2621  Economy / Speculation / Re: does the increasing number of altcoins have a negative impact on the price btc on: February 19, 2023, 12:32:02 AM
Yes and No!

For starters we need to understand that for the crypto economy to grow, bitcoin alone can not do it unless with the support of other altcoins which compliment Bitcoins weaknesses like slower transaction times, and known support for tokens on its chain...

Also on the other hand the same altcoins we have are just too many on the market such that they do what bitcoin does nothing special about them and in a way siphone Bitcoins true value potential away.

The increasing number of altcoins will of course reduce the bitcoin marketcap, 5 years ago the bitcoin marketcap was more than 60%, but now there is only about 32% left, especially after the presence of several stable coins which have now beaten bitcoin's daily transaction volume, but the other side is that bitcoin is still be king and I'm sure it will last for a long time.
But these numbers alone don't show the true story, 5years ago it might have been bitcoin versus 500 altcoins but today it's btc against 2000 coins which means even if bitcoin gets stronger the number of altcoins on the market will bring Bitcoins dominance down.
2622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is ok to sell your Bitcoin. on: February 18, 2023, 08:09:48 PM
I've been in this crypto space for a while now and there is this mentality instilled in people that seems selling ones coin is bad and one is heading to failure which is very wrong at least from my perspective.
Selling is not a bad idea if you are selling at a premium to make some profits, isn't this the whole reason of holding as well Roll Eyes Wait for the cow to be fattened then sell it when its ready Huh

I've always been on the track that investing in Bitcoin simply means buying low and selling high,  which I think is one of the keys to success in the crypto Industry.
This is bitcoin 101 and I believe this is a hodlers rule book demands, but looking at this from a traders perspective I think the markets will generally speak to us, for example, if say expectational order flow suggests price will continue on a bullish trajectory then, by all means, find good discounted prices to buy from before the bull is exhausted....

I always tell people that the moment you buy at a certain price and it starts rising possibly to a price that you feel ok and contented with, then you should feel free and confident to sell atleast to get the profit first and always use stop loss just incase the price drops, rather than having a little portion of Bitcoin and letting it get liquidated just because you want to preach and prove HODLing, trying not to feel odd.
Agree with you, lets not try to showoff when the agenda is to withdraw, not doing so means holding on to our losses for a very long time...

Let taking out profits become a habit and not some punishment.

So my question is:
~ Do people hodl just because others are HODLing?
~ Why do people hodl rather than sell and buy again when low
~ What is your major reason for HODLing and how do your survive the bear market?
I think it should be stated that we have two kinds of hodling, the buy your coins now then comeback after a few years to check on your assets and the other kind which is treated like a trading pair which is also the more risky one has your position can be liquidated .

Of the two types when bitcoin started off people bought held made profits and others copied, today its more about what the markets are currenntly doing.
2623  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Has someone tried to use ChatGPT to help in trading? on: February 18, 2023, 07:29:16 PM
Am not really a fan of trading bots because everyone knows they lag, but for my research I did make use of YouTube to get some answers and the numbers are disturbing!!

How the heck can a trading bot have 30,000% profit or 42,000% profit and you are out there telling the world you have the recipe to success this topic of ChatGPT is turning out to be a scam.... Though the best I have gathered is the the bot suggesting the best possible strategies to trade or use indicators which sounds more realistic than ChatGPT doing the trades itself.
2624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I asked - Which country is best suited to adopt Bitcoin in 2023? on: February 18, 2023, 05:06:49 PM
I think adoption of bitcoin at this point should be about the numbers, we appreciate the smaller countries giving crypto the nord but now it should be about the "Big" numbers. Say if China gave bitcoin the green light all out this will be an instant bullish reaction to this news and that's what we await!

El Salvador has not seen the expected success. It has been documented that adoption from the bottom-up, such as from the streets, is more effective, as seen in the Bitcoin jungle or Bitcoin lake.
El Salvador might be a case of lack of numbers that are ready to adopt this technology and I think the general population isn't that tech savvy too.

2626  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 18, 2023, 01:54:51 PM
Dont like what am seeing, here I was thinking Arsenal would come out guns blazing after that hard-fought battle against Mancher city that saw them drop 3 whole points, and now traveling to Villa Park they are already chasing the game  Huh Another goal from Aston Villa that will be a the end for the Gunners!

