2701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HoboNickel giveaway--Best karma! on: October 01, 2013, 08:33:53 PM
Best coin of 2013, right here. Seriously. I expect Mt. Gox to list HoboNickels on their exchange by the end of the week, considering all of their staff are great advocates of the HoboNickel.
2702  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: *FREE BTC* -PrimeDice.com 0.00001 Per Minute Faucet on PD on: October 01, 2013, 08:29:29 PM

Will 10k satoshi comeback ever? That was the greatest gambling opportunity for people like me , just please figure a way to keep bots away and bring back the 10k satoshi deal already :/

Seconded.  Even if it isn't raised back to 10k satoshi, it would be nice to have it raised to 5k satoshi or something like that.  1k satoshi makes it damn near impossible to rack up enough to cash out something.

You can blame bots for that. Sigh.

@Stunna: reCaptcha? Why not Solve Media? At least you'd get some cash for your faucet promotion. (I said this to bitcoininfo too)
2703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If the American Economy Tanks... on: October 01, 2013, 08:26:40 PM
"If the American economy tanks......."

No possibility the solution has been found .

The 1 Trillion dollar coin will be minted in latest news , but apparently out of storage concerns the coin will be set into a comically oversized hat that will be worn by the Federal Reserve Chairman .

I guess kind of like a "  Coin hat " ?

US government advisors stated that the coin hat will need to be purposly comically oversized to show citizens and foriegners alike that of the coin hat wealth and power , and the subsequent wealth and power of thd coin therein placed in the coin hat.

There were arguments about what the oversized coinhat will be made out of , but most settled on a type of light alloy allowing the real 1T coin  to be set decoratively into the front , as the Fed chairman will only wear the coinhat when speaking offically about matter of the funing of the US gov debt.

Once the coinhat is handed to the to Fed chairman in an offical crowning the US government can continue normal function .

There will be a small after party apparently some dancing to mark the occasion and possibly the invasion of a small and insignifigant nation , people rumored it may be the Micronesia islands. Just to mark the occasion .

Erm. Yeah. That wasn't a really good joke, you don't simply

a) mint $1 trillion even if you're the U.S Gov
b) wear it in a fucking hat for someone to steal

http://www.businessinsider.com.au/breathe-easy-even-if-the-government-is-shut-down-we-can-still-mint-the-coin-2013-9

lol

...brb gonna go pick my jaw up, honestly thought that was a joke.

What the fuck is this shit?
2704  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Lifetime Mining Contracts | 1 Gh/s=30$ on: October 01, 2013, 08:20:32 PM
If this is legit then I can see how it could work. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of risk as you're pretty new to the community. Use escrow for the first few orders so that people can test the waters.
2705  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinobit - LIVE ROULETTE - [INVEST] - BEST CASINO OF 2013 on: October 01, 2013, 08:18:37 PM
How many BTC did you sell the site for?

I find it hard to believe that he sold the site...yet alone that he got BTC for it! Maybe the scripts and pages...probably not the name. CasinoBit is a ruined name now.
2706  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: FREE 0,03 BTC for Customers that leave feedback - www.coin-daddy.com on: October 01, 2013, 08:15:16 PM
is the offer still open?

Thanks for gravedigging a 25 day old thread! No, it's probably not still open.

No-one is helped by you gravedigging threads.
2707  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Bitcointalk Forum Accounts for Sale - Not Hacked on: October 01, 2013, 08:13:44 PM
Yeah Im gonna pay 80 bux to have 100 accounts on an internet forum to choose from to bump my thread...Highly Likely Indeed! LMAO Undecided
Yeah man this is some fuck upped shit going on here.
Are Admins not looking at this subforum or what?

It is sick and nothing better than that to in the first place sell these damn things, and the second placeto buy them.

OP obviously knows that 99/100 of the accounts he will never sell will be used to scam people and this is to be taken seriously...
Are there many instances where a scammer has paid $10-$100 for an old account, made posts, gained reputation, then scammed someone?

Made posts and rep? Nah. It's always just buying accounts and using them straight away, like the good ole' legitnick case:

(yes, the real legitnick did sell his account, he didn't personally partake in the scams)
2708  Economy / Lending / Re: Boelens and Bitcoininformation's micro-(ish)loans. on: October 01, 2013, 08:11:24 PM
It sounds strange me. He is your friend, but doesn't loan you money to invest. Meh, I don't know. I might loan you it, I might not. I haven't made up my mind yet.

Please i need the loan!

When you say something like this, you're kinda sealing the deal that you're not going to get a loan. It just screams "I'm a desperate scammer, please give me money!".
2709  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: GaiusMaximus - scamming kncminer shares- 10 bitcoin bounty on his head on: October 01, 2013, 08:02:25 PM
Also noted that Gaius' writing style is similar to that of Oron's.
2710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin credit cards? on: October 01, 2013, 07:52:35 PM
Okay, seriously, couldn't a corporation similar to a Building Society hold your Bitcoins off-the-chain for things like debit card payments? Much easier than having your private key exposed, and it's pretty safe.
2711  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: GaiusMaximus - scamming kncminer shares - bounty on his head on: October 01, 2013, 07:33:31 PM

2712  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: UPDATED: betcoindice.tm scam has not paid me nor shows verification on: October 01, 2013, 07:21:58 PM
We keep 25,000 BTC per each

Is there any proof of this? betcoindice doesn't actually look like a 3 million dollar project to me. I also highly doubt that they can pay out a 1 million dollar jackpot...
2713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Babysitting Bitcoin users on: October 01, 2013, 06:14:06 PM
If Bitcoin does go mainstream, then I think that most people will become more proficient with computers, and they will probably be able to manage their own Bitcoin wallets. If not, then yeah, you'll get banks that hold your Bitcoin.

