2761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IMF urges El Salvador to remove Bitcoin as legal tender on: January 31, 2022, 07:58:35 AM
What can the IMF do if El Salvador will still continues to use bitcoin as a legal tender?

They made their decision, they already adopted bitcoin and they cannot just easily change it because of what IMF says.
It's their personal decision and before they consider bitcoin as a legal tender, they already had a series of studies to know how it will benefit their economy and their country overall. Besides, it's not only bitcoin that is considered as legal tender in their country, they always have an option.
Honestly, IMF has nothing to do with the decision of El Salvador, but it may affect the relationship status between them. IMF is seeing the threats brought by bitcoin and according to them, bitcoin adoption entails large risks for financial and market integrity, financial stability, and consumer protection. It also can create contingent liabilities. Read it here: https://www.imf.org/en/News/Articles/2022/01/25/pr2213-el-salvador-imf-executive-board-concludes-2021-article-iv-consultation

Nayib Bukele is very firm in his own decision not to abide with IMF, but i don't think El Salvador citizens agree with it since there were 80% of them were totally against from adopting bitcoin.
2762  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Errol Spence Jr vs. Yordenis Ugas 3-Belt Welterweight Unification Match on: January 31, 2022, 05:09:56 AM
Ugas used Pacman as his stepping stone to have bigger fights and it's a dream come true for him because after Pacman, he now will face Spence, and who knows it will be Crawford next.

This is wrong. Ugas don't use Pacman as a stepping stone but he was asked to be a replacement fighter for Spence Jr. It's not that Ugas eagerly requested of it. It's a chance that he grabs right away. It's an opportunity. And since he won, that leads to another big fight.

Ugas prior to defeating Pacman is already out of the discussion in any big fight that's why when he was asked to fight Pacman, he grab it right away even there's roughly just a week to train.
Yeah, he was just a replacement and he confidently accepts that even he knows that he's fighting a legendary boxer and he knows the door of opportunity that would open up if he would able

to beat him up and it did really happen and now we are seeing that he would fight on the guy that he had replaced on which if he do able to beat him up then that would

surely be a big boost up on Ugas boxing career and might be considered to be one of the best. What you think?

There were some excuses on Pacman's camp on that lose, so Ugas has to prove that he really is a great champion and that is by beating Spence which again he is listed as the underdog in the sportsbook. I like Ugas discipline, he is so humble and you can tell he is really working hard to achieve where he is now, but in order for him to kill the doubts of the people on him, he needs to beat Spence, very simple.

Finally, we have the official announcement from the PBA.

Quote
PBA Governors' Cup resumes on Feb. 11

THE elimination round of the PBA Governors' Cup will resume on February 11 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said teams will first be given 10 days to practice starting Feb.1.

But fans will still not be allowed to watch the games in the first couple of days of action.

In his initial assessment, the league may welcome fans on the second week of its resumption, depending on how the COVID situation will progress.

"Wala munang fans. Pag-aaralan muna natin yung sitwasyon kung pwede na tayong magluwag. At the earliest baka second week magpapasok na tayo ng fans," Marcial said.

source ; https://www.pba.ph/news/pba-governors-cup-resumes-on-feb-11

No more speculation now as it's already announced that the PBA will resume, and we should be happy with that as betting is always fun when watching the PBA>

Yes, this was breaking news on most sports groups on Facebook. When I see the news, I'm not really surprised since I expected already that one of these days, we can see a good update. Glad to see that they are now coming back.

They are now been half of the Governor's Cup already and they need to continue now to settle the elimination rounds. PBA imports are also heating up to return on the game.

Still more games to be played, teams that are in the top is not guaranteed they'll make it to the elimination round, as long as the lower seed team will work hard enough, they have a chance to upset those who are at the top. NLEX, Magnolia, SMB, and Ginebra, are the teams that are expected to be in the "playoffs", but let's see if our expectation is correct.
2764  Economy / Economics / Re: One nation one currency... on: January 30, 2022, 11:31:46 PM
From the beginning of humans, we have created boundaries between ourselves by lots of conflict over the century. Our greediness and eagerness for more power make us intelligent animals. Humans are capable of their own destruction. But what if those never happen? what will be the scenario of the current world if there is only one nation and one currency and humans invest their full strength for human resource development and the development of science and technology? What do you think is that even possible in the future and what will be the benefits and inconvenience of it?

