2682  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is everyone on ebay completely crazy? on: December 09, 2013, 04:39:31 PM
Prices at ebay are high, when I use mining calculators you cant mine the dollars back unless Bitcoin price rises. I guess everyone speculate on Bitcoin price rise...
2683  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should i pay tax if i receive bitcoins ? on: December 09, 2013, 04:33:55 PM
The question is in subject, also want to clarify that it will be info product - not real goods or something near it.

Only if higher amount, it is the same as you would receive gold instead
2684  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My total logged in time is incorrect on: December 09, 2013, 04:17:42 PM

2685  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It's never too late, right? on: December 05, 2013, 12:51:49 PM
If you mined the 1.4 Bitcoin on GPU earlier, you did well and lucky (now not possible anymore)
2686  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sold under $880, what should I do? on: December 05, 2013, 12:49:02 PM
Playing the market means sometimes profit and sometimes loss, not much funny if you unlucky more often
2687  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do coins get value on: December 05, 2013, 12:38:35 PM
I have always wondered how did bitcoins or any other alt-coins have a monetary value (USD) associated with it?

The more the coin is usefull, the more people want it (thus higher price)

2689  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are all your friends telling you to cash out, too? on: November 28, 2013, 10:44:35 AM
Yes I get these sell now advices from people who dont really understand what Bitcoin is, but 600% increase since I bought makes them experts when I should sell
2690  Economy / Speculation / Re: Possible bitcoin crash catalyst? The rise of altcoins on: November 28, 2013, 10:25:20 AM
Any coin is valuable only as much as its infrastructure is developed (user base, hashing speed, merchant support).
2691  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can i post reply? on: November 28, 2013, 10:13:55 AM

2692  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whats wrong with this forum? on: November 28, 2013, 10:09:45 AM
I signed up on 12th November (hence the name) and have not been able to make 1 post! I log in and try and search and it says "You are doing that too quickly try again in 90 seconds". If I try to post it says wait 360 seconds. Really? Wtf? How does anyone contribute to these forums. I've tried changing my IP and it still doesn't work.

Every higher rank (member status) has lower waiting times. You increase your member status with higher activity (more posts)
2693  Economy / Speculation / Re: sold at $600. what to do? on: November 24, 2013, 12:06:32 AM
Took 0.5 BTC and sold last week at $720. Bought back at $380 and sold again at $450. Bought at $435 and then sold at $580.  Just bought in this week at $633 and sold this morning at $829. Seems like a pretty easy way to increase your coins without actually doing anything...

Except for the one time you sell and the price doesn't go down.

itīs like nl hold'em poker. you can do very well at all those little moves, but one incident of bad luck or mistake can take you all (your coins) out

Not true.
You can reduce the profit with bad trading. But when you never buy high and sell low, you'll allways increase your wealth. Possible not in BTC, but in total fiat+btc.

But in the example above and always selling all, he might never rebuy BTC back after $580 sell. So he is plus with fiat, but missing oppurtunity with BTC future
2694  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you have any doubts about BTC's short, medium, or long-term viability? on: November 23, 2013, 11:57:47 PM
I think more important than bitcoin is the idea which is in all of our heads now, the idea that we don't need the state for money anymore.
I think you need to have some authority that limits the number of different cryptocurrencies. BTC has all the momentum right now, but if you're like me, you should be worried about a future with thousands of equal cryptocurrencies, and new ones being created daily. This would go against the very idea of a limited supply, because in such case, the monetary unit wouldn't be BTC any more. It would be "a cryptocoin".

About half year ago new alternative cryptocurrencies started to pop up daily, and proved the main value coin have is the number of users using it. You may create alt coin youselves with not much effort to add new one to the zoo Smiley

Litecoin is a copy of Bitcoin with only a few changes and came out after Bitcoin, it doesn't offer any big advantage.
In theory Litecoins could be just as useful as Bitcoins, but there are only few reasons to migrate to them.
Not true. The dollar value right now makes me want to buy LTC more than BTC.

Nice to hear, I might publish another new alt coin tommorow, you may buy a lot of these coins for just 1 LTC. Hopefully you do  Wink
2696  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you know the felling when...? on: November 23, 2013, 11:38:07 PM
Do you know the felling when some random kids choose to knock on your door and run away?

Yes especially when I sleep at day after night shift and some bastard (doesnt need to be a kid) knock on my door
2697  Economy / Speculation / Re: whats happening? on: November 19, 2013, 04:54:05 PM
Whats going on ?
btw 500 dollars is a very good stable price after the chinese invested allot. Now slowly rise to 1k over 6 mounths please.

This is very pessimistic, btcchina still around $1000 USD
Other exchanges might hit $1000 USD today as well

2700  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What happens if 2 people generate the same bitcoin wallet address? on: November 19, 2013, 04:36:13 PM
i belive it has happend once and only once so far. im not sure if it was true or not but there where threads about it some time ago.. anyhow if you generated 1000 bitcoin addresses a second for a million years i think it works out at a 50% chance so yeh not very likely

Nope, you need much more than that. If you generated 1000 bitcoin addresses a second for a million years you would have still about 0% chance. Oterwise it could be done just on one GPU in one year, when I generate vanity addresses it tries 20 million addresses per second