But most people couldn't keep their electronic devices free of malware even if their lives depended on it.

Sigh, I hate how this is true. I guess that if Bitcoin did come to be mainstream, you'd get more specialized AV software ("Protect your Bitcoin today!) for protection.
2714  Economy / Speculation / Re: government shutdown on: October 01, 2013, 06:12:53 PM
how will government shutdown effect btc?
Search function usage will suffer serious decline:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=305605

And thread quality will drop to a value close to 0. OP, use the search function.

To answer your question, BTC will attract a lot more interest, and governments will be put under massive scrutiny by the public. It isn't currently a good idea for governments to attempt to shutdown Bitcoin.
2715  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin credit cards? on: October 01, 2013, 06:10:51 PM
True, I was thinking about this last night and the best solution would seem to be built in PIN like the debit cards used in Europe and Canada.
"Chip debit cards encrypt all information stored on them, increasing your safety when completing a transaction."

This will prevent merchant from having ALL your info just on the magstripe.

I still don't understand how this will work.  The merchant can't move the bitcoins from your address unless they have your unencrypted private key.  Once they have your unencrypted private key, there is nothing that prevents them from saving it and re-using it in the future.

It seems that what is needed is a card that has a processor, display, and input interface built into it, the card would be placed with some sort of electrical contacts interfacing with the merchant's terminal.  The terminal would request the bitcoin addresses known by the card.  The terminal would then search the blockchain for unspent outputs associated with those addresses.  The terminal would build an unsigned transaction and submit the transaction to the card requesting a signature. The card would then display the transaction amount on its built in display.  The card owner would verify that the displayed amount was correct, and would use the card's built in input interface to indicate acceptance.  The card would reply to the terminal with a signed transaction.  The terminal would then broadcast the transaction to the bitcoin network.

Patience, my son.

That's what the chip debit card is for.

Once you insert your card in the terminal, the terminal prompts the customer for their PIN number. The customer inserts their PIN number into the terminal. Since all terminals are PCI compliant nowadays, the inputted PIN is encrypted and cannot be recorded by the merchant or anyone else. This is all done now with Canadian and European debit cards, this is not just theory.

To break it down, when the customer enters in the PIN number via the terminal, this "unlocks" the Bitcoin address private key to proceed with the transaction. The transaction amount displays on the terminal screen, and the customer presses OK if it is correct. Simple.

I worked for many years in the credit card processing industry, so I know about these things. To be honest, I'm surprised this hasn't already been done. If people want to join together to do this, let's go for it Wink

Or, even simpler, we just use off-the-chain services that allow you to withdraw to the Blockchain whenever you want to. Most people will be using off-the-chain services in the future, anyway.

Did anyone try to explain to nakowa that the site can't possibly be rigged at all because math?

This guy is rich, so his logic is "Fuck logic".
2717  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Will (you know, for dead peeps) on: October 01, 2013, 05:08:43 PM
Formatting does not erase or wipe the drive. You need to overwrite every byte and every sector. Try DBAN.

Hmm, I thought that formatting a hard drive about 50 times would erase almost all (yes, I know not all, but almost all) of the data. ._.

http://www.dban.org/ does look more reliable though...
2718  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Got Scam on Ebay!! Please beware of this seller! on: October 01, 2013, 04:39:32 PM
THIS IS A MAJOR FLAW of BtC

Ffs people, if you're not dumb and trade with trusted people or use escrow, nothing bad happens. This is not a major flaw, this prevents scamming via chargebacks. Nothing stops someone from taking your cash irl and running off, so in real life situations Bitcoin will be fine.

Sorry for your loss, though.
2719  Economy / Lending / Re: Stunna's 0% interest mini loans on: October 01, 2013, 04:37:06 PM
Hahaha... Whenever Stunna says denied, it reminds me of a TV show! Cheesy

Dragon's Den? :S

No, Susie Orman show! Tongue

He has to go "DENIED!" every time, that would make more dramatic. I like that show a lot though. She is a little more animated than Dave Ramsey.

Stunna could you make it all dramatic? Tongue

I don't know, it might hurt some of the newbies feelings when they go to ask for an innocent loan and have "DENIED!" shouted at them. Although it will definitely be a kick in the arse for scammers. Wink
2720  Economy / Lending / Re: Need help funding an 8 BTC loan @ 7.5% on BTCJam.com << High RISK / High REWARD on: October 01, 2013, 04:34:31 PM
Thank you tomatocage, though I still do feel that your negative comment is a little premature.  I believe you could of just left a regular comment.  It kinda hurts to see that negative rating, so early in my registration on bitcointalk.org.

People do their scams on new accounts.  No one wants to waste time building reputation only to scam a few months or a year later.

Unless you're candoo. Oh wait...he failed. Cheesy

Also, look at pirate. He got quite a bit of rep and made off with some nice $$$...despite getting busted in the end.
