2741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: XCP for BTC on: September 17, 2021, 05:51:40 AM
Mostly sold out, unless anyone wants any personally I’m set..

I'll take some -- can you hold on to $100 or so worth for me for a few more days?
2742  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: APOLLO CURRENCY IS A SCAM YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! on: September 16, 2021, 09:39:12 PM
Damn bro, you've been putting it to these guys for a while already. Might I ask, just out of curiousity, what compels you to keep hammering them?

I feel like most of the projects that actually shelled out money to MacAfee to promote them probably had dishonest intentions from the get-go, and you have provided massive amounts of evidence this is the case here.

I would hope investors take the time to do a bit of DD before purchasing GSX -- they would undoubtedly stumble upon this thread.

Thank you very much @Best_Change. I have a concern regarding my payment and so was shocked to see this message when I open my wallet. Please see attached post:

Hello mga kabayan, nagulat lang ako kasi ganito yung pagopen ko ng app.

I had an incoming transaction from Bestchange weekly btc payment. But this appear on my coinsph. So I was shocked. They are requiring now to input the senders information, now what is the best course of action for this? Any suggestion, Im planning to change my receiving address for my weekly payment.

Bro, you should have asked around first -- they are doing this for all transactions, its part of their new requirements. Just check "Other" and that's all you have to do. There are new regulations in place for Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs), some of which will probably be standard for other exchanges in the future.
2745  Economy / Reputation / Re: Someone had access to my account last month - Please beware! on: September 16, 2021, 11:05:02 AM
The irony here is

1. Maidak got scammed by Dimitry who was pretending to be me.

2. But Dimitry got scammed by whoever was pretending to be me when they sold my compromised account.

Well to be honest I think this story makes sense, but its a bit strange that you wouldn't think to log in to your account for over three months, until you were contacted by Maidak... your activity was a bit more consistent previously. But anyways. Sounds like Maidak realizes he was scammed by an impostor.
2746  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How has Bitcoin Changed your life? on: September 15, 2021, 10:05:43 AM
It's changed my life so much to the point where a lot of the time I'm sitting around waiting for the rest of the world to catch up. It's been both freeing and restrictive at the same time. Getting paid for work in cryptocurrency is a nice feature, but cashing it out for real life things - bills, food & whatnot - sucks when the number's going up.
2747  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador rolls out 200 Bitcoin ATMs in a bid to speed-up nationwide adoption on: September 15, 2021, 09:57:25 AM
Of all the countries to make the move adopting Bitcoin, El Salvador makes among the most sense, as they had already been reliant on the U.S. dollar as their currency for a while. I guess it makes more sense to base your economy on a stable currency rather than have an embarrassing one like Argentina or Zimbabwe.

I hope it works out for them, of course. I don't understand how the transactions are "commission-free", and its success will be a matter of catching the country up in financial literacy (avoiding scams).
2748  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How does one start on crypto? on: September 15, 2021, 09:49:57 AM
Before earning crypto, first, you have to buy some. You need some to experience what its like, because only after that point will you begin to understand anything about it.

I'll tell a very short version of my story about how my profession switched to cryptocurrency: I hated my old career, took a skill I was always pretty good at and applied that to a new job search, that next job was the gateway to a free-er way of living.
2749  Economy / Reputation / Re: BADecker is one of the most dedicated and successful trolls on the forum on: September 14, 2021, 11:17:09 PM
BADecker garnered a measly 4.5% of the vote in the Official Troll Poll of 2019. He is a troll indeed but far from the biggest. I find he's a great use case for employment of the Ignore button, and if I ever feel like losing 5-20 minutes of my time pointlessly arguing him, I take him off ignore.
2750  Other / Meta / Re: Editing plagiarism, after detection on: September 14, 2021, 07:31:32 AM
Funny, I never finished a post and then thought, "Oh I forgot to add the source of the words I wanted to appear were my own." I know I said this a lot lately but why don't people just try coming up with their own thoughts? Seems like some people go through a lot more work for undesired results.

I do trust both TryNinja and LoyceV but I would still argue that moderators should not use those archives to ban users, particularly if the ban reason itself no longer exists in this forum (the post has been edited by the author).

And that's why the best way to ban people for plagiarism is to just report it -- so they don't get the chance to change their post.
2751  Other / Archival / Re: Exposing RainbowKun and His Large Alts Army. Big farm 60+ Accs !!! on: September 14, 2021, 05:55:08 AM
Mr. Nutildah, I have always respected you, and I have also seen your contribution to the forum. But I really don’t understand your criteria for judging plagiarism. You stare at every sentence of my article, trying to find evidence of my plagiarism. What I hope more is that you can see the views in my article and exchange views on the level of views, instead of doing everything possible to accuse me of plagiarism.

Here, I quote the story of the Tower of Babel in the Christian Bible, and the story of the Rainbow Covenant, which are used to describe the three characteristics of Bitcoin: language, trust, and collaboration.

It's not just that you used the same wording to tell the story, its that you're making the same point about Bitcoin that they are while using the same story as a metaphor.

A lot of ideas in your posts seem to be taken from elsewhere. As I don't know Chinese its impossible for me to know for sure, but it seems like you took the main idea behind this story and incorporated it with your own babble about Bitcoin being AI.

Quote
Just like the legend that Noah’s descendants built the Tower of Babel to avoid the occurrence of the "Great Flood", Satoshi Nakamoto designed and established Bitcoin—the original intention of the "Tower of Babel" built on the Internet was also for Resist the "flood."
2752  Other / Archival / Re: Exposing RainbowKun and His Large Alts Army. Big farm 60+ Accs !!! on: September 14, 2021, 03:45:55 AM
Here is a part of the Christian Bible, a story that most Christians all over the world know.

