2621  Economy / Speculation / Re: No strength in Bitcoin in higher time frames on: January 19, 2022, 05:06:14 PM
Bitcoin is very weak in the higher time frames ( daily & weekly). Slowly and steadily, bitcoin may break the 40k important level. Also on minor bitcoin dump, we see massive dump in the altcoins.

I wonder if we are about to move in the bear market ? What is the hope of bull market in the current circumstances ?

Currently bitcoin is near the bottom and I think it might pump in the next few months if everything goes right.
I think if bitcoin maintains this price range for a few weeks and doesn't fall any further then it will be a good support.
Bitcoin might pump in the next few months but if it falls further then going back to the ATH may take another year.
It's all just a speculation.
2622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin User Loses Record $1.1M on: January 19, 2022, 04:57:54 PM

Quote
A bitcoin user lost more than 26 BTC worth $1.14 million to online thieves posing as MicroStrategy chief executive officer Michael Saylor.

Whale Alert stated, "this scam received the single largest payment ever to a fake giveaway."

Saylor said he reports the scammers to YouTube every 15 minutes, and they are pulled down hours later, but the criminals are relentless.
https://beincrypto.com/bitcoin-user-loses-record-1-1m-scam-michael-saylor-giveaway/

Another ironic story. For me, it looks exactly like this. A person who owns 26 BTC falls for the bait of scammers who, allegedly on behalf of Michael Saylor, promise to double his capital. Maybe I'm too skeptical. Having a decent capital in bitcoins, it would be worth checking the information on several channels than throwing away bitcoins, counting on increasing your capital. While those 26 BTC may not have been the last in his portfolio, and for the owner is not a big loss. Huh

It's hard to digest the fact that someone would randomly throw away 26 BTC into a fake giveaway to double the capital.
Nobody in their right mind would take this kind of risk unless the news is fake or there's something fishy.
I read the comments on the tweet by whalealert and found few guys saying that it might be a way launder money and get away with taxes.
It does make sense if you are having millions and want to save up on taxes.
2623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Logan Paul vs Mike Tyson on: January 19, 2022, 04:35:41 PM
Looks like the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight is not happening any time soon. They were in talks about the fight and were about to schedule it in Las Vegas.
But as per recent news it is being said that the fight has not be licensed/sanctioned in Las Vegas which again will delay the whole process.
May be we will have to wait few more months before the match goes live.

2624  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: January 19, 2022, 03:10:32 PM
1 more week left for the Bitcoin price prediction to end~
It's going to be tricky this time. Absolutely no idea where BTC is going. Smiley
Bitcoin price started with a small price drop in this month, and the price is showing pretty good volatility since the start of the month. Currently it is staying between 40k to 45k range. The highest number of bets has been placed on that range till now. Bitcoin price may stay between 35k to 50k range at the end of this month. And freebitco have only 3 betting option available in that range. A good thing is that each of those betting option have 5k price range, not the 2.5k one. I'm planning to place bet on 35k to 40k and 40k to 45k range.

At the present, it seems that bitcoin will be either in these two ranges by the end of Jan 2022 (35-40K or 40-45K) and many people would have placed bets in this region. But remember, what matter the most is what will be the price of bitcoin on 31 Jan, 2022. There are still 12 days left and as always there could be a pump near the end of the month and prices can go above 45000$. The situation is very tricky at the moment and i am not sure where to place the bets for this month's bitcoin price  Huh

The odds of bitcoin staying in the range of $40k-$45k are quite high this time although nothing is predictable in crypto.
But the return is hardly 2.3X which is quite low. I am still thinking whether to bet on bitcoin price or ethereum price.
2625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Always do Some Research Before You Start Staking on: January 17, 2022, 02:42:55 PM
Staking is like long term investment so research is important. If you invest, you will be able to sell your coins anytime. If you invest and use coins for staking, your coins will be locked so it is a second risk.

There is alternative for staking, that is bond. With bond, you will be able to claim your reward according to bond vesting terms.

They have common risk, risk of inflation and risk of price fall when you are staking or vesting.

Staking coins is really a good way to generate passive income in my opinion. It also depends on which coins you are staking.
For some coins there is a low lock-in period and we can unstake the amount in just a few days which provides us the flexibility to sell coins whenever we want.

When fiat is involved bonds are probably better than opening a fixed deposit. But then again not all bonds are safe.
The ones which are relatively safer has lower returns but still better than FD. Overall I still think staking is the best option here.
2626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: A quick question!! on: January 17, 2022, 02:30:02 PM
Elon Musk influence on Dogecoins seems to have dropped, why ?

