Buy the rumours, sell the news.  Wink Cheesy

Federer needs surgery again, this time I think he will end his career. It seems that he wanted too much in Paris and then in Wimbledon. The 3rd knee operation is scheduled and he has to take a break for months, I think he will end his career this time.

https://www.si.com/tennis/2021/08/15/roger-federer-injury-third-knee-surgery-out-months

So the overload in Paris was not "just" an act, but real.

Ouch, that's sad news indeed, perhaps the chances of him getting back are slim, and obviously Father Time has come up with him. Maybe next year we will see a farewell tour for Federer and I doubt that he will push for more to win another grand slams because his body is telling him to stop with lots of wear and operation on his body in the last 3 years. Medvedev and Tsitsipas could be the next tennis superstar if they maintain their form. Only Djokovic will be the last man standing of the big 3.

I also think that Djokovic will remain from the Big3, Nadal will possibly win Paris again but whether there is more possible? For Federer it's probably definitely over, and I'm not sure if he'll do it again.

I would also put Thiem in the closer circle for the next star next to Medvedev, Tsitsipas possibly Zverev, but with Thiem it is also, so he must first recover from the injury and come back.

but can another racer make surprised tonight?, as I can see Marquez on the 5th grid, look like he will make the track going to be a tight competition with the high-temperature circuit.

The rain makes everything look messy. Quartararo was eliminated from the top 5, even Marquez was in 15th position. As usual, Ducati and KTM were good in the rain. Seeing how Bagnaia, Marquez and Quartararo fought fiercely to be in first place, it looks like it will be exciting. Unfortunately, none of them took first place in the fight, even KTM driver Brad Binder won. Rossi was also lucky he finished in eighth position.
This is temporary standings after MotoGP Austria

Congratulations to Brand Binder for finishing in the leading position.
Before the rain the race was very good and made us tense while watching it, because the three riders in front of Bagnaia, Quartararo and Marquez they were close to each other and looking for an opening to overtake, but Quartaro made a mistake on lap 19 he was too wide in the corner, so Marquez managed to take second place , and finally there was an overtaking action involving Marquez and Bagnaia so that Marquez became the fastest. However, the weather changed unexpectedly which finally made some riders very disappointed, one of them was Marc Marquez.

I think the race was very exciting yesterday and the courage with slicks on pouring rain was rewarded. You must feel like you're on ice with sneakers.

I'm also happy for Rossi that he has risked, briefly on podium course, only in the last lap the rain was already very strong but a good result for him. Marc Marquez has simply risked too much with the rain tires, To Binder congratulations, you must first dare.

@bct_ail

@Lakai01

Also mal eine Bewerbung abgegeben.

Next week the first round of the Playoffs beginning.

Some games are very difficult to estimate, but I think Monaco, Dinamo, Benfica, RB Salzburg will advance. The other two games I can not estimate. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Ferencvaros, because the coach there is from Austria and I would like to see Peter Stöger promoted.
2748  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: August 12, 2021, 01:54:55 PM

I don't think Fabio can really fight for the win, the Yamaha clearly has too little top speed and the RedBull Ring is the track with the most full throttle in the season.

At last week's race if you remember Quartararao was penalized so he had to start in 3rd position. Luckily, Quartararo was still able to maintain his rank to stay on the podium. Martin was lucky, apart from having a fast bike he had a good start so he could win. Quartararo doesn't have a fast bike like a Ducati or a KTM, but if he starts at the front it might be in his favour. I think next week he will still be serious about winning.

That is correct, his pole time was cancelled by a track limit. Quartararo gets everything out of the Yamaha and must always ride on the limit, but overtaking is very difficult with the Yamaha because you have to be very late on the brakes. I think I remember that he was very happy with his 3rd place in the race, he said on this track is simply not more possible with the Yamaha. Will be another exciting race I think, with favorite Ducati.
2749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: August 10, 2021, 02:41:35 PM
is the next week still on the Red Bull Ring circuit?.

If the next week still has a new winner, Quartararo's position is safe, that's what he wants, he has minimal on podium whatever position in 2 or 3.

That's right, it's still going on there.

I doubt with Jorge martin, will he be able to keep his win again? I think if Quartararo hadn't been penalized in the last series, it might have been a different story. Apart from that Quartararo looks like he's playing safe, like you said. By staying on the podium, his points will still have quite a difference.

I don't think Fabio can really fight for the win, the Yamaha clearly has too little top speed and the RedBull Ring is the track with the most full throttle in the season.

