Nice video. I like how you took a shot at Silicon Valley Bank there in the beginning.
The animation with the guy standing at the edge of the cliff looks great. Did your team create that or is it from a video game and you just added the Passport in the guy's hand? It looks really well made.
2662  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Most Durable Hardware Wallets on: March 19, 2023, 09:42:59 AM
The idea to test hardware wallets for durability isn't bad in itself. But I don't agree with the notion that a hardware wallet is supposed to be designed to survive fires, water, crashing buildings, and the like. I don't expect that of my laptops, my phones, or my hardware wallets.

I wouldn't buy a hardware wallet for $800 because it can survive being thrown down the stairs. If you asked 1000 people, very few would think that's a good idea and something they expect.

The other thing is, this is completely subjective to the kind of person you are generally and how you take care of your belongings. You posted a picture of a Nano S with a cracked case. That could mean the device uses low quality materials in the building process and/or that you are clumsy and can't keep your stuff in order. That's your HW, do you want to see mine? You can check it in my Show off your hardware wallet thread. It still looks new after several years of usage. My Trezor One is a few months old but in a few years from now, it's still going to look brand-new. Because that's the type of person I am. I don't drop my stuff or hit it with a hammer.

Maybe an electronic component will break in one of them despite me being careful (that's out of my control) but It's not going to have a cracked case like yours. Stop breaking your shit, and the shit will last. Wink

In fact, AFAIK he keeps them: I buy in a little local store owned by another crypto enthusiast. I pay him P2P via LN using Wallet of Satoshi, and I think that I am the only customer who pays him this way.
In that case, it's ok. The two of you have a private deal where you pay with crypto and receive your groceries. I had something completely different in mind the first time I read your post. I thought It's one of those shops that accepts crypto payments on the counter, where they provide you with the address to pay. In most cases, such shops use a payment processor that converts the crypto assets into fiat upon receipt. Since you are sending to the owner from your private wallet to his, there is no fear of anyone asking any questions.

The only danger is if the coins go directly from you into a centralized exchange that might not like your use of Wasabi. But that's also not happening, so you are fine.

2665  Other / Archival / Re: WasabiWallet.io | Open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin Wallet for desktop on: March 18, 2023, 02:00:39 PM
I buy my food in a local store that accepts Bitcoin as a means of payment. As my income comes from the signature campaign, my deposit address is public in this forum, and I don't want the owner of the store to know my virtual identity, I have been using Wasabi for a long time.
It would be interesting to know what kind of payment processor that store you shop at uses? I doubt they keep the crypto or self-host the service through BTCPay Server. Maybe one day those less trustworthy payment processors might consider employing a blockchain analysis company to inform them what coins are "dirty" and "tainted". It would be unfortunate if your BTC was confiscated and you had to do KYC for something like that because they decided that Wasabi is for criminals.

You do want to hide something-- and that's okay. Privacy is exactly that; hiding information from entities you disapprove of. I don't understand why "trying to hide" is negatively interpreted.
Because they have given themselves the right to investigate everything and ask questions of everyone that's different. You know, to protect the people. If you disapprove, you are an enemy of the State that needs to be prosecuted. Or perhaps you are a terrorist, criminal, or child molester trying to hide his nasty habits. This is not me speaking, btw.
2666  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Trust wallet update on: March 18, 2023, 12:18:56 PM
You could try to submit a ticket to their support team and ask them why you are seeing the update notification in your wallet despite using the newest release.
Someone mentioned it could be because they increased the maximum TRX transaction fees associated with the sending of Tron-based tokens. Maybe it's that. Another issue they had which was resolved at the end of February according to their Twitter feed is the failure to sign Litecoin transactions.

Some users experienced the same thing while others didn't. Maybe it depends on the assets you have in your wallet? If Trust Wallet fixes an issue for a coin and notices you have it in your portfolio, maybe you will get the notification.

Is Litecoin and/or Tron (or any of its tokens) in your portfolio?
For those who didn't get a notification, do you have LTC or TRX (and/or its tokens) in your wallet?
2667  Other / Archival / Re: WasabiWallet.io | Open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin Wallet for desktop on: March 18, 2023, 09:54:07 AM
Plus with WasabiWallet, what's the point of being a honey pot? They block transactions from "nefarious sources", and no user from the Darknet Markets, Ransomware Market, or holders of stolen outputs would be stupid to go tumble them through Wasabi.
Because we are now in a place where if we want privacy, we are surely trying to hide something. That's how the ruling classes look at those seeking privacy. Why can't you be more like the rest of the 99% of population that doesn't mind that we (your government) looks into everything you do? Since you are trying to break the history of your coins, we (the caring government) must keep an eye on you. We only do that as a fight against terrorism, money laundering, and because it's a national security issue, obviously.
2668  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Coinomi wallet hacked, all funds stolen on: March 18, 2023, 08:43:30 AM
Actually it's in the ToS that nobody reads. And stated a few other times & places. More or less it boils down to 'we are not responsible for anything'...
That's right. You can find the same things in the terms of centralized exchanges. They use a few different ways for how they call it. For example, "unforeseen circumstances" or "extraordinary situations". Getting your wallet/account hacked is considered an extraordinary situation because the service provider can't do anything about the way you handle your security.

