2621  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: September 12, 2018, 10:24:45 AM
We're doomed. Shitposting bounty-hunting aliens are capturing the Galaxy.

Copypasta of course.

I really don't know what's happening to the people right now, but in the least sense I can tell that these are the works of babies ( well, yah know, babies just do what they can see , and doesn't even bother whether they're doing is right or wrong ) These bounty hunters are even getting more insane as time passes by, and the work loads for reporters are also getting bigger.

You guys are unbelievable, if it's on me... I'd rather not waste my time reporting over and over again Grin I'll just do what Jet Cash usually do... Oh, well... I'm outta here. Wink

When we allow people to get paid for doing nothing but copy and pasting then why wouldn't they do it? Not only can you earn a good amount of money from this board merely for posting but you can also do so for free. Just fire up some bots, and they will do the copy and pasting and text spinning for you. All you need to do is sit back and watch the money come rolling in. Sure, we'll waste hours of our time playing cat and mouse with them and catching a few of them every other day in the process, but when you've got hundreds if not thousands of accounts losing a couple will just become an occupational hazard to these farmers. The culture around here really needs to change. Signatures from lower ranks need to be removed completely and badly run ICO campaigns who constantly pay for spam and copy and pasting need to be banished. The quality of content around here could change drastically, but it won't the longer the admins continue to do nothing and ignore it. In fact, it just gets worse.
2622  Economy / Reputation / Re: What are the chances these are alts? on: September 12, 2018, 10:11:37 AM
Somebody please tag all these guys. I really don't have time for this crap.

Absolutely unreal the lengths some people are willing to go to earn a few pennies.

Pennies? Some of them seem to be making hundreds of thousands if some of the other accusations are to be believed (I haven't looked into the amounts in much detail), but this sort of abuse is endemic. It's ICO campaigns fault for paying for such pointless rubbish. Paying people to tweet or post a Facebook status update are utterly useless when 99% of your friends or followers are fake or alts of your own. They don't give a shit though. Even if one real person see it and invests then that's money well spent for them. This is why this sort of abuse will never change because it costs ICOs little to nothing and they just need to desperately get their name out there as quickly as possible and they've got nothing to lose by trying this sort of spam advertising.

2623  Other / Meta / Re: i am not confident here and feel intimidated! on: September 12, 2018, 10:01:46 AM
No, this is not gender discrimination.

No, it really is.

I am only objectively speaking, because most female investors around me understand Crypto is difficult.

You're not being objective. You're being selective. Are the females around you the entire population of the world? No.

Including my sister, some of my female friends, although they also invested in Crypto, but until now they can not understand the Crypto / blockchain, this is a fact. We all have this experience. Why can't we admit this fact?

Maybe your sister is just an idiot? You ever thought about that? What happens if I have some black friends who don't understand crypto? Would it be fair for me to say that black people find crypto difficult to understand? No.

There are also a few girls who are better at crypto than boys, but this is not common.

This wasn't the argument. You said there are too many abstract concepts for women to understand and that they find knowledge more difficult. Maybe the women around you do, but I'm sure there are many abstract concepts you also don't understand.

The only thing you could factually say here are there are far more men involved in bitcoin than women, the rest is mostly just ignorance.
2624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we need to regulate digital money on: September 12, 2018, 09:49:59 AM
Whether I hear the word 'regulate' I hear this:

Sixteen in the clip and one in the hole
Nate Dogg is about to make some bodies turn cold
Now they droppin and yellin
It's a tad bit late
Nate Dogg and Warren G. had to regulate

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1plPyJdXKIY

For me, we need to regulate digital currencies, especially bitcoin to fully make use of it as payment in online transactions. And so that, bitcoin and other cryptos will exist forever. Although it opposes its idea being a decentralized cryptocurrency, I believe we need to do this in order that bitcoin and other cryptos survive for long in the crypto or real world.

How does regulation mean that bitcoin will last forever? Nothing lasts forever including bitcoin, but bitcoin seems to have been doing ok without any regulation for the first few years of its existence and would continue to function without any.
2625  Other / Meta / Re: Some topic should sticked. Moderators please check & consider if possible. on: September 12, 2018, 09:42:57 AM
Does the beginner read the sticky topics?
No, many of them ignore it and therefore increasing the number of these topics will ignore them as a whole.

You're right, many don't but the info should be there so those that do want to learn can get all the info they need, but this is one other reason why the rules should either be displayed or linked to upon sign up and they should be forced to read them in any which way we can. Either way, if they come here and don't read it and then break the rules then there's no excuses, but the rules should be shown upon sign up so it's on them if they didn't pay attention.
2626  Other / Meta / Re: i am not confident here and feel intimidated! on: September 11, 2018, 07:48:05 PM
Stick to your local board if that will make you feel more comfortable.

