1701  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are terrorists only muslim in religion? on: March 01, 2017, 05:33:34 AM
Please don't mistake what those fools practice. Islam is an Abrahamic faith, and one of our brothers if you are Christian or Jewish. Also, there have been quite a few Christian terrorist. I say this as a Christian. You may want to look at some of the recent domestic terrorism in the USA, like Dylan Roof, Timothy McVey, or the Unabomber. Unabashedly Christian  Grin

1702  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jailed for 13 years for flying the confederate flag on: March 01, 2017, 05:23:15 AM
Are you kidding me right now guys? Your racism is showing.

Do I have to explain why terrorizing an innocent family celebrating a birthday party might not be protected by free speech? Although I disagree with that symbol (the flag of a failed rebellion), I certainly agree with anyone's right to bear said flag. But peacefully waving a flag, on your lonesome, or even in proud recognition of ones heritage, is a far cry from being a fucking asshole because you feel some kind of way about black people.

I see that people feel some kind of way about blacklivesmatter. Heads would fucking roll had this happened in inverse. You would think me a fool for not understanding why a group of black people spewing racist shit might not be a good look around a bunch of kids and family, peacefully and privately assembled. You would want a negro head on a fucking stick. And I think you would be justified, because that behavior would be disgusting and unamerican.

Kinda like what happened.
1703  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trumps Joint session of Congress, Opinions? on: March 01, 2017, 05:16:34 AM
While I will concur this was a much softer tone from Trump, there are still a few looming issues that were not addressed during his speech. Which I must admit, I did not expect to be so eloquent (props given were due). So, what about the travel ban? The results have been disastrous so far. Not only have we given ISIS more rhetoric to spew, we have managed to alienate some of our Middle Eastern friends with this decidedly unfriendly action. We finally heard a denouncement of the attacks on our Jewish community, as well as a denouncement of the general uptick of hate crimes. Again, props given. But this was on the heels of him stating that the sudden rash of anti Semitic threats could be a false flag. I'm all about moving forward, but when the tone changes so abruptly, I have to wonder what has changed so suddenly.

And Russia goddammit, Russia.
1704  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump Slashes Nat'l Debt by $12 Billion In First Month, Media Silent on: March 01, 2017, 02:58:51 AM
One would have to ask, exactly what policy/executive action has he signed/enacted that would have been responsible for this? Especially in a month? Cuts to EPA/the endowments/national media haven't taken effect yet, and the only legislation we have seen is a travel ban and increased deportation enforcement.

Also, the debt is an insurmountable snowball that won't be surmounted by any one administration. Especially one with 1/20 of its appointees.
1705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be used by ordinary citizens? on: February 28, 2017, 06:06:52 PM
Depends on what you mean by "regular citizens". If you mean the denizens of the internet, then yes, as the majority of the things you can purchase with Bitcoin tend to be located on the interwebs. With that being said, this is exactly why "regular citizens", which I assume is the general populace, have little incentive to adopt btc. They would use it as a debit card, and most people just wouldn't be bothered to make the switch, ESP if they knew about the particular security difficulties bitcoin brings to the table.
1706  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Germany Recorded Over 3,500 Attacks Against Refugees Last Year on: February 28, 2017, 05:42:51 PM
Germany witnessed more than 3,500 attacks against refugees and their accommodations in 2016, according to a report by the interior ministry. This comes at a time when the country is divided over Chancellor Angela Merkel’s open-door policy for asylum seekers.

Ibtimes : http://www.ibtimes.com/refugees-under-attack-germany-recorded-over-3500-attacks-against-asylum-seekers-2016-2498697

look at bangladesh/myanmar the so called muslim world creates all the time problems for its neighbours....

You unfortunately cannot blame the whole for the actions of a select, extreme view. You would have to condemn all religions. I'm Christian. And can think of a lot of atrocities committed in the name of my faith. These terrorists are no more Muslim than Dylann Roof is Christian. If you see behavior that defies the norm/expectations for a group, ask yourself if what you are looking at is truly a valid example.
1707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not dead yet but should be. on: February 25, 2017, 07:30:41 PM
I don't agree with the article, but let's explore the critiques:

Is illegitimate: no more so than a recently ipo'd stock in a traditional market. Don't even get me started on penny/small cap stocks.

