Atheists rely on data scientists, and religion is just a fairy tale at what is not logical. Religion is the opium of the people.

Science theory is not fact. Atheists and theists who believe science theory to be true, believe a fairy tale. If they believe it strongly, they have a religion going for themselves. For example, our present theory of gravity is wrong.

A new paper claims our understanding of gravity is totally wrong

Quote
A theoretical physicist has come up with a new hypothesis that could finally explain the mystery of dark matter - the elusive matter that's predicted to make up around 27 percent of the observable Universe.

According to the new paper, all we have to do to explain the weird effects of dark matter in the Universe is take gravity out of the equation.

"Our current ideas about space, time, and gravity urgently need to be re-thought. We have long known that Einstein's theory of gravity can not work with quantum mechanics", the author the new paper, Erik Verlinde from the University of Amsterdam, told Dutch news site NOS.

"Our findings are drastically changing, and I think that we are on the eve of a scientific revolution."

The dark matter problem stems from the fact that there's more gravity in our Universe - especially in our galaxies - than can be produced by all the matter and gas that we see.

Traditionally, physicists have explained this inconsistency by assuming that there must be something else out there that we can't see, something dark - hence the name dark matter.

Okay, everybody, it's time to inform you all that BADecker, BobLawblaw and I have been keeping a secret. Here's the video explaining what's going to happen starting next week: NASA confirms Earth will experience 15 days of darkness in November 2016.

Even though it's on YouTube, ergo it must be true, the first two of B,B&B (I'm the third B) will avow its true unless opting to not publicly announce, which is their prerogative. Be prepared! Get batteries for your flashlights.

15 days of darkness spread over 30 nights.    Cool
26923  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: November 09, 2016, 02:57:27 PM

Guns are made for one purpose, and that purpose is to kill.
I believe that guns are not weapons, they are tools. How they are used is up to the person holding it.
Guns are especially dangerous in the hands of people who don't know how to use them (i.e., kids and teenagers) as well as those who are mentally ill and/or have a temper problem.
Gun control will not stop violence because a violent person doesn’t need a gun to be violent.
After the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, support for gun control increased dramatically.

Generally in America, the support for gun control has outweighed the support for gun rights.
Are gun control laws constitutional?
What would be your ideal set of laws regarding firearms?

Yes I highly agree but it really depends on the owners perspective.  Killing isnt good but if ur doing this for a self defense purposes i dont see any problem with that.  And besides people nowaday espc those who were in drugs doing something out of the norms that might harm everyone of us.  So yes gun is really needed but one thing is fpr sure if u use this it may also the cause of ur death.

YES I agree, Gun was made to kill. That's why gun is not for a citizens. Maybe just one in one million peoples still alive when they are hitted by a gun. Even if they are not die, they will goes to hospital.

Gun not hit anybody. Maybe bullet hit. Gun not hit.     Grin

Wrong. In the Beginning there was everything. Then, God created separation of the everything so that the appearance of nothing came about. After all, even  the Bible says that with God nothing shall be impossible.

Fuckin hell Coincube - why didn't you just post a link to William James' "Varieties of Religious Experience" and be done with it ? For someone who purports to be a doctor of medicine you seem to have a lot of time on your hands. I can't see too many junior doctors in the UK, even if they had the inclination for this shit, actually finding the time for it.

You are for real aren't you Coincube ?

Please don't be too hard on Coincube. I probably wouldn't have looked if all there was was a link. It was a very interesting article. Benefits to the social animal by socializing in religious atmosphere.

Cool

I take it you did not like the article practicaldreamer? I will admit I did not look too deeply into the data behind the article but it was written by a professor of epidemiology at Harvard so my assumption is that the data is reliable. Here is the educational background of the author if you want further info.

https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/tyler-vanderweele/

Education: Tyler VanderWeele Professor of Epidemiology

Ph.D. (Biostatistics) 2006, Harvard University
A.M. (Biostatistics) 2005, Harvard University
M.A. (Mathematics) 2005, University of Oxford
M.A. (Finance and Applied Economics) 2002, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania
B.A. (Philosophy and Theology) 2000, University of Oxford
B.A. (Mathematics) 2000, University of Oxford

The topic of the article is the relationship between attending religious services and health so it is very much on topic for this thread.

