2781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: kawpow hashrate changes all the time ? on: August 23, 2022, 04:29:12 PM
I've mining ETH for a long time, but I mined some RVN before

The algo Kawpow was made to not work with Asics or at least to make the life os Asics devs very hard, it's the 3rd algo of RVN evolution.
Explaining in a simple way, it's like a couple of algos and the order of these are based on the hash of the last generated block.
It's better to read the official info here:

Quote
The algorithm is intended to address the centralization of mining caused by ASIC hardware. In the original X16R algorithm paper, the team behind the currency explains that the fixed order of ordinary hashing algorithms lends itself to the construction of ASIC miners.

The initial X16R algorithm aimed to overcome this problem by constantly disrupting the ordering of the hashing algorithms – it uses the same algorithms used in X15 and SHA512, but the ordering of those algorithms was changed based on the hash of the previous block. Eventually it became economically viable for X16R ASIC's and the community decided to implement new algorithms to mitigate the unfair distribution of Ravencoin. The community has carried out 2 algorithm forks to date to mitigate the potential efficiency improvements of the ASIC miners equipment compared to over the counter consumer grade equipment.

The current  KAWPOW algorithm aims to overcome the problem of centralisation of mining by utilising over the counter graphic processing unit (GPU) memory and compute capabilities. This is intended to allow most consumer grade GPU hardware to mine Ravencoin. The KAWPOW algorithm was derived from ProgPOW and ethhash, with modifications, to improve the distribution of Ravencoin to everyone.

@Agbe can you edit the poll to include more squads? (reset this one)

Italy will not play World Cup

My suggestion is something like the most favorite in the odds:

  • France
  • Brazil
  • Argentina
  • Spain
  • Germany
  • Portugal
  • Netherlands
  • England
  • Belgium

This way we can see which team is the favorite among us  Grin

...

Sempre importante manter o navegador atualizado.

@2stout I can't believe the spots aren't full yet, it's a shame for us South Americans  Cheesy

I don't know if it's good or not but why if you change the rules to 2 spots per user?
 Just a suggestion ok

I'm bumping this thread, maybe another couple of South americans will see and post here, but there's 21 spots left
2786  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Buying a Hardware Wallet in US on: August 22, 2022, 09:44:13 PM
Hey guys, first of all I already read the posts here about which hardware wallet to buy but I have a few questions about, and I think a new topic is better than ask in old ones

I'm going to travel to US next week, and I don't have a hard wallet until now, but I need one ASAP

I was so sure about a Ledger Nano S, because I can find in Best Buy, but after reading here some threads, I'm disappointed with the reviews, specially this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5370521.0

My conditions are:

  • Under 100 USD
  • Available to buy in USA
  • Preference to buy in a store (not mandatory)

I think Ledger is the only one Best Buy sells, and Trezor website shows that is located in Czech Republic, but I don't have US adress.
I found this reseller in Trezor's website, but I'm scared to buy outside any official website: https://www.thecryptomerchant.com/products/trezor-hardware-wallet

Thank you guys Smiley

2788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH diff bomb what can a miner do? on: August 22, 2022, 06:01:32 PM
So you did a thread to promote the delay

I don't have a huge number of GPUs, I'm under 1Ghs haha, but I'll move some Hashrate to ETC too, right now I'm full ETH via Ethermine receiving in Polygon Network
I used to mine ETC a long time ago, I think in 2017-2018 I mined some full coins of ETC but sold after that.

It will be an interesting experience if we can delay the bomb some days, everyone will notice this haha, and I'll be happy to have some more days to accumulate more ETH
2789  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: September is already here on: August 22, 2022, 04:53:41 PM
Not gpus but I think you meant asics and I think you are right, there are too many 5gb asics that stopped working recently and I assume that is why eth network hashrate decreased. The truth here is x profit, etc at moment gives 2x less than eth, no sane miner with gpus with more than 5gb would change to etc.

