2701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 26, 2014, 03:36:04 AM

This is what I find hilarious about this whole drama. All the naive Aspies who spew venom at Altcoins are in the same exact boat, a shadowy mysterious developer who won't reveal himself, distrust by the general public that what they are running is a pyramid scheme, attacking alts for "having no infrastructure" or "wide merchant acceptance" when neither does Bitcoin really (sorry but a shitty little wordpress storefront selling giftcards and GPUs doesn't count as "wide" merchant acceptance in my book), and a majority of the coin wealth owned by an elite few (the top 1% of bitcoin holders hold 80% of them, and here we think a 1% premine for a developer is greed).

Really nice post ...

I haven't been into cryptos very long, but this does bring up a question I've always had. Why is a 1% premine considered bad? Is it considered poor form for the developer to profit in any way?

I just find it a bizarre notion personally. If a premine is gigantic and cashed out entirely by the dev, or promised to be used for promotion, yet isn't -- I can see why people would look at it as if the dev is scamming someone. But if it's a reasonable amount, who cares? I mean, why is it wrong for a developer to profit at all from a small premine? I never quite got that.
2702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 26, 2014, 03:29:06 AM

I don't know if you have any friends outside of this world.. but just talk to them about it.. and ask them how they feel about bitcoins.  Most of them wouldn't touch the stuff.

That reminds me of something that occurred to me right after the Mt. Gox thing,  when a friend asked me if I could tell her what a bitcoin was, as she didn't really understand how they worked. Her thought was was they were close to worthless, due to an article she read about the failing exchange.

And around that same time I recall seeing a political cartoon or two, all portraying bitcoins as being worthless and also in a way making fun of people trying to use them. Of course it wasn't true, but perception was hurt a ton by Gox.

Which was the argument I was trying to make earlier. Even if you exclude effects on price, public acceptance is much more difficult when all of this shady stuff happens.
2703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PSA: Becareful of imposters on forum boards on: March 26, 2014, 02:32:53 AM

Your contributions and enthusiasm in HKC ANN thread seems contradict to what you said here.

If that is enthusiasm to you, I guess you have no emotions. I was stating where a coin logically would go to after Bittrex. And as I have stated in several threads here, I find nation coins sort of silly, unless it has an infrastructure behind it. The main reason I even posted in that thread was because I found their faucet idea interesting... and then because you went into nutty troll mode.
2704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Evidence | Is HongKongCoin Dev team the Bittrex & Poloniex Imposters in Forum? on: March 26, 2014, 02:27:14 AM
Umm... I'm not on any dev team, nor have a clue what HK coin people want to do with the coin. Just because I stated in a post that Poloniex would seem to logically be the next exchange for them, it doesn't mean I have a clue what the dev there plans to do. The way the coin is going, it may fade away on Bittrex on its own.

As for fake poloniex people, have they posted in any threads? I am sort of surprised that the moderators haven't simply killed those accounts, after the real people from both exchanges pointed out the imposters.
2705  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: March 26, 2014, 02:19:04 AM

you know I am totally convinced that you are to gain in all of this... you and your fucking minions are all driving the price down so you can buy as much as you can on the cheap and then it will eventually pump and then you'll do what you did today with dumping it... then you start the whole fucking cycle again..

I'm buying more as soon as it gets to it's low point and holding until it makes really good gains.....

The price is going down simply because people are cashing the coins out -- not because the group is somehow influencing price. It's logical and expected with any airdrop. Free coins = people cashing them out.

I am really against calling the coin a scam, or any coin a scam, until an actual scam is committed, however. Let the market decide if a coin is a success or not... no need to fork/hack/ddos to try to force the issue. I may be against this shit coin killing group, but I wouldn't blame them for the price drop. It'd happen regardless, unless an existing infrastructure existed so people could spend the coins on goods.
2706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 26, 2014, 01:07:58 AM

Well its not people "investing" that crypto currency (especially bitcoin) needs, success of a crypto shouldn't ever be about its price vs USD or how much ROI people can make, it should be about how useful they are as a currency.

Let's just say mass adoption of bitcoin (or any crypto), probably wouldn't be helped much by reports of hackers forking coins, ddossing pools, or trying to extort devs for money.

Just like the constant reports of robbery, drugs, illegal arms trade, organsied crime, banks going bust, have hindered the mass adoption of USD  Roll Eyes

One key difference ... people don't have a choice regarding USD. Unless they want to go pay for their groceries using foreign currency or dogecoins, and get weird looks.

And an illegal arms trade won't magically make the money you are holding in your hand vanish.

Perception is what I am talking about anyway. The idea that a bunch of kids could hack/ddos/fork a cyrpto and it would affect your investment, probably doesn't help much.

Well, on the good news front, the tribe did at least recognize that maza is being studied the other day. And then the news report today. I do agree that a fork is needed, though.

I think the interesting thing is that CNN rumor. If that is true, the price could certainly jump.
2708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official BlackCoin statement from CryptoRush - Very shocking information on: March 26, 2014, 12:57:32 AM
Yeah, maza worked for me, about 2-3 hrs ago. Give that a try.

Trying to withdraw BTC and getting a failed message. Perfect.

Same here

Got to buy an alt, then withdraw that alt. Not sure if they all work, but I know some can be withdrawn.
2711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 26, 2014, 12:24:16 AM

maybe. So the idea is that instead of making clones and ponzi coins we should be making/supporting better and innovative coins in that will help the future of cryptos.

Better coins would help. And I find all of these cloned coins a waste (unless you can pick when to get in on a pump and dump). But they are hardly why the market is going down.

