2701  Economy / Economics / Re: Is gold better than Bitcoin? on: May 31, 2016, 02:34:41 AM
No gold is not better than the bitcoin because with gold it take ages to make profit and with the bitcoin you can make such nice profits if you ask me on a short and long term period.

Try trading paper gold, you'd be suprised how volatile it is. Hard (for me) to time, but the profit is there if you can take it. Mining company (precious metals and rare earths) stocks are more volatile than some cryptos, lol.
But they don't usually go tenfold with only speculation powering it, like ethereum did. Actual mining companies need to provide enough production for the price increase.
Also holding paper gold is as good as holding nothing, the latter doesn't apply when you're trading gold. You lose at least 5-10% when trading in physical gold.

To be honest gold has little utility. Most of it is jewelry and hedge against inflation, even these are powered by speculation.

Excellent response Smiley I concur, gold isn't as susceptible to hype swings, but those poor mining companies make the track records on these shitcoins look golden. Hyper undervalued until they find a new source/mine, then totally overvalued until they fail to meet production and shareholders jump ship.

I also agree that paper gold is worth exactly that. Paper. But the assets have a price, can be traded, and deviate so much from the price of gold (haven't figured that one out yet) that they can be traded to extreme profit given you have a decent starting stake. 1000 bucks just won't do here; like in all traditional markets, it takes money to make money, else everyone else would be doing it. In cryptoland, you can turn a dollar into a Lamborghini if you pick the right horse. But it's a gamble. The gold industry is a multi trillion dollar established, trusted and accepted form of value store. Governments hold gold by the ton as a hedge against their own currencies. Bitcoin is cool until you walk out of a WiFi field. Then, those bitcoins are as good as gold ore stuck in rock Smiley

And you can get that down to 1.5 to 3% if you sell directly to a refinery. Buying is different, you have to purchase bullion peer to peer if you want spot price.
2702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: May 31, 2016, 02:17:31 AM
If I was using drugs, I absolutely would buy them with bitcoin--if I found a reputable dealer on the deepweb.  But I don't so I'm not going to have to worry about that.   It's totally scary,  man.  There are people dropping dead left and right from opiate overdoses, and I personally know roughly ten people that I knew who died in the last 2 years.   It's no joke.

And let me contrast what I just said with a point that Pharm just brought up. Purchasing drugs with bitcoin isn't a terrible idea. It's money dammit, one of the better uses in my opinion. It's just the "buying drugs online" part that's a bummer, the average internet user does not shield their identity and activities enough for online illicit drug purchases to be feasible.

Also, if you buy some bullshit gear, I want an address I can drive to in person, so that we can talk up close about a few things Smiley
2703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: May 31, 2016, 02:14:28 AM
Anyone bought drugs with bitcoin and what are you thought on the subject ?

i know i have used bitcoin to buy psilocybe cubensis thank you bitcoin i cold have not done this without you now i can trip watching corry & eastenders in the evening its such a sight.

Let me preface this with the fact that I support the shit out of drugs. Natural substances are here for our consumption.

Buying drugs on the internet, however, is fail.

Drugs are illegal. Crazy, right? When I do illegal shit, it helps if there isn't a record of it. Bitcoin is one of the most honest systems of value transmission available, that's the whole point. To make an illegal purchase on a public ledger sounds like sticking one's head in the oven to me. And this isn't just the btc blockchain that's sitting on this tasty kernel of knowledge; your isp is in on the party, or any state actor that gets a bug in his ass to trace back that tx. Like the ATF. Or the FBI. Or some other government agency with three letters, guns, and badass black suits. If you are going to buy drugs, children, buy them in person. Yes, it's more expensive, and less convenient. But that's because there is no lingering threat of prosecution indefinately after the sale Smiley what goes on in the passenger seat of that Camaro (because obviously all drug dealers own Camaros, duh), stays in the Camaro.

Unless he's an undercover. The situation may evolve a bit Smiley

Massive capital injections into ALTs are (immediately) good for BTC.

Part of the reason BTC is strong right now is $10 of Millions is needed to support this weeks ICO frenzy.

"establish legal and practical on-ramps into their own cryptocurrency - a daunting feat."

Bitcoin that's your job, quit your whining / FUD_spoet_r0achin.
Else there are other willing and wanting to take that spot ... still a daunting feat ... at least this year Wink

Continue to build the on/off ramps, and challenge and FUD on visa/mastercard not the puny little Alts at your feet!

