2762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEW EthereumPoW on: August 26, 2022, 08:08:56 PM
sp_, I remember you wrote that you will make your fork of Ethereum on the POW algorithm. Are you on the team of the new EthereumPoW fork or will you also be doing your own fork? I may not have read all of your posts, so I'm interested in getting an answer to this question.

FP91G I think you are referring to this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5408631.msg60688091#msg60688091
I'm also curious and anxious to see more about this fork. I noted you post about the sp_fork on your thread.

My understand is, sp_ will do his own fork, not this one we're calling ETHW.

I don't know about the possibility, but sp_ you could do a thread here showing how you do a fork, specially with ETH, I'm sure will be awesome.

2763  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Buying a Hardware Wallet in US on: August 26, 2022, 07:42:15 PM

Trezor One is a good option. Definitely my personal favourite under $100.

Thanks, good post n0nce  Wink
I'm reading more about, but my favorite is Trezor One, under 100USD and reliable.
I think it fits the time of my trip better than any other solution.

I remembered that sometime in the past I saw the information that Ledger HW can be bought at Walmart, and you can choose the option if you want the product delivered to you or if you want to pick it up in a physical store. I'm not sure if it works all over the US, but if you see a Walmart store, it doesn't cost anything to go inside and check if they have HW on the shelf - or to send them an inquiry via e-mail.

I forgot to look on Walmart, I found some wallets like ledger, trezor and couple of others, but none of them are sold by Walmart, only thirds.
I'll sure take a look at walmart store there

Or, and I am just putting it out there you can have a trusted member buy one and ship it to you.

Don't know how customs is where you are and if you would really trust the "random internet person" here but I think there are enough people you could reach out to who would buy & reship for you. Also, when are you coming / where in the US are you going to be? Have it shipped to a trusted member and you can do a F2F, have a cup of coffee or whatever and get it.

Just a thought.

-Dave

It's a good idea, I would trust a person here with reputation, most of people here are amazing and share tha same ideals than me.
But I'm afraid I don't have the time to do this anymore, and the Trezor on Amazon will be a good choice to solve my problem.

Oh boy, easy solution, and nobody was thinking about this before you  Cheesy
However, I would suggest to be aware of scammers and use some escrow for making transactions.
I am sure there are several members from US that would help if they are located in same city as OP.

This is the reason I posted here, to hear another solutions, and glad I found some.

I'll keep you guys updated ok, and thank you for your time.
2764  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Portuguese League - Liga Portugal 2022/23 on: August 26, 2022, 06:09:57 PM
I'm curious why nobody already posted about the portuguese league
You could help us to find good bets since you live in Portugal and have more information and feeling about the matches

Portuguese league is important, 2 slots to champions league and 1 slot to qualifies
Unfortunately the last champion was in 2003/2004 with Porto (I remember, with Deco, a brazilian born but naturalized in Portugal)

Have you already choose your favorite to win this season?
2765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pro miners pls give an answer on this on: August 26, 2022, 12:39:29 PM
How about buying those RX580 for 70-80$ each? Yes if this happens I will buy eight pieces to mine ravencoin only, the graphic card is very old but yes mining software still supports the graphic cards, we don't know what will happen in future.

It's hard to say if 70 or 80 USD are good prices, but if you have cheap electricity, maybe it's worth
Just do the math

Here in my country for example, my electricity rate is .20, so it's barely profitable, like 10cents per day per card (rx 580), putting 5 in a rig will be .50 cents a day = 30 USD month
Not worth the time and noise in my opinion

But let's say you have 0.05 rate, things start to look better

After ETH POS we'll have a better understanding about which cards will continue to mine in profit (if), but I'm doubt about Polaris generation. I suspect only RTX 3XXX and AMD 6XXX will continue on the game

2766  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: August 26, 2022, 11:16:01 AM
@Sithara007 I too was baffled to read when he chose to put Italy for a contender, and either he believed the rumours or he hasn’t been updated with who qualified for the World Cup. Lastly I feel that you’re right because these two teams are no longer considered dangerous like they were in the past, hence we should consider wagering on them only if odds are good and if they show decent form in their previous matches.

I already asked to op in this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5392720.msg60806588#msg60806588 to update the squads of the poll and put the favorites to win.
I believe soon or later he'll update, he's active in here, or I'll try to reach him by PM

The user above saw the first post and probably forgot about Italy  Cheesy

@EarnOnVictor - if you enter on a thread with a lot of pages, it's better to read the last ones too, you'll be updated about the subject

2767  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Qualifying on: August 25, 2022, 07:16:17 PM
I don't know if anyone here already posted this, but Maccabi Haifa on group H is from Israel (Asia), and participating on Champions League for 3rd time.
Never advanced to next phase, but they eliminated 2 days ago Red Star Belgrade, not in their best moment, but a champion from UEFA.
I know you guys from Europe is probably informed about this, but for most of us outside Euro zone, this is interesting.

Unfortunately their life will be tough against PSG, Juventus and Benfica.

I tried to watch the raffle, but I'm only seeing now, I'll try to make my predictions here.

C Group seens strong enough to have exciting matches, I'm curious to see Barcelona

2770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pro miners pls give an answer on this on: August 25, 2022, 02:56:54 PM
I don't know how cheap is his electricity rate, but in general, RX 580 and Polaris generation are already outdated
They are good in ETHASH, but with the end of Etherem POW I think Nvidias are more future proof.
Nvidias are better to mine more algos.

I've seen good offers on RTX 2060, it's old, but 1 generation ahead of polaris, and can mine more algos.

Maybe it's better to wait a little until ETH changes and see about the profitability

Wow, it's explained the reason of your electricity bill
Your A/C is power hungry, 2600w

But I think you can share more info and we can help you in a better way to reduce your electricity consume

Is it necessary to turn on the A/C?
Most cases you can solve the problem with fans, good airflow and undervolt.