...there are also software wallets that provide good security such as Electrum.
Electrum's cold wallet feature is a good solution. Using Electrum as a hot wallet isn't such a security upgrade if you don't know what you are doing. We don't know how OP lost his coins. Whatever he did with Coinomi, he could have in theory also done with Electrum with the same outcome.

2670  Economy / Gambling / Re: RoyalStarsCasino.com | Crypto Fastest Growing Casino | Best No Wagering of 375% on: March 18, 2023, 08:03:43 AM
No, 5x is the wager that needs to be fullfilled due to money laundering rules. Therefore, this wager (5x) applies also to wager-free bonuses.
Understood, however, other online casinos also follow money laundering rules and their playthrough requirements are between 1-2x. What makes your site unique to require a 5x wagering requirement?

That's why the term "at least" is added to this sentence in the Bonus T&Cs. However, for the wager-free bonuses, as I said, the wager is 5x.
Maybe what you are saying is true and maybe that's how the casino will do it, but your T&C say that the casino reserves the right to apply a rollover requirement of AT LEAST 5x. The terms nullify anything you, me, or anyone else says that might be interpreted differently. The T&C have priority.

So there is no wager free at all since no matter how we twist the words, the requirement to be able to withdraw the bonuses still needs 5x wagering requirement.  Somehow, this kind of things is a turn off for me since it fall under the category of make-belief
No casino will give you a no-wagering bonus that you can simply withdraw and put in your pockets. They would go bankrupt in a week. You have to wager your deposits, so it's normal. No-wagering and no-deposit bonuses are usually small, up to a few dollars, like $10 on signup. With bonuses that aren't wager-free, you also have to wager your winnings. That's not the case here. I am still concerned with the overall wagering requirements though because according to their rules it's 1x, but it can also be 5x or higher if the casino deems it fit.
2671  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Which best for long term investment? Hardware wallet or Software wallet . on: March 18, 2023, 07:42:31 AM
Usually the firmware, that is to say the software embedded into the hardware device is not open source, or only partially at most. It's the most critical part since it holds the seed and the private keys, though.
https://cyberscrilla.com/are-ledger-wallets-open-source/
I understand what you are saying, but you are using the example of a hardware wallet brand that we know isn't open-source. Ledger uses closed-source firmware and hardware, which includes the secure element. I didn't see anything in that article which wasn't known before. We also know that the individual crypto apps on Ledger and the native software itself are open-source. Any developer can build open-source code for an asset and submit it to Ledger as part of their development program.

I never gave much thought to the bootloader question. But that part is apparently also open-source in selected HWs.

That article you shared makes a mistake toward the end though, when they discuss open-source alternatives. One of the brands they name is ColdCard. ColdCard does not use an open-source license. Their code is public and verifiable, but it's their properly, and you are not allowed to use it for your own products. That's completely different from open-source wallets like Trezor, where you can (if you know how) use the entre codebase and build a brand new product.
2672  Economy / Gambling / Re: RoyalStarsCasino.com | Crypto Fastest Growing Casino | Best No Wagering of 375% on: March 17, 2023, 07:36:33 PM
Wagering as high as 5x on players' deposits is not fair for a new casino...
It's not as high as 5x. That makes it sound that the rollover requirements are up to 5x with 5 being the maximum. 5x is the minimum, meaning it's at least five and can be 6, 10, 20, or what the casino deems appropriate.

Here is the thing though. Their main T&C mention that the wagering requirements are 1x.
Quote
Please note that you have to wager deposited funds in a 1:1 ratio.
https://www.royalstarscasino.com/en/info/terms-and-conditions

But a few sentences later, they say the same thing as in their Bonus T&C.
Quote
We reserve the right to apply a wagering requirement of at least 5 (five) times the deposit amount at our sole discretion...