I concur with this. All capitalization in the sphere is good, but with bitcoin being the standard, it really just trickles back down to the bitcoin ecosphere. It will take a long time for investors to feel safer with an alt than with bitcoin, given how much more stable bitcoin prices have been, the longevity of the protocol, and the amount of institutional investment that we don't see with the latest wave of alts.
2706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is with all these Lisktards? on: May 31, 2016, 01:45:35 AM
Understand, these price swings are only because of hype. Do you honestly believe that the average investor in any of this shit can even name more than two developers on the project? Can explain why oracles are required for smart contracts? Gives a fuck either way? No, people have purchased these assets simply because they were likely to go up. That is, hype. If any of this ico shit was a sound investment, why didn't any of the R3 consortium buy it out? 150 million for a world changing technology seems like a pitance, no? Ask yourself: why have no institutional investors brought out or made majority purchases in any of these technologies? They have paid analyst. Maybe they don't pay them enough.

 Wink perspective.
2707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum’s $150-Million Blockchain-Powered Fund - Researchers Call For a Halt on: May 31, 2016, 01:33:45 AM
Excellent article. I had general issues with the concept of crowd governance,  I was not even aware of the voting rules that went along with this "grand experiment". Simply insane. As said before, this system makes it too easy for a single actor, or cabal of actors, to subvert the group will to their own wishes. I have a feeling this DAO thing is going to go south quickly in the future, and the entire would will be watching.

Well that's kind of how actual companies work. A small group of people make the decisions for all the stakeholders even if a minority of stakeholders disagree with the motion. I cant buy 100$ worth of Apple stock and expect to have my opinions influence the direction of the company in any meaningful way. The problem I see here is that actual companies have very qualified individuals calling the shots, whereas the DAO you just have anonymous actors, most of which are lucky ETH IPO investors and probably know close to nothing about running a company.

You are correct  in that this is similar to how companies work. However, real companies have an additional layer of governance, the SEC. The SEC figured out a long time ago that money and anonymity don't really work to well in practice. The ability to know who has what allocation of shares along with the ability to see how said shares voted, prevents actors from behaving immorally as they would be subject to prosecution. If we don't have an individual to assign liability to, this quickly becomes a quasi legal clusterfuck waiting to explode. Wait until someone loses a significant amount of value on one of these "projects" and becomes litigious. Who gets sued? The yes voters? The caretakers? The developers, or the exchange that hosted the orderbook? Possible even all shareholders (it was a majority decision..)?

Until these concerns are addressed, this 'asset' is a bit poison for my tastes. Ethereum has promise, but shit like this is Ethereum shooting itself in the foot. Something this experimental leaves too much upside risk to associate with, especially as a burgeoning technology that is trying to gain a foothold next to something as established as btc. The only caveat of Ethereum is smart contracts. They are cool, but the use cases seem like they can be solved with sidechains. And the energy being used to develop these alts can be directed towards the technology we have the most experience with, good old bitcoin. Blockchain technology is not going to save the world, it's going to help some facets of politics, and finance. And that's all we really need it to do.

2708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GEMZ - Unmoderated thread on: May 30, 2016, 07:00:23 PM
This asset seems undervalued at the moment, given the amount of real world vc attached to the project. I'm not suggesting to buy. I'm suggesting you do your own diligence. Will agree development on the client has been slow, but it is a very clean, bug free experience; I use either the app of the webckient most days and have had no problems.
2709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Eth bubble is about to pop on: May 30, 2016, 06:52:11 PM
Yes, ETH bubble one day will go down, and then we will look what will be ETH price. It is like fast profit making for some people - they know when to buy and when to sale.  Wink

I think when the Ethetreum price is around $10, there is no big bubble, maybe just a bit over valued.

We only know if a coin is overvalue in hindsight. It seems the Ethereum price is quite stable, there is no big sell off.

Stable? From what period of time are you making this particular observation? Imo, the price has not been stable since the initial hype wave, before this DAO thing started selling. The price may sideways a few days, don't mistake this with stability. Stability in traditional markets requires more time than this coin has been traded in totality.

2711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eth bubble has popped - Will you be left a bagholder? on: May 30, 2016, 06:34:08 PM
The PoW can put a floor price support to the Etheruem price. That is because there is cost associated with mining.

or it is also possible that everybody leaves it behind after a while because it is no longer profitable to mine and the pump-ability also becomes less and less over time.

