2781  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: what fun in GAMBLING? on: June 05, 2016, 09:29:32 AM
I have chosen sportsbetting as a recreational hobby of mine. I used to bet a lot seeking to make a profit and chasing the losses after a bad run but I realized that it's not worth it to make gambling your job and that expecting to win most of the time is just unrealistic. Gambling as a hobby is actually pretty nice and I get to have fun for a lot less money than a cinema ticket for a Friday night blockbuster movie. I don't need to bet much to have more fun because everything depends on how you perceive gambling. I think gambling in moderation is not bad for you like any other activity done in moderation like drinking with friends or eating chocolates or pizza or whatever else you are doing  Wink
2782  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Games Prediction Thread on: June 05, 2016, 08:43:34 AM
Belgium had a very disappointing match against Finland in the previous international friendly game. 33 goal attempts and just one goal in the whole match for the 1-1 draw. I don't know why the Belgium national team can't harness all the potential from its individual players because Belgium has amazing footballers on every position who play awesomely for their respective clubs but for some strange reason they can't work together very well in the Belgium squad. Belgium is the dark horse of Euro 2016 for me and if they manage to pick themselves up and play as a team we may see them in the final. So for today I will risk it again and bet my money on Belgium to win.
2783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin IS basically DESTROYED on: June 05, 2016, 08:01:48 AM
But are there really any Westerners who have moved their mining operations to China? Everyone involved in Bitcoin mining in China I have ever seen are Chinese themselves. The problem with China is that the government is striving to become an economic superpower and if they could achieve that by controlling the miners and the Bitcoin mining farms in the country do you think they would shy away from doing that? The Chinese have demonstrated bad business practices before and I think they will take full advantage of Bitcoin if the opportunity arises. China will not want to destroy Bitcoin if they can gain profits off it.
2784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Four Fascinating Ways To Get Free Bitcoins on: June 05, 2016, 07:08:01 AM
Excuse me but I had a look at your suggested ways of earning some quick coins and these 'methods' seem like a massive waste of time. If you had invested this time fishing for free coins into 1 more hour of overtime work at your job you would have probably made more than 1 weeks' worth of spending your precious free time doing mundane tasks for Bitcoin. But I do agree that gambling is a fun way to spend your time though and with a starting capital you may win a lot but also lose a lot. I guess everyone can do whatever they like to earn Bitcoin, but there are far more efficient ways of obtaining coins that require way less time just saying.
2785  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin continuous rising? on: June 05, 2016, 06:18:04 AM
The price was as high as $600 yesterday and now it's down to $570 again. I think the current market movements we are seeing are probably mostly caused by the Chinese investors buying Bitcoins because of the weakening Yuan. These small ups and downs are not characteristic of a pump and dump scheme at least for now but I am not a trader so don't quote me on that. People expect the price to double at the time of the halving but if speculators start selling back Bitcoins the price drop will be imminent. I think we need to hold our Bitcoins at least till December when the dust will be settled and we will have a better picture of what the market trends will be. Just my 2 cents on the Bitcoin price speculations  Wink
2786  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin? on: June 05, 2016, 05:50:18 AM
I have been thinking about Bitcoin lately and how my life would change if I decide to go for a full-time employment in the Bitcoin industry but I don't think this would be a wise idea because being self-employed would mean losing all my current job perks working for the man like paid vacation, health and dental insurance etc. Also even working for Bitcoin instead for fiat won't make me rich because I am not an early adopter and I won't get cheap coins any more. Yes I know the value of Bitcoin could rise in the future but I may very well continue to work for fiat and buy coins with my salary so I can get the advantages of both worlds. Honestly I think Bitcoin is best tackled as a side job or a hobby and not as a main source of income because the volatile price is kinda worrisome.