I would like to know why that is and what it depends on? And how can I trust a casino that has a 1x wagering requirement, but has every right to say, sorry Pmalek, you are gonna have to wager your coins 5 more times because we feel like it?
2673  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Which best for long term investment? Hardware wallet or Software wallet . on: March 17, 2023, 07:25:02 PM
Moreover they are not open source, so you'll never know if there are backdoors or latent vulnerabilities into them, that will be discovered and used by someone one day.
What part of them are not open-source? There are many open-source hardware wallets on the software side. There aren't many on the hardware level, though. I think Foundation's Passport is the only one with open-source hardware, except the secure element. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I am not sure how far Trezor has gone with the development of their almost fully open-source SE. But if the openness of hardware is a problem, we shouldn't use laptops, PCs, or phones for anything related to personal or financial data, but we still do.

I would add that even if a manufacturer is reputed, there is no guarantee it will always stay honest (look the Coldkey case for example)
But that was a case of trusting an individual and believing they were honest, which they weren't. Plus, the Coldkey isn't a hardware wallet. It's a card-like paper wallet where someone else generated the keys for you and kept backups of them.
2674  Other / Archival / Re: WasabiWallet.io | Open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin Wallet for desktop on: March 17, 2023, 07:12:12 PM
I wouldn't be surprised if authorities try to shut down Wasabi in future...
I don't think it's high up on their priority list. Wasabi's resume shows a willingness to cooperate if needed or even voluntarily before it is needed. I am saying that because they claimed no one was putting pressure on them or asking that they introduce restrictive measures. The problem is, the coins their blockchain analysis partner tags as clean, get tagged as dirty on some centralized exchanges who have their own rules what is tainted and what isn't. Your dirt is dirtier than my dirt.
2675  Economy / Gambling / Re: RoyalStarsCasino.com | Crypto Fastest Growing Casino | Best No Wagering of 375% on: March 17, 2023, 07:02:09 PM
What does it mean when you say in your Terms & Conditions that the no-wagering welcome bonus is not withdrawable and remains sticky? When the player requests a withdrawal, the bonus will be forfeited. I am talking about point 2.5 of your Bonus T&C.
As an example: I deposit $100, claim the no-wagering bonus and have a total of $475. I wager my deposits 5x (or whatever you deem fit), and then when I want to withdraw, you remove the matched bonus ($375) from my account. Can you explain this in more details?

If I understood correctly, you can apply any wagering requirement you feel like for any deposits to the casino? That seems a bit weird.

If it's "at least 5 times", then what is the standard norm?

To people who do not believe I am innocent, I can prove everything to you in 5 minutes in a call. I can prove to you they are lying and have zero proof of any of their claims, which are all based on fabricated evidence.
Why would someone need to talk to you privately to see the proof you have? If you have proof you are innocent and the casino is lying, make it public. If you don't want to share it because it contains sensitive information, it doesn't make much sense showing it to an unknown internet person behind a forum username.

Soon everyone will see what frauds Playbetr are.
Why soon, why don't we see it already?

I use an electrum wallet on my desktop, although I'm using it okay because I've been using it for 4 years, as long as it needs to be updated, I update it right away.
Updates rarely fix major vulnerabilities that would result in you losing your crypto unless you install the latest version. It's usually cosmetic changes, new features, speed improvements, etc. It's almost always a user mistake that leads to getting your wallet emptied. Whether you have the newest version or one that is a few months old, you are still using a hot wallet and your keys are online. One slip-up might put your coins jeopardy or worse.

And my password, private key, and the creation of a sign message if needed, I can also do it in the safe.
Safe? Do you mean safely as in a safe way? Your keys are online, it's as simple as that. They would be safer if they were never online and always in a secure device and its chip. Even better, if they were created in a fully offline and airgapped environment.

...but they will still lose in court
Then take them to court and prove your case if you or anyone else thinks they have one.
Personally, I find it impossible to side with the player in this particular case. It would be sad if he was innocent. He took the case to a mediator that ruled against him. That coupled with a record of previous failed mediation attempts and abuses makes it hard for me to think he is innocent. I am sure you won't agree, but that's your opinion.

Tko kaže da DS nije ta glavna riba? Smiley

Baš me zanima šta bi moglo zadesiti kretore BISQa ako jedan dan izraste i postane problem.

Rubbish dirty arbitrage betting is legal and always has been.
Not if the rules and terms and conditions say it's illegal. And point 9.7 in the Playbetr T&C clearly state that arbitrage, together with many other activities, isn't allowed on the casino. You are bound by the rules of the site you use, not what every individual person thinks should be right.

It's true that some fiat sportsbooks don't mind arbitrage betting. You should bet on those that have no problems with it and stay away from sites that do.

@PlayBetr
John Abraham reminded you and I ask a second time: what other mediation sites can the player use?