That shouldn't even be a question. No wonder the influence is dropping because the whole market has been in a decline lately.
Another reason might be that people have actually realized Elon is just a Doge shiller and is manipulating the market.
Sooner or later this was gonna happen and I think this is just the beginning.
2627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why so negativity for NFT? on: January 16, 2022, 02:13:13 PM
I have been seeing this extraordinary hate for nft, i find it really irritating, i can understand some criticism but the way they make it look like it is a sin. I mean first of all art is subjective, the points they use to criticize can be easily applied to modern art. For me most of modern art is crap but it has value because people believe in its value simple as that. Even currency is just a paper but it has value because people believe in its value. This is somewhat same hate bitcoin gets even to this day. And i know the same people who are criticizing NFT will be first in line to get NFT once it become more common and once they see profit.

LOL  Grin

Isn't NFTs already very common ?

Anybody can easily buy an NFT from the marketplace and this is the reason for it's criticism in my perspective.
In the beginning NFTs were rare and many people made huge profits from it which is why everyone were praising it.
But then many projects started launching every day and NFTs became very common as people were buying and selling NFTs in bulk.
This made the price depreciate and people started losing money which is why they started criticizing NFTs.
Even today many NFT projects are getting launched everyday. It has become the same as ICOs in 2017.
2628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Changing my Thoughts And Behaviors. on: January 16, 2022, 02:02:17 PM
Hello Bitcointalk Friends,
I have noticed some changes in my life and the way I act, this made me stop evaluating my self which is a normal thing as an individual self-assessment is key to discovery and adjustment in one behavior.
Lately, I discovered I don't find any discussion that is not Bitcoin-related interesting and start loving more privacy than crowd or working with people who are not Bitcoin enthusiasm motivating.
Well, the fact is we as individuals believe we can change the way bitcoin work and the Bitcoin network but on the other hand, Bitcoin end up influencing us more than we influence Bitcoin since it is decentralized and they is nothing developers can do to change anything in the Bitcoin network.
What change have you noticed in your life since you get involved in Bitcoin I can list some of them such as changes in our Financial behavior, knowledge quest, and the way we make investment decisions.

Note:  am not talking of being addicted But getting more involved in Bitcoin-related activities and discussion with of getting the best out of this young growing industry.

Bitcoin has indeed made few changes in my life which I am proud of. The major changes it has made are as below

Bitcoin made me improvise my financial condition
Bitcoin made me focus more on my privacy
Bitcoin made me realize the importance of owning your assets
2629  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any website without a dispute here? on: January 16, 2022, 01:06:52 PM
Constant success is a myth and I believe it's just a matter of time until one is replaced by another.
We see many casinos launching every year and ofcourse people enjoy it in the beginning for the new benefits and services provided by the casinos.
But as the number of people increases the number of issues starts increasing as well. It is difficult to resolve all issues because some are really complex.
This is why few of the users feel they have been scammed and then raise a scam accusation.
There are also users who willingly try to scam the casinos and then raise accusation in hope to gain money out of it.
So I don't think there is any casino who won't have even a single accusation raised against them.
2630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting or casino? on: January 16, 2022, 01:01:55 PM
In this thread I share my opinion. I know 2 types of gambling. Sports and casino. I have both types experience. At first I started to play casino like roulette, dice, ludu. Roulette was my favourite casino table. One day I won 7k usd on roulette table. But I couldn't retain it. I lost all the usd in 10 minutes and day by day my lossing amount increased. Sometimes casino table was so tough. Whatever I bet all lost. No sequence maintained. If I won a day, I would loss 5 days at a stretch. It seemed all was fixed. I shifted to sports betting. I started to follow biggest football league like English premier League, la Liga, french Liga etc. Researched the teams statistics and placed bet. Gradually I covering my losses. What's your experience?

Even I started with casino games like dice, hi-lo game, crash etc... and no doubt the long term results were in a loss.
But I used to play for fun and hence I am not sad with the losses. I have tried betting too but not sports betting.
I mostly bet on crypto prices and so far it has been good for me. I was able to make profits in most of my bets.
2631  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin wallet on phones on: January 16, 2022, 12:37:16 PM
Also, your phone should not be infected with a malware or a virus or a keylogger because those things can easily steal your funds from your wallet.
The problem here is just how much junk people download on to their phones.