Finally I can see MotoGP after so many months of being quite bored. Yes Joan Mir and Martin surprised me today. I don't look up to them. I thought Quartararo would win again, but seeing the Gap with Martin he is quite far. The closest are Martin and Mir if I'm not mistaken he is only 1.5 seconds gap. Good thing I didn't bet.

Then Rossi also performed quite well. At least before retiring he was still fighting. Maybe being able to get on the podium will bring sweet memories for retirement later.

It was really good to see MotoGP again, and Rossi had a good performance where an increase could still be possible, possibly in the top 10. When asked what could change his mind to race next year, if I'm world champion I'll race another season and he laughed.

Crazy race day with Pedrosa's crash.  I was glad to see he and Lorenzo Savadori were unhurt.  I found it funny that the let Pedrosa back into the race, but I guess rules are rules.

Sad to see Jack Miller crash out again today.  Barring a miraculous remainder of the season, that just about puts him out of contention for championship.  I was predicting a Yamaha - Ducati finish to the season, but I figured it would be the factory Ducati team, lol.

Without the red flag and the interruption of the race Pedrosa would not have been able to return to the race, it is only possible because every MotoGP rider has 2 bikes at his disposal, but if rain had occurred he would have been unlucky because he would have had no bike left. But that's the way the rules are, but a remarkable achievement for a rider who hasn't raced in real conditions for so long time.

I would have guessed a victory for Bagnaia, but for Fabio it probably felt like a victory, with the weak Yamaha it is simply not possible to do more at the RedBull Ring. By the way, the second best Yamaha was Rossi, and the Petronas team was the oldest team ever in MotoGP with a total of 77 years.
2752  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: August 08, 2021, 01:58:22 PM

Dedrosa is riding the race and is currently 12th, Miller has just crashed in the fight for 3rd place.

My prediction was wrong, Bagnaia came out big ten. Jorge Martin remained strong and finished in first position. I was a bit surprised with Mir, after a long time he was missing he returned to the podium. Pedrosa and Marquez are still in the top 10 this is quite good.

Result MotoGP Today

Source: https://www.motogp.com/en/Results+Statistics

I was also wrong, I also thought that Bagnaia can race for the win, but after the restart it didn't go well for Bagnaia, next week is the next chance.

But respect and congratulations to the rookie Martin, top performance on one of his favourite tracks.

I'm not surprised, they got new parts for the bike and suzuki has the ride height device now.

Back to MotoGP

Race stopped and red flag, 2 motorbikes on fire and can only be extinguished with difficulty. Pedrosa was hit by a crash and Salvadori could not avoid it. Again in the same curve as last year, the curve is always dangerous and now the oil and petrol have to be bound. Very dangerous on the racing line for the rest of the race.

Pit-lane opened, Continue it now, look like M.Marques overload the track in 1st lap, will he get a penalty?.

I hope Pedrosa and Savadori didn't get hard injured. I don't know much about both in the medical center.

Martin is still on 1st following Mir on behind, looks like Styria will have a new winner if Martin is still consistent until the 27th lap.

I don't think Marc will get a penalty, but as a normal race accident, Marc just braked too late and slid into Aleix, luckily there was no accident.

Dedrosa is riding the race and is currently 12th, Miller has just crashed in the fight for 3rd place.

The riders at the beginning of the race don't seem to be seriously injured, Salvadori has gone himself and Dani is currently riding.

Some details of the upcoming agreement between Lionel Messi and PSG have become known, writes L'Equipe.

It is alleged that the Argentine will earn under the contract 40 million euros per year, and upon transition will receive a signature bonus of 30 million euros.

Earlier, there were rumors that Messi's father would fly to Paris to settle the final details of the contract, but the parties decided to do it remotely.

The agreement will be signed according to the "2 + 1" scheme.
Very good deal for both sides and now PSG has a chance to create a dream team if they keep Mbappe in Paris.
He had strong desire to join Real but now everything changed.
PSG really did great job this summer  and brought a lot of great players to the club
Real and Barcelona seem to be losing the battle with PSG and Manchester City for primacy in football.
I'm interesting what Messi will say today and how will Ramos and Messi play together?   Grin

Although there has been no official news that PSG have got Messi, there have been rumors that PSG and Messi have reached a contract agreement.
If PSG manages to bring in Messi this is indeed beneficial for both parties, and I agree that PSG this year has been very active in bringing in a lot of
star players. But there is no guarantee that many star players at PSG can win the Champions League trophy, which is PSG's main target. Pochettino
has a tough task, to create an effective strategy, which can make all the star players that PSG have can play solidly. PSG's last task may be
convincing Mbappe to want to extend his contract at PSG, we'll see if PSG can change Mbappe's decision.