Edit: Zinchenko gets one back and game is tied 2-2 and the 2nd half looks better for Arsenal hope i can get a point for the pool  Tongue

^ So right, individual errors gave City the win and you just can't do that. The first goal I actually missed, but the second one? Trying some fancy backpass with City players hovering around you on the edge of your box? That's irresponsible.
That game had Arsenal written all over it, they played better in all areas and possession showed their team effort but the pressure was too much from the citizens, guess they were overwhelmed with the fact of winning the premier league...next course of action push the premier league to dock city's points  Grin
2627  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 5000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: February 18, 2023, 01:44:06 PM
There goes the ATP question for most of us as Tsitsipas got eliminated and looking at the current odds we could potentially see Medvedev and Sinner reaching the finals.

I'll be needing Team Giannis to step up in the all-star game this weekend so they could save me from losing a crucial point in the h2h matchup.  Cheesy
Lol I known right....

When I looked at the name I really thought this would have been one of those walkovers and possibly get a six-love along the way. but these lesser known guys always carry a punch in them and Tsitsipas got to be shown the door and went on to win against former champion Wawrinka  Shocked this lad seems to be the real deal!

At this point I see a champion coming from either of the two players playing against each other (Medvedev vs Dimitrov).

2628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 18, 2023, 09:42:54 AM
I guess Lionel Messi and his father already know the future club that Messi would want to consider moving to and definitely wouldn't like to disclose such as he still have some time left before his contract expires.
His a professional, he needs not to alarm the situation as it already is, besides too many locker room drama has been brewing at PSG and I think renewing of his contract is off the table... I suppose the new MLS is Saudi Arabia and the boys are ready to spend on this germ of a player.

However, I would love to see Lionel Messi leave PSG at the expiration of his contract and to consider a move to England. He needs not waisting much of his time playing at PSG as the trios MNM isn't working out fine for the entire club.
England requires too much hardwork and I don't think he will be able to compete at that level... Before we get ahead of ourselves, who will be willing to put in the big money for this Lad.. Newcastle Huh
2629  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do if bitcoin crash? on: February 17, 2023, 09:02:26 PM
I think most here will agree with me that a bitcoin crash isn't their first rodeo and anything like this to come won't shake them either..

If you must know bitcoin is like riding a bike.. you fall off it get up and get back right on it and continue the journey... It's all about not having a quitters mindset!

Besides bitcoin is cyclical in nature and a crash or is it a dip is very normal as this helps it build the momentum to moon.
2630  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: February 17, 2023, 06:25:21 PM
For an automobile cutting down carbon emissions by 100 percent is not possible, best if they said cutting down Co2 we shall buy this!

Btw there are other components of electric cars that will always emit this element talk about tires these will always have a carbon footprint , besides an increase in electric vehicles on the road means more pressure on electricity generation which means fossil fuels will still be burnt to try and produce more of this, but for the sake of the next generation...we have to support the cause as doing nothing we cause more damage and its best to try with something one step at a time till will get to the zero emissions Roll Eyes

2035 is not too far away. It’s 12 years away. I don’t think the EU could totally eliminate petrol and diesel fueled vehicles in that amount of time.
I thought this isn't enough time for car manufacturers to sell all vehicles they have in inventory and also allow their research departments to find ways to build these electric cars cost effectively while making a profit...well only time will tell if this deadline can be met.
2631  Economy / Economics / Re: does bitcoin help in your economy? on: February 17, 2023, 04:34:50 PM
there are many people investing in bitcoin, some are profitable and some are losing. and I believe bitcoin has a big advantage. The question is whether when you benefit from bitcoin, you can help your economy and your family?
In some way I can say I do contribute to growing my economy as I use my btc funds to purchase goods and services that have taxes attached to them.
But unfortunately if these funds go to say gambling or trading then there is no way it will benefit. So basically If I win and spend locally , then the economy gets to win too Smiley.

I believe other country that has an active crypto transaction and law helps their economy because people use Bitcoin as investment through trading and holding which government get tax on it.
These are the countries with sober minded people that know what's best for the government coffers and the people, and in such can motivate its citizens to send more of their crypto funds unlike spending our coins in hiding...very commendable move!

2633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantage of holding Bitcoin in time of crisis on: February 17, 2023, 03:27:10 PM
Agree with the OP, in this digital age we are living in, we can't leave things to chance...

