Hoertest, generosity is a virtue, and virtues have long-term and short-term benefits. There's absolutely no need to be less than virtuous, ever.

There is little doubt in my mind that Dan's review will be beneficial to all parties, and mostly to XC.

Incidentally this doesn't take anything away from the idea that this is a competition.

It is a competition. The competition is to develop the best tech. And XC is way, way ahead on that front.

How we communicate, and how we treat others, is not where we compete. Treating others with generosity and respect in no way hinders our lead in the competition; in fact, it fosters goodwill, trust, mutual generosity, and encourages others to support XC. So if it has any effect on tech, the effect will be indirect, and mostly positive.

Dan,
I think what you did for keycoin tells that you are a truly stand up guy and will not only increase your reputation, but also help XC as a whole.
Thank yiu for that....not even a key holder, just wanted to give respect for that.

Now the fact that we already know your identity, what would you say about getting the first 5/5 rating for Proof of Developer from either CryptoAsian or counsource?  Or both?

+1. I'm all for a 5/5 rating on this count.

***The XC Daily Update***

Hello all

Today,
- Dan and Christian are working on... undisclosed tech

- Rob and I have been discussing media strategy for said undisclosed tech

- And you should retweet, like/share, and generally spread the following:

"Imagine instant messages did not disclose your IP, used no-one's servers, and left no trace on your computer. #XC #XChat #privacy #byebyeNSA"

Cheers pal!  Wish u could give eta, I'm getting excited,  but understand you can't.

What do you think about the paper Wallet conversation? Team got it planned?  Would you like someone from the community to do it if they can?

I like the idea. Anything that makes XC more concrete and physical is great.

By all means, community members are welcome to go for it.

If anyone makes a paper wallet generator, it's probably best to contact me or Dan afterwards. We could check the code, get a great UI designed, etc.

I'm starting to believe i'm on tekas ignore list  Smiley,
can someone please tell him to change that title, i mean monero has bloet issues , cloak doesn't seem to be trustless, so we should project we have as solution in our headline.

He's not been well lately.

I know its posted somewhere, but can someone tell me how to setup staking?

http://xc-official.com/wallet/

Head down to the section titled "Sending coins (advanced)"

I wrote this how-to so if I were to tell you afresh here I'd simply be repeating myself, and not as clearly.

Send between 50 and 500 coins to separate addresses using coin control. That'll give you regular interest from staking.

***The XC Daily Update***

Hello all

I hope you've been relishing the reality of truly private chat this weekend!

Today the Daily Update takes the form of a question:

What's more secure than Protonmail, more anonymous than Tails, and doesn't need to use TOR exit nodes?

Stay tuned over the coming days for the answer...

protonmail secured emailing... now we got xchat... but I guess if Xchat is upgraded it could server both functions...

tails is operating system using tor network.. wth?? maybe something even more important being integrated into XC?

I think whatever the case, the PR fund should be used at this point to move the market, many people are frustrated with recent scams and low volumes, and will turn to solid investments

Well, I'll say right now that XChat is more secure than Protonmail already, since both are encrypted from end to end, yet Protonmail is centralised and thus prone to DDOS, hacking, downtime, government shutdown, military invasion, etc. while XChat has no such insecurities.

But enough hints for now... ;-)

whatever the case, check my previous post. XC is not final release, but I think after the next release, some PR funds should be spent, people need to know of XC in these uncertain times.

That's the plan all along though. I mean, there's paid PR for the final Rev 2 release, more paid PR for Rev 2.5, thanks to the community, and yet more on Rev 3.

Basically any time there's genuine newsworthiness,  we'll let the press know. And of course all the other publicity (social media, etc.) comes along with that.

Did you guys see this:

http://www.pressat.co.uk/releases/moopay-to-take-over-management-and-operation-of-mintpal-trading-exchange-1dd1fa210bae35f9d9f6355a6cf9d172/

Moolah.io is to take over operations at Mintpal.

Hopefully this acquisition can help restore confidence and overall volume to the alt coin markets.

They say in their blog post about it that they are going to make a real push to clear out the scam coins and to vet new coins more thoroughly before adding them. Anything like that has got to be good news for coins like XC with genuine innovation and a long term plan.

Yeah, this is great. It'll effectively be a coin audit, which is something we've been in need of for some time.