Messi had his press conference today and the official farewell from FC Barcelona. PSG is an option but apparently not fixed yet, at the end of the press conference there were standing ovations and tears from Messi. In the Youtube link you can watch the 40 minute press conference.

In any case, I am curious about Messi's future club, but I think it will be Manchester City, even though PSG is more highly rated.

Max Verstappen is leading the list of F1 car repair costs.
That is ironic since most tge damage done to his car he was not the one to blame.
No wonder why Christian Worner wanted the driver team that caused the accident to be the covering the bill for repairs.
With about half of races left most of the drivers are on there 2nd power unit
While Vettel, Verstapppen, Russel, Sainz and Ocon they are on their last engine changing the engine one more time for them will get them a grid penalty.
That's why many see Bottas penalty for playing Bowling in Hungary track was not enough since he wrecked couple cars that some got unrepairable Power Unit.

Verstappen probably had the least to do with the damage himself, Alonso the old master is very economical there 😀

Some surprising results in Champions League Qualifications, Rangers lost from Malmo and it could be second club from Scotland to miss Champions League if they don't win at home next leg.
I expected Olympiacos to win but they only managed to get a 1:1 draw in last minutes of the match, and now Ferencvaros is leading with two goals against Slavia Prague.
Second leg is going to be even harder to predict but my early pick is on Rangers to win.

For me there were no big surprises, Celtic and Rangers are not the teams they used to be, but Rangers still have a chance for promotion. But it won't be easy.

For both Prague teams it will be over in this round, but they will both continue in the Europa League group stage and there they can collect points.
Rangers lost and will have to win big at home. Gerrard is a really good manager and will probobly make a good tactic they arent fighting a tough opponent but they will have to play outstanding at home to win. Slavia Prague lost due to a goalkeeper mistake and has to recover two goals

Well, they don't have to win that big I would say. If they can score a 2 to 0 they get the job done, and even with a 2 - 1 they make it to extra time. It will be hard though if Malmo manages to score first there, but the Rangers are definitely at tough opponent for almost any team in a home game.

I still see a good chance for Rangers and promotion, but you shouldn't underestimate Malmö, as RedBull Salzburg have seen a few times when they lost to Malmö as favourites or were knocked out in the play-offs. Malmö has become a good middle class team in Europe in recent years and you should not underestimate them from the start.

About Stroll at Mercedes, I doubt it, but then again I don't see Stroll as a real F1 driver, just another rich kid who got there thanks to his money. His father buying a whole team even for it !

No way, the seat of Bottas is already taken by Russell, Toto said it in the past.
Stroll can be only the second driver of Russell when Hamilton will retire.

I also think so, no way around Russel at Mercedes...

I find it surprising that Mercedes doesn't even try to have a German driver.

Michael Schumacher developed and built Mercedes together, so they had a German driver from the beginning.

Or will there be a surprise from KTM or Honda? The weather is still perfect for a fast lap 👌

Quartararo was the fastest, but unfortunately he was hit by the Track limit. This led to Jorge Martin of Pramac Ducati in pole position. He recorded his best time with 1 minute 22,994 seconds. Followed by Francesco Bagnaia in second position and Quartararo in third position. Maybe later will be the day for ducati, and Bagnaia will be the winner in the series opening half of the season.

Extremely strong performance from Fabio on the Yamaha, which has clear disadvantages in top speed, but I think Bagnaia has the better cards with the Ducati. Even though Fabio had the fastest lap in the qualifying but was cancelled because of the track limit.

By now, everything is done and everything is defined. Lionel Messi at Psg is now a matter of a few days. At least according to the words of Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, brother of the Emir of Qatar owner of the Parisian club who wrote unequivocally on social media a post: "The negotiations are over, then will come the announcement".
Just like CR7 in 2018, for Messi there'll be a two-year deal with an option for a third, with a salary of around 30 million per season. Shortly we wait for the official steps and maybe even the announcement.

Messi made a big mistake by joining PSG. He could have agreed to play for free for at least one year or less for 10 lamas, and then he would have become a hero of Barcelona. And so he chose money and put his interests above the club that gave him a lot.

I also think PSG is a mistake for Messi, I always thought he was going to Manchester City and his old successful coach Guardiola. Would definitely be a better address, the English league is physically tougher than the French but it can't be just for the money, he should already have enough.

Maybe his family likes Paris better than Manchester? But maybe things will turn out differently?
