I've been thinking about it for the past while, is it useful to have credit cards ? I use my visa for buying things online, but I've been thinking about canceling and trying to use only bitcoins online for making purchases...
not sure how viable this is, has anyone else cancelled credit cards and still make do online ?
Since paypal can withdrawl straight from the chequing account, there is no need imho to use credit cards online. Every time I get a credit card I just max it out and then get annihilated with interest! I wish every site accepted bitcoins...

Dwolla scandal update: Camp BX is not affected by this, and every dollar is accounted for. Hoping the same for other Bitcoin sites! Thank you, Keyur www.CampBX.com+1 for CampBX! Sucks that scandals reduce the bitcoin value, though.

The number listed in the whois is from an Indian cell phone?
Very nice looking neighborhood though, according to Google Earth.
Really? It's my cell phone. Area code 905 is for southern Ontario, where I live. Sweet! I'd rather trust a Canadian than.. anyone else! What sort of insurance does our invested bitcoins have? If you get hacked and lose all the coins, what says we ever get paid?

Maybe we need to stop the trillion dollar war and then we have all the money in the world again? Just my humble opinion.

Bitcoin would collapse under the load far before the entire US economy changed over to bitcoin, let alone the entire world economy. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/ScalabilityAnd, assuming we did somehow make bitcoin about 100x more scalable than it is, sometime before the entire US economy transferred over to it we'd have bitcoin heists which made the recent mtgox hack look like pocket change. Never thought of this. I guess that bitcoin was designed to be a small currency and can not grow that much. I don't think that is bad... I would call it realistic. It hardly needs to be more scalable, it's never going to be the new way of small purchase transactions like VISA, but I think the larger investors will trade the big dollar amounts more frequently than the average McDonald's purchase. There is just too many people using the US dollar to make a serious dent, but you could probably pay off your VISA with bitcoin money. I think people will be using bitcoin as a tax-free bank more than a means of payment.
