2741  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [IDEA] E-mail campaigns. on: January 27, 2013, 02:12:00 PM
In general I like the Idea, but I have to agree with psy here.

If a site was asked by 100 or 1000 people to accept Bitcoin, only to make only a handful of Bitcoin trades or even none at all after they accept it, would do Bitcoin more bad than good.

If you ask a website to accept Bitcoin, really use Bitcoin there as soon as they do.

Therefore I propose that we add some kind of pledge process to this project (like in the Bitcoin 100).

We could make a list of sites that we would like to accept Bitcoin and every member of the Site can state how many Bitcoin he would spend on the Site if they would accept Bitcoin.

As soon as one site reaches say 100 Bitcoin, the Mailing process starts. If the Site than really accepts Bitcoin the people who pledged are informed over a time of several weeks.

If about 50% of the people stand by there pledge the Site would get some real Bitcoin Business, seeing that it works, which in addition would possibly get more Sites to accept Bitcoin.

Can someone give or point me to a summary about this Bruce Wagner.

Forum search actually give to many results, would take days to read all this.

Edit: Thanks, adamstgBit. My curiosity is satisfied.

I don't think the logged in timer is accurate.  It is showing less time than I have spent on here.

It stops counting when you have been inactive for more than ~10 miutes.
2745  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price will shoot up much higher if.... on: January 26, 2013, 10:56:36 PM
And also PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can reporters earn their paychecks and stop making blatantly obvious claims like "Bitcoin has been hacked".  It would be like saying because a 7-11 got robbed the US dollar has been "hacked".

Well that's a general misunderstanding of all people with only a very briefly understanding of computers:

2746  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price will shoot up much higher if.... on: January 26, 2013, 10:50:06 PM
Nice one, short and informative enough to get you curious for more.

And I noticed only two mistakes in it:

1. I don't think there are a million bitcoin users. From the Data available I would put it between 50.000 - 100.000

2. Bitcoin has never been hacked.

Edit: Just realized I could only watch half of the video, it was the better half  Sad

Have you seen this? http://stereopsis.com/flux/
I also recommend f.lux. It's REALLY helpful.

+1 to f.lux. great app. It changes the color temperature of the light to simulate evening sunlight conditions.

+1 from me too, installed it a hour ago after I saw it here and it's really great.
2749  Local / Projektentwicklung / Re: TreuCoin - ein Treuhandservice on: January 26, 2013, 05:02:49 PM
Hey cool, danke lassdas.

2750  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I didn't think it was possible, but a website bugged resulting in FREE btc on: January 26, 2013, 04:49:47 PM
I withdrew the coins right away and the transaction did in fact go through, I made 5x my initial small amount out of nothing. I'm going to see if the site is still doing the same thing. If it is I'll make my fortune then let you guys know the name :p

"Fuck you, got mine" or what.

Good to know that. I will never make any dealings with you cause no you showed that in the case you get the opportunity you will rip one shameless.

In case that is a bug the correct behaviour would be to contact the site instead of trying to steal as much money as possible. A good admin would then give you a reward for finding a such a heavy bug.

Maybe then more people will read it.

And another short article on  online gambing site:

Bitcoin Casinos Set to Flourish

One Bitcoin based casino has reported fourth-quarter profits for 2012 of hundreds of thousands of dollars after just six months of operations.
Bitcoin Casinos Set to Flourish

Results from 2012’s fourth quarter show casinos using Bitcoin as a payment system are making significant profits.

SatoshiDice, which has servers based in Ireland, is basically a game where the player chooses a number and then bets on the chances that the next ‘rolled number’ is higher than the one they’ve picked. If the number is higher, then they win, however, the house has a 1.9% edge.

This simple online dice game has made £375,626 profits last year between May and December. During that period players placed a total of 2,349,882 bets.

A second casino, bitZino, has not published a profit and loss statement; however, it did say that it paid out £311,000 and 3.2 million wagers were placed in the second half of last year.

bitZino’s founder, Larry Taad, said that the advantage of using Bitcoin is that “Users don’t have to trust us with their funds any longer than necessary.

If you compare this to traditional online casinos, which can take weeks to send you your winnings, the benefit is obvious… Frictionless, non-reversible, zero-fraud payments — you can’t ask for a more perfect payment system!”

interested in a rainbow table with 46953865 addresses? lol
Wouldn't that require that you have the 46953865 private keys?

That can easily be stored on modern hard disks.
Certainly, but wouldn't you first need to figure out what they are?

Guys, that are probably all addresses that have been used yet, and they are already stored on your hard drive, the file is called blk000x.dat
2756  Bitcoin / Press / 2013-01-25 777.com - Online Casinos Attracted By BitCoin on: January 25, 2013, 09:11:21 PM

Online casinos have another good reason to warm to the digital currency BitCoin after one operator this week (January 21st) reported a profit of $596,000 (£376,400) because of the denomination.

The industry has seen a dramatic increase in the use of BitCoin since late in 2012 when gaming websites realised the potential of rewarding players with currency that does not have to go through politicians or banks.

Explaining the attractiveness of the payment method, industry insider Larry Taad said: "Users don’t have to trust us with their funds any longer than necessary."

It is predicted that online casinos will continue to bet heavily on BitCoin.

Dramatic Increase...,online casinos continue to bet heavily on BitCoin...?

Did I miss something? Which online casino that's not developed from the Bitcoin world accepts bitcoin yet?
2757  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could deals like this be real and if yes explain the recent big buys and sells? on: January 25, 2013, 08:52:02 PM
Could we get an escrow provider on board to give us our coins back, pull together and try to bust this guy?

Let him ship directly to a police station or so?

Who this list is a good example how short the average "lifespan" of a bitcointalk member is.

Most of them are unknown to me.

Yes, at least I think so.

I rather not say what the loan is for.

So it's Drugs?