2773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Brasileirão 2022 - Brazilian Championship Serie A on: August 24, 2022, 09:02:38 PM
Today there's no match of Brasileiro, but Copa do Brasil

2 great matches to watch, to have some emotion I think I'll make a double bet here hahaha, don't follow me anyone
obs - I didn't make this bet yet, I'm thinking, maybe only in Sao Paulo victory, paying 3.90

If anyone here is optmitisc about Sao Paulo, playing in home, capable of beat Flamengo, it's a great odd of 3.90 to São Paulo only victory
Maybe in Morumbi Sao Paulo can win, not impossible, they already did memorable matches in the finals.

Today is easy to watch Sao Paulo, Globo channel will stream the match, Corinthians only on SporTV and Premiere.

2775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pardon is this sounds stupid on: August 24, 2022, 01:51:25 PM
Ethereum classic hashrate is already full of asics with less than 5 gigabytes of memory. When other ASICs with more memory come here after the end of Ethereum mining, there will be no profit for video cards. The price of ETHW futures has already fallen over 50%, and when the exchanges open coin transfers, everything will end up with a big drop.

I'm following the hashrate of both coins and it's clear about the 5gb Asics changing to ETC, and there are another miners changing to ETC to delay the bomb in ETH (I don't know how many)
About ETHW we can't say anything yet because it's only futures right now, once the fork happens, people will probably dump a lot, it will be free money for some, but in the long run, maybe will hold some value.

I'm anxious to have these answers about the future of mining, somehow I think we'll have a balance
People are not considering a strong POW coin arising, and the next bull run can bring again good profits for us home/small miners

Another thing I wish (just wish ok) ETC changes dag size to 5gb to kick out Asics  Cheesy

2778  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: August 24, 2022, 10:29:35 AM
I still can't understand how a team that were expected to reach the finale could be eliminated by North Macedonia in the play-off round. I know that it has been a long time since it happened but it's hard to absorb.
Injuries can play a big role for the competing teams in this World Cup.
...

I'd like to asnwer this because this is why we are here betting on soccer (other sports too) but soccer is something else...
A lot of matches are simply unpredictable, maybe impossible to find out what's happened.

I don't think Italy lost the chance to World Cup due to injuries, look at the chart:

If I ask any person here which team to bet on 1st place, I'm sure more than 90% would say Italy, but somehow Switzerland was more consistent and won the world cup slot
This was where Italy lost the spot
Curiosity: Italy didn't lose a match in groups, 6 more teams didn't lose too.
So, strange things always happens in soccer, and EUFA qualifiers is a hard way to get to World Cup.

Next World Cup will have more teams, Italy have the chance to get a new generation of players to play again in a higher level.
2779  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Buying a Hardware Wallet in US on: August 23, 2022, 09:54:31 PM
You have very limited choice for under 100 USD budget, only Trezor Model One or Ledger Nano S plus, but I would never spend a single dollar on ledger products.
I know BestBuy in US is selling hardware wallets but I would suggest looking for official resellers, or you simply buy wallet in shops available in your own country, before you go traveling.
My suggestion is to only choose open source hardware wallets like Trezor, BitBox02, Keystone or Passport (not easy to buy it now).

Alternative option you can do is to buy Rasberry Pi zero and use is as signing device for Bitcoin, turning it into SeedSigner.
You can also do just fine if you use some offline laptop dedicated for Bitcoin transactions.

In my country hardware wallets are very expensive, and to be honest I don't trust 100% to buy from here.
I took a look at these options, good wallets, keystone looks amazing, and I like the idea of a DIY wallet with Raspberry pi zero
Thanks for the help

I think I found a good solution here: https://shop.trezor.io/faq/

Trezor have a store on Amazon and in my simulation they ship to an Amazon Hub ( I think it's a locker ), and Trezor One is 85 USD
2780  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Buying a Hardware Wallet in US on: August 23, 2022, 04:50:36 PM
Thank you guys for the help  Smiley
I'm so sorry if I didn't explain well, but there's no problem with safety or privacy here, the only problem is my trip will last 1 week only.

Why do you need one so quickly? What are you staying at in the US and what do you have available to get one shipped to you.
My trip is 1 week only.

It's hard to verify the device is genuine if you buy from a reseller from what I know of both trezors and ledger.
Yes, I know it's not commom, but I'm afraid to buy from third party, this is the reason I asked about some store in US, because I saw Best Buy selling Ledger.

Maybe this would help: FAQ:Ordering and shipping

Trezor has official resellers in many countries, including US: https://trezor.io/resellers/
Thanks, I saw this reseller, I don't know if anyone here already bought from them. I know Trezor sends to US in a couple of days, but I'll have to get some adress (maybe the Hotel?)

@rdluffy, I don't want to get into your private reasons why you need a hardware wallet so urgently, but considering that you are traveling to the US, you should know that all electronic devices are subject to checks by official personnel at airports. I know that I would not like to be in a position to explain what this is all about, nor to have such a device taken away from me, which is possible by law. I think those are some things you should consider.

If you're disappointed with the Ledger based on what you've read, then simply don't buy it - this especially applies to the model S, which will no longer be produced, and the question is how long it will have support. However, for a price of less than $100, you don't have much choice, at least not if it's something with a good reputation.

No need to worry about my reasons  Smiley, there's no safety or privacy issue here, only my trip will last 1 week and I don't have an US adress to send from official source.
I'll think about it, but I thought (as I already said above) maybe some stores in US sell hardware wallets like Best Buy.

My main reason to get one is the last hacks / exploits / exchanges freezing withdraws etc, I'm worried and I want to get all my coins in a more safe environment.

Thanks for your help too
