2761  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Coinwix.com Fake Exchange on: March 05, 2023, 05:23:28 PM
This is the first time this exchange has been mentioned on Bitcointalk according to what Ninjastic.space shows.
Googling the name also doesn't bring much information. I did find that a Russian site called BestExchangers has placed Coinwix.com on a list of fraudulent exchanges. I don't know whether or not that means much and if we can trust BestExchangers and its evaluation.
2762  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coinplay scammed me out of 1300 USDT on: March 05, 2023, 03:00:44 PM
I suggest the following:
Talk to their live support and ask information about the exact rules you broke. After that, post screenshots of the entire conversation from beginning to the end. The way it looks now, we have you claiming they didn't offer any explanations and we have an email from Coinplay where they state that their team explained to you why you got banned. It can't be both ways.

I can confirm that their license is valid if you click on the seal at the bottom left of their website. They possess an Antillephone License. If you are using an ad blocker, you might not be able to see it. It was missing on my end as well until I disabled it.

What's the status of your Casino.guru complaint?
2763  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin Bookstore on: March 05, 2023, 02:10:23 PM
I recommend offering a newsletter subscription or include in your website, your social media accounts so people can follow you and they will get a new update if there are new e-books added.
I agree with you on the newsletter suggestion. It's not a bad idea. Those who subscribe could get some updates about newly added books, information about discounts and special offers, and some other info about what is going on with bitcoin. Maybe if OP hears some news about a new book coming out, the newsletter and his Twitter page would be good places where he could share that. Tyke, a member from this forum is writing a book covering Bitcoin's entire history. That's something that could be mentioned in the newsletter. Bitcoin 2008/09-2022 History Paperback/Hardcover Book.

But you are wrong about the missing social media links. You can find buttons that take you to BitcoinBookstore's Twitter profile at the top and the bottom of the website.

2764  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: March 05, 2023, 01:27:02 PM
Marketing, mostly. Objectively it is terrible. Poor security, multiple hacks, zero privacy, works with blockchain analysis, outrageous fees, has actively scammed some users, the list is endless.

Amazon is objectively terrible, but continue to be one of the biggest companies in the world. Companies like Apple and Nestle have been busted multiple times for literal slave labor, and yet continue to be some of the biggest companies in the world. This is not unique to crypto by any means.
The better the marketing, the worse the product and service. That's why they need all that marketing and to get in people's faces to make them buy and use their products. In fact, if you are in doubt whether to use a heavily marketed product or one that isn't, the one you don't see all over TV, the internet, and the billboards all over town is probably better for you.
2765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Paper wallet on Android phone on: March 05, 2023, 01:14:08 PM
You would probably be wrong here. Most phones come with a ton of bloatware, not just from Google, but from the phone manufacturer and bunch of their third party buddies who pay to get their bloatware on to your device. Some of this bloatware can be uninstalled, but much cannot without rooting your phone, which most people don't do. Open your phone settings and go to the permissions section and see just how many apps want access to your camera. I think you'd be surprised. Next time you have your hands on a brand new phone, do the same thing. I would expect at least a dozen pieces of software wanting access to your camera, and those are only the ones the OS is showing you, never mind all the hidden system apps and software.
I went back and re-read my post you quoted and I see that I didn't express myself properly. You seem to have gotten the opinion that I was trying to say that not many phone apps require camera access. I know they do. I have manually removed all kinds of permissions (not just the ones requiring access to the camera). Some have to remain though for the underlying apps to function properly unless you turn permissions on whenever you want to use an app and turn it back off afterwards.

I wanted to say that the Android OS is open-source but the Google bloatware and apps by other services aren't. If the system takes random pictures, those who know how to read code should be able to find that in the codebase. It would make Android look really bad if someone discovered something like that. But looking at the code isn't possible with the standard Google apps where you remain in the dark.
2766  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Hacked for 165k STAKE.COM on: March 05, 2023, 10:40:39 AM
When you want to deactivate 2FA on Stake, doesn't the platform ask for a code from your authenticator app to confirm that action? Was your phone also hacked and the scammers had access to all your codes?

A lot of things could have been done better here, both by you and Stake.

