So with coins worth about $40 per now I'm out over $1600 USD thanks to Hashking. That's enough to motivate me to do something.
As mentioned before everybody is willing to chip in After-The-Fact if a settlement is reached. We need to create a fund of people who are willing to pay up-front. Anybody who does not contribute to the fund is not eligible for compensation from the settlement (if one is reached). I have no legal background but I get to have fun with a deposition in a couple week (God I hate those things). I'll be asking my med-mal lawyer if he know any attorneys in who might be willing to pursue the case. But I'm located in CA and Hashking is located in the crook capitol of the US (Chicago area I believe). If anybody in that vicinity knows an attorney who might be able to take up the case that would be better.
I think a reasonable number to ask if for 12.5 to 25% of the amount lost - in my case I lost about 40 BTC so I would have to chip in 5-10BTC. We either need a mod or a very senior member to act as collections for fund. I'm not volunteering myself as I'm too busy at the moment with the deposition, my business, babies, etc.

My favorite post of yours was the one about cooling the miners by leaving a refrigerator door open. I hate you - had to buy 23 mini fridges only to find out it wasn't making the room cooler Sounds like there's something wrong with your fridges. Fridges make it cooler inside the box by moving the heat to the outside. Newbie. The science has been documented : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=30602.0

Im a customer so Im trying to stay optimistic but I cant even imagine how people who ordered summer of 2012 are feeling with thousands of $ locked up for 8 months and endless excuses and delays.
Imagine ppl who ordered then and paid in BTC. A Single would cost about 216 BTC.
That's about what I paid for my Singles on Day 1. I thought I would get my ASIC before most everyone and be able to make the 200+ BTC back. I'll make my $1350 back but I did not intend to "sell" the BTC - I wanted to leverage it into more BTC. In that aspect I have failed (or rather somebody failed me).

Send me one so I can provide an unboxing video, a video of it running on a pool, photos (inside & out), and to prove it's legit to the community. Once it's proven to be true you know that you will have a magnitude of orders and stand to make a financial killing.
I haven't a good camera right now, but I promise send photos as fast as it possible. Yeah, real hard to take photo and post them !!! Much harder than making an Asic /sarcasm There's a lot of planning that goes into getting a camera. You need to figure budget, whether you want 4/3 mirrorless, DSLR, DX or FX if DSLR, Prime or Zoom lens, etc. Making an ASIC hashing device is child's play. Got my 3 year old working on it right now - just trying to reroute power from the easy bake oven to the flux capacitor.

Is that 19,000 number accurate or an exaggeration? source?
Buying in at this point is a risky proposition. Perhaps even across your suggested 12 month period I would likely wait for hardware. The price of BTC is at a record high, and I have been around long enough to know what is likely coming.
EDIT: - thanks for the link to the forum; didn't realise there was a BFL forum.
- I saw a post with something about 16,000 queue which makes your 19,000 figure look a little more credible: Are all the ASIC chips common for all units, so every BFL product (and the entire queue of pre sales) is waiting on the same chips?
Don't listen to cdog. Bitcointalk is filled with people of 2 different camps: Those who have orders with BFL, and those who think BFL is the devil incarnate. He's obviously of the latter mindset. There are 19,000 order numbers, but they started at ~1600, and only paid order numbers actually get shipped. It ends up resulting in a lot of false numbers that aren't really orders at all. I myself went thru 7 order numbers before I finally bought my first SC Single (due to wallet problems), so there aren't actually 19,000 people in front of you. A: I am a BFL customer, so I dont know what you are talking about B: The false ASIC orders were removed from their system recently. So its 19,000 - 1600 or whatever # of FPGA units they sold is. My point stands. If you dont mind being out $30k for 18 months and then making a marginal profit, its probably a good gamble. Thanks for the response. I am reconsidering the 30K unit, as it seems like getting several 60 GH/s units may be the better way to with the current backlog of BFL orders. The $30K may be too big of a liability for anything > 6 months wait... Does anyone know if there is a good place to look for people selling their BFL pre-sale queue positions? Also, is there a good way to do this; Do people get updates regarding their position in queue? I would be happy to pay a premium; almost goes without saying. Regards, Johnny The people who are at the very front of the queue, like myself, will most likely not give up their spot for anything less than an obscene amount. Many people have asked looking for a June or early July order -good luck - you're better off finding a Cass coin on the sidewalk. The other issue is BFL and Avalon will not allow changes to shipping address to avoid issues with people's accounts getting hacked. So even if you bought someones order you would then be delayed by waiting for a second shipment. Best bet now would be to buy coins and wait for a strategic entry timing (as more ASIC vendors will pop up).

Yeah that's some rapid growth....last night I was looking at it was 4+ TH and this afternoon 7. Seems to have tappered down to 5.5 roughly.
No issues for me tonight on stratum (was getting hiccups last 3 nights)

power consumption is currently not a concern
Settings on MSI: 1.3 volts 20% power 1220 core 1070 mem 80% fans
Drop the memory to 150 or 300 since it doesn't effect mining output and it will put out less heat. Drop the core clock from 1220 to 1200 if it's crashing. If it stays stable for a day consider toying with 1210. 80% fan is fine if you're going to only mine for the next 2 weeks, otherwise you're putting more wear resulting in buying a new fan (gonna cost more than you'll make in BTC). Run the fan at 50-60%.

I'm pulling over $100 a day during weekdays but on weekends my real job still pays the bills (for mining hardware).

OK thanks, seeing as though BTC GPU mining will be worthless soon, its mostly for LTC mining. Which has the edge in that department, the 5970 or the 7970? I think either will be overkill for gaming 5970 hashes more for LTC purposes. 7970 if you're looking at resale value and gaming ability.

I decided to be a guinea pig and try 2.11.0 on a single rig. Took a nap and it locked up the second I went to sleep. I guess it was trying to switch from Ozcoin to BTCGuild (both stratum connections). I was mining on a single 7870 with Catalyst 12.10 drivers on Win 7 x64.
Afterburner shows it was still burning up the GPU but apparently no shares were being submitted. I just force-closed it and reverted to 2.10.5