2787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: EU wants to Control the Internet and Destroy Bitcoin on: June 05, 2016, 05:16:01 AM
But people have been voluntarily sharing what they are doing throughout the day on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, Twitch and many more social media sites. Also Google and Microsoft are datamining their users like crazy especially with Windows 10 which is designed to be a user statistics grabbing tool disguised as a free OS. Your common email providers are not giving you free anonymous email service either and God knows which government agency has been reading your 'private' mails. I mean we have been putting out our life for everyone to see like all day long all over the Internet and now we are worried about logging into websites by using our ID's instead of a username and a password? If this is an optional way to have access to my accounts it's not such a big deal but obviously this way of logging in won't be implemented in Bitcoin sites because it's against the Bitcoin 'pseudo anonymity' principle. By the way the Bitcoin exchanges already know who you are, where you live and what is your bank account, would you care much if you log in using your ID card there? I guess not Cheesy
2788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone ever lost bitcoins before? on: June 05, 2016, 04:45:17 AM
Well aside from losing Bitcoins to gambling I have forgotten the passwords to several Blockchain wallets when I was first starting out with Bitcoin. Also on top of that because I was testing out different online wallets in order to find the one that would suit me the most I missed out on getting a lot of CLAMS because I didn't keep the login details for the different websites I had registrations at Cheesy It's not such a big loss I have to admit but it left a sour taste in my mouth and nowadays I am taking a proper care of all my important login details by using a good password manager. You never know when you will need to log in to some old Bitcoin wallet haha  Wink
2789  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Whats about the Gambling, when Bitcoin is going up? on: June 04, 2016, 02:50:41 PM
Sometimes I wish the Bitcoin gambling sites were displaying the Bitcoin value in fiat so I would know what the current amount of Bitcoin I am betting with is worth because for the past couple of days I had to constantly check with a Bitcoin price tracker in order to calculate my betting unit sizes according to my bankroll. But if Bitcoin continues to rise so much in price I may stop betting with it and move to alt coins or probably stop betting crypto coins altogether and move back to betting with fiat.
2790  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Games Prediction Thread on: June 04, 2016, 02:21:17 PM

2791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Soccer Transfer Market 2016/2017 ! on: June 04, 2016, 01:41:22 PM
I have read an article saying that Cristiano Ronaldo would like to leave the La Liga and return to the Premier League to play for Manchester United under Jose Mourinho. Jose and Cristiano had a good time together in Real Madrid and it would make sense to see them together again in United after Ronaldo has had enough playtime in Spain and would like to change the country.
2792  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price will reach $4000 after halving ? on: June 04, 2016, 01:17:53 PM
Do you guys remember the Wall Street specialists who predicted the price of Bitcoin would shoot up to $5000 in 2014? They said that right after the price reached $1250 in 2013. Well what happened after that was the price dipped below $200 and nothing in their speculations turned out to be right  Cheesy I think we must be very happy if the value of Bitcoin at least doubles after the halving as this means everyone will be making a profit miners included also so no one will need to shut down their Bitcoin business. $4000 is quite a big amount but anything is possible and the Bitcoin market could certainly accommodate this price after a pretty big pump though.
2793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is cheapest to buy with bitcoin? on: June 04, 2016, 12:45:45 PM
When I want to buy some item that is priced in fiat for cheap I usually search for discounted gift cards for that particular retailer. Bitcoin sellers tend to offer the cards at much less than the face value but you have to stay alert for possible scams because not all gift cards have been obtained legitimately. However if you can find a reliable seller you could save a lot of cash by going the discounted gift cards route. I have managed to save up to 50% of the final price tag of gifts over the last Christmas season by using cheaper gift cards purchased with Bitcoin.
2794  Economy / Economics / Re: Does bitcoin will decrease after the last rising ? on: June 04, 2016, 09:37:15 AM
No one can say for sure what will happen to the price because everything depends on the market movements. If we take into consideration the supply and demand principle the price of Bitcoin will continue to raise as long as the users don't start cashing out their coins for fiat tempted by the big value they see on the exchanges. If people stay calm and keep on hoarding these Bitcoins the price could very well surpass the $1000 threshold even before Christmas. However if the speculators stop buying in Bitcoin and move onto other alt coins due to higher profit margins the price will go down. I am trying to learn how the stock markets work because Bitcoin is acting like a commodity now more than ever and whoever has knowledge about the market movements will make a lot of money.
