2621  Other / Off-topic / Re: Paying whatever you can salvage to blow my head off cause life's a bitch. on: April 17, 2020, 02:23:10 PM
People feel like this all the time, but social interaction with our friends make those feelings go away.

Now that we are isolated, it's very easy to allow the anxiety to spin out of control.

Do something.  Go volunteer at a hospital cleaning or something.  The bonus is that they usually feed their volunteers.  Smiley

Remember, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
2622  Other / Meta / Re: Scraping policy? on: April 16, 2020, 10:14:05 AM
Hi all, I made a small script that polls bitcointalk for new posts (every 10 seconds) and sends me an alert on Discord when a new post matches a keyword. I was wondering if this was an acceptable use of the site? I couldn't find any rules or guidelines related to automation/bots/scraping/etc.

Thx! Kev

You'll find ten seconds is too fast.  Most of the time you'll have 0 new posts except for a couple hours a day when there might be 11 posts in 10 seconds.  Instead you should set it for a minute or so, and then if you parse ten new records on the first page, parse the second page, and so on, until you get to Page 10.  It wouldn't be likely the forum would get over one hundred posts in a minute.

Your ISP will thank you.  Smiley
2623  Other / Off-topic / Re: The truth about GOD asking Abraham to sacrifice his child on: April 16, 2020, 08:28:27 AM
Let me ask you, if God ordered you to murder someone, why wouldn't you question your faith?

You better, or eventually you'll run into the murdered person in Heaven.   That is going to be awkward...
2624  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you think of a Hexagon World on: April 14, 2020, 02:51:54 AM
I have this idea about a hexagon world where we upgrade the triangle into a better world Utopia with Peace as its sign.

The tiny bit of content makes this look like spam.  :/

The hexagon is a great shape for gaming - I remember playing Star Fleet Battles in the late eighties.   It's not as easy to create and reference as a regular grid, but tools are making this easier.
2625  Other / Off-topic / Re: $11000 USD AWS credits account I dont need. on: April 14, 2020, 02:47:13 AM
I can't really judge this if you really are giving it for free to a lucky guy then bless you, but if you try to scam them then karma will surely hit you fast.

He will try to convince you to send anything up front to prove you are interested.

Karma needs a bit of help with crypto - all the proof is available in a blockchain but it's too complicated for such an old magical force.  :/
2626  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Project] 21 million bits for 21 million bitcoins on: April 14, 2020, 01:59:22 AM
Once you buy it stays there, nobody can re-buy it. To reply to Vod, I'll keep site as long as I can, depends on number of sold bits. Minimum 5 years, if it takes of, minimum 10 years. I'll add that to FAQ as well

That is why these sites fail.   You promise minimum of five years, but you register the domain for one year.

You won't spend money to renew the domain if you're not actively making money.
2627  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Project] 21 million bits for 21 million bitcoins on: April 13, 2020, 03:05:45 PM
The biggest problem you will have selling the advertising is how long you will keep the site online for.
2628  Other / Meta / Re: What are "reserved" posts? on: April 12, 2020, 06:32:49 AM
Isn't that what the edit function is for? Why avoid editing the original post?

Scam busters will look at the edit date of information such as bitcoin addresses or instructions.  By simply not editing the post with that info, you can avoid accusations of wrong doing.   Similarly, when a post has been edited (or deleted) months/years after, there is a good chance the person is trying to bury something.
2629  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lockdown, a great time for digital fast on: April 12, 2020, 03:43:22 AM
All great ideas copy and pasted, but a lock down is the worst time for pushing this.  Get away from your technology and do what - stare at the walls?   Not a good idea to encourage people to go outside.
2630  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Neural Network bot/signals on: April 12, 2020, 02:39:54 AM
Behind the scenes the test is proceeding. In this link you can find continuous updates https://vafed.it/benchmark_tp_1.php. I am getting 3% (Expectancy) from 24 December 2019 to today 8 April 2020. Meanwhile the tests continue. This weekend there will be an update to the training of the model reaching 200000 test images. He is now working with 150000 training images. There is one update every approximately 50000 images. I keep you updated.

I enjoy projects like this.  But I don't understand why you spend training on pre-existing images?  If you were working with the raw data you wouldn't have to modify your algorithm for each chart that didn't use the same scales.  After you spend all that time processing images, you still come down to change per period, which you already have with the raw data.  :/

2631  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Anyone With A Clue How To Do This? on: April 12, 2020, 02:25:52 AM
I have a news and scam review site.