Well i guess do not have problem with that but the only thing is that everytime i saw a legendary account i feel intimidated from my post in english since i know that those member are really doing well.

Being a Legendary account just means they've been posting here for a long time.

It did used to mean that, buy now new Legendaries will become gods amongst men around here as 95% of people will only be able to dream about getting the required merit to become one. Prior to the merit system all you needed to have done was post in 56 activity periods and then made the required posts (784+). These days with new users signing up the chances of them ever becoming Legendary is slim to none. Most people will struggle to achieve even Member rank without trading or buying the merit. Long live the merit system and may it ruin many lives  Grin.

I think most of the BCT members here are males and there are only few females here like me.

It doesn`t matter. Your gender doesn`t determine your abilities. Treat other participants (without regard to gender) as people you can learn from, and treat yourself, as someone who is capable of making a difference in the development of this forum.

Op is probably a dude. Probably just hoping some white knights will come the rescue of a meritless maiden and toss "her" some free merits.
2627  Other / Meta / Re: Selling Bitcointalk Account -SCAM on: September 11, 2018, 11:46:05 AM
Sadly most of the people selling accounts these days are either hackers or just scammers who don't even have any accounts for sale in the first place and are just trying to fleece people. The account selling market is already a shady underworld and most escrows won't get involved so that just increases the chances of being scammed. I really think it's time to disallow account sales here or at the very least allow users to purchases the benefits of the ranks with Silver and Gold Memberships etc. It's win win. People will then stop buying them from scumbag hackers, farmers and scammers and instead they get a clean account that is rightfully there's and the money goes to the forum instead. We can put that money to good use. Either use it to finance worthwhile projects that benefit the community or the world or just give it all to charity. Where is the negatives in that exactly? There isn't one as far as I can see and everybody is better off.

Out of interest, how much did they lose here and what accounts scammed them?
2628  Other / Meta / Re: Some topic should sticked. Moderators please check & consider if possible. on: September 11, 2018, 11:38:57 AM
Not every thread needs to be stickied and I think there's too many already and we should probably consolidate some of them, but the info you proposed can certainly be added to existing stickies. Things like what you suggested could be included in the the Newbie/Welcome message which I suggested here as well. I messaged theymos abut it yesterday so hopefully we can get that stickied or at least linked to it asap. If you have too many stickies though or they become too big and confusing people tend to ignore them or glance over the content so they need to be concise and to the point. Ideally we can have one big thread containing links to guides and everything you need to know so people can find the relevant info and click on the threads for more in depth explanations.
2629  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Talk has made me a bit sad today. on: September 11, 2018, 11:31:50 AM
We need a Beginners and Help board for the alt coin section. The current bitcoin one is being swamped by the same old crap being asked about ALT coin related subjects. We also need to get the Newbie/Welcome message initiated which I suggested here. I messaged theymos abut it yesterday but that will likely just get ignored like everything else does. That needs to happen asap as info about all the things they need to know can be included there so they don't need to litter the place up with the same old questions.

Some newbies are interested in learning and not in making fast money. Some may be interested in learning as well as making some money. But what’s the percentage? 0,1%? For me, it’s not surprising that most of them don’t pay attention to your good projects.

Thanks for your efforts, by the way.

The problem is probably 95%+ of people signing up here are doing so just for bounties and the majority of them are clueless. They've just been thrown in at the deep-end by someone telling them they can get paid to post here.
2630  Other / Meta / Re: Partially decentralised moderating on: September 11, 2018, 10:51:56 AM
I think this system would open us up to huge potential for abuse, but if people are trusted to be able to do this and they would obviously be beneficial to the community/staff due to their volume of accurate reports then they should probably just be made a mod. We obviously are in need of some more mods here and this will only become more apparent as the community grows and the abuses that come along with it so theymos should just assign some more mods from the top reporters. I don't think we should be creating a system that allows non-staff to remove posts because there will obviously be some people who just acquire enough mod points to remove some post they want to get rid of for whatever reason.
2631  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: September 11, 2018, 10:37:37 AM
This is a multi-line shitposter (as opposed to "good project" and other one-line shitposters) who never quotes anyone or replies to anyone or anything except the thread title:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3219474.msg42470967#msg42470967

I second to this, they are ravenous individuals shitty site completely wacky ,I educate individuals to haul out with respect to bountyhives, and join bitcointalk.org ,satoshi created btc to check eagerness and get ride of unified frameworks, blacklist bountyhives.

