2724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the point of reducing block rewards over time? on: January 17, 2014, 09:05:06 PM
The actual reason is to make money of course, everything anyone else says is lies, FUD and disinfo

quark took this to the extreme and it made them millions in less than half a year.

The actual reason is to create diminishing production which results in a finite supply.
2725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the point of reducing block rewards over time? on: January 17, 2014, 08:58:48 PM
I always assumed it was anticipation of technological development. It becomes much easier to mine over time due to computing power increasing, hence the payout decreasing, attempting "fairness" in the long haul.

Doesn't increasing difficulty do the same though?

The code adjusts difficulty to offset coin output based on network hashrate.

So coin output is a relative constant (steady) and not determined by changing hashrate or difficulty as you believe.
2726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: With over 340 different cryptocurrencies out there, which is your favorite? on: January 16, 2014, 02:11:43 AM

So after browsing the forums for a little while and seeing all of the alt cryptocurrencies out there, I am wondering, with all of the Coingen crappers, pump and dump coins, and failcoins out there, which ones do you all still favor and see as a big player for this year? Feel free to post whatever coin you want, if I come across a new one I will add it to my list and probably make a poll with everyone listed for you guys to vote on. Thoughts?

We've been working super hard over the past 6 months improving the coin's fundamentals and growing the community. Take a look at Goldcoin and come see me on the forum for a few dozen free coins to get you started. I think you'll like what you find.

I consider BTC an altcoin. Cheesy

GLDTalk.org is a "pro-goldcoin" forum.

So basically, anything that is beneficial and helpful to the growth and betterment of Goldcoin is not only allowed and encouraged, it's essential to the development of the currency. This includes constructive criticism.

However, there is a tendency for longtime users of BCT and others to arrive and mistakenly take this as a no-holds-barred free speech type platform. And then there are the trolls that arrive on TOR networks playing various games intent on distraction, disruption, and inciting drama.

If I do my job correctly, most of these problems are handled quickly and pass by unnoticed by the general community. Before banning a user I take into consideration his age, network of origin, history, and other factors. But post moderation and disciplinary actions are not exact sciences and occasionally a community member can fall victim to collateral damage.

If you feel you were unfairly blocked or banned (there are only 8 total and some of those are multi regs) please send me a PM.

It is sad, this coin had potential. it sucks 1 guy (with multiple accounts) is destroying it.

It really doesn't matter how many accounts this guy/girl opens. It's actually having zero impact on the coin's success.