Volatile: see above

Subject to manipulation: virtually any stock on any traditional market.

So, are traditional stocks "worthless"?

Also, feels like the author might have missed the train, and wouldn't mind bringing it back to them station with a little FUD.

1708  Other / Archival / Re: Earning "free" bitcoins on: February 25, 2017, 07:17:41 PM
I've said this many times. The opportunities to earn btc online, efficiently, are rare. Faucets are not your friend unless you are going to hold until the price at least doubles. Too little pay for too little work. Save the Sig camps, you are better off working in real life and buying btc with the money you earned. Hell, you are better off picking up cans, or change, than wasting data/time on a faucet.

Cloud mining has unique concerns. In this economy, better to rent a rig, or get your own, than cloud mining. Poor track record as an industry, statistically you are behind before you start.
1709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ETF dates, price speculation, advice required on: February 25, 2017, 06:22:12 PM
I'm concerned due to the effect of the "Trump Bump". Traditional markets are in a bubble, wall Street is riding high on the idea of corporate tax cuts. At the same time, bitcoin is peaking, ALONG with gold. This makes no sense. A strong dollar and surging gold/btc? One of these is false. Capital movement with BTC/AU usually correlates with a weak dollar. That tells me one of two scenarios are about to occur:

A) traditional stock markets crash when everyone realizes that this is unsustainable. Bitcoin will surge, expect 2000.

B) markets continue to surge while btc stagnates at this peak. Investors will be incentivized to move into traditional sectors, and btc will recede. But temper that with the possible approval of the ETF. No idea of the effect, but undoubtedly will be positive for BTC.
1710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Daily use of bitcoin? on: February 25, 2017, 06:09:17 PM
I have a Shift card, courtesy of Coinbase. I essentially use coinbase as a zero fee free checking account. I had a Wells Fargo account nt for a great deal of time, but ultimately found that the "hidden" fees are such that it's actually cheaper to use local check cashing businesses in my area rather than a corporate bank. Credit unions are pretty good, but quite honestly, if you are banking in America, you'd be better off with a bitcoin wallet and card combination. You will save mucho dinero. Try it for a month. I haven't spent an electronic USD in about 3 or 4 years. Well, on consumer products, my portfolio unfortunately requires the almighty dollar.
1711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Egad. 81,000 + Transactions Unconfirmed. Again. Ugh! on: February 25, 2017, 05:13:23 PM
This is precisely why bitcoin isn't ready for the mainstream. Until we can get past the foolish politics of the blocksize debate, we can't scale. There is something to be said about regulation, however you may feel about it Wink If some extraordinary economical event should occur, such as a serious Asian capital flight (in progress), or events similar to the Greek capital exit that occurred during their default, we simply won't be prepared. This issue has grown quite long in the tooth, and at some point we should maybe look at simply getting a new governance board.

Thus has to be fixed, despite if the solution is a consensus. Compare this to the debt ceiling stall/debate that occurred recently in the States. Inaction will simply lead to increased harm.

And although I think a fork is a method of last resort, maybe it's something we need to be considering. Will we allow the world to burn because of ideological differences?
1712  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: (Matter Resolved) on: February 21, 2017, 06:02:23 PM
My bad bro,  I will admit I did respond with a healthy dose of asshurt. I read your posting history, and I give you a 21 gun salute  for your contributions to the community. My sincere apologies.
1713  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beware of Hero Account GreenBits *Account Compromised* DO NOT TRADE!! on: February 19, 2017, 12:29:20 AM
-snip-
So let's wait until a DT members post here and tag him as what? (actually I also don't know) A hacker? A scammer?  or what.

Anyways already gave him negative trust regarding this scam accusation.