The chances that you would use the exact same language in the same order just randomly are very slim. Its obvious what you're doing: you're just copy/translating the works of others. These aren't your original concepts -- they belong to others. What are you actually doing here?
2753  Other / Archival / Re: Exposing RainbowKun and His Large Alts Army. Big farm 60+ Accs !!! on: September 14, 2021, 03:26:16 AM
He hasn't changed at all. This is definitely plagiarism.

Post title: Bitcoin is rebuilding the Tower of Babel of human collective collaboration
Article title: Bitcoin has built a tower of heaven for mankind, from Homo sapiens to gods.

After the devastating flood, the first rainbow appeared in the sky. God used the rainbow as a sign of the covenant with humans on the earth that no flood would come ever and mankind in the world spoke the same language of the same accent.

Google translated from here:

Quote
After the catastrophe of the Great Flood, the first rainbow appeared in the sky. God used the rainbow to make an agreement with the people on the earth not to use the flood to destroy the earth. Since then, people all over the world speak the same language and have the same accent.

But later, humans began to doubt God's oath and embarked on building the Tower of Babel, provoking God. So God decided to change and distinguish the language of mankind, causing them scattered everywhere and therefore the Tower of Babel was abandoned halfway.

Original (same article):

Quote
So he quietly left the kingdom of heaven and came to the world, changed and distinguished the language of human beings, so that they were scattered everywhere because of language barriers, so that they could not cooperate, and the tower was abandoned halfway.

So his "original post" is largely lifted from a translation of an older article.
2754  Other / Meta / Re: Did you notice that forum have fewer trolls in 2021? on: September 13, 2021, 09:49:07 AM
You were correct about Suchmoon, Vod, and others, but you, Dave, Nutildah also appear on the list of people who have used the word  Grin "troll" the most since the merit system was implemented[I cut out Top 50] I think most of them left the forum.
...
1. suchmoon [74]
2. The-One-Above-All [72]
3. LoyceV [64]
4. cryptohunter [57]
5. The Pharmacist [50]
6. nutildah [50]
7. TECSHARE [47]
8. hilariousetc [34]
9. marlboroza [31]
10. bonesjonesreturns [29]
...

Just out of curiosity, how did you get these stats? I was going to do a quick comparison with the total number of posts per member, but then I realize you said "since the merit system was implemented," and suddenly lost interest (cuz I'm not doing that work ATM). In any case the clear winner of the contest is cryptohunter, however ironically.
2755  Other / Meta / Re: What happened to BitcoinTalk in the last years? on: September 13, 2021, 08:03:08 AM
If you look at this source for example (I am not sure if it's reliable and accurate), and scroll all the way down where it shows several African nations, you would notice that the average monthly income for some of them is between $26 and $100. If a user from those countries managed to get into a signature campaign that paid only $40-$50 weekly, they would be able to lead a more than comfortable life. If they managed to remain part of the campaign for a longer period of course.

I know people in the Philippines who make $80 a month for a full-time job... this includes working on Saturday and sometimes even Sunday. So even $40 a week would be a significant improvement. Not just because it would represent a 100% raise, but also because they would have a lot more free time to pursue other income...

Income is especially scarce in many parts of the world right now.

Regardless, if they are cheaters or not contributing anything of value, they've got to go. This shouldn't be a place where people float by writing barely coherent swaths of nothing that technically don't break the rules.
2756  Other / Meta / Re: Did you notice that forum have fewer trolls in 2021? on: September 13, 2021, 07:41:05 AM
Instead of searching for 'troll', try looking for words such as "verifiable" or "undeniable truth". I am sure you will get a huge list of results including suchmoon's don't feed the troll posters Grin

I bet there is something of a correlation between those terms and "troll" if one were took analyze it on a weekly basis.

I mean, did you miss proudhon posts, for example?!

I actually enjoy proudhoun's posts. They're not nearly as offensive as some, and he's harmless. Plus, he really sticks to his beliefs, even after being wrong for ~8 years. There's something to be said for that.
2757  Other / Meta / Re: Did you notice that forum have fewer trolls in 2021? on: September 13, 2021, 12:27:27 AM
Let's take a look at some of the following data based on my research:

Code:
Data from ninjastic.space
  • During 2019 "January 1 to December 31", I got data that 759 troll words have been mentioned on the meta board by 195 users.
  • During 2020"January 1 to December 31", I got data that 486 troll words have been mentioned on the meta board by 155 users.
  • During 2021"January 1 to September 11", I got data that 104 troll words have been mentioned on the meta board by 57 users.

Based on my finding above, have you really noticed that in less than 3 years the trolls on this forum have decreased significantly?

What would make the data clearer is if you came up with a "troll words per post" metric, as I suspect the number of total posts has perhaps decreased between 2109 and now. I would imagine there's a utility that has counted the total number of posts per year.

Funny how the stats portion of the forum crapped out in... what was it, 2017? never to return.

I was getting depressed starting out Sunday with -3 points on the board, but am now in contention, provided a couple significant things go my way tomorrow night.

What a game between NO and GB. Glad I caught that one on TV. Rogers' heart just ain't in it, and who can blame him. He would've rather been host of Jeopardy this year, after all.

And glad that Mahomes + Hill delivered the Patrick Price for my otherwise lackluster ass.

NFL experts, do RB1 players always play for the whole game or does the coach let the RB2 have some time on the field also?

A few downs but not many usually, maybe up to 25% -- unless they are underplaying the RB1 after a minor injury.

I have a problem. Austin Ekeler is questionable according to ESPN and all of my replacements on the bench are only RB2. Trey Sermon, Javonte Williams and Jamaal Williams. Should I trust the projections and choose Javonte Williams as replacement?

In my experience Q almost always means "they're fine." This is not true 100% of the time but if they have projected points, there's a very high chance they're playing.
