Hi everyone,
Coin-Sweeper will be offline for the next hour to undergo some routine maintenance.
Is it up now? And are the deposit/withdrawals instant? Only just saw this question! Deposits are essentially instant and withdraws require 3 confirmations. Gr8 thx, ill try my luck soon.

Hi. Are there any reviews of the ledgerwallet? Yes i heard about bitcointrezor. I wouldn't call it exactly cheap at $120 though. Yes if you have at least 10k worth of btc, $120 seems cheap but overall thats not exactly cheap.
If this is the case why do ppl pay for stuff like wooden wallets when its not much more to pay for ledgewallet then?
You're going to have to do a lot of reading my friend, once you understand the basics you'll then know what wallets are safe and what wallets are not safe even though the seem safe. If you can afford a Trezor, then go for it, if not there are other simpler, cheaper cold storage wallets, for ex: Paper wallets. And remember the paper wallet you create at Blockchain or Coinbase, they're not exactly cold storage.

How would that help?I hink the only time it would be a great idea, would be when you play against other players for bitcoins.
I'm afraid computer bots will always win all bitcoins. True, this is the problem with most skill based games such as chess etc. People would use the fastest bots to steal bitcoins.

Licensed exchanges has to answer the government when they're asked, which is why they have to document every buy and sell.

It's very easy to cheat in this. For ex:
Say at the end you're short 0.2 BTC in THIS address. So to save your 0.2 BTC giving-away you send 0.201 BTC to yourself from your OTHER address.
And the balance is now : 1.001 BTC and you keep the 1 BTC and share the generous amount, which is 0.001.
See what I mean?

Just a random thought, guys, but I may get serious about this. Actually, I'm looking at ways I could pull this off using Wordpress plugins right now. I've been tempted to create a jobs board that's sort of like Freelancer for Bitcoin because, quite frankly, about half of what I've seen is like looking at a train wreck full of scams and places that redirect you to other sites that make you jump through hoops to apply.
A board like that is really needed, where freelancer can work without any troubles and get paid instantly. Go for it.

Ok, what I don't understand is why so many people only own a fraction of a bitcoin - why not buy a whole bitcoin now while the price is so low? If you're an enthusiast enough to be on bitcointalk - you should have at least 5 bitcoin. Or else you don't really believe it will go anywhere.
OMG!! You're so smart. Now I understand, why all those people in Africa and other places around the world are dying of hunger. They don't believe in Food!! Stupid me, always thought that they couldn't afford it.

It's gr8 but I don't see a lot of people using it, maybe because in the end it's like an on-line wallet, so most don't want to put a lot of funds there. I made an acc myself using twitter but didn't recd/send any tips so far.

-snip-
check the src/base58.h file in the source code of the coin in question. It must be available at github as well and the link should be provided by the dev in the coin announcement topic or by other means. If the coin has no publicly available source code then it's not worth to look at this coin at all.
Gr8, I will try to do this and maybe do little tests like create a paper wallet and send a small amount of coins to it then redeem it before putting a big chunk. Thank u so much Thanks

-snip- I completely agree, but unfortunately it's the only one I know of in this format. I just asked today about the way to do paper wallet for Monero and.. at least you have only to run an exe (no install) and you don't have to download the blockchain. Maybe this also helps a little. Here's the response I got: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg9855347#msg9855347I'll try and see if I can do as suggested in the steps. Thx -snip- The only thing you need is to download the source of https://www.bitaddress.org/ site. It could be found as a zip archive here: https://github.com/pointbiz/bitaddress.org/releases. Then find out the address prefix of the coin in question - check the file src/base58.h for PUBKEY_ADDRESS: base58.h- enum base58.h- { base58.h: PUBKEY_ADDRESS = 63, base58.h- SCRIPT_ADDRESS = 24, base58.h: PUBKEY_ADDRESS_TEST = 112, base58.h- SCRIPT_ADDRESS_TEST = 198, base58.h- };
Now unzip the https://www.bitaddress.org/ source zip file to some location and open the bitaddress.org.html file with notepad or any other plain text editor. Find the following line in that file: Bitcoin.Address.networkVersion = 0x00; // mainnet As of release 2.8.1 it is line no 4757Replace the 0x00 in this line with a value you found in the base58.h (with 63 in example provided) Then save the file and reopen it with a webrowser. Enjoy. Edit: Don't forget to send some tips to https://www.bitaddress.org/ 's developer I have the bitaddress source already downloaded from github but how to find the pubkey address of a coin?

I know for sure that Dogecoin has such generators, you can even download the html to do it safely. I don't remember which one I actually used and google.. just gives too many results on that. so just pick one you want I have Dogecoin I am basically trying to buy a bunch of alt-coins but I hate installing so many softwares and I don't want to hold my coins on exchanges. So a paper wallet is a very easy and simple solution but not all alt-coins have that. I plan to put as much as I can on Paper wallets and forget about them.

Any body has a list of alt-coins that can be stored in Paper wallets?
You can store everything in a paper wallet , you have only to make a qr_code of the private key and print it. After deposit it in a safe place . Yeah, I know, edited the OP.

Edit: I know technically any coin can be stored on paper wallets, one can simply print out the keys and store them privately, but you have to download their wallet programs to do that. I am talking about alt-coins that simply have paper wallets like bitaddress.org for bitcoin.

You have to work to get it like others suggested. There is no magical way of making money. So you either work for dollars and then trade them for Bitcoins or you sell your services/products on-line and earn Bitcoin but even then it's very difficult to make 10 Bitcoins in 2 months. Or you can gamble and if you're really lucky like this guy : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=893335.0You might win 15 bitcoins with 0.001 BTC