Honestly, I don't think guy is a scammer (he is a goddamned hacker, however), from reading "my posts". I see he joined a decent sig campaign and is enjoying the benefits of having a hero level account (the Sig campaign bread is very nice bread indeed). But I can't have someone running around pretending to be me, ESP with lending and escrow (I see he is active there). I'm not a dick. He may have purchased my account from a third party. Honestly, it doesn't matter. THIS IS NOT Me. Now, if the gentleman would elaborate on how he got access to my account, doing so in this public forum, I would appreciate that. I am a very reasonable human. I would like to hear his actual motivations.

Hey no worries.
Would be great if you could answer my questions,
- are you bothered by dawnasor using GreenBits on bitcoin.com.
- can you confirm you did not know GreenBits was being used by dawnasor until after he posted that you were informed. (i don't think you saw the pm till after 11.11pm forum time?)
- will you want dawnasor to stop using GreenBits else where?
Yes, see above.
No, I didn't see it until I came on here to yell at you, whatever time that was
And of course, again see the above.

I would like you to speak plainly however, justify your suspicions. What are you getting at? What are you trying to accuse me of? I don't understand how these questions establish me as the owner of the account. Please explain to me and the community your logic for "smelling fish", since you have made a clear accusation of impropriety.
1714  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: (Matter Resolved) on: February 18, 2017, 07:50:33 PM
My bad for reacting so poorly, I guess I should be happy the community is responding with suspicion. I encourage everyone to perform as much diligent research as possible. Quite honestly, I would expect the scrutiny, I'm the one with a hacked account. I understand you didn't mean to provoke me, and I apologize for being hot headed.
1715  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: (Matter Resolved) on: February 18, 2017, 01:42:35 AM
And finally, please see my LinkedIn:

Now, any new objections?
1716  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: (Matter Resolved) on: February 18, 2017, 01:09:03 AM
And no, I wasn't aware. And you saying it out loud apparently prompted dawnosaur to send me a PM concerning the fact. One moment while I show it to you..

here: http://imgur.com/a/rja0F

now, what else do you have to contribute?

I apologize for a poor reaction, but getting a bit tired of defending this, esp from a fellow Hero level member. I could tolerate this from the youngins. You, are too damned old for this.
1717  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: (Matter Resolved) on: February 18, 2017, 12:56:10 AM
We have been over this Dammit. My account is GreenBits, the one im using atm, not shayshay. My name is Leonard Jackson. Remember Leonard J at CEX? If you notice, Shay's account has a whole 20 posts or so. I'm sorry for using the person I sleep with's account to recover my own. Do I need to hold up a sign on my goddamned LinkedIn/Facebook? Would you like to come wish me a happy belated birthday?

Edit: maybe you could like, read my posting history? And tell me I'm not the goddamned owner of this account? I'm waiting.

In fact, you want to put some BTC down on it? Put your money where your mouth is.

And FYI, the comment was made to edify Loyce's inquiry. It's pretty damned obvious I have control of Shay's account, I was instructing him to add it to my "known alts" for the sake of transparency.
1718  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In what situation would Bitcoin die? on: February 17, 2017, 02:38:07 PM
Honestly, besides people en masse across the world not having internet, the only other "killer" scenario I can think of is a massive confidence shift due to an epic bug, for example. Like ETH, despite the innovation, once people got scared their funds weren't safe, they got out. If bitcoin developed a serious exploit of this nature, we would see flight into other well established cryptos, however, not complete abandonment of the market.
1719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will be see bitcoin as international currency? on: February 17, 2017, 02:31:07 PM
it's not just adoption that needs to expand, but the protocol needs to evolve drastically to handle the traffic and increase the user-friendliness issues with Bitcoin. The congestion is a mess at times already; and using a bitcoin wallet is not as intuitive as using a bank card/ check book. Bitcoin needs to be a bit better, so to say, in order to be a world class currency.
1720  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: GreenBits Contract (Matter Resolved) (Still in Progress, do not delete please) on: February 16, 2017, 01:39:43 AM
Green here, I can confirm that I have control of my account back. Thanks to everyone in the community that assisted me with this matter, I appreciate you guys  Grin

If the previous account occupant can confirm payment of the .015, we can wrap this up  Grin