If you work with hundreds of thousands of dollars, you really should have basic understanding of how to stay safe on the internet and use common sense. You didn't do that.
There should be a limit on how much money you can tip to other Stake accounts. How is $50.000 a tip? And if there is no limit, a quick tip followed by an immediate withdrawal request should sound some alarms and make them investigate. They didn't do that.

Stake account changes such as new deposits, withdrawals, email changes, the deactivation of 2FA, etc., should come with email notifications. Didn't Stake send any such notifications to you or is that also something that can be deactivated in the settings? What's the status of your email address associated with your Stake account? Was it also hacked? Maybe notifications were sent but deleted by the hackers.

Did Tether ever reply to you about your inquiry to have the tokens frozen?
2767  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Local Bitcoin stopped service! on: March 05, 2023, 10:11:55 AM
I was a hub for bitcoin USDT buyers and sellers in my local community. If I take that into consideration, after Binance and Kucoin implemented the so-called p2p, I started to lose customers. my daily volume was dropping significantly and at some point, I was forced to stop the service because it wasn't getting me any good profit. The same goes for localbitcoins too I think. They can't generate enough profit as they put effort. As long as there is domination from Binance and Kucoin, I don't think websites like local bitcoin can't grow much.
I don't see big differences in what KuCoin/Binance calls P2P and what LocalBitcoins was offering.

- LocalBitcoins was centralized. Binance and Kucoin are centralized.
- LocalBitcoins requires KYC. Binance and Kucoin require KYC on their P2P platforms because fiat is involved.

Was it a fee issue? Did LocalBitcoins charge too big of a fee that made them lose their customers in the end?
I assume there is a withdrawal fee when you finally want to withdraw your coins from the site. That's also true for Binance and KuCoin.
2768  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: March 05, 2023, 09:47:26 AM
If Binance has to leave the market because of competition, that will be great but if it disappears (like FTX), I'm afraid this will create more chaos among people. Media will also multiply negativity ten times and probably we will lead to a situation where people will demand more regulated exchanges.
A good service can regulate itself with a well-thought out system. You can buy and sell bitcoin on Bisq for fiat without intervention from traditional regulators. it's not the fastest service, but it works as advertised. Try and scam someone who knows what they are doing on Bisq and see how it goes. Not only will you not succeed, buy you will also lose your security deposit, amounting to 30% or maybe 50% of the amount that was supposed to be traded. Although I think they made some changes recently that also affects the security deposits. Apparently, you don't always lose your security deposits if the trade goes sideways.
2769  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Facts about BingX on: March 05, 2023, 09:25:14 AM
Is there a specific reason you want to use this exchange or CoinEx instead of one of the more popular centralized exchanges since that is what you are interested in?
If you are trading alts and shitcoins, just find your coin on CoinGeck or CoinMarketCap, hit the exchanges/market tab and check where the assets are listed and what the trading volume looks like. I am sure you can find better alternatives than both CoinEx and BingX. If not, it would be a good idea to consider whether that is a cryptocurrency worth purchasing.
2770  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: FinchPay - service to buy & sell crypto on the fly on: March 05, 2023, 09:11:41 AM
I would never trust or recommend that anyone use a service that creates alt accounts and 1-post shills that post fake reviews, questions, and praises for the site and its team. It's a cheap marketing attempt to bring some hype where there isn't one. I doubt that any genuine Bitcointalk user tried this exchange.
2771  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: High-Tech Goods ↔ for Crypto on: March 05, 2023, 08:59:18 AM
I couldn't find any smartphones on your site but you said in your announcement they should be part of the offer. I guess you removed them for some reason.
Are the prices on your site up-to-date? I am asking because when I tried to check what phones you have, I saw this in the results: LENOVO Laptop ThinkPad X1 Gen 5
This is a €4-5k laptop if the info I found is correct, but you have it on offer for $12,000.

What is the situation with the smartphones?
2772  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ChicksX - ✅ Bitcoin Exchange Services ✅ on: March 05, 2023, 08:28:14 AM
The domain name isn't suitable for a crypto exchange. I haven't visited the site, but it looks like an instant exchange judging by the screenshot that shasan posted.
If that's true, what is the benefit of using your service instead of some older competitors like Changelly, ChangeNOW, FixedFloat, or any of the other ones? Or an aggregator like BestChange to find the best deals, for example?