You describe the good professors article as "this shit" so I am assuming you have some problem with the article independent of your kind concerns about my limited free time.

Yes. These days you can find all kinds of benefits listed just from meditating. So, when you add meditating with friends, so that there is comfort in mutual support of ideals, the benefits should be a lot greater. And that is to say nothing about the special benefits that God might bestow on those who worship Him during/within their meditation.

You will have to get rid of a lot more of your foolishness before you will be able to see clearly to do anything.

Cool

Still here replying to this hopelessly atheist? Don't you have a "holy mass" waiting for you in your local church?
Are you still convinced that you will deceive me, eventually? Save some dignity, stop playing with me, you won't win this race!

Nobody could deceive you. You are caught up in your own self-deception so deeply that there isn't room for anyone else.

You know her that well, that you know she will die in the name of Jesus? Why don't you send her some aid since you know her that well? You hypocrite.

How do you know that I'm not helping those poor kids already? Are you omniscient? Are you your god?
You would have said something long ago.

Looks like she will die shortly. If she does, she will have all the joys of Heaven in the afterlife, joy forever and ever.

Looks like your god put her on earth just to see her suffer and die. How lovely sadic is your god.
God placed her here for her own benefit and for His glory, just like he does with all people. Then wicked men make trouble for people. But God's glory will become even more glorious when He saves His people in the last day.

But you, if you don't change, will get punishment far greater than hers if she goes to Hell. Because you had chance to change, but didn't, while she didn't have any opportunity. In addition, her sins at this young age are few, while yours at a much older age are many.

Cool

I would never love a sadic murderer like your god seems to be, but luckily it's all a fairy tale... pff, risk avoided!  Grin

Now you are calling the loving God who is saving us all, some bad things. He is willing to forgive you in His love for you. But you will have to change and be on His side for that to happen.

You take written words too much seriously, don't you? Maybe this is why you believe your holy book so blindly!

You don't realize, do you, that by promoting unbelief in Jesus salvation, you are promoting evil in the world. So, it is more greatly your fault than Christians that she is being harmed.

Cool

This doesn't change her destiny: she will die in the name of jesus because your god isn't helping! Simple!
Maybe you can pray your god to save her life... do you think he will? How?

But why? Here I am, completely friendly and loving towards you, trying with all my strength to get you into Heaven and eternal life, and all you can say is bad things about me.

Why?

Cool

Heaven, eternal life etc. don't exist... so you're wasting your time, and mine. And because my time is precious, this makes me badmouth you.  Angry

So, you keep on wasting your time on me just so you can badmouth me for wasting your time? Sounds like atheist logic to me.

Cool

I'm trying to save you from the eternal lockup in the psychiatric ward, but this is turning way much difficult than I was expecting.
Here comes the freedom of choice: I will let you in the - not so friendly - hands of the doctors... at least I've tried. Have a nice stay!

Too bad old George will be burning in Hell following the Judgment, if his attitude toward God on stage is the way he truly believed at death.

Right. I wouldn't want you folks to go on with your religion without having a sufficient number of high priests.

“Extra’s” AJ Calloway recently hung out with presidential candidate and Ohio’s Gov. John Kasich at our H&M Studios, where he playfully went into damage-control mode after being caught eating pizza with a knife and fork.

He poked fun at the incident, saying, “...and the real question is... did I use that fork on that pizza just to get attention? And I’m gonna reveal that in my memoirs.”

When AJ offered him a slice of pizza, he took a bite and joked, "I know how to eat pizza. I’ve been eating it before you were born.”
