Rand: Our Founding Fathers Would Be Mortified By NSA

WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — Republican Sen. Rand Paul lashed out against the federal government’s sweeping surveillance programs on Wednesday, staking an aggressive position on an issue already dividing the Republican presidential field. The libertarian-leaning Kentucky Republican, who launched a White House bid earlier in the month, noted that members of his own party support programs that allow the National Security Agency to collect the phone records of millions of Americans. “Our Founding Fathers would be mortified,” Paul said during an awards ceremony hosted by the Constitution Project, a Washington think tank.

[Love this next part]

The federal government’s surveillance programs could play prominently in the GOP presidential primary contest, which is heating up just as Congress debates surveillance programs initiated by President George W.Bush’s administration and continued under President Barack Obama. In a Tuesday radio interview, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who is expected to run for the GOP nomination, praised the Obama administration’s use of “big metadata programs” that began under Bush’s older brother.

“There has been a continuation of a very important service,” Bush said. “The first obligation, I think, of our national government is to keep us safe. And the technologies that now can be applied to make that so, while protecting civil liberties, are there.”

EXCLUSIVE — RAND PAUL: OBAMA WHITE HOUSE, CONGRESS SHOULD BOTH CONSIDER INVESTIGATING HILLARY

Paul, who was previously briefed on the findings of the forthcoming Peter Schweizer book Clinton Cash, said:

This really has been the particular case of the Clinton Cash that bothers me the most and that should bother voters the most. We now have a uranium company that is control of 20 percent of the uranium mining in North America—that’s owned by the Russians. This deal had to be approved by Hillary Clinton and it turns out that the stockholders in that company gave $145 million to Hillary Clinton’s foundation. I can’t imagine how she could be a part of the decision-making process while she received so much money in her foundation—$145 million.

It's definitely true and obvious that living in a small state w/ an increasingly concentrated and growing libertarian community like NH via the Free State Project is more ideal for someone that cares about ever having the chance to reduce govt retain liberties that have been lost in more authoritarian states.

All things else being equal, people need to become precinct delegates in their state in one of the major parties and then you have a lot more say at county, district and state conventions over party nominees, district and state cmtepersons, and district and state party leadership. Where I live, each state convention has about ~2500 delegates showing up and then alternates are elevated to delegate status as needed compared to the rest of the 8 million voting population at general elections or less than half that in the primary. So if you're an elected delegate (as I am), your voting power prior to the primary is roughly on in 2500ish and you're typically more around other delegates and can influence others w/ similar status to leverage your weight even further. Or, you can just be that one voter out of the millions and the OP's thesis is spot on.

Very interesting that is a scar high number.  I wish we knew if these were savers early or late in thier career.

If it is savers late in their career very scary indeed.  They won't get that amazing compounding interest.
I presume you're being facetious as there's no such thing as compounding interest anymore when inflation, even if we go by the govt's numbers, is 4+ times more than the former. The would need to lift interest rates to help savers but then the whole system collapses as the interest on the debt payments would swallow up major portions of defense, entitlements and discretionary spending each year. There's no way the MIC would allow anything more than a minute cut in their funding operations and as we can all see, they and their politicians create havoc abroad that justifies more and more funding and boobus just goes along with it. You could make a modest cut in entitlements but they don't want to upset the parasite/leisure class too much as that's how they buy votes. It's like a major catch-22.
2705  Other / Politics & Society / Almost a Third of Retirement Savers Don't Have $1000 in US on: April 23, 2015, 05:45:58 PM
Study after study shows that Americans are not saving for retirement like they should, and a new survey finds that nearly one third of people who have some sort of savings plan have amassed less than $1,000 for retirement.

The survey titled “Preparing for Retirement in America,” by Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) and Greenwald and Associates, finds that only 65 percent of workers have any savings for retirement, a number that fell below the 75 percent figure from 2009.

But 28 percent of workers report that they have saved less than $1,000 for retirement, and almost 6 in 10 Americans say that their financial planning needs improvement.

Additionally, 34 percent say they have made no effort at all to saving anything or make a retirement plan. Still, most say that they intend to start saving at some point.