I know about Jasminer and Innosilicon A10pro, both 5GB asics
Is there more?
If I remember correctly, the Bitmain E9 have 6Gb (and probably hundreds of them mining right now)

I'll try (not a promise haha) to make the math of the exacly moment ETH hit 5GB dag size and compare with the drop in hashrate, we can have some clue

I confess I'm very curious to know about the percentage of Asics in the network
2790  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Brasileirão 2022 - Brazilian Championship Serie A on: August 22, 2022, 03:39:07 PM

Yes.. I believe in this round had several unforeseen events, the results of some games surprised many people...
I didn't bet on the Fortaleza x Corinthians game... because I would bet on Corinthians lol

But I did  Cheesy

I lost a good bet on Corinthians yesterday haha, I was so sure about the victory, I lost 25 BRL

Corinthians is lacking constancy, it's curious, the team won a game 4 x 0 against Athletico and got the classification for semi finals of Copa do Brasil, after that lost a match to a team almost at the demoting zone, and lost the 3 place, now it's 4th.
Even with so many new players, the situation is not good.
Now it's 10 points distant from the first place of Palmeiras.

I almost put 50 BRL, but I glad I didn't  Cheesy

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5410570.msg60787343#msg60787343

2792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: September is already here on: August 22, 2022, 03:14:17 PM
ETH has Vitalik
ETC has Vitalik words of support ( either real or not )
ETHW has who? Nobody

The case of the new PoW forks will end up just like BCH and BSV lol, I think miners will witness a very ugly future before things get better.

I posted here about this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5410662.msg60800136#msg60800136

ETHW (obviously) need devs + community to succeed
But I remember that even if a strong person supporting a coin it's not guaranteed success, the example is Roger Ver and Bitcoin Cash, even an early and famous adopter can't make BCH even a top 15 coin, after that fork they tried a lot, but people still use BTC instead of BCH.

Maybe a solution to ETHW is to have strong support from big exchanges, just an example, if Binance works with FTX and have some good devs, or a famous dev...
2793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pardon is this sounds stupid on: August 22, 2022, 12:24:36 PM
Nothing will be reset, this is not a brand new coin so do not expect anything of such, the journey will begin where Ethereum left off, the problem is how this project will survive, if all what ETHW have to offer is just the PoW algo its going

I think that PoW is enough boost for the ETHW coin for developers to start building their apps like they did in Ethereum and this will keep ETHW in track to become why not the new coin which differently from ETH may be supported by the miners and apps thus making it the new number one coin to be mined,of course this is the most optimistic scenario of all,if they did reset the Dag file which I find it highly unlikely,a lot of this coin can be mined in the beginning and this would also be beneficial to many miners, again this is another optimistic scenario.

Let's see
As a miner I always wish for POW coins to mine, but in the case of ETH, it's very dependant of Vitalik.
Most holders and community are happy with new POS and the future of ETH.

ETHW can flourish only if some good devs supports, and the strong  enemy here will be ETC and not ETH itself
Lot of miners are changing to ETC
2794  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: WSL - World Surf League - Discussion Thread - 2022 on: August 21, 2022, 08:03:22 PM
I believe that the odd is currently at a lower value. So, you will certainly win something.

Where will the next competition be?

I made my bet here: https://www.betfair.com/sport/surfing
But it's not available to bet on the winner of the season, only in a few days you'll have the chance to bet again, but on the event alone, not for the entire season.
I considered a good odd of 8.0 due to the performance of Filipe Toledo I saw last year.

Now, the TOP 5 surfers, Men's and Women's, will dispute the last event, all 5 from each category will have the same chances because it's like a final event, who win this event will be the season champion.

The next event is Rip Curl WSL Finals
Lower Trestles, San Clemente, California, United States
SEP 8 - 16 - 2022

If anyone is interested, here is the page for the final event: https://www.worldsurfleague.com/events/2022/ct/10/rip-curl-wsl-finals/main

I forgot to post the Women's final chart:

2795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: September is already here on: August 21, 2022, 05:41:19 PM

yeah. I get it short term thinking.

My thoughts are to continue shifting to etc and hope people continue to do it.

If we all did this it would prolong the difficulty bomb by as much as a month.

And I can already see that my eth earnings are not decreasing as much as I dropped the hash rate because eth difficulty has decreased matching my hash decrease.

The difficulty right now is dropping even more:

The last time ETH was at this hashrate was December 17, 2021, with 11,404 - Now is 11,592

Just to compare, this is the difficulty chart of ETC

2797  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Brasileirão 2022 - Brazilian Championship Serie A on: August 21, 2022, 01:32:40 PM
The odds payout for Corinthians to win the match in full time against Fortaleza is @3.65, even though the odds payout are looking very attractive for Corinthians but I think they might struggle to beat Fortaleza. Fortaleza are playing quite well recently but I think this match might ends up with a draw with both of these teams getting a point each.