This is definitely will not happen. Given the fact that there are countries who are underdeveloped, developing, and developed countries, the variance among their respective treasuries and value of currency would be against the these poor countries. The rich will only become richer, and the poor will become poorer as they will be deeply prejudiced with this kind of setup.

Though having one universal currency may sound a good idea that could potentially solve issues with regards to transaction, I honestly believe that it would bring more harm than good.
This idea of one nation, one currency is not something new. It has been tackled ever since, but it didn't worked out. Although it has its own advantage like having a free trade since there will be no additional charges that will be added, but knowing each country has different economic conditions, then its hard to adopt a single currency that will be most benefited by all.
2765  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC and Nasdaq? on: January 30, 2022, 10:00:06 PM
It's because the other market is also down which is the same with btc and the whole crypto market.

But it's still two different markets and if you're asking if you have to learn more about it. Yes you should. If you want to gain more knowledge and understand both markets.

You're even the one that's going to have the benefits of it, so start learning more.
Usually Bitcoin follows Nasdaqs movements. If monday is red in nasdaq there is a big chance the BTC will follow it. But the thing is a bit more complex so you should really to know what you do.
Nasdaq is based by legitimate companies that are expected to turn into profits but these two different markets are still expected to have their own worth based on their value. Its good if we can also learn about nasdaq rather than focus on bitcoin alone since there is always no guarantee if the currency will always be worth it. Diversification will be helpful if we can aim for bigger profits so maybe we can also check how nasdaq can grow their profits aside from bitcoin investments.
2766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralization ain't the solution to everything on: January 30, 2022, 09:21:27 PM
It is not the solution for everything, but it is much better than the existing system, I mean centralization. It is true that everyone benefits from decentralization, including criminals, of course, but this does not mean the abolition of a good system because it allows the benefit of some criminals. The majority of society benefits from decentralization and criminals are the minority, so it is not fair to abolish this system In which most people benefit in order to prevent some criminals, we can find other ways to prevent criminals from taking advantage of decentralization while preserving the good advantages that centralization has, basically this argument is used by governments to fight decentralization and maintain their centralization and control over everything.
Currently, decentralization works more on us because we can feel the freedom that we can't even experience from a centralized system. And that also includes those criminals, but this decentralization is not made to increase the rate of crimes but rather to help us live the better way we want it to be, and this centralized system is not capable to give us that. In fact, i have here the 3 important advantages of decentralization. Check it out: https://www.inc.com/kenny-kline/3-important-advantages-of-decentralization.html
2767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Still haven't sold a bit of BTC since 2013... if I can do it you can do it too! on: January 30, 2022, 08:36:22 PM
Hi everyone, it's been awhile, just wanted to tell you that I still haven't sold a bit of BTC since 2013... if I can do it you can do it too!

Some of you may say it's a dumb decision or risky, but I'm all for BTC and positive about it. To the Moon!
Not want to judge if it is dumb decision but what will i give is my salute. I know it is hard to resist to sell bitcoin, even when price pumped only $600 i already happy and then sell my coins because never expect it will pumped like nowadays. For me $200 to $600 is a big forward and then i sell my coin at cheaper price before big dump.
That might be a dumb decision but I guess, he loves doing it, and he never cares about profit when selling during the ATH. It was his passion to do the holding and only a few people do. I can't do it, for sure, maybe just months of holding but saying years, that was exemptional.
Well, just to have a two thumbs up for OP of doing it. I don't want to question OP what he do in life for that long coz for me, seeing the market and checking the price every day could add temptations.
Let's just say, OP is very tenacious in reaching his goal, and its very rare for most of us not to sell for that long. For me, there's no wrong in selling as long as there is profits every time we sell, but selling in a cheaper price could only mean losses in the end. If i were in your shoes OP, i will sell some of my coins when there is bull run and leave the rest for future profits. So that i can also buy again bitcoin when bearish season comes to add more on my hodlings.
2768  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Casimero vs Butler ordered by WBO on: January 30, 2022, 01:56:26 PM
Is there any site to see the odds already? or still waiting since April might not still be the final date?