We need to have contingency plans to avoid being stranded should a crisis come, like is the case with turkey & syria..

and fortunately, cryptocurrencies are the answer to all this which should be an eye opener to all, just unfortunate it had to happen in a way that disrupts people's lives.

Bitcoin is the best alternative way to save money, with Bitcoin you have control over your savings because it's your wallet and your key and you are your banks!
In such a scenario, bitcoin isn't a bad choice, the only downside of it is that your financial position isn't really protected from volatility and times of a bearish market but still remains a better option than keeping money in fiat which becomes inaccessible when infrastructure is destroyed by nature etc.
2634  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting fraud in Brazil 😦 on: February 17, 2023, 03:17:30 PM
With sports betting being a very big business now, match fixing was always going to drag in these smaller leagues as players are poorly paid, teams lack the financial resources to make them better , and the leagues are certainly given less attention which make them the perfect candidate to this fraudulent business.

And those amounts they are paid for a division 2, division 3 tier team was always going to lure plays to be the pawns in this betting syndicate, and only solution is to pay players better otherwise this won't stop anytime soon.
2635  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Will FTX make a comeback? on: February 17, 2023, 12:15:05 AM
The situation of FTX moved from being hacked to the company being declared Bankrupt, to Sam Bankman apparently just misplacing a few billion dollars worth of crypto coins of the exchange which were later found and all this caused fear and panic in the markets to a point of several users moving coins out of different exchanges to avoid the same misfortune from happening to them. With all these events unfolding, this sent markets into a bearish phase, and trusting in exchanges has dwindled.. Now reviving of FTX can never happen, exchanges that have gone this route never return and this is FTXs fate!

The company is now bankrupt, but SBF is trying to bring back customers' trust by "making them whole" again. If FTX pays its customers back, do you think it will rise to glory again?
We all know the answer to this, there is no coming back for FTX, there are certain mistakes that go unforgiven and this is one of them, you don't play with people's money and expect them to give you hugs and kisses on your return, and I hear this lad was also gambling with customers money which shows lack of responsibility and no proper ethics to follow... CEO clearly never set a good example.

Or is it game over for it? I'd be surprised if FTX makes a comeback after so much disappointment from mainstream investors. If it does come back, it's going to need to change its branding just to help gather new investors into it.

What do you think about this? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley
I read some news article a few weeks back that read FTX got a new CEO, who apparently hinted at a comeback of the exchange which is a long shot tbh, they say "once beaten twice shy" customers might get their coins this time but next time all coins will go and never return.
2636  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Merit Game] Let's Educate ourselves on: February 16, 2023, 07:43:14 PM
Wasn't aware that this game got back online, OP was game #3 solved or not, haven't given it a shot to decrypt the message yet.

It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and say the opposite. Sam Levenson
Within 5minutes of the game been posted already solved... that was super quick!
2637  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance to Airdrop $100 to Turkey Earthquake region affected users on: February 16, 2023, 03:39:25 PM
As much as this is a humanitarian gesture, as a business, this kind of news gives them some business mileage in terms of marketing and an open door policy in that country as they came through for the people when help was needed the most.

But for the affected areas, do these people actually have electricity for starters, do they have their phones on them, do the affected turkey people have ids in case they get word of the Binance airdrop will they be able to pass KYC if required ??

Just hoping the Turkey Earthquake victims get the help they deserve and not some users using fake ids to try and be part of the airdrop, kudos  Binance !
2638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Digital Currencies Should Be Adopted Globally on: February 16, 2023, 02:52:14 PM
After seeing what's happening in Nigeria, the riots, running battles with the police as a result of a shortage of cash thanks to new bank policies..
I really feel bitcoin can bridge this gap and ensure such wrangles are avoided once and for all!

We really don't need cash for day-to-day transactions, a simple scan and pay can sort this out with the aid of technology.

The problem politicians don't like to promote mediums that are likely to have a footprint and bitcoin being such an asset can never be adopted globally unless the people (citizens) that hold the real power pursue this motion of adopting cryptocurrencies globally!

Otherwise going the bitcoin route will eliminate problems of cash shortages, cut budgets for the central bank when it comes to the printing of money, transparency and accountability obviously thanks to bitcoins public ledger and many other great benefits.
