2741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is more real than money in the Bank on: July 23, 2021, 06:10:03 AM

Yes this is what the state and central banks are afraid of, bitcoin can't be controlled so that the central bank and government ban bitcoin, but I'm sure the bitcoin community that has tens of millions around the world certainly has the power to make the government ban is useless.
I think they are looking for new ways to ban bitcoin and restrict people from using bitcoin. KYC is their biggest weapon, I believe once kyc is effective on all crypto platforms the next stage would be imposing taxes on bitcoin.
2742  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin is more real than money in the Bank on: July 21, 2021, 09:55:44 AM

Few years after forcing everyone to take their gold to the bank, the US president, Nixon in 1971 stopped everyone from having the right to convert their gold to fiat. Isn't that stealing? Government resent bitcoin because they can't control it like they did in 1971. Very soon, it will be illegal to own bitcoin in some countries, not because bitcoin is bad, but because bitcoin gives you the power to own your money. Bitcoin is more real than your money in the bank. Be your own bank by investing and learning about bitcoin.

2743  Other / Meta / Re: Plagiarism: Where Do We Draw the Line? on: July 20, 2021, 11:18:05 AM
And blah blah blah.  OP, are you trying to get merits here?  All I'm seeing is a bloated post that's going over everything most members of the forum know about, especially those who read threads in Meta.  In addition to that, it'd be better if newbies just read the rules before making their first post.
It would be easier if newbies read the rules before posting but they don't obviously. Its like buying a device and not reading the manual. Mistakes are bound to happen. Same users do not read the terms and conditions before signing up
Why didn't you post this in Beginners & Help?  It would seem more appropriate in that section if you're trying to warn newcomers, but my guess is that your signature campaign doesn't pay for posts in B&H (though I could be wrong).
Thanks! Maybe B&H would be more suitable for this kind of discussion. And yes you're wrong the purpose of this post wasn't to complete post quota.

In any case, pretty much everyone knows what stealing someone else's words means, whether it's paraphrasing, using a text spinner, or doing a simple copy/paste.  There's no need for a thread like this.
Then how do you explain the cases of users getting banned. If you strongly believe the thread is useless you could simply just ignore. No need to bump it further
2744  Other / Meta / Plagiarism: Where Do We Draw the Line? on: July 19, 2021, 08:15:37 PM
Plagiarism destroys one’s reputation, the penalty is an immediate ban of the user. IMHO many newbies tend to plagiarise because they don't read the rules and guidelines.
“No idea is completely new, only evolving” Many writers get ideas and inspiration from other writers, but you cannot copy a chunk of sentences from another writer word for word without being accused of plagiarism. Paraphrasing doesn't help either. Plagiarism can be accidental or intentional. Example of intentional plagiarism is when a post is written in one language is rewritten in another and posted in local board without citing the original poster. I don’t quite know where the forum stands on accidental plagiarism. When newbies ( I use newbies as a case study because I believe they are more likely to plagiarise although I do not have the stats to prove that) are interested in a particular topic they gather all sorts of information, this may eventually cause problems distinguishing between common knowledge, facts and information that needs citation.

2746  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The best pronoun to describe Satoshi Nakamoto? on: July 19, 2021, 03:39:20 AM
Satoshi Nakamoto remains a myth...a legend like bigfoot, or Santa only his bread crumbs( bitcoin) is forever in our face as proof of his existence. Rumours about the identity of Satoshi: Satoshi is a Russian spy, Satoshi is british, Nakamoto is a group of developers, or even a woman  Shocked No one is going to criticize you for using a pronoun to describe Satoshi Nakamoto because no one really knows. The mystery is what keeps us going, drives us for the next knowledge as man is naturally curious.

2748  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk doesn't get enough recognition for its contribution to crypto on: July 18, 2021, 12:31:56 AM
Ah, NFTs are very overrated IMO.  I don't see the real value in them and certainly don't see why people have paid outrageous prices for them in the past.  And why would anyone in their right mind pay money for a collection of Satoshi's posts on bitcointalk when they could just create a compilation of them themselves?  It's not like they're some rare writings that have disappeared from the internet.
NFTs are considered digital art. Why does anyone buy art? I don't understand why they are so expensive btw. A lot of people are psyched about NFTs for one reason or the other. Jack Dorsey the founder of Twitter sold  his first tweet for just under $3 million. Crazy right?
2749  Other / Meta / Re: Is Bitcointalk.org losing user base? on: July 18, 2021, 12:15:45 AM
For instance, if there is a reward for a newbie who under few months grew an account to full member without spamming or plagerising, it will in no doubt jealous others to begin to make merit-worth posts.
Jealousy isn't the motivation that will prove helpful. The merit system in itself is enough to motivate one.
The Bitcointalk Urban Achievers Merit Scholarship Program is good motivation