As a small experiment, I would suggest everyone takes out their phone right now and go to the "permissions" section of their settings. It's usually under Settings -> Apps or Settings -> Privacy. Just look at how many apps have access to your keyboard, your storage, your screen, your camera, your location, etc. Maybe you've downloaded and verified a reputable open source wallet like Electrum. Good start. Are all your other apps open source and verified as well? Didn't think so.

Maybe you don't have any malware on your phone, but do you completely trust every other app you have on your phone. Even huge apps like TikTok have been found to be spying on users, snooping on their clipboard, etc. If an app which has been download 2.6 billion times can hide spyware in it without people realizing (or caring), then so can any app, from a game to custom themes to an alarm clock.

It's the same as when people start installing a bunch of extensions to their browser. Every additional app/extension/piece of software is a new risk.

That's very true which is why the only 2 options which are worth a try for a person desperate to use bitcoin wallet on phones are as I mentioned in my post above.

To avoid this you can keep a separate phone which has only the bitcoin wallet on the phone or you shouldn't download anything else on the phone from external sources which potential contains a virus.

But even these are just options with lower risk compared to the wallets which we use on our regular phones with junk apps installed.
This is why they say that hardware wallets are the best of all options to hold cryptocurrencies since they don't have these kind of malware/spyware issues.
2632  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin wallet on phones on: January 16, 2022, 04:15:19 AM
I have been using bitcoin wallet on my phone for a long time so I think I can answer this question better. The thing is that it all depends on how good you are at phones.
You can very well use a good non-custodial wallet on your phone like Mycelium or Electrum. They have app password protection in addition to the security lock on the phone.
So a random user won't be able to access your wallet just like that unless he has access to your phone and knows how to penetrate through it (in most cases he should be a hacker).
Also, your phone should not be infected with a malware or a virus or a keylogger because those things can easily steal your funds from your wallet.
To avoid this you can keep a separate phone which has only the bitcoin wallet on the phone or you shouldn't download anything else on the phone from external sources which potential contains a virus.
The last thing is that if someone steals your phone then you need to remotely reset your phone and you must have that option enabled to be on the safer side.
Backup of the bitcoin wallet on your phone is mandatory and try to store the seed phrase on a piece of paper or somewhere very secure.
This way you can lower your risks and keep using the bitcoin wallet. So far these have been working for me well.

2634  Local / India / Re: If BitCoin Was Legal In India on: January 15, 2022, 12:47:52 PM
After the pandemic companies are starting to welcome India for manufacturing their products and host their services.
Although not full fledged but make in India is giving rise to potential businesses and startups in India.
So if bitcoin/crypto was legal in India then we can only imagine the possibilities of various tech startups getting emerged in India.
Various job opportunities, ease of payments, transfers, new tech and what not. There are no limitations.
India might have become a gateway to mainstream adoption of crypto. It would have paved way for wider adoption as other countries would have followed the suit.
2635  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do u think about gambling? on: January 15, 2022, 12:38:26 PM
I want to know the opinion of everyone here on this forum.I know we have different insight about gambling, and I would appreciate hearing your thoughts.

So the question is(What do you think about gambling? Is it a fun ? Or a threat.

In my own opinion, gambling is fun. It is sort of like watching tv or playing online games but the possibility of winning money. It could be a threat if you dont know how to set your limits of how much money and time you can spend. Even if you have a large budget, it is a not a bad idea to set limits for yourself.

Always keep in mind,

NEVER INVEST MONEY THAT YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE.

I believe that "anything" that is overdone is a threat and anything that is done within the limits can be fun.
This applies to most of the things around us whether it be gambling or anything else.
If we gamble frequently then we lose money and it becomes a threat but if we do it within the limits then we afford to lose the amount and hence it becomes fun gambling.
2636  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: January 15, 2022, 12:00:49 PM
This is an interesting experiment. Please share the results afterwards. Only one suggestion, if you don't mind. When you have your 50 WoF spins collected, don't spin them all at once, I mean don't click "play all" here

I tried it and it is so boring: you lose all the fun of spinning that Wheel of Fortune and expecting something big each time. Smiley

Well, we just have two options here. Either spin all at once and get cumulative results or spin one at a time.
Spinning 50 times would be a little hectic. May be we can spin some of it one at a time and the rest by spinning all at once.
But then sharing the result of spinning one at a time will also be cumbersome unless I just write it here in words.
What do you suggest we should do ?