Bill Clinton Cashed In When Hillary Became Secretary of State

After his wife became Secretary of State, former President Bill Clinton began to collect speaking fees that often doubled or tripled what he had been charging earlier in his post White House years, bringing in millions of dollars from groups that included several with interests pending before the State Department, an ABC News review of financial disclosure records shows.

Where he once had drawn $150,000 for a typical address in the years following his presidency, Clinton saw a succession of staggering paydays for speeches in 2010 and 2011, including $500,000 paid by a Russian investment bank and $750,000 to address a telecom conference in China.

“It’s unusual to see a former president’s speaking fee go up over time,” said Richard Painter, who served as chief ethics lawyer in the White House Counsel’s office under President George W. Bush. “I must say I’m surprised that he raised his fees. There’s no prohibition on his raising it. But it does create some appearance problems if he raises his fee after she becomes Secretary of State.”

The Disastrous Clinton Post-Presidency
...

The New York Times has a report about the State Department’s decision to approve the sale of Uranium mines to a Russian company that donated $2.35 million to the Clinton Global Initiative, and that a Russian investment bank promoting the deal paid Bill $500,000 for a speech in Moscow.

The Washington Post reports that Bill Clinton has received $26 million in speaking fees from entities that also donated to the Clinton Global Initiative.

The Washington Examiner reports, “Twenty-two of the 37 corporations nominated for a prestigious State Department award — and six of the eight ultimate winners — while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State were also donors to the Clinton family foundation.”

And Reuters reports, “Hillary Clinton's family's charities are refiling at least five annual tax returns after a Reuters review found errors in how they reported donations from governments, and said they may audit other Clinton Foundation returns in case of other errors.”

His opponents might use this against him (especially Hillary). They will claim that he is linked to the online drugs trade, and that is why he is supporting BTC. Considering that 90% of the Americans are ignorant about BTC, it will be very hard for Rand to counter these arguments.
I welcome her or whomever making an issue out of Bitcoin in this election. The amount of free publicity would be epic.

On a related note, all other candidates were quoted as saying "A bit-what?"  Grin
Pretty much yeah. The others, both republican frauds and their buddies in the drone-idiot party, are not willing to at least pay any lip service to our landscape. Get it? Even lefty leaning foreigners of whatever country need to realize that the crapshoot of America needs the likes of Rand Paul for his acceptance of Bitcoin and a realist/normal foreign policy that isn't raping the rest of the world. If you're here and worth your marbles, you're for Rand Paul for US President in 2016. Help out however you can in your respective areas.

I agree that cutting the government is good, but cutting foreign aid and increasing to the defence budget by 16% doesn't sound much like "a realist/normal foreign policy that isn't raping the rest of the world" to me.

And pro-life, and against same-sex marriages doesn't sound too libertarian either.

edit: I'd like to see him gain influence enough to force the other candidates to adopt something from his pro-bitcoin policy
Defending the country is arguably the most important function of the US Gov and the way things are in the republican party and the buildup of the ISIS group by past idiotic or purposeful foreign policy moves, the sentiment remains to keep increasing the military budget. Rand proposed offsetting this extra funding by cutting elsewhere which his competitors in the GOP weren't going for, so he was trying to separate himself from the rest as in - who is the real fiscal hawk.

When it comes to social issues, I suspect he's trying to stake out a middle ground to not lose appeal from evangelicals which you'll need if you make it to the general election. Many of them stayed home for Romney and McCain before him.

muammar gaddafi was a great man who modernised libya and even managed to civilise the black savages somewhat which the arabs couldnt after 1000 years. you could say this refugee invasion europe is currently suffering is its penalty for murdering him.

I wouldn't say that Gaddafi was a great man. But still, he did a lot of good things for the Libyans. And the Europeans should also thank him for limiting the refugee flow through Libya. His vision was a unified and progressive Africa, just like the European Union. The world powers were not in favor of that idea.