I hesitate to report it though. There is some effort in that shit, in a "mad as a hatter" kind of way. Also bonus points for involving satoshi.
It looks like he is posting a bunch of incoherent crap in the majority of his post and otherwise agreeing with the title.

They looked like copy and pastes to me initially but I can't find any evidence of that, but he's probably using a text spinner and that's why his posts seem a little off. Check this post out below. He's posting about Ripple but seemingly refers to is as "Swell" which is surely a synonym for 'Ripple' (unless there is a Business called "Swell" that has invested in Ripple):

Tron is as yet developing while swell has colossal plunges over some stretch of time. Be that as it may, I trust Ripple will exceed Tron big time as Ripple's trade charge is very less. Additionally, Ripple has been in the news for a long time now and it has been the few digital forms of money close by bitcoin and ethereum to be recorded in significant trades. On the off chance that you are having Ripple, hold it for additional time and don't stress. Swell's sponsorship is awesome and the innovation will before long be found in significant banks everywhere throughout the globe. HODL!!

I found one other mention of Swell in that thread here which has almost certainly been changed ripple for swell:

Swell is made as a computerized resource/money like bitcoin. Tron is made for advanced media makers to give them full control and proprietorship to their substance. You're contrasting apples and oranges.

Edit. Got both these bastards. Both copy and pasting and text spinning:

Tron is still growing while ripple has huge dips over a period of time. But I believe Ripple will outdo Tron big time as Ripple's exchange fee is quite less. Also, Ripple has been in the news for quite a while now and it has been the few cryptocurrencies alongside bitcoin and ethereum to be listed in major exchanges. If you are having Ripple, hold it for more time and don't worry. Ripple's backing is great and the technology will soon be seen in major banks all over the globe. HODL!! Cheesy

Ripple is made as a digital asset/currency like bitcoin. Tron is made for digital media creators to give them full control and ownership to their content. You're comparing apples and oranges.

Both Juniors. Junior Member signatures need to go otherwise we're playing cat and mouse with these idiots and it's too difficult/time-consuming to spot/investigate.
2632  Other / Meta / Re: Spam Filter Plugin V1 on: September 10, 2018, 03:42:59 PM
I think this is overkill and unnecessary.

If a user didn't receive any merit yet, that doesn't mean what he/she has to say isn't valuable and can be ignored.

I know the spam issue is increasingly annoying but we need to tackle the root cause and not the effect.

You don't have to use it nor does it effect any poster from being able to (shit)post here. I personally wouldn't use for obvious reasons, but it could be very helpful for those who are sick to death of all the worthless generic spam that gets posted here by bounty hunters churning out their hollow one liners for payment. In fact, I think theymos should implement something like this in the new forum software because it might actually make the board usable. For those decent posters they will soon get the merit they require to show up to those who set a merit requirement so it will only effect you not seeing those posts from decent posters for a short while and that's a small price to pay to have all the crap posted by zero-merit users hidden that nobody wants to read anyway.
2633  Other / Meta / Re: Vote for new moderators who deserve it. @theymos please take a look. on: September 10, 2018, 09:26:57 AM
Moderator for what? A patroller? Probably some of the best choices for staff likely aren't even on this shortlist and is why popularity isn't the best quantifier. Sure, those who are very active and helpful within the community should be taken into consideration, but it's the accurate reporting showing you're aware of the rules that is usually the better identifier of suitability. As we've seen, some of the most popular amongst the community aren't even interested in the position either. Choosing mods for sub boards should obviously be chosen from the users who are most active in reporting within there and only theymos has access to that info.

Do you remember rickbig? He isn't much popular but is a very active reporter who just deserved the position of global MOD.  When he was elected, there were very few members who know about him. This shows that just being popular isn't enough to get appointed.

rickbig is a perfect example. He wasn't much of an active poster at all, but he was reporting an insane amount of posts. Every morning when I woke up there was often dozens upon dozens of reports by him on spambots and often times they had been in the queue for hours and could be still there for many more if I didn't get round to them or was out that morning. That's why it made perfect sense to have him on board. He frees up time from current mods and doesn't have to waste time reporting bots when he could just nuke them himself. He then rose rapidly to Global because he was still very active in reporting and it made sense for him to be a Global (and still despite being very active in actually posting). He's now probably amongst the top handlers of reports (though I can't be certain and only theymos will have access to those stats and that's why he is the best one suited to choosing new staff members). Maybe one day he might even become an admin. Who knows.
2634  Other / Meta / Re: This senseless cheating should stop on: September 09, 2018, 07:04:37 PM
If all it takes is for someone to sign up on a spreadsheet with someone else's bitcointalk username then that's the ICO's problem and their fault for being so incompetent and allowing themselves to be cheated this way. They could easily solve this if they wanted, or you know, stop giving away tokens for something so stupid as this.

