It's no wonder (the very rare non-sockpuppet) bloatblockers are such blithering idiots that they don't even understand what is being discussed. I mean, they fell for such ridiculous propaganda as "OMG! The sky is falling Jan 2016, so we need to bloat blocks to 20MB right away!" And when the sky didn't fall as predicted, did they learn ANYTHING? No sir, they beelined for the next bait fed to them. Oh, humanity.
Can confirm ^^that's exactly what happened. I was there. I saw it all go down.

Some random reddit users from outside the general cryptocurrency world are stumbling onto the monero reddit and becoming interested in crypto. Pretty cool. Reddit user growth seems to be accelerating.
Outside is leaking?!

Ubuntu? Meh, good enough for a toy prototype version. Debian? Better. Qubes (ie Fedora)? Umm... OpenBSD? Now we're talking!

Christ....I remember when this thread was about walls, trading, speculation and general 'doom' or 'moon'...now its just page after page of people talking incomprehensible blockchain bollox and petty politics.
There has always been some sort of crisis threatening the very existence of BTC, get used to it.
So, all the bed-wetters getting worked up about this: you do realise there are entire sections of this site devoted to these topics. Perhaps you could all fuck off to those pages and stop boring everyone me to tears with your endless segwit, hardfork fuckwittery.
Or, perhaps you could learn to accept the Gavinista insurgency has large implications for OP ("Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion.") Cite: http://bitcoinocracy.com/arguments/decidedYou can always start your own self-moderated "No Blocksize Discussion Allowed" thread. Why don't you fuck off to such a greener pasture, and stop adding to amount of whining on this one?

Heh, you cant hold the argument, so its dDos...
A successful ddos of Classic demonstrates the validity of arguments of the form " Core is antifragile and deserves to live; Classic is brittle and deserves to die." Stop blaming the messenger just because you don't like the message.

Segwit gives the same capacity increase as your hard-fork,
Segwit is accounting fraud. It actually has higher bandwidth demand than a simple blocksize bump of equal effect. Your post is linguistic and conceptual fraud. There is nothing "simple" about a contentious hard fork. Segwit is an elegant solution to numerous extant problems, and the opposite of Classic's hacky, kludgey, hamfisted, simpleton approach.

look at them Classic nodes springing up! Like mushrooms after an autumn rain Actually, those classic nodes are more like fungus spreading on the corpses of XT/unlimited nodes. ☐ not rekt ☑ rekt

All that brazen supercilious venom spewed over the last year with potentially nothing to show for haha.
Yes, that's exactly what makes the noisy but supremely ineffectual XT Lolcows such fun to milk. Remember last summer, when the brazenly contentious XT fork was supposed to happen in January 2016? Pepperidge Farm remembers!

... let the DDOSing begin now that techignorati who use binaries because they can't build from source are wandering stupidly into the badlands. tally-ho
And that pretty much sums up your scumbag attitude. I bet you have giftcards for sale too, paid for by stolen credit cards. You are a real asset to the core-devs, a like minded fellow traveler. Don't blame the messenger. It's just reality that Bitcoin cannot be DDOSed but Classic can and will be. The antifragile project deserves to live, the wimpy fork does not. Better post here while you still can. I expect your ISP will be nuked from space shortly after you turn on your obnoxious Classic troll node. When you phone in to cry to customer service, be sure to tell them you were running a server on your residential connection, and that server effectively painted a giant target on their back(bone).

Toomincoin is Classic?
Yes. Two brothers and a bunch of shady guys like Marshall Long for instance are behind Classic.Furthermore the list of comeptent developers supporting it is small. I will stay with Bitcoin core as they are having the most competence and understanding of Bitcoin plus the majority of developers backing it. From a technical point of view there's no doubt imo why I should switch the client. Regarding of what Bitcoin should be in the future I think so as well. A decentralized settlement layer where on top of that other layers and services (3rd party as well if wished and needed) can be build. But not the other way around. We already have a paypal out there. So should Toomincoin win out what exactly is the fear, loss of direction, centralization and capitalistic goals? If Toomincoin wins, the reasons for Bitcon's existence (precluding the moral hazards of majoritarianism) are extinguished. Honey Badger cannot live as a slave. If the Gavinistas put him in chains, he will simply die. They cannot force him to give a shit. The large coin holders that support Bitcoin will dump like there is literally no tomorrow, because they didn't sign up for ToominCoin. Here is the cryptographically assured proof: http://bitcoinocracy.com/arguments/decided.

There are a lot of people who do not want Bitcoin to be another PayPal or a VISA competitor. I disagree with them, because I think the cheaper micro transactions capability of Bitcoin is one of it's strongest advantages.
The fantasy of making BTC into yet another PayPal or VISA competitor is never going to happen on Layer One. Bitfury Valery permanently demolished that nonsense in this domination post. https://medium.com/@BitFuryGroup/keep-calm-and-bitcoin-on-4f29d581276

I think so, since it's been in segwit testnet since last year. Part of Elements Alpha IIRC.
Any segwit-Via follow up? Is it worked out behind closed doors? In that case, I expect no answer yet. Are funds available to pay for segwit implementation in VIA? IDK what the budget looks like, but it would be nice to keep our lead as the most technologically advanced Bitcoin fork. If the money and dev(s) aren't a constraint, why not go ahead and put in all of Elements Alpha?

We are not going in the right direction with Evolution.
Monetary tokens are a kind of scared commodity that is very rare. We cannot f*ck with such a commodity.
If you think you have it is so rare that your entire effort needs to go to consolidating its existence and nothing else. If it has any value, the people will create a huge ecosystem around it.
You should make a list of things needed to consolidate Dash's status as a "sacred commodity" (which should be prioritized higher than Evolution unicorn-chasing). Quick, do it before the Evan's Gate Rehabilitation Project Force shoves you in a van and take you out to sea!

So who is behind the name Toomincoin?
And what's this I keep hearing about Blockstream buying Bitcoin for 55 million dollars? Are we supposed to say "Bitcoin TM A Product Of Blockstream Corporation" or "Bitcoin TM Brought to you by [The] Blockstream Corporation"? So many questions... Don't know about that just wondered why Toomincoin turned into the new name for a bitcoin fork. Toomin has the "final call" in Classic. He's trying to replace Bitcoin's existing governance structure and protocol with ones he is in control of. So we call his vanity fork ToominCoin. Thank you, clear answer. btw by final call on classic do you mean he has that much mining share he has a huge vote %? No, Toomin's "final call" on Classic means he is in control of the code repository. He might even figure out how to sign commits, eventually.
|
|
|
Stupid question maybe but I missed the reason...
Why is everyone calling bitcoin_classic, Toomincoin ?
Because Toomin has the "final call" like Hearn does with XT. This final call is due to voting share based on mining share? No, the final call is due to control of the code repository.