2795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase? on: June 04, 2016, 09:23:38 AM
i dont think bitcoin will increase price again

Never say never mate  Grin  The price has been absolutely crazy during the past week and today it's fluctuating around the $585 mark and I have a feeling we will have a stable $600+ in the evening tomorrow. I have seen some people mentioning that the price increase is due to the Chinese speculators investing in Bitcoin because of the weak Yuan and not because of the upcoming halving. I am not completely sure what is going on but I don't think the real pump has even started yet. I hope people will continue to hold and not start to sell prematurely because this will cause the very volatile price to fall again. The doubling of the Bitcoin value seems very plausible now with the current tempo of price increase  Cheesy
2796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Australian Newsstands to Sell Bitcoin Over-the-Counter on: June 04, 2016, 05:08:49 AM
Very cool.   Surprised that it's newsstands that are doing this.  There aren't many of them left since the internet kinda sorta put newspapers out of business.  It's ironic.

Well at least in Europe we have a lot of newsstands selling stuff ranging from lottery tickets to prepaid cards to newspapers and magazines so I wouldn't say that digital press has put paper out of business yet and I am seeing a lot of customers queuing up to buy things from kiosks every day. The business is certainly not dead and the Australian startups have surely analyzed the market situation before coming up with this business plan because selling Bitcoin from kiosks which have a great exposure to the general population is pretty much an untapped market in my opinion. I would love to see this implemented throughout Europe as well and if it will have lower taxes than ATM's it would be very much appreciated  Cheesy
2797  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Safe wallet for a newbie on: June 04, 2016, 04:49:52 AM
I can recommend some Bitcoin wallets I have used based on my experience if you wish. I am currently using GreenAddress online wallet and it gets the job done perfectly. I think it will suit the needs of a newcomer better than the official Blockchain wallet because it's very easy to use, the user interface is not cluttered and very intuitive and people can log in with a PIN which is a very big plus when you are in a hurry and on the go. For mobile devices I have used Mycelium and Copay which are both very solid wallets with a good track record. Also I have heard that Bread wallet is a very good choice for the Apple platform but I don't own an iPhone so I haven't tested it myself. For the desktop I have recently tried the Electrum wallet which is a pretty popular software Bitcoin wallet and you can't go wrong with it. I think you should test a couple of wallets and settle on the one that best fits your needs  Wink
2798  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happens when Chinese speculators enter Bitcoin market? on: June 04, 2016, 04:31:41 AM
If the Chinese are really wanting to get their yuan out of the country, then they will start buying in Bitcoin and this will basically raise the price because the Chinese will create a bigger demand for coins. However when they decide to get rid of Bitcoin and get back into fiat they will effectively crash the Bitcoin market by creating a bigger supply than the actual demand requires. Such extreme conditions are not good for the Bitcoin economy in my opinion and we must be careful because we can easily be caught in the bubble and lose a lot of money when it finally bursts.
2799  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do winning and losing gamblers have different personalities or habits? on: June 03, 2016, 07:59:27 PM
I think the difference between winning and losing gamblers is just luck. This may sound like a stupid statement but as long as you are making the correct decisions and the correct plays then over the long period of time you will have made a profit. People can't control what will happen during the sport event or what the next card will be in a poker game, they assume things based on knowledge about the game and past experience but in the end all that matters is pure luck. Of course veteran players with a lot of bets under their belt could possibly lower the uncontrolled variable of luck in the long run but still gambling is not an exact science and will never be. There will be good runs and bad runs and no one could predict exactly what will happen unless they have a superpower like clairvoyance or something. You could have read all the books about poker in the world but this feat would not always make you a winning player because luck can't be taught or acquired. Yeah pro players can calculate odds and expected value but at the end of the day the luckiest players bring home the bacon  Grin
2800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Banks Hates Bitcoin? on: June 03, 2016, 06:46:59 PM
Banks are dependent on people's deposits to make money because they are using the money in the savings accounts to give out loans and profit off the interest rates. Also they are making money off the fees associated with the maintaining of debit and credit cards and the checking accounts. If people decide to ditch their bank accounts and move most of their funds to a Bitcoin wallet that will certainly endanger the bank business because they will get less cash to operate with and generate less profits in return. So I bet banks don't like Bitcoin at all.