In the case of hostile welcome of newbies by older members. I am happy a legendary member pointed out this issue. I believe many, very many new users dropped because of this.
We should endeavour to help and mentor newbies that show inclination to grow and help the forum.
The hostility comes from the years of frustrations of being flooded by arrival of newbies who don't contribute, but just want to know how to get free bitcoin. A lot of newbies ask the same questions over and over without bothering to read the answers, this trait tends to upset some people. The attitude you speak of is not limited to bitcointalk forum, there is no perfect ecosystem except maybe the matrix lol. But if you ever feel like you are repeatedly attacked by the same person you can confront them, or you can use your ignore button. It is your choice

I also wish to suggest if a board like "Skill Acquisition" can be created where people voluntarily teach skills.
There is the service board. We don't need to create a new board for skill acquisition.
2750  Other / Meta / Re: Is Bitcointalk.org losing user base? on: July 17, 2021, 03:50:23 PM
I believe bitcointalk forum is the first crypto community to ever exist, over the years crypto communities have formed and newer is always better more attractive. Everyone has different reasons for joining the forum, some are interested in the campaigns and bounties and frankly there isn't much of those these days. Reddit is becoming more popular, the user interface is more friendly. Remember how clubhouse users hit the roof when Elon Musk tweeted about it. That's the kind of publicity the forum needs.
2751  Other / Meta / Bitcointalk doesn't get enough recognition for its contribution to crypto on: July 17, 2021, 03:27:56 PM
I think Bitcointalk forum doesn’t get nearly enough credit for its contribution to crypto adoption.
Firstly, Bitcointalk.org was created by Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Bitcoin. This factor alone gives the forum an edge over other communities. Research on the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto will forever be reference to the forum. Satoshi's last message is found on the forum and I believe that could be an Nft in the future as well as his other posts here. Yes I said it! I won't be surprised to find a compilation of Satoshi's threads being sold as nft.
Also this was the first ever Bitcoin forum on the internet. If this was human history we would be the first men. The first transaction was done right here on the forum, Laszlo Hanyecz spent 10,000 BTC at Papa John’s pizza for the purchase of two pizzas. This transaction is more famous than the forum itself. May 22 became world Bitcoin pizza day, celebrated in crypto communities. On blogs and article they refer to the forum as "the bitcoin community", I suspect this is part reason why there the forum is not very popular.
I’m not saying the forum is perfect and cannot be improved or anything but I think we  deserve a lot more credit for contribution to the crypto space. All this could be used to attract more users to the platform.
2752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Does bounty really make money?/Who are participating in the bounty? on: July 17, 2021, 08:18:52 AM
Its a case of good and bad eggs. While there are good projects that pay for the service especially if you have significant influence in the social media olatforms like twiiter, telegram, reddit, Youtube, etc and they pay modest sums. The downside to bounty hunting is that many project turn out to be scams and you cannot tell which one is legit. You waste your time and risk having your profile full of bounty posts. Bounties unlike signature campaign do not care about post quality. That's why I do not think bounty is good way to start your bitcointalk journey

I could say bounty campaigns whether in 2019 or not seemed to have the same degree of profitability because there are some factors that could affect its outcome as mentioned in the following situations such as:

a) bounty hunters tend to sell their assets early (and often at a loss or below ICO/IEO price) on an otherwise promising project.
b) some projects have discontinued their development for various unknown reasons (e.g. financial difficulty)
c) some projects turned out to be a scam (exit scams)
d) some are legit projects but did not honor their commitment to the bounty community (significantly reduced bounty rewards or did not give bounty   payments at all)
e) the quality and performance of the project greatly affects our bounty profitability (that is why it very important to research and choose promising projects accordingly)
f) most bounty hunters nowadays have become more mature that they tend to select only the most promising projects which results for bounty hunting to be more competitive (more competitors = lesser the rewards)

Lobat999 did justice to your question
2753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: how to do selecte best bounty or airdrop on: July 17, 2021, 06:40:09 AM
I thought you turned a new leaf. But sadly you haven't changed a bit. You didn't clean up your profile, posts quality is poor, you registered for new bounty right after asking how to rank up. Your interest is bounty bounty bounty. Was the motivation of your post ?

I've registered about 100 projects so far, but I got tokens for 15 bounty projects.

