How have you determined the power supply costs $200? I have never paid that for a PSU, and that includes the behemoth powering the computer I'm typing this message on(PCP&C 850). If I had paid $200 for a PSU I'd expect to power no less than 5 bASICs with it AND the computer feeding them making the cost for PSUs $40/bASIC...actually less if you're also powering a computer.

BFL products would've been fairly valued IMO if they'd released them in October when they "scheduled shipments". Their customers would've had a ridiculously brief ROI and be profitable already. At this point I believe they're horribly overpriced for a launch against stiff competition in January of 2013.
2722  Other / Off-topic / Re: Already delays in BFL shipment plans? on: December 06, 2012, 07:18:32 PM
if your going to look at it like that, how do you think the pizza guy feels about his 10k btc....
if everyone thinks like that, it means noone is going to spend any coins cause they think its going to be worth shitloads of fiat crap sometime in the future.

if noone spends coins, noone wants coins wich makes them worthless...

back to topic, gogo cancel your asics! make the queue shorter for the rest of us Tongue

That's a horrible oversimplification. I've missed out on about 14% of the rise in value of the 55ish BTC I used to purchase one bASIC01 unit since I ordered them in mid October(I paid for 1.5 units in FRNs). As I was expecting the units in the next week or two and that's now not going to happen I will likely be paying more in "opportunity costs" lost in the near future.

Had I paid BFL in the summer in BTC for gear that was supposed to be delivered in October, I'd probably be collecting addresses of those responsible for stealing from me right now.
2723  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: bad news for bASIC - not shipping til mid Jan at best on: December 06, 2012, 06:56:28 PM
BFL knows GD well they won't be shipping products during the holiday shopping season. It's just BS that they offhandedly peddle misinformation to paying customers.
2724  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Development Status [Batch #1] on: December 06, 2012, 06:47:54 PM
Actually I'm beginning to believe that's *THE ONLY* BFL rep and his response was as usual completely meaningless.
2725  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL are expecting 100,000 chips... on: December 06, 2012, 06:23:26 PM
A power supply? Come on miners tend to have baskets of these...this miner certainly does. I've seen multiple posts already by people claiming to be BFL customers asking what BFL will do to match BTCFPGA prices/performance.
2726  Other / Off-topic / Re: So it is December 4th and BFL hasn't delivered...big surprise on: December 06, 2012, 06:20:26 PM
I'm stressed, yeah it helps to discuss it.
2727  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Development Status [Batch #1] on: December 06, 2012, 06:16:48 PM
...and for this bASIC customer. Stress is high, though it'd be higher if deadlines were made and broken every two weeks instead of two months.
2728  Other / Off-topic / Re: Already delays in BFL shipment plans? on: December 06, 2012, 06:12:56 PM
But until then... I will just sit back and watch the race for the first ASIC develop with a much lower stress level!  Grin

I'll be joining you soon if this continues. I'm getting stressed waiting for bASIC to release info. An empty wiki page is not going to cut it. Angry
2729  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Development Status [Batch #1] on: December 06, 2012, 06:10:28 PM
So what was supposed to take 25 days from Halloween?
2730  Other / Off-topic / Re: So it is December 4th and BFL hasn't delivered...big surprise on: December 06, 2012, 06:08:32 PM
More delays = more threads. The bASIC delay threads are just getting revved up.
2731  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BFL ASIC worth the risk for pre-order? on: December 06, 2012, 06:06:58 PM
back to the topic.  As you can see from my signature I am one of the faithful and believe BFL will deliver.  The main reason being is ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) are not some mystery piece of tech that has just emerged over the last couple of months to satisfy Bitcoin miners.  ASICs have been around for some time. When you hear of something being "implemented in hardware" they are most likely referring to an ASIC.  There are even ASICs used for cryptography that perform  sha256 already in existence.  What BFL is offering an enhancement to existing tech that is focused on Bitcoin mining.

So yes it is worth it and they will deliver.

They'll most likely deliver, the question is WHEN and how high will difficulty be by that time?
2732  Other / Off-topic / Re: Should BFL get a scammer tag? on: December 06, 2012, 05:57:43 PM
I can agree to that possibility.  It still doesn't equate to lying, and I still give them the benefit of the doubt.

When does that benefit get retracted? These folks are dishonest. BFL reps are still peddling the prospect of late December shipping to customers, that's just flat out lying given what we know about the state of their assembly process.
2733  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: bad news for bASIC - not shipping til mid Jan at best on: December 06, 2012, 05:53:35 PM
So you believe a random web article's dates vs the dates given by BFL themselves?  Did you ever consider the possibility that the article could be incorrect?   Roll Eyes

I certainly do. BFL reps don't tell the truth...see the above email received from Debbie. If they STILL don't have chips in early Dec how are they ever going to ship in late Dec? That's just unrealistic nonsense.
2734  Other / Off-topic / Re: Already delays in BFL shipment plans? on: December 06, 2012, 05:48:25 PM
Of course you can still comment/complain about them. BFL's policies effect everyone associated with BTC.
2735  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL are expecting 100,000 chips... on: December 06, 2012, 05:45:18 PM
Indeed. BFL is already under pressure to lower prices.
2736  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: bad news for bASIC - not shipping til mid Jan at best on: December 06, 2012, 08:09:03 AM
I'm not sending any ASIC vendors another bitcent until I see some evidence of progress...and that goes double for BFL. I haven't a clue what's going on with that weirdo company.

lol, it's probably just ONE guy in his pajamas manufacturing the illusion of an entire company. Grin
2737  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Development Status [Batch #1] on: December 06, 2012, 08:03:17 AM
BFL is supposedly getting chips from Asia next week.
2738  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Development Status [Batch #1] on: December 06, 2012, 07:31:18 AM
That'd be my take as well. These Avalon guys are having fun milking it anyway. Smiley
2739  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Development Status [Batch #1] on: December 06, 2012, 07:09:27 AM
Well stop beating the bush to death and spill it man! Grin
2740  Other / Off-topic / Re: So it is December 4th and BFL hasn't delivered...big surprise on: December 06, 2012, 04:35:08 AM
BFL is allegedly outsourcing the PCBs for their first batch. If they still officially have batches.
