If you don't have a gpu card here is a method to start mining giftcoin using digitalocean cloud vps. This will bring you some coins especially in the first days when difficulty is lower. gpu mining is obiously faster, use only if you cannot mine with gpu. this guide also contains my referral link. 1. sign up for a digitalocean account here: https://www.digitalocean.com/?refcode=261c189a4aebDeposit $5 or $10 and add coupon *LINUX13* or *GIT10* to get $10 extra bonus 2. create 4 or 8 cpus droplet - choose Ubuntu 13.04 x64 3. login via ssh (use putty) with your vps login details 4. execute the following commands: sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential libcurl4-openssl-dev
wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/cpuminer/files/pooler-cpuminer-2.3.2.tar.gz
tar -xzf pooler-cpuminer-2.3.2.tar.gz
cd cpuminer-2.3.2/
./configure CFLAGS="-O3"
make
apt-get install screen
screen ./minerd --url stratum+tcp://server:port --userpass worker.name:passwordThat's all! when logging back again use " screen -r" to restore session

And is there a way to know how to solo mine this coin? Or are the devs the only ones that knows?
how does solo mine differ coin to coin ? Let me answer - it does not there is no magic trick when you open the wallet go to console and type "setgenerate true" then type "getmininginfo" for stats you usually don't need a config at beginning, if .conf file provided then edit accordingly good luck!

Sorry, but since 29 of Dez EAC is slowly dropping and dropping, with or withour 2x would have been better to make the x2 and x5 random blocks like with a few other coins
at first I thought it is like that.. Having exact schedule is probably not that good.. but at least it will attract some attention once a while it's free publicity for Eac It's also dump mania right now, I wish I kept my Btc for today, Those who were patient enough to wait to buy are going to get alot of cheap coins today. Keep in mind that a lot of these ''2x miners'' will dump whatever they mine as soon as they get it and move on at the end of the day to mine something else. it's dropping on markets lower than 10 BTC volume... it isn't relevant at all! this coin needed a big market from the beginning, i wonder why they delayed cryptsy so long, hopefully it will still be a good move once added and not too late.. everything is possible, it can climb high or drop like a rock, i still believe it can reach 1500 satoshi, current price is a bad joke

most new alt coins are traps for noobs' money, be careful
|
|
|
for the noobs out there: today a new released coin reaches 1,000 difficulty in 10 mins after launch, so keep your expectations low, too many are jumping at once.

I don't understand why Crypsty has not opened up a EAC market yet. CAT/BTC gets added almost instantly which is a stupid coin that is trying to get some of DOGECOIN's now dying hype.
that coin had the most failed release ever, it wasn't even working properly, errors everywhere, i've stopped mining after 2 hours i'm almost thinking to launch my own coin but do it properly after seeing so many so called attempts too many coins, too much low quality!

once i download the wallet and make a .conf file and put it in the %appdata% then open wallet
what is the command i put to start solo mining?
or how do you solomine?
console -> setgenerate true getmininginfo anyway difficulty will reach 1,000 in 10 mins so don't bother too hard

The news: https://twitter.com/CryptoBoomer/status/417989465689161728Earthcoin/CryptoBoomer is a marketing genius. The best in the business. Big props to you! funny , ive signed up before being even announced here yesterday

^agree and to be honest most of the new cash comes from the noobs, when noobs won't pump anymore on every copycat there will be a problem. quality coins could really make a difference.

this is serious business....its not supposed to be fun. people built big mining farms, putting up their own money, taking on risk. Let the whales swim free, in the end they make networks stronger.
+1 +2 OP smells like socialism to me. Equality of opportunity, which is what mining offers, is not the same as equality of outcome. In fact I can think of very few business opportunities where the small guy with 0.01% of the production capacity for a given coin will, statistical variance aside, receive proportionately the same reward as the big guy with 5% of the production capacity. It's the ultimate free market where those who take the big risks receive big rewards, and those who risk less receive a commensurately lower reward. But it's always proportional. no, don't take it this way. it's just that difficulty has gone so high that if bitcoin was released last month it would have reached the same difficulty it has today. difficulty is still good concept, but not so faaaaaaaast