If you don't enjoy spinning the WoF as I do, I can perfectly understand the "little hectic" part. Smiley In that case it is probably better to spin them all at once and post the table with results here, like other people do. I personally enjoy every spin. Also, I don't think 50 spins take a long time. Since solving captcha is not required, one spin takes about 4 seconds max. I would be happy to spend 200 seconds of my life spinning the Wheel of Fortune, but that's me, of course, do it the way you like it. Smiley

For me it takes 4 seconds just for the spinning animation to stop so it takes about 6-8 seconds to make the second spin.
But yeah I am willing to spend 8x50 spins = 400 seconds (7 minutes) to spin the 50 spins and will post the results here.
Lets see how it goes. 1 more week left for the Bitcoin price prediction to end as well as the 50 spins challenge.
2637  Economy / Economics / Re: Can civilization revert to a barter system on: January 14, 2022, 01:49:17 PM
Central banks have announced CBDCs (central bank issued digital currencies). Some have voiced concerns of CBDCs being tools of surveillance and control. If society experiences CBDCs and decides they do not like them, will it be possible to revert to a barter based system of trade?

A barter based system could be more susceptible to fraud and scams. Yet would allow for financial transaction outside of CBDC regulation. This could become a necessary step if some individuals and businesses are deplatformed by CBDC. Some businesses can only survive by paying workers under the table.

In practice a barter based system could function similar to ebay with an independent and reliable 3rd party form of escrow. (Blockchain based of course, we aren't complete savages and primitives  Cheesy)

Could a barter system be a worthwhile form of trade past the year 2022. Perhaps the next big leap forward will be a retro move backward into the past.

The major reason why the barter system was demolished is because the lack of value for a particular item in exchange for the other.
It would be very difficult to calculate the value of a particular product without a proper scale of price.
Also, if people think governments will be able to track the money and have control over it then it also becomes a disadvantage for themselves.
At any point of audit they could themself be tracked by higher authorities and get blamed for a fraud or corruption.
2638  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: IS it possible to let your BTC work for you ? on: January 14, 2022, 01:36:13 PM
Hey, I am wondering is it truly possible that my BTC works for me , without revealing my private keys and also without KYC ?
I have read and heard about similar things but they seem more like a Ponzi scheme.
Does anybody have any experience with a non-custodia platform/wallet /swap which does not require KYC but supports BTC ?

A privacy concerned BTC fan.

As far as we are talking about BTC then no there is no "direct" method that I know of which we can use to make more money.
There are some but they require us to give them the authority of our coins which again is not a good idea for a privacy focused person like you.
I personally think just holding your bitcoins itself is like making your bitcoin work for you since the price of it is increasing in the long term.
2639  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin makes a loser a winner on: January 14, 2022, 01:20:30 PM
I don't know if something similar has already been posted on the forum, but still. I love these artifacts. This is the story of bitcoin, the story of how people felt about it at the time, 10 years ago.

snip

The case when the losers became winners. Yes, I understand that there is an extremely small chance that these people were able to make the correct profit from this consolation prize, and most likely they got rid of these coins almost immediately. Although, everything can be, and one of these guys still became a millionaire .... who once lost.

This picture shows well the era when bitcoin was not taken seriously. Few understood the potential of this asset at all. As a result, at current prices, the winner received 2 000 times less than the loser. Cheesy

Bitcoin is a digital property that is constantly growing in value. Take care of it, because in 10 years those few million satoshi that you once received somewhere, even on this forum, can turn into a very impressive amount.

That's a clever title for this post. Bitcoin indeed makes the loser a winner if we look at it from that perspective.
I have seen this picture earlier may be on this forum or some other and it had also mentioned that the person who received the bitcoins sold it to buy something for himself.
But I hope not everyone of them sold all of it and some would have saved at least some of it.
I can't imagine how many more scenarios similar to this would be posted on this forum 10 years from now. There might be hundreds of stories.

Wagering is a requirement to withdraw bonuses on any casino. I am  wondering if you made an initial deposit or you tried withdrawing based on the bonus you got upon registration. Bitcointalk is just a forum to save you from illegal casinos and ensure trust between casinos and gamblers. Ensure to wager the 0.1etc requirement and follow the rules so you can be served better

OP had claimed the bonus by entering the promocode on the site and then received the bonus.
Then he tried to withdraw the bonus without depositing anything which is why he was facing the issue.
But the has got the amount withdrawn long ago with the help of this post he mad on the forum.