It's such a joke that XC currently is only worth 4 mil in market cap.  Will see how long it stays this low....

BTC's on a downtrend. People want to get out of cryptoland and back into USD, so it's not surprising that XC's not rising.

But even a BTC drop to $450 won't be profitable if XC goes from 0.00126 to 0.0017.

So sellers should watch out this week. Ha ha.

Very cool. I'd love to trade XC against USD when BTC is on a downtrend. It would help us become independent of it. Like now.

How about the UI update preview?  Grin

Heh. Rev 2.5 ;-)

End Of July? Make me Jizz

You mean that gif doesnt do it for you?? Cheesy

That gif... oh man.

REV 2.5 is end of July? Yay if thats correct..

No, Cryptico came up with that date. We've said nothing of the sort.

Please, everyone, don't trust information without first checking official announcements. Imagine I'd not been here and this "end of July" notion started to get amplified?

I just wanted confirmation of that date. I remember that Dan was saying it would come up on a similar time frame end of july first two weeks in august in IRC while testing Rev 1.5 I believe or Rev 2 I don't remember which rev. I did not want to create any false expectations if I did I can Apology for that.

Sure, no worries. I wasn't in IRC for testing so I can't verify that.

There's not a whole lot more work to do on Rev 2, but there've been no official announcements regarding a date, so it's realistic not to assume any particular date.

please share the new privacy feature before. Also last try for new thread title. Cheesy

The undisclosed privacy feature will come before Rev 2.5, because it's a Rev 2 feature. :-)

As for a new thread title, you'll have to ask Teka because he's the moderator. How about "[ANN][XCurrency] Trustless mixing; multipath; encrypted P2P instant messaging"

Hi guys, I haven't been following this thread for a while.

I have a quick question: Have you implemented  Xnode system where you stake the 550XC to run the node?

They removed the requirement to have 550 XC to be an Xnode.   That might change later on, but for now, you don't need it.  Every wallet is an Xnode now.

I see. I think this is one of the reasons why this coin hasn't taken off, people want to earn extra coins through running a node, unless i'm mistaken and you get a payment for running a Xnode?

Yes but the payment has not yet been decided and is not active in the node yet. I think this will be added in Rev 2.5 Synechist might be able to clarify.

The sooner we get a fee for running an Xnode the sooner this coin takes off.

+1

waiting for this since i first heard the word xnode!

Yes I think there is some degree of an incentive to use XC if Xnode fees are charged.

However I do not think the incentive is all that great, since the fees will not be particularly high.

(And if the fees were high, then we'd disincentivise people from using XC to make payments.)

To my mind by far the greatest incentive to invest in XC is its solid fundamentals. At this stage you make money out of investing early, not by processing transactions.

Transaction fees would become a viable income when XC becomes truly mainstream. Before then, they're just not that much of an incentive.

That said, we're still considering what fees will be charged for private transactions, and whether there's sufficient warrant for a minimum wallet balance. We will, of course, keep you posted on this as things develop.

Just don't expect it to change people's behaviour much when we announce these details. What'll change wallet usage is Privacy Mode and a great client for secure instant messaging, and those are on the way.

This an old post where i was suggesting some idea to support the cost of running an xnode and balance the fact that when you reserve a balance you dont stake that reserve and lost the 3,3% of interest in staking.
Right now i dont know if running the new wallet use again this reserve balance.

http://xctalk.com/index.php?/topic/71-xnode-and-the-incentive-to-run-it/

Using this technology for becoming anonym cant be free that my vision.

Discuss ?

At present it isn't free to make an anonymous transaction. It costs 0.00001XC, or something (can't remember).

You can run your Xnode and earn 3.33% interest on your entire balance; you no longer have to lose out on the interest on the 550XC that you previously had to reserve for an Xnode.

In future we may increase the transaction fee, and this would pay Xnode owners to keep their apps running. However I doubt that we'll do this for the following reasons:
- increasing fees will disincentivise people from using XC
- XChat will incentivise people to keep their apps running, so we won't need to provide a further incentive.

However there may still be use-cases for trusted Xnodes. In such cases there's a reason to require a minimum balance and charge higher fees. I'm honestly not sure what these use-cases are because I haven't chatted about it with Dan in enough detail yet, but this could be one (of several?) ways in which you can earn transaction fees for running an Xnode.