I don't see a site having the odds yet, maybe it's still too early to ask for the betting odds, they are not as popular as the biggest names in the sports of boxing, so we have to be more patient to wait until the odds are out.

From what I read, Casimero here is the heavy favorites, more like a .
Quote

Casimero is a huge betting favorite for this weekend’s bout against Butler with odds ranging from -2000 to -3400. These are the largest his odds have been in at least six years.
https://www.gamblingsites.org/blog/john-riel-casimero-vs-paul-butler-prop-bets-winner/

-3400 converted to decimal odds is only 1.03, that doesn't look attractive to me, risking $100 would only gain 3$ if you win, it's not worth taking the risk to be honest. This would be the home court of the challenger but Casimero is so comfortable anywhere he would fight, that's why bookies does not consider that when making the odds of this fight.
2769  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: January 30, 2022, 01:08:56 PM
Thanks for the update @freedomgo, that's a great news.

So it's not gonna be the 1st week of February but on the 2nd week, regardless, at least it doesn't take too long before the PBA will resume and we can see some live actions soon. There's no crowd, it's understandable, what matters is PBA will be back soon.

They Decided to resume it on Feb 11 which will be great for teams that have injuries, and a great time to rest for players to be in their shape and I think the PBA officials can not do something about the regulation here in the Philippines the need to follow the rules and need to comprehend the situation when the Omnicron Virus have surge here in the Philippines the government needs to take action and place an alert level 3 in all part of the country, but right now that we are back at alert level 2 I think there are certain things that are now allowed, and the LGU even though we are in a certain alert level close contact sport such as basketball are now allowed, so I wish it will not surge back again.

It's good that they already have a date for the resumption. I think all of the imports who nurses an injury are all well now and those who are in the US will have some time to travel and be there in the re-opening.

If NCR is on alert level 2 then possibly crowd will be allowed soon.
That's for sure, but for now, let's enjoy the announcement about resumption as they can still give entertainment even without a crowd.
No schedule for now seen in https://www.pba.ph/schedule.. but I expect them to update it at least a days before the actual date of resumption.

Anybody here knew the status of James Yap on ROS? He was given a contract by ROS and yet i have not seen him played this conference.
No idea about his status now, what I only know is that he run for the politics and probably will get busy since the election are coming.
2770  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 30, 2022, 12:40:33 PM
Nothing has changed with their roster last season and this season at least with their key players.
CP3, Booker, Ayton, Bridges and others are there. I can't remember if they traded some of their players in their off-season but at least their main players are there.

They entered the NBA Finals last season and there is also a high chance that they might enter once again or at least in the WCF if they will lost against the Warriors Cheesy. Their main problem against the Bucks in The Finals is they are lacking inside presence and now they filled that spot already with McGee and now Biyombo. Expectations for this team is very high and we're seeing them dominating again and I agree that we might see them in a long winning streak again.
I am a Nuggets fan but I don't mind for the Phoenix Suns to take this year. Besides, Jamal Murray is still resting and when he comes back it will be like a fresh Nuggets team. I would love to see the Suns take the throne and Chris Paul having his first championship. I bet he will be a lot emotional holding that trophy. He deserves it with all his hardwork and leadership even on his past teams.
What will be the wall that will keep him from taking it? Scott Foster.  Grin Just kidding.

If the Warriors will lose in the WCF, and the Suns will advance again in the Finals, I think they'll still not gonna make it as the Nets are healthy this season, I expect them to beat the defending champion and they'll match the winner in the West.

So if it's going to be Nets vs Suns, I'm sure I'll go with the Nets.

2772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investment against inflation on: January 29, 2022, 11:22:05 PM
Investing in bitcoin is good choice when it bullran, but when it bearish moment, we have to avoid the market until it is reversal
Do you buy when the sale starts or when the prices are high? Roll Eyes

When the market price rises you are going to spend more to get less BTC.
When the market price drops you spend less to get more BTC.

If your objective is to get more BTC per USD/fiat, ask yourself when you should buy. Unless you can answer this question, do not trade at all.

bitcoin has a strong power in dealing with inflation in a country. bitcoin has a different movement with some fiat currencies which are the benchmark for world inflation. when inflation increases, the price of bitcoin goes up, so our investment is always safe to invest.
Bitcoin's system of minting is deflationary and that is an advantage over an inflationary currency. But one cannot exist without the other, you can spend your bitcoins in any country you wish to due to lack of the machinery needed to accept it as payment. When you are selling BTC for fiat so you can spend it, inflation will hit you. In other words, you cannot escape inflation by investing in bitcoin, just like taxation.