It would be a preventive measure if Bounty Managers (especially for social media) would always send a pm to every bitcointalk profile whose links are filled in the Google form as a kind of validation. That way, users get to know whenever a cheater is trying to use their links. I think this will go a long way to keep this bounty cheaters off. Why link someone to a bounty he doesn't even know about.

Spamming a load of people that haven't signed up isn't the way to go. It would make more sense to get the users to PM the bounty manager so at least that is verification that they're in control of that account. Bounties don't care either way anyway. Most of them are incompetently run and couldn't care less about how many tokens they get as long as they're getting their name out their and taking in the BTC/ETH in the process.
2635  Other / Meta / Re: Getting in contact with theymos? on: September 09, 2018, 02:30:13 PM
Either way, some butthurt kid has doxed me both on my trust page as well as in a thread at Investigations. I've sent pm's to both theymos and Cyrus without any reply nor action being taken.

Yet more reason for more admins. Things like this should be removed ASAP.

What does it take to get the attention of theymos? Having a case of plagiarism surely can't be the only way, can it?

Since when does he usually get involved with that?

So please do tell me what it takes for either of them to act.

(Yes this is an attention seeking post, as all previous attempts have failed).

You could try accusing him of being a gender terrorist. Worked for me  Grin.

There will be dozens more of these. If you look through the threads they post in you'll be able to find more and they're pretty obvious as they have the same formatted names and are Juniors with around the same amount of posts.

Really wish theymos would just get rid of signatures completely from Newbies and Juniors and this sort of abuse would be severely curbed. Good luck to these farmers getting ten merit on even one of their accounts with the generic nonsense they churn out, but the longer they're allowed to earn good money for this behaviour then they will continue to be rewarded for this abuse.
2637  Other / Meta / Re: Massive account farmer? on: September 09, 2018, 01:00:22 PM
I see some people raising tens or even hundreds of accounts. But I do not understand what their purpose is? Maybe I'm a fool.

Plenty of reasons, but mostly people farm them to claim bounties or join signature campaigns. Most people aren't going to get past Junior Member these days due to the Merit system so to maximise profits they farm numerous accounts to post their one liners over.

Found some more of the ones I posted about above this morning:

You missed these ones as well:

They belong to a farmer who was farming hundreds of accounts and I've probably banned 50+. All his usernames were just two random words put together. He's now joined a ICO campaign on those two and god knows how many others. This is why Juniors and Newbies need their signature removing completely.

Do you give jobs based on how popular people may or may not be? No, you base them on who is more qualified.

Unless of course you're running for POTUS, that kind of job is currently reserved for a special kind of unqualified!

Well you've just exposed the flaw in democracy right there.
2639  Other / Meta / Re: User nominated names of possible moderators for forum. on: September 09, 2018, 12:37:37 PM
How is being popular a good quantifier for a position as a moderator? The least popular may be the best suited for the position. Do you give jobs based on how popular people may or may not be? No, you base them on who is more qualified.

Agree with you. Since we are not able to see who is the best reporter, we can just present few names to theymos. So theymos will able to picked the name who is qualified ( if he want ) . I just want to show that forum member wondering for new moderators so that theymos could change his mind. You can say just remind him by this way and I believe he will consider that.

He's been reminded more than enough times about the various issues here and that includes making new moderators or at least assigning current ones to the sub boards that need them. Nothing else we can do other than hope that he gets around to it. Adding or assigning new mods requires little effort from him and the benefits will be immediate and require no further assistance from him and it's something he could do today if he really wanted so it should be made a priority. I'm sure he knows that workload needs to be distributed and he gave me the list of top reporters a couple of months ago so he just actually has to use that info now.

I mean, I had no idea that so many of our staff and DT members were ass-lickers, douchebags and motherfuckers. Thankfully, all these newbies were kind enough to enlighten me.

Don't forget rappers/rapers (ie rapists).

It's seems most of potential member's thought is same. Personally I believe theymos could consider members suggestion. So many name came out from individual members. I think voting is the best way to show popularity to theymos. At least we can try. Perhaps thread will locked today and I will pick nominated names for voting. If some one want suggest more name , feel free to write here.

We don't know about theymos think but we can try it.

Read the posts in this thread for why it isn't a good idea. How is being popular a good quantifier for a position as a moderator? The least popular may be the best suited for the position. Do you give jobs based on how popular people may or may not be? No, you base them on who is more qualified.