That is possible. If there is no further developmnet of the Etheruem, people will leave, nobody will mine.

So far, there is good development in the Etheruem system. We have the smart contract and the DAO already.

There is indeed development, but with competing technologies already in play, unless the development is fast and effective it will be sharing market eventually. Smart contracts sound great, but the real life use cases don't really seem to be there imo. Also understand that a lot of people are invested in this coin for profit, not because they care about the future of the technology. Makes for weak hands.
2712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin listed as a accepted payment method for PAYPAL e-wallet patent NEW on: May 30, 2016, 06:28:42 PM
And right NOW
..using any Virtual Currency with Paypal is forbidden and against their TOS.
If they suspect you your account will be frozen and an investigation will be launched.

They requested i get a lawyer before and i had to pay for that out of pocket.
They put me through hell for around 2.5 months of them constantly fighting me
over & over they kept playing games making up new problems..
In the end when i got a signed affidavit delivered to them via consultation with my lawyer
(admitting my guilt) they said they would release my funds.
But the damage was done.. Newegg was already waiting for their money for items i already received.
My reputation was stained forever because of this with them..

Then to push my buttons and send me over the edge when they released my funds
they stole a hair under $700 usd from me then kept lying saying they gave it to Newegg.
They kept telling me every day ask Newegg about it and i did and they said ask Paypal
and they pushed me back & forth for weeks..
Eventually i found a creative method to contact these guys at Paypal directly
and i cornered them and hounded them until they admitted it.. and eventually gave me my missing $700.

Funny part was before i did anything i called them and made sure i was ok etc.
The person on the phone said ya your fine but went and checked with others.
8 hours after the phone call my account was locked and an investigation was launched !

I was then auto-banned from their forums (which is standard procedure)
And then my account was "Limited" meaning i could do nothing else other than
write a message on a piece of paper then take a picture of it and add it to the investigation menu's.
When they launch an investigation you can't even email them back or anything.
So you have no contact and no choice but to do the tasks it says in the 'dispute resolution center'

What did i do ?
I went to BTCe and i had withdrawn 2x the minimum amount to Paypal.
Then i went to Newegg online and bought parts for a new computer i was trying to build.
Apparently this was a criminal act that required an intense investigation.
And yes my account was "Verified" a couple years earlier too.

It started with an email from them informing me of my violation of the Virtual Currency TOS rules.
And all they would say about it after a couple months was "admit your guilt"
..via sworn affidavit.
I told them why would i do that when i had no idea i did anything wrong ?
And i said further more you guys have worded things carefully via email etc over & over
making sure to tell me that even if i admitted my guilt i would not get my money.
They simply demanded i admit my guilt or i would be Limited and lose my money for ever.
They did not so much as hint that doing this would get me my money back.
And there was NO other option.. do it or they perma-lock you period .

Funnier was when i got the TOS violation email i copied and pasted part of it into Google..
Guess what ?
It had been pasted here already word for word at Bitcointalk many times since as early as 2012.
Then go look in the "Market" section here and see the THOUSANDS of people doing this.
People here have known it was / is wrong all along and yet we are led into a trap.
The most staff here have done is warn users about "Chargebacks" on a sticky topic by theymos.
And trust me that is nothing compared to what i went through !

Paypal made sure to collect their fee's BEFORE locking my account and BTCe went on to keep doing it
and Bitcointalk carried on allowing this shit to keep going on rampantly.
BTCe + Paypal took 'exactly' $500 in fee's from me from those 2 withdrawals combined.
So once they got their $500 out of me then they were more than happy to lock my account on me of course.

This is the reality and it is the rules !

Regardless of shit people say online.
Such as ?
One of the directors at Paypal was muttering shit about Bitcoin on Twitter before.
This was quickly posted all over the web by BTC fans.. as more users continued to get their funds stolen
.and accounts locked !

Head my warning people and stay away from the issue or be prepared to lose your money + account.
I got lucky and had to fight hard and i am smarter than many people..
SO i found some ways to handle them that others will not.
For example i had already had another Paypal account to post on their blocked forums with.
Once you get locked you can't post or even make a new forum account.. you are auto banned.
And even then no one helped me and all i got from Forum staff was mouthed off.. then ignored.