Then maybe you can go and visit El Salvador because for sure, you will not be affected by inflation as you will be using bitcoin as a mode of payment. In most countries, of course inflation is there, that is why we have to invest in bitcoin with a higher allocation compared to fiat and maybe hold it until another developing countries will start adopting bitcoin as a legal tender. Arizona state senator propose a bill about bitcoin to be a legal tender, once it will be successful, then we can go there also to avoid inflation.
2773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Casimero vs Butler ordered by WBO on: January 29, 2022, 09:48:56 PM
Nice to see that's there an update now regarding the fight. At last, the official date was release. We are seeing good matches in the 2Q of this tear, not just with our boxer but for other big fights as well.

April, the month to wait and we will now finally see Casimero returning to action.

Hope no more medical issues as Casimero will lose his title as stated on previous post.
Hear the news as well and I think that’s enough time to train and heal the injury with Casimero, this is a great news finally. Casimero really have to fight Butler or else WBO will make their final decision with regards to this one. Now we can talk about betting again, hoping for the fully recovery of Casimero since I’m rooting for him and I still want him to see fighting Inoue after this match.

That's enough time for him to be healthy again and to be fully conditioned. After winning this fight, there still plenty of time to train for the 2nd fight this year, and hopefully that will be against Inoue. As of now, Inoue is free as he already beat his last opponent, so all Casimero has to do now is to win impressively so Inoue would be interested in fighting him.
Hoping for no more reason of delays and cancellation of this match, we’ve waited for this for too long and in the next 3 months, we can finally see these two fighting on each other, no more health issues again hopefully. Let’s see if Casimero can really dominate Butler, since they are both eager to win especially Butler who wants to take Casimero down.
Both of them want to win but may the best man win.

As of now, they have to focus on training to condition their body, but they should not be overtrained so they won't be injured and they'll be 100% ready in the fight night. I am still rooting for Casimero to win but I'll be looking for the best odds if I will put a bet, probably a handicap bet or a prediction of round he could kO Butler.
2774  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: January 29, 2022, 09:05:25 PM
There's no concrete announcement of the dates yet that they're going to resume the said games next week but as said by PBA Commissioner Marcial that they are just waiting for the signal, so it's quite positive that we will be seeing some games soon and that makes me excited because I'm not that contented about the games last year.

That's correct. If PBA will be allowed now by any institutions, it will be easy for them now to work on schedule. It's just that, since they are waiting for it, they can't finalized the date of the return. Should be by February and that's good.

The community isn't that overreacting to our confirmed daily cases everyday. It will contribute to the positive mindset of everyone. As we know, mind over body is really one of the effective way to battle a disease, at most cases.

We are already optimistic that PBA will resume, as optimistic as the management, so that's a good thing and the fans will surely be happy although the setup will not be the same before it was paused. Resume betting again and continue watching the entertaining games of the PBA, with imports playing, that's a higher level of enjoyment for us.
2775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 29, 2022, 08:41:02 PM
Moving on to the upcoming games, we have some interesting games and the best game for me  is the Warriors vs Nets.

Durant is supposed to meet his old team but he was out, so it's gonna be Irving and Harden who will play the Warriors.
Though both stars are listed as probable now, but I hope they'll be playing so this game would be more interesting to watch.

My bet is GSW -6. GL!
Upon checking the ESPN injury updates I don't see them listed anymore. Perhaps, this is a signal from the Nets management that they will play. Good. Better to have good entertainment while putting the bets.
How much was that when it was -6.5 for GSW? Because 1.95 now is -7.5. Shouldn't it be the other way around if the green light for both stars were lit?
Suddenly, it made me doubt to take the GSW spread.  Cheesy I'll just go live.
That's the best thing to do, as of now, the line is already at -8, most likely one of them will not play, so it's hard to back the Nets that way as we know how dominant the Warriors are lately. My guess, Irving will not play but Harden will.

Early picks: Philadelphia 76ers vs Sacramento Kings - 76ers -10.5
Memphis Grizzlies vs Washington Wizards - Grizzlies -5.5
Good luck.