You are going to review scams?  As in, wait until they have finished and explain to everyone how they worked, and how efficient they were?

You probably used the wrong word, but if you are going to expose scammers, be ready for a lot of attention from them.

You and your site will lose credibility each time you:
1)  bring attention to something that will help your interests
2)  fail to bring attention to something that could hurt your interests

In other words, it's probably best if you don't do business on this forum yourself while you have any influence over that site.   Huh
I see you got a price ticker.   Good luck!

2632  Other / Meta / Re: What are "reserved" posts? on: April 12, 2020, 01:55:09 AM
I noticed a lot of people immediately post a "Reserved" reply after submitting a new topic. What is the purpose of that?

It's done so topic starters can add new info without editing the original post.
2633  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Should I make an isolation box for my phone? on: April 11, 2020, 07:17:28 AM
In the past, I haven't really been bothered by geotracking on my phone, but I'm starting to rethink my attitude. It isn't just Google an Facebook. but a load of other organisations seem to be getting in on the idea. I've got some old roofing lead, and I'm thinking of lining a tin box with it, and using it to isolate my phone, especially when I am travelling.

Does any one else have similar concerns?

You'll still have to pull it out to use it.
2634  Other / Meta / Re: [BitCoinTalk][COVID-19] Grim Reality on: April 11, 2020, 01:33:26 AM
I feel like the type of Bitcoiners that are on the forum are recluses to begin with so they have a smaller chance of dying. You combine that with the fact most of the people on here are probably under 40 and you have a death rate significantly below 1 percent.

After I posted about my health issue, I got several PMs from others who were in the same type of boat.  We have no idea how old anyone is on this forum.

Young people seem to think that a person in their late thirties couldn't understand bitcoin, but remember I mined my first hundred bitcoins, ran a mining guild and busted several large scammers before you guys even read the word bitcoin.   Tongue
2635  Other / Meta / Re: Trust Feature idea: give DT1 the ability to remove specific feedbacks from DT on: April 11, 2020, 01:17:02 AM
I don't think this would be a good idea, not because of the idea, but of the current state of DT.

It would just increase the drama.  Right now for a few weeks each month after the DT reorg there is a lot of political play, trading of trust and negatives.  Now instead of lobbying to get someone off DT, you would be lobbying to remove a trust rating that next month prob will be irrelevant.
2636  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: OgNasty Ponzi passthrough and ponzi fans.. BTC losses everywhere he goes on: April 10, 2020, 06:09:17 AM
Og,

How much was the 'reserve fund' for your pirateat pass through?

It was the amount I promised the depositors and only grew until it was paid out.

Twitchy - he had the fund he received from pirate - over 2,000 BTC AND the fund he sent to the investors - 65 BTC.  Notice the deflection?  (This is important)

No sense arguing about this - we just need to present the blockchain proof in an easy way people can understand.  When I have more time, or if someone else wants to help.
2637  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Plead] Phinnaeus Gage's User Moniker Manifested Due to a Malignant Brain Tumor on: April 10, 2020, 02:58:31 AM
702-733-0320.  Let us know what you find out.
Is this his phone number? How did you get it?

That's the phone number of the location Gleb said he was at, in the OP.
2638  Other / Meta / Re: Identifying alts using posted addresses on: April 10, 2020, 01:41:55 AM
If you don't return my PMs, you have to wait like everyone else.   Wink
Which PM did I overlook?

Well, sent to you on Apr 4, but I never really asked a question, so there was no need to reply.  Smiley
2639  Other / Meta / Re: Identifying alts using posted addresses on: April 09, 2020, 05:44:06 AM
KYC?

Wouldn't KYC make alt accounts more valuable?  The more verification, the more you can sell it for.
2640  Other / Meta / Re: Identifying alts using posted addresses on: April 09, 2020, 02:58:07 AM
But the better solution is to build a system where alt accounts have no value.
How?

If you don't return my PMs, you have to wait like everyone else.   Wink

I'd glad most have the knowledge that a simple copy/paste of an address is proof of nothing; the same as copy/paste of any information.  I'm sure the community will react the proper way if an accusation ever comes up.

(One of the many reasons I'm trying to use vanity generated wallet addresses for the various SigCamps I've signed up for)

Missed this one.   That is a bad idea, since it helps people assume it is you, with something you cannot control.  You are fighting ignorance of newbies here - they won't know a vanity address is something anyone can generate.
