2701  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ledger nano with electrum - from old to new PC on: March 21, 2023, 12:36:03 AM

Download electrum new version here:

https://electrum.org/#download

Follow these steps to connect ledger and electrum
https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005161925-Set-up-and-use-Electrum

do i need anything specific compared to the old electrum wallet? do i reinstall the new version directly? does the old one get overwritten? do i need to save anything?

You can Uninstall the old one. If it is a stand alone version  just delete the file.

So is it important in the future to continue to update ledger and electrum?

is there anything that can go wrong with the procedure? (yes I left everything there so as not to do something stupid)

New versions are always safer to use, because they fiz vulnerabilities and bugs.

Just have the seed with you,  because you may lose your coins if you reset the device and the seed is missing

Optional but recommended:

It is very likely that you will have to update your ledger nano firm were. Your device will most likely reset, as there is a long time you don't use it.

Only do this if you have the seed with you.

Download ledger live and update the firmware:

There is this free api from blockchain.com that does exactly that

Receive Payments API V2
Accept bitcoin payments seamlessly
You provide an extended public key (xPub) and we generate a unique, unused corresponding address for your customers to send payment to. We notify you of payments to that address instantly using a callback URL of your choosing.

This looks not complex to set up and all you need is the xpub
2704  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: CAMPANHAS DE ASSINATURAS ATUALIZADAS on: March 20, 2023, 10:15:20 PM

2705  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Bitcoin aprendido usado para "recompensar" a banca on: March 20, 2023, 10:13:26 PM

2706  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best platform for crypto exchange on: March 20, 2023, 04:32:58 PM
Hello friends, I really wanna start investing and using crypto on daily basis Please let me know what are the best ways to do it? Where should I start? Thanks a lot in advance!

You cannot use crypto in daily basis, there is no place in the world where you can every day buy stuff with crypto.

You can trade every day. To do so, just open an account in the biggest exchanges such as Coinbase,  Binance  , Kraken, Bitstamp, etc...
I would avoid small and new exchanges, as they have higher risk to disappear with your money.
2707  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: can't access electrum wallet on: March 20, 2023, 01:10:31 PM
Had not been in my electrum wallet for over a year. When I went in balance showed "0". Made a small purchase to see if it would show up. No luck. Did wallet new/restore using seed phrase. No luck.

I would update the wallet.

Download the new version here

https://electrum.org/#download

Did you generate the address for this transaction just before sending it? Are you sure you are in the correct wallet? Derivation path and seed?

After some time I updated the merit animation race, as requested by Igebotz

https://public.flourish.studio/story/520945/
Nice work man but why it's still stops at 30/12/2022. First I checked the animation from the OP, thought it's outdated then checked the above one and thought this one will have updated data but it seems the same except the cosmetics.

Looking forward to the next one with data from until may be last week or last month.
Thank you for noticing.

I uploaded the data but forgot to publish it. It is working now!
2709  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Tempo e dinheiro on: March 20, 2023, 09:37:44 AM

Normalmente a resposta é sim.

Dinheiro compra tempo sim.

https://www.kabum.com.br/promocao/LEDGERNANO?utm_source=LEDGER&utm_medium=PARCERIAS&utm_campaign=LINK9

2711  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] bitcoindata.science on: March 20, 2023, 01:18:56 AM
Any new ideas on this?
When I do a local search to find matching addresses, it doesn't really matter much for the search time whether it's 1 or a million addresses. I'm pretty sure using a database would be much faster to get one address, but I don't know if it can beat the speed of searching a text-file for a million matches.
TXT search speed is ok. THe problem is downloading the database. I would like to avoid that. I will try to figure something out.
I tried with rsync, but even an incremental download updating a day-old sorted file requires downloading more than a GB. I would have expected it to be less, considering most lines are unchanged.

It would be really cool if you can just enter a million addresses and get the balances (okay, yesterday's balances) quickly after uploading the 40 MB list.

I believe the only way to do that would be to use my own node to get the data.

For now, I am using blockchain data from third party nodes (mempool.space and blockcypher). And both of them have limits. After some requests you get blocked, and neither of them allow you to request multiple addresses at once.

Do you still have a server running a full node?
I never worked with a full node, but I can try to make an API for it that would allow such requests.

You may want to remove the * sign from the Nigeria local board now that we are no longer a mega-thread. On the Rakafip chart overview, the * sign was used to distinguish local board from local threads.

Thanks. I just removed * from the animation. You can see now.

Small suggestion- can you add aminated merit chart?

Those local animated charts are not easy for me to do, I will try to make later, because I need data from another people.