Can you give us some pros and cons?
2773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Paper wallet on Android phone on: March 05, 2023, 07:50:06 AM
In short, yeah I believe a malicious actor could potentially monitor your camera for malicious purposes, and it's probably been done.
Do we have any reports it has happened to crypto users or that they have been targeted by whatever party was interested in obtaining their sensitive data? It's not easy to prove and probably not documented so people can only speculate if it's happening and how.
2774  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin Bookstore on: March 05, 2023, 07:41:29 AM
Whatever wasn't working yesterday seems OK now and I can open the site now. I like it. It's got plenty of filters to help n finding what you are looking for.
A couple of suggestions though:

  • I am not a big fan of looking at the white background. Please add a darker mode or allow users to switch between light and dark.
  • The site seems a bit slow when I play around with the filters. Maybe the experience could be a bit faster.
  • Have you thought about offering a preview of the books? A couple of sites that the user could read directly on the page. I have see that on Amazon and similar sites.

Overall, nice work, and I hope you will have success with it. Can you share some data? Have you gotten some commissions already from sales?
2775  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin Bookstore on: March 04, 2023, 08:29:09 PM
I would love to take a look at your website but I am getting a dial tcp4 i/o timeout error on my end. Is the site currently down or is there an issue with VPN connections? A quick google search mentions firewall and network issues as reasons for not loading the site. Might be something to do with DNS servers as well.

Other sites load just find and I haven't noticed any similar issues today.
2776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Signed txn - inserting scriptsig on: March 04, 2023, 05:10:42 PM
Maybe because he doesn't have the key to sign the transaction...
He mentioned in the OP that the transaction is signed and that he also has the scriptsig, but somehow it's missing from the transaction he built. Maybe he just thinks it's signed. I don't understand how it can be missing and still be a valid and signed transaction. How do you prove to the software you can spend those coins without the scriptsig? It shouldn't work. And if it doesn't, how can there still be a valid signature for something you can't spend?
2777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Paper wallet on Android phone on: March 04, 2023, 04:43:30 PM
No, but it could record his hand written seed phrase. No reason to take the risk when the solution is so trivial.
I see. Do you believe this could be an accidental recording done by the user or something malicious by the phone system or one of the pre-installed Google bloatware on it? If we go back to the Android being open-source, that's the place to look for those who know how to. I doubt any of the pre-installed Google apps are or anything else you install from Google that requires camera permissions. It's not a secret that Facebook and Google record everything you say and then you see ads of the things you talked about on social media for example.
2778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Changing a word of a seed. Will it break safety? on: March 04, 2023, 03:14:14 PM
If you don't trust your hardware wallet to generate your seed, why did you buy it?
If you lost trust in it in the meantime, why are you still using it?
If you don't trust it with the entire 12/24 recovery phrase, why would you trust it to randomly generate 11/23 words for you?

I like making comparisons. The first thing I thought about is this. I think my wife will poison my food so I am only going to eat 11 out of 12 meals she puts on the table in the upcoming days.

If you don't want your hardware wallet to generate your seed, you have three good choices:
- coin flips
- dice
- software on an airgapped computer
2779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Paper wallet on Android phone on: March 04, 2023, 02:42:51 PM
<Snip>
I have two questions.

1. Why put tape over the phone's camera? It can't record your screen or your keyboard, and since the person has already used this phone before, he might have taken numerous pictures of himself and others around him. Is it because Electrum requires camera permissions (for scanning QR codes)? Do you have reasons to believe the camera access can be used for something else? In that case the proof must be in the code.

2. What happens with the phone afterwards? If the person will use it with all its features as a normal smartphone, can we really trust that all sensitive data got wiped with the last format?
2780  Economy / Gambling / Re: shame on the stake on: March 04, 2023, 02:19:25 PM
Don't let this bug(7 seconds delay) become an excuse for them not to pay your rewards. Because if they are legit and you are also doing according to their rules, there is no problem with as they will listen to your explanations but nothing happens as there is no support team to help you solve the problem.
You really should learn how live betting works before commenting and talking about betting features you don't understand and probably never tried in your life. I am talking about live sports betting. If you ever placed a live bet in your life, you would understand how pointless your comment is. Google it and educate yourself. Or talk with someone who knows about these kind of things. You can't judge something you don't understand.