As others have stated, it's Gox and shady exchanges. Imagine if Cryptsy went down now ... how many people here would simply walk away from cryptos forever?

This movement really isn't about killing shitcoins anyway. The leader of said movement made his own shitcoins, so you can believe their motives are dubious ... not to mention the extortion comments made here.

The real problem are the exchanges, not the junk coins.
2712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 26, 2014, 12:13:30 AM

and shouldnt in coins that can manipulated so easily. thats the whole point. Serious investors should invest in serious coins.

Yeah, and if a serious investor saw this thread, he'd choose gold or silver coins, not cryptos. Any crypto.
2713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 26, 2014, 12:08:15 AM
If I was considering investing any real money into cryptos, this would certainly scare me away from investing in any shitcoins. It'd also scare me away from investing in any crypto whatsoever.

^^^This. Try explaining to Joe Average why a crapcoin is a crapcoin without mentioning Bitcoin...

Well, my point was, shitcoins wouldn't scare me away from investing in cryptos. All of this talk of hacking, forking and extortion would, however ... and also keep me from investing into bitcoins too.

This thread basically conveys a message that the crypto world is run by 15 year old trolls, who wish to hack  and fork coins so they can make money off of it. No serious investor would bother.
2714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 25, 2014, 11:50:32 PM
Had that same problem, had to convert to something else to get it out of cryptorush. It didn't help that the site was getting ddossed at the time.

I just did the same thing.. went with LTC.. You made me a little nervous.. oh well even if i take a small loss on it.. better safe than sorry Smiley   Totally out of cryptorush now...

It was difficult finding a good pair to get at an even rate. I chose maza... then the site froze up on me, and took forever for the confirmations. I did lose a little, but it wasn't much btc to begin with for me.

I normally never keep anything on cryptorush, but late last night I was doing some minor arbitrage trades for freebie greece coins (which wasn't probably worth the effort looking at the price now), and it was late... figured it'd be fine to leave the leftover btc there. And today  people talking about hacks/bc stuff .... and site constantly down ... was happy to get my coins out of there, even at a minor loss.
2715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Why Cryptorush withdraws don't work? on: March 25, 2014, 11:44:44 PM
I couldn't get btc out, but was able to get maza withdrawn. Buy/Withdraw/Sell somewhere else, if need be.
That was maybe 2hrs ago, but hopefully at least some coins can be gotten out now.
2716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 25, 2014, 11:05:33 PM
Perhaps the OP can now begin to see just how bad an idea this cryptobashing thread really is and just close it.

Agree that all this exchange hacks are keeping all of us down, getting out of control. Sad

Can't even get my BTCs out of cryptorush atm...

Would be awesome if we could help on that front somehow.

Had that same problem, had to convert to something else to get it out of cryptorush. It didn't help that the site was getting ddossed at the time.

One odd thing about this thread is it may in fact achieve its goal, inadvertently (perceived goal, I should say ... the other goal may be extortion and financial gain). If I was a new investor to cryptos, saw this site... then this thread, I'd see hacking, extortion, racketeering threats, as well as people talking about destroying coins.

Other threads talk about forking AUR, since, umm... I guess the airdrop is working. So might as well wreck that coin too.

If I was considering investing any real money into cryptos, this would certainly scare me away from investing in any shitcoins. It'd also scare me away from investing in any crypto whatsoever.
2717  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: March 25, 2014, 07:48:04 PM
The thing I find bizarre about this notion is  the assumption the dev just has to be scamming people, and the fact that those who want to kill the coin never even once consider a simple idea  -- that maybe they are wrong.

Yeah, it's possible it's all a scam. Same way it's possible that your neighbor is a thief. It doesn't mean you should go over there and set his house on fire, just because he could possibly be a criminal.

I wonder how much of this is due to preconceived notions based on what they (they meaning the shitcoin killing devs) would do with such a premine? They probably would cash out the premine, so assume everyone else would do so too.

And I'm not saying this can't be a scam. Nor that the coin is even worthwhile. It's just wrong to assume it's a scam without any proof, however. I do think they underestimate how much exposure the coin has gotten, as has been mentioned already -- national news, politicians talking about it, etc. Exposure most alts can only dream about.

Trying to kill the coin would seemingly go against common sense, as well, as news of the coin failing won't help cryptos in any way ... and that includes bitcoin. So besides becoming enemies of Icelandic people, it very well could make enemies of anyone who holds bitcoins too.
2718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Doge: The Good on: March 25, 2014, 07:28:35 PM
I'm waiting to see how bitcoin does. If it falls in price everything else seems to. Someone said if the aurora airdrop does wrong it could leave bitcoin lower in price.

The airdrop has gone fine so far. Although people here plan to  ddos pools and fork the coin ... seemingly at odds with common sense.
2719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PSA: Becareful of imposters on forum boards on: March 25, 2014, 05:41:10 PM
This fake Bittrex is created by MajorMiners (owners of some pools), who is one of the key team members of the HongKongCoin (HKC).

HongKongCoin key members (Scammers):
1. HongKongCoin
2. majorminers

Very likely HongKongCoin key members (Possible Scammers):
1. zsnorbi
2. whatthefugg
3. poornamelessme
4. provenceday

Apparently I made the list, although I've said the coin probably serves no purpose right now, never actually recommended the coin to anyone, and think most nation coins are silly. You have also repeatedly said I was Chinese (even though I'm not). You'll do best if you just stick with sane posts.

I agreed with you last night when you found the Bittrex thing. I don't agree that means we know who is using the fake account, but good catch finding it.
