Hi, guys.
My hashrate is 1.4MHS, I have solo mined for some hours, but couldn't get even a block.As the pool reward, 1MHS can get 1 block in 2 hours, did I set the cgminer wrong? Below is my grain.conf and cgminer.conf:

1.grain.conf
rpcuser=xxxx(my user name)
rpcpassword=xxxx(my password)
rpcport=11097
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0
testnet=0
listen=0
maxconnections=200
addnode=87.228.72.73

2.cgminer.conf
"pools" : [

{
      "url" : "localhost:11097",
      "user" : "walkerli.user",
      "pass" : "password"
   }

]
,
"intensity" : "17,17,17,17",
and another set about the gpu.

I confused why I can't get a block in 8 hours, do I need any other set, thanks!

Does the client's overview tab show a transaction tally ?

It shows there are 8 active connection. I here about solo mining need set the cgminer difficulty,is it true?

No. The difficulty is automatically set when cgminer connects to the client.

Please post a screenshot of Grain's overview page and cgminer.

example..

2703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin will visit the Council on Foreign Relations on: January 19, 2014, 02:44:26 PM
Maybe that is a terrible idea that will have awful consequences, but instead of rational discussion there's a knee-jerk GOVERNMENT BAD! that, in my humble opinion, is counter-productive to making the world a better place.

about a year ago I'd agree with that but after a lot of research I'd have to say that government IS bad as they no longer serve or represent the people, they have literally been taken over by banks and corporations.  I do agree it's best to work with them in the short term though - we need to reach a reasonable level of adoption before we can take back the power!

We need to stop confusing groups like the CFR with government. Just like Gavin, they are unelected officials.
2704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRA] Grain - New PoW/PoS coin | Fast, secure | Version 1.4 Released! on: January 19, 2014, 04:37:20 AM

LK7, GLX, BUK, MPL, COL and others are no different than GRA. Having solo'd them all, its easy for me to see the similarities.

Some have many orphans, some are PoS only... all are very problematic. Copy n paste coins.. period.

In a sense all coins after bitcoin litecoin,ppcoin and primecoin are copy and paste coins as they bring nothing new. The question is how the coin is handled after it appeared. You have seen my short discussion with LK7's dev. Most of these clones have no ongoing support from the devs after the coin is launched. Here I found an active developer who I decided to join when he offered.

We know COL and some other are pure PoS, but GRA is both PoS and PoW, and both blocks are generating. Hope with new algorithm the diff will be behaving more reasonably.

I have to agree that PoW/PoS coins have a lot more problems than PoW only coins, but we are actively fixing issues so hopefully Grain will work fine for both PoW and PoS.

If that is really the case, then why is Peercoin, the first PoS Pow hybrid, so stable ?

They have everything to lose !
2706  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL | Should Gavin decline or accept the CFR invite ? on: January 19, 2014, 04:18:54 AM
You people are naive.  I've said from day one there is no such thing as anonymous digital currencies and whatever digital currency is chosen as the global currency, it will be owned and controlled by the same powers who control money now, only they will use this new power of digital money to completely control the sheep masses who were too stupid to see this coming.

In other words, if Bitcoin doesn't play ball they will destroy it very easily via media propaganda and legislation and replace it with a different currency.  There will never be anything like ZeroCoin in circulation and you can bet if Bitcoin were to adopt ZeroCoin it would be destroyed.

So stop asking silly questions.  The real question is:  will Gavin et al obey the govt and banks all the way and if they don't which coin will they choose as its replacement?

That is the only relevant question.

You are, of course, absolutely right. And yes, Gavin and the rest of the Bitcoin developers will obey the government and the banksters.

Its not about "obeying" - its about co-operating so that bitcoin can operate in a regulated environment. Try operating an ATM or exchange if the feds are after you all the time.

Indeed. And I'm sure Satoshi would applaud such cooperation. That's why he said things like:

Quote
"Yes, [we will not find a solution to political problems in cryptography,] but we can win a major battle in the arms race and gain a new territory of freedom for several years. Governments are good at cutting off the heads of a centrally controlled networks like Napster, but pure P2P networks like Gnutella and Tor seem to be holding their own."

I beg to differ as you have severely misunderstood and/or underestimated Mr. Nakamoto's statement. He is in fact saying the complete opposite.

Moral and political reasoning aside, we simply DO NOT NEED THEM.

So.. go ahead.. ride that gator's back across the river. Wink

We absolutely need government support, or you end up with a currency that is just used for illegal activities and will eventually all be seized by the feds, just my 2 cents .....

It's not been about need.  We don't have a choice.  You people think the govts, the fed and banks are just gonna give up all that power, money and control to the masses?

Bhahahaaaaa.

That will never happen.  They can see these currencies can give them total control over the masses and they're gonna play it nice and slow to not scare anyone away but in the end whatever currency ends up being the global currency it will be controlled by the same people and they will use it to enslave the masses, err, fight poverty and terrorism.  lol.

But it can happen.

They are playing nice because they know we can throw the TOR and IP2 blankets over their heads and disappear from their radar.

@ empoweoqwj  I'm sooo tired of seeing people fall for the silk road/ illegal activities excuse/ cop out. eg. 70-90% of USD has traces of narcotics on it or is used in other illegal ways. Wink

If the devs actually tested them before launch, it wouldn't be so bad. Instead most of what we see are hyped pump it and dump it garbage run by newb account devs with nothing to lose should they ever decide to give up.

All the while, the few that are innovative and stable tend to go un-noticed.

The LK7 dev claims that the LK7 orphans are actually being stolen.

After seeing both of my GRA blocks orphan earlier, I can't help but wonder if the same problem is happening here.

The ledger should not be editting itself.

How could that happen?

From what I know, nodes can force the blockchain to only accept the blocks and/or transactions they choose. Something like a 51% attack..

@bee7  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=295157.msg4178498#msg4178498

This is a bit different for the PoW/PoS hybrid. While a well connected node with a plenty of the hashing power may win the race in broadcasting its PoW block it can't make the network accept more PoW blocks than the network would accept according to the 12/1 rule. ATM there should be no big coinstake in the malicious hands to influence PoS either.

As I posted today at some moment we even were behind the target - we had 22 PoW blocks out of 326 while expected number is 27.

I posted this on bitbop's rep thread hoping he/she would come to his/her senses and apologize for unjustly calling me a scammer.

bitbop trolled my scammer accusation thread against muddafudda, calling ME the scammer. Soon after I posted a negative trust entry on his profile for obvious reasons.

He /she has since retaliated by posting the negative trust on my profile. This is tantamount to slander. An outright assault on my good reputation.

Too bad you didn't do a little more research on him.

Edit the thread title to include his name, (eg. SCAMMER : ) post a negative trust rating and take this as a lesson learned.

Always use escrow.

So why not work within the guidelines.

Who's guidelines and what are those guidelines?
They are 1) I believe he has accepted so he is going
2) they expect an appearance  3) a big cardboard finger is left in front of the mic while he excuses himself and leaves.

Don't forget to include a caption that reads :

"On behalf of the people of the world who you have enslaved, occupied and bombed... "