Add to that his vision of a pan-African gold-backed currency, and you can see why the Western powers had to put his head into a freezer.
Yep, mess around with the US dollar and that's when team usa come running after you. When the first inkling of trouble came from abroad, I'm surprised that Gadaffi just didn't pack up and relocate himself to Cuba, North Korea or some other place where he's had alliances w/.
2714  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many of you signature campaign posters sell your coins once you received it? on: April 23, 2015, 03:38:26 AM
I don't earn much with signature campaigns lately, but I have received a nice amount of 0,x BTC from earlier Primedice signature campaigns.

I have not sold a single Satoshi of them. I stacked a part of these coins, bought some Steam games with another part, traded a small part for altcoins (in order to short-term trade a bit) but lost most of them in an ASIC scam.

That's because you're sticking w/ bitmixer, you can earn ten times more w/ bit-x but I'm not sure if they've got any openings at the moment - tho I could be wrong and you should look into it.
I think most people will be dropped from the bit-x campaign since Marco is working on new campaign stuff to be released in a few weeks. Only the active guys like quickseller and redsn0w will get to stay for the few weeks ( I think)
I see your point but I'm pretty much the most active poster on that situation but Marco hasn't said much to me about any changes. I know he's doin below avatar pics which I'm not interested at this point, simply because my account is way too valuable to me than the extra BTC that is offered for it and I won't scrub my avi for it. Not doing it. If I was entertaining that then I might as well sell this account and any buyers would freakout at the cost at this point. But, I'm always entertaining offers. It's been a long while so that's what you're paying for if that's what you want. The other thing is that I own the Rand thread (which will continue to be notable and a moneymaker via many postings to it that needs to be kept up with more fresh postings during and from Rand's campaign trail = everyday is chock full of free posts if you know where to look and i can give ya the hint for a bonus or in a package, if I were to entertain such a thought) that I keep live so that's up your alley too. Between my posting info and Bit-X,  I am a big dog poster and to get up on my account would mean you'd need to do something similar. Go high, I might take an interest. In the mean time, the posting ops are groovy.

[Video] The truth about Rand Paul

Yall gotta check out this KY black pastor who debuted during Rand's announcement speech in the intro. You can't not enjoy it, it's so good. This is the promo video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=25&v=M-SJ4fQwOMI

And this is the pastor's speech on opening day. Mind you, he was a democrat w/ a decent following prior to going indy and getting on the Randtrain. Here's his intro speech prior to Rand taking the stage on the announcement day.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfZBHf-PbwQ

If you watch either you'll see how great this preacher can be for Rand in KY and the networking effect across the country and/or this guy is a powerful speaker and you can't help to want him on your side. Smiley I'm not super religious but this vid will move you on some level.

McCain: Paul ‘Worst Possible Candidate,’ Cruz Would Be Better

Shortly after responding to Rand Paul calling him an Obama “lapdog,” Senator John McCain talked further about the swipe with Fox’s Neil Cavuto. And McCain really came out swinging, declaring that “Senator Paul is the worst possible candidate, of the 20 or so that are running, on the most important issue, which is national security.”

He said that Paul has been way more wrong about foreign policy and dismissed the suggestion that his call for arming the Syrian rebels would have ended up aiding terrorist groups.

Cavuto asked McCain if he really thinks Paul is the worst, and McCain affirmed that yes, he does. And while he would support the Republican nominee no matter what, he said he hopes “good sense would prevail here.”

McCain even went so far to say that Ted Cruz, a candidate he doesn’t particularly see eye-to-eye on, would do a better job than Paul.

Ted Cruz is the bad guy faux good guy. His wife, Heidi, is his giveaway. She is a Managing Director for Goldman Sachs and on the Council of Foreign Relations. AKA she is a NWO Stooge, which puts the Canadian Presidential Candidate on the same level. Fuck Ted Cruz.

In March she took a paid leave to help her husband get elected.

Yep, I'm aware of all of this but I do think Cruz is the best besides Rand, tho I do think he's the foil to Rand's chances in some instances. Him getting a $31 mill in PAC funding tells me that. I hope you all rally w/ me to support Rand and the best thing that natives can do is to donate to his campaign.
