviving for a few weeks tops. But after all, advertising has always been a mixed bag. You come across good posters as well as bad ones. As long as the advertisers gain the exposure and new clients, the posts quality don't really matter. Just like how spam works.
2635  Other / Meta / Re: Signature Whitelist / Additional text label. on: June 29, 2021, 06:30:23 AM

Though it looks like it is a sort of "position", that number is being seen more like a meme along with the number 420.

With the widespread of those memes, it's hard to imagine someone not getting the reference.

2637  Other / Meta / Re: Dark Mode for Forum on: June 28, 2021, 02:50:04 PM

I agree, the BPIP extension is probably the best browser extension for the bitcointalk forum. Very useful. Also, it has a selection of several different styles including a dark theme.

Is it this one?

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/bpip-extension/ecpfdlfjiabpdnlhmkmannofnmpdakkj

Only 57 downloads, why are the stats so sad.

I have one question regarding this FUN poker tournament. If someone wins 2,500+ FUN, and transfers it to freebitco.in, will that count for the Premium Membership?

I believe that still counts, similar to transferring tokens from an exchange to here.
2639  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk has lasted a long time. Good job. on: June 28, 2021, 08:58:36 AM
No, it's not extraordinary and I'd say it's not even unexpected that this forum would last this long given how many people use the site to make money.  Bitcointalk would probably still exist if there weren't any campaigns or bounties, but I'd bet that there would be much, much less activity here.

That's pretty much the truth. Most (especially without jobs/ experience) are motivated to earn and with bounty campaigns paying quite decently depending on rank, it's a no-brainer once they attain the eligible status.

Maybe there are more niche subforums, such as Lending but if Bitcointalk were to further incorporate common topics; latest hardware, travelling, automotive, it would make discussions more interesting, and make signature campaigns more diverse. Not to mention it becomes a more enjoyable place to socialize.

However I'm pretty certain there would be hardcore naysayers to this, defending the nature of the whole branding/ Bitcoin cause; Satoshi be rolling in his grave should this happen.
2640  Other / Meta / Re: An Alternative to Merit on: June 28, 2021, 04:30:08 AM
Moderators get notifications of reports via a queue that is very similar to PMs. I don't think many people use this, but it is also possible to get a popup window when you receive a PM. Either of these could be implemented for merit sources.

If I remembered correctly, you can actually do that but I'm fine with PMs within the same window. Less clutter Smiley