To get out of the mess you may have to contact them directly and privately
and i found a way to do this which got results !
Other wise it would have possibly turned out worse for me.
Point being is they cut off all communication channels with you once locked.
So if you end up in my shoes then good luck guys.

Don't say i didn't tell you..

- AGAIN -  Roll Eyes

Good god man, that's fucking horrible. I thought I had a bad PayPal story; the ring of assholes that charged us back into oblivion at least eventually got caught and PayPal released the funds prematurely. But at least they had a reason to hold funds in my case, what they pulled with you is that bullshit.

I never hear positive stories about PayPal.. only horror stories.

ETHERUM will be rise again to 1BTC = 1 ETHERUM  Cheesy

i think someone should really make a record of all these posts like this one for the future and then make a topic pointing to all of them for a good laugh. Grin

Yes Smiley the optimism on this board is insane. People throw money at these things and actually expect the moon it seems Smiley it just speaks to the lack of investor experience in this particular space.
2714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum - Time to buy or time to sell? on: May 30, 2016, 06:17:25 PM
The Ethereum price is surprising strong at the moment. I though it could drop to $6 after recent pump.
Why would you expect the price of ETH to drop so much? The recent DAO sale effectively locked away a very large healthy chunk of ETH from the market this limiting the market supply. The era of cheap ETH is over. If you didn't heed the advice of myself and others over the last few weeks that you needed to buy and immediately. Well I am sorry you have now missed the ETH train to the ETH Moonship.

The the train us on a circular track, it will come back around. The same eth was locked into the DAO before the recent fall from 15 to 10$, why now would it continue to uptrend with more liquidity in the same conditions? (Btc is still going up). The eth train was only missed if you didn't mine in/buy in sub 5, and don't kick yourself, it will most likely come around again
2715  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price going up? on: May 30, 2016, 05:09:57 AM
It was a pretty nice price surge. I can't tell you what will happen in the future, but it would be very nice if btc's price in dollars reached ~1k until july.

I'd say that there's a rather solid (?) chance that might happen. And if it does we all should be buying now, even though it just went through an 100US$ high...

I'm appreciating the uptick as well, it is long overdue Smiley but I think the market will correct a few times before the Halving. Then a little more uptrend, then it's going to sideways for a bit until something else pressworthy happens.

And the Islamic banking system has some very specific rules about usury and profit sharing, it's actually very progressive, and in my opnion, a very fair and moral way to conduct business (I'm very pro capitalism  Grin) Our banking system could learn a few things.

Please lightening and further explanation before astray Grin
Thanks before  Wink

Greetings HunterBTC

It's neither. Keep aside your religious belief and have fun earning bitcoin. I am sure your religion never said that earning money is unlawful.

However, if you are still in a dilemma about it, please send your bitcoin to me and I will have fun.

Please don't bring religion in this forum. It is a place for like minded money makers.

It's a legit question; in Islam a substance can be clean or unclean, depending on the circumstances of its creation/method of obtaining. For example, meat prepared non ritualistically is considered halal, and considered unfit to ingest in a lordly body. No different than the concept of kosher/non kosher.

I'd certainly want to know if something in my life was affecting my chances at eternal salvation  Wink

I'm Christian, btw, just aware of the other Abrahamic faiths Smiley

2719  Other / Off-topic / Re: du you spend coins on real life. on: May 30, 2016, 04:10:42 AM
In my country (in south-east Asia), there are only a handful of restaurants and bars which accept Bitcoin. I have spent BTC a couple of times in these places. Other than that, I have mostly relied on the online dark markets to spend my Bitcoin. Not that I am spending them for drugs.... I am making perfectly legal purchases, such as computer parts and accessories. Earlier, Bitmit was a great place to spend the coins. After they closed down, there is no reliable online market available to purchase various items with BTC.

It doesn't get much better in the States Smiley Very few merchants directly accept grc, but there are some online services that allow you to buy virtual gift cards to a bunch of places you normally spend money at.

A lot of restaurants though Smiley
2720  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halal or Haram Bitcoin ??? on: May 30, 2016, 04:03:57 AM
It would be no different than any other currency, only the source of the income would dictate if the funds were unclean or not. Also, possibly the motivation behind how the funds will be spent, that is, if you use charity money to buy crack, I'm pretty sure the funds would no longer be considered halal.