All these favorites looks good for me, so I'm tailing with this pick mate.
2776  Economy / Economics / Re: Buy Crypto Or Have Fun Staying Poor! on: January 29, 2022, 03:33:20 PM
If ever you have enough money as capital, it's better to invest in crypto especially now that  market is down. You can buy good coins in a lower price  then just hold to have a huge return when bull market come. If you believe in crypto and invest , it might change your life  in the future.
We should advise first the newbies to learn to understand what cryptocurrencies are before investing. They shouldn't do the mistake of others that they've invested blindly and become surprised when they saw the market went down.

They should break the cycle with that if they ever want to invest in cryptocurrencies. It may take a few days or weeks before they understand it and willing to take the volatility that it does.
That is, if newbies are only here believing that crypto is a get-rich-quick scheme, that will definitely put them in losses. But if they can be guided by early birds here, that will lead them to invest in crypto with full knowledge and without hesitation. Crypto investment is definitely good and profitable, but we should always be wary about it as its more volatile and is susceptible to hacking, and until now its seen unregulated by the government.
2777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: State Senator Introduces Bill to Make Bitcoin Legal Tender in Arizona on: January 29, 2022, 07:48:39 AM
I'm not from the US. But, passing it as another legal tender for that state may become unsuccessful. This is just all about the attention since making it a legal tender became trending last year thanks to El Salvador. But let's say that it becomes for real as a legal tender there, is it possible that the POTUS will intervene on that likely to stop the implementation of it? I don't know how states and national law works there since I've never been there in my life.
Bitcoin is certainly legal in US  and even in most developed countries like Japan and UK. But proposing a bill to make it a legal tender may not work  because US government has its digital token from its own official currency which is CBDC ( Central Bank Digital Currency) that is fully backed by the current government system. Maybe in the near future but not in the present times. Source: https://www.google.com/search?q=us+constitution+that+prohibits+cryptocurrency
2778  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't be wiser than the market on: January 28, 2022, 02:20:38 PM
First, learn with your past mistakes.

If you've been trading for a few months or longer, you already have enough experience and knowledge that you can use to take advantage of those mistakes you did in the past.

Avoid being greedy and you should always target what's achievable. What's wrong with the new traders today, they're idealists but they're not realistic.
And they stick to what they think will work, but not taking it seriously. The reason why traders mostly fail is they never exert extra efforts so they can win their trades, because they believe that trading could make them instantly rich.

If you think you have potentials to make a good trade, enhance it. But don't be greedy and even think that you are good enough to overtake the market, because you will never win from the market.
2779  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What do you think about CELO coin? on: January 27, 2022, 09:15:11 PM
If one will venture on this coin, he must check the current progress of their developments. Because it is already listed in binance and the trading volume is quite good. So now, since the market seems to be bearish, would be good time to invest in promising coins. But as I said, you need to check the actual plans and development for this coin before buying blindly in the market.
All those new and developing coins do need to know their every plan so that one day they can find a surprise through the news and developments and if for now it looks really good I don't think there is any reason to delay buying it.
CELO looks good on me but it is noted that it has made a price decline of -6.2% in the last 24 hours. But i think this is not surprising since we are in a bearish market now. If you think it has high potentials to develop and grow more after this bearish season, then there's no reason not to invest. Also, make sure to invest first with a small capital since its still in the process of proving its worth in the market.
2780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is El Salvador in debt because of the bitcoin price drop? on: January 26, 2022, 09:59:15 PM
Here they write that El Salvador has a debt to the IMF in the amount of 287 million dollars. I am sure that this is an old debt and it arose or increased even before the adoption of bitcoin as a national payment currency. Now, if the government of El Salvador does not sell his bitcoins at the current low price, then he will not have financial problems. Of course, the world has not yet known such an experience, and the whole world is watching how the economy of El Salvador will behave in the face of falling Bitcoin prices.
This time may be a great challenge for El Salvador as its their first time to witness bitcoin falling its value. But not on the part of Bukele as he was used to crypto market even before El Salvador has not adopted bitcoin. But if they are just hodling their coins with this current dump, then i don't think they will lose and maybe put in big debt. I believe the said debt was already here before they adopt bitcoin.