Other all project scam or waiting  list tokens  deastribution

Your bounty  or airdrop  working?

how to do you selected best bounty?
You never know what you're in for with bounties. Bounty hunters don't really care much about that. 15/100 success rate that's your answer Op

2755  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't say a thread was made because of merit on: July 14, 2021, 04:44:45 PM
The goal of every member in Bitcointalk forum is to make a thread that will generate merit.
The goal is to make meaningful contributions to the forum. Earning a merit or two along the way is a bonus.
2756  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No late commer in cryptocurrency on: July 14, 2021, 12:25:54 PM
I often see people complain bitterly about the opportunity they missed years ago. Infact, I am one of the people. But, it just occurred to me that there is no late commer in the world of Cryptocurrencies.
People will always complain. What's done is done, no need to whine about the past thinking about what you could have done better. You will find it interesting that a lot of people are lamenting about the current market price wishing they had sold off in the bull run.
There are numbers of low coins you can buy and hold now, your inability to do it now may also result to regret in 5years time.
The major challenge is information, now you are informed, it's your morning, you are not late. If you think some coins are so expensive, buy the inexpensive ones.
Investing in crypto is not the same as gambling. Don't buy coins because the price is low. That's not even a factor to determine a good investment. Research, read the white paper, understand what you're putting your money in. Crypto is very volatile, you can lose your money if you don't do your research
2757  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 2,371 people abducted in Nigeria in first half of 2021 on: July 14, 2021, 12:12:35 PM
I am curious about the Kings that you are talking about, are there royalties in Nigeria?.
Yes they are Kings in Nigeria. Nigeria is a diverse with different culture and tribes coming together to form a nation. Every tribe has a King or supreme ruler even though there is a political governor that handles the affairs of the state. Over time because of politics, majority of kings have little power.
I think that the only scary thing about here is the kidnapping itself and not the fact that they aren't using cryptocurrencies for payments in the ransom
The level of insecurity sweeping across the country is alarming. The government need to swing into action to fight insurgency and crime. I don't think I have heard of ransom being paid in crypto yet but we might see that happening soon
2758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: July 14, 2021, 05:42:08 AM
You can't just get a winning team without spending proper money on your players, you need to start spending a ton of money on players and you need to find a way to make that money back as well, that is the only way you could ever dream of being champions.
The English premier league is tough. Epl is very different from othee leagues underdogs can easily cost a top team a chance at the trophy unlike the Spanish LA liga where there are only 3 favorite top teams and is the trophy is rotated around them. In the EPL anything can happen. Leicester city from out of the blues won the league when everyone least expected it. For a club to thrive in the EPL you have to be ruthless
2759  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies need to be mentored well. on: July 13, 2021, 01:41:58 PM
Newbies are always naive not knowing much about the forum rules and will still be quiet not asking questions from experts in forum. I plead as a newbie to the senior members to help mentor us on how to avoid plagiarism when posting on each board of the forum. And how sourcing information elsewhere need to be referenced and also show us some examples of quality post so we can use it to better ours too.
Thanks

All the information you need about how the forum works is right here in B&H board. If only you just sacrifice a little of your time each day to read what has been discussed you will be a better poster. I don't know what newbies want or expect from higher ranking members. No one is going to hold you by the hand and teach you abc. You need to want it so bad that you put in the much needed effort. Don't just create threads like this just because you are bored, I particularly hate it when answers are given and there is no change from Op. They just move on to the next topic asking almost the same thing

2760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: July 13, 2021, 04:20:37 AM
i don't know whats up with them, but they always fail miserably, even some good players couldn't do anything with Arsenal, Ozil was a really good player he helped real madrid a lot, especially with his assists, but came to Arsenal and became an average player, Arsenal need a good coach, and players who can play good with each other, there has to be chemistry between them, and i think a coach can make that happen.
They had a great coach, they had Arsene Wenger who even though at times really had bad years, still had great years as well so I am not sure if that's the case, even a coach like him who would be in hall of fame of managers in history didn't made Arsenal into some long term big name, sure in branding sense it did but that's about it. So I do not doubt that they would be improving with a great manager, but I doubt it would be as much as people assume, give Pep Arsenal for 10 years and he would not be able to turn that team into constantly championship contender, at beast maybe a chance to be top three but that's about it at the very best.
I agree Arsene Wenger was a great manager, he was fit to manage a team like Arsenal. The club didn't want to spend money on buying new players and Wenger didn't seem to bother about this. Not many mangers would be able to cope with the club considering the competition in the EPL and the number of players Arsenal signed at the time I will say Wenger did pretty well in Arsenal. Pep managing Arsenal would call for some changes. Pep spares no expense when building his team and I imagine he would have his eyes on the best. That's also why he is doing well at Manchester City. The club demands the best and spends as much to be the best