Good to know haha, it's 3.75 right now and I made the bet

25 BRL to win 93,75

Why I'm betting against the odds?
I believe Corinthians will do a good match to have some hope in brasileiro after Flamengo took his 2nd place.
Even playing in Fortaleza's home the team is better than Fortaleza, won for 4x0 last match against Athletico GO, and this is an incredible opportunity.
If Flamengo vs Palmeiras ends in a draw Corinthians can reclaim 2nd place and be 2 points closer to Palmeiras.

So, it's an extremely important match.
2798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New coin for miners on: August 21, 2022, 01:23:49 PM

I have an idea start moving to etc now.

I have 10 gh hash.

I now do 8.7 eth and 1.1 etc

if diff lowers on eth now it will delay the bomb.

moving 10% of your hash to etc will slow eth blocks

do this again in 5 days or so.

I didn't think about that, it's interesting, maybe you can create a thread to spread the idea.
(I don't know how much we can delay doing this, we are small miners), maybe a couple of days?

I prefer mining Ethereum still, why are miners trying to delay the bomb? I want the fork to happen faster than others because Eth will had incredible value once the merge is complete, there will be more scarcity and yes we have the ETHW anyway.

Can someone tell me the difference between the ETHW and the sp_.

The value in USD of ETH is not guaranteed.
I agree with you about having ETH, and yes, it's the cheap and easy way for us to mine some ETH and hold, but I'm doubt about the near future.
Everyone is expecting a rising in value, but the merge can already be priced, and will depends of how BTC is going to be to follow.
2799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pardon is this sounds stupid on: August 21, 2022, 01:07:16 PM
It's not a stupid question
I tried to find some info, but nothing is 100% on ETHW

The new fork, in theory will keep exactly the same things from ETH right now, equals in the past but at the moment of the fork, chains will be different.
Devs have the power to reduce DAG size, like ETC did in the past to avoid 51% attacks.

If you want my opinion, they will not reduce DAG, if they reduce, we can see a huge number of old hardware mining again, and this is not the situation right now, with the end of ETH there's already tons of GPUs seeking for a new coin to mine.
2800  Economy / Services / Re: [PAID TESTERS NEEDED] Zenland Blockchain Escrow Platform | Up to $30 (open) on: August 20, 2022, 06:44:10 PM
Finally I tested and I'll leave my report
It's my first escrow, I knew what it is, but never used

Starting from website
The landing page is beautiful, clean, not too long scrolling, and the style is similar to other websites in crypto world, and this is good. The UX Design did a good job here, it's easy to find the elements.
The animation is algo good enough to provide a simple explanation about the service.
All links I tested are working, social networks, contact etc, from top to bottom, I think the service is close to launch date and the product is almost finished.
All documented, another positive thing.

I liked the simple explanation here: https://docs.zen.land/getting-started/how-zenland-works
Easy to understand, nothing more to add.

The color palette is also good, clean and professional.

Last, but important, the website works good at different sizes, and also mobile.

Now the app

Obvious, but have to be said, no need to use e-mail, only your adress, so you can stay anonymous.

Info when I hover the mouse is working good and well explained.
The "It is me" part is good to not have to copy and paste one more andress.

Easy to navigate though date and time

Chat is working and it's very usefull.

I found a small problem of no connection, but I updated the page (F5) and worked again, I was connected, only happened once

Small suggestion here:
If it's possible do an animation to get more attention if a person receive a chat message, just an small movement will be enough.

I simulated a problem with the product but before the need to Invite an Agent (I don't know if it's ready), and then released the money.

Before accepts the contract I simulated a change from 1 hour to test, to 2 hours, worked good too.

Small bug here:
I made the contract with BUSD but is showing USDT

Another small suggestion:
I don't know if I'm leaving a review for the another person/adress or for Zenland, maybe it's good to explain

Small suggestion, the last one, the balance only shows $, but I think it's easier if shows the coins like USDT or BUSD
Please disconsider if all coins will be converted to USD

I hope this report helps you, all my suggestions are in bold.
I tried a lot of things, I tested not only one but a couple of times, and will continue to try to see if I find some bug (I'll post here if I find one)
I wish all success

Edit: Payment received