But I updated the merit animation chart for the whole forum.
You can see it here:

2714  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any problems with *CHIPMIXER* coins? on: March 19, 2023, 07:57:10 PM
Would that really change the fact that he didn't use a mixer? No, because all of his txs will be identifiable easily by on-chain analysts I think as there are a lot of different criteria, and clues they use. Well, I'm saying this in general, not necessarily applied to OP.

I believe that an exchange will not make a complex on-chain analysis/investigation on every user. They will just look a few transactions back (at most) looking for "tainted" addresses.

if you look coins whole history you will see that a lot of coins have been in a mixer or casino at some time, so they must put some kind of limit to their search. Like the past 2-3 transactions.

There is a good video by Andreas Antonopoulos about it:

Bitcoin Q&A: Blacklists, Taint, and Wallet Fingerprinting
https://youtu.be/BILcJ3WtdLQ?t=195

He explain exactly that, there is a limit in transactions (hops) which the exchange is going to look back.
2715  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any problems with *CHIPMIXER* coins? on: March 19, 2023, 02:38:42 PM
YAh, another topic about mixers.
*My friend* has some coins that were mixed during the past years, moved them into cold storage, and he wants to sell them in the future.
Are there any complaints about closing KYCed accounts, tax reports or problems that resulted from depositing ChipMixer mixed coins? Specifically after ChipMixer.com has been seized.

- Yamane

He can simple make a few hops, about 5 transactions is enough

Let's suppose this is his situation:

ChipAddresz > Address1

He just need to make soemthing like this, inside his own wallet.

ChipAdd > Add1 > Add2 > add3 > add4 > add5 > exchange

as he is transfering to himself, he can use 1 sat/vbyte in those transactions. he can also split the values.

this is make those coins look to be far from the mixer and the exchange wont notice them (most likely)
2716  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] bitcoindata.science on: March 19, 2023, 05:27:22 AM
you forgot one very important thing when you open ANN, and that is to leave a link to your website. That is very important in many aspects.
at the moment, there is only somewhere in the middle a link to the page with donations, and someone who sees this thread for the first time would have to copy/paste or enter the web address manually.

That's is really very important . I completely forgot it. Thanks.

Only way to make this page dark is using some extensions like Dark Reader, so you might want to add switch there if possible.
Since there is no top menu bar on that page it's not easy to return to main page with click, so you should also fix that.

I will take a look into that too. Certainly at least a link to the website I will put soon.
2717  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My wallet has been hacked. What to do? on: March 18, 2023, 09:39:37 AM
thanks everyone for the replies.
Perhaps the translation was not very accurate - my English is far from ideal and I have to use Google.

The scheme of work is as follows: I use the standalone version of the client. The Electrum profile itself does not exist on the computer - it is in the archive under a password. If I need to make a transaction, I unpack the profile folder to a specific location, indicate this location to the program, enter the password and get access. At the end, I close the program, again I archive the profile folder with its removal from the location.
Those. Initially, there is no folder with a wallet or a file with a phrase on the PC. Therefore, I cannot understand how exactly without this phrase and in the absence of access to the wallet file, access to transactions could be obtained.
And - yes, I imagine how the blockchain works. Please don't waste your time visualizing how much smarter you are. Thank you.

You didn't answer my  question in the beginning. In the first post.

Where did you store your seed?

All you said about archive program and password means nothing and this doesn't increase your security.

With the seed anyone can just download electrum and move your coins. The seed should be your main concern.

The seed phrase should always be written in paper, which is unhackable.

It is very likely that your computer is compromised and the hacker just got access to your seed. This may have happened in the time you just created the wallet and saw the seed for the first time or later on.
2718  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My wallet has been hacked. What to do? on: March 17, 2023, 05:04:59 PM
What should I do?

Discover what is compromised in your system.
Format your computer.
Buy a hardware wallet.

Where did you stored your seed? In a paper? If not, that is a mistake.

Agradeço a colaboração.

Eu entraria , claro!

2720  Bitcoin / Project Development / [ANN] bitcoindata.science | sponsored by l0tt0.com on: March 17, 2023, 02:59:26 PM
I redesigned and wrote the entire site and code from scratch.

I decided to create this ANN to centralize all discussions related to all tools here.

It is now much faster, I fixed bugs  and there are some new features, such as Dark/Light Mode.

I noticed that Address Balance Checker and Unit Converter are the most used tools, and I improved their UI and code.

I removed tools which didn't have much users or were bugged.

I temporarily removed funded addresses (data provided by LoyceV) and I will add it again when I have fixed a few bugs in the code. And the Transaction Size calculator need to be improved.

I also added a new section for donations where I added both users which helped me make this website stay online: Timelord2067 and examplens.
