Why do people buy new gen video cards for bitcoins? ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) maybe in march or so last year.. color me shocked if that gets a bid at $2000

Patience I have and will go to eBay if needed... Think I found a home for one of them -- powering some BFL singles EDIT - Appreciate the standing offer InabaCouldn't fathom how you'd get more than that offer via eBay. You're losing 9% in eBay electronics fees, plus another few percent to paypal.

So, you're splitting this up then? Any 5870s left?

I'm guessing that it's fine to install this but I still don't want the new OpenCL, eh? (I like being able to set memory clock low)

they've got the (*ed) FSP Group Aurum Gold's on sale now at NewEgg... One of my OCZ's blew out so I had to replace it and the SeaSonic sale was over so I grabbed one of those... it's almost as efficient as the SeaSonic & the 750W model didn't max out until around 830W (was getting about 83 or 84% efficiency >800W)... none of them have many ratings, but if you add 'em all together it's 25 out of 25 five stars... it is a really good PSU

Yeah deals can be found but it is hit or miss. I got 3 5970s for $285, $330, and $400 (including a $100 waterblock). Sadly one of three was bad. ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) . For the next two weeks I didn't get a single one which wasn't over my limit ($330). Luck and timing plays a role. Yeah, I've bought two 5870's from there. The first one was perfect from the get-go. The second one I noticed idled at over 45oC, probably why the guy sold it. Luckily it just needed a better thermal paste job... i'd be hard pressed to recall a time where i'd seen so much thermal paste caking all over the place (and my price point on 5870's is $165 now, many sold in the $160-$165 range on ebay)

Fresh out of Newbie status and your first post is selling overpriced hardware! Not saying you're a scammer, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, GTFO.
PS. Fuck off. We're not that stupid.
wouldnt a scammer price that stuff to actually.... sell? $230 for 5870s? lolz Why Paypal Gift when you're selling physical stuff? That sounds dodgy to me. to avoid the fees. but, yeah, the buyer wouldnt have much recourse then.

The card hashes right now at about 420. It is at 935/300 at default voltage.
I have two that run at 450 and 455 mhash, one @ 980/215 and the other @ 1000/215 (worksize 128) and stock voltage not sure if those specific cards have been tested for stability. pretty big range. my sapphire 5830's ranged from 945 to 1050

All about density brother and a 5970 is hard to beat...
for me, it's all about what will retain its value the longest. i guess once you spend $400 on some graphics card, everything you make after that is profit, huh? except, a month later, that 5970 will be worth $350. 5970's aren't so bad anymore, though... hell, one sold for $265 on eBay a couple weeks ago, and $210 last week. 5870's are still the best buy, right now (** err, maybe not, seeing what 5970's are selling for now on ebay) Ummm, please show me these! I will buy them all. bah, would be in my grubby little hands had I seen it in time! here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-XFX-ATI-Radeon-HD-5970-/270941599873?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item3f1560b881#ht_500wt_1182umm, he says he's selling two of them in the description. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) that's the $210 one... or, uh, the $105 each.. then there's: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Radeon-HD5970-2GB-256-bit-GDDR5-PCI-Express-2-1-x16-/150777721402?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item231b0d723a#ht_1211wt_1166$265 and: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-ATi-Radeon-HD-5970-2GB-GDDR5-PCI-Express-2-1-x16-Graphics-Video-Card-USED-/130670704094?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item1e6c94b5de#ht_1388wt_1166$300 after that, you have one at ~$330, and then a veritable feast around $375 if i saw any listed by someone with at least a little feedback, i'd go for $350 or less

these are horrible, unless you're buying them for gaming.
These cards are awesome. Most efficient bitcoin mining gpu available. haha... so what? have fun with the depreciation in value. only one looking to buy this should be someone that is going to use it for gaming, possibly wasting it for bitcoins when they arent otherwise engaged ed: i think it's safe to say that most people don't understand the economics at work here, or are wealthy enough that they just choose to ignore them. buying a 7970 to mine bitcoins would be bordering on the foolish *even if your electricity costs are 0c*. the only valid play would be speculative, but then you'd be better off just buying the bitcoins off mtgox.

Eligius has been spitting out a lot more 1 transaction blocks than the "mystery miner" lately. I noticed they have some astounding luck ratio for the last 36 hrs or so, too..
sadly, i've moved off from eclipsemc for the time being, such luck curves lie on the far edge of 'reasonable' probability
So you think a 339 GH/s pool has found 22 blocks so far today, most of them being 1 transaction blocks? And the Eligius blocks that have transactions look like normal Eligius payouts while the Eligius blocks with 1 transaction go to one address. Or do you think that maybe there is a problem with the reporting of the blocks? I vote for option two. Especially considering this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=70581.msg812711#msg812711shrug? does it matter? i will say that i was mining on there when at least one block was solved, and i received a payment for it maybe it wasnt one of the 1 blocks

5970's are falling off a cliff as far as value goes. 5870's are a much wiser purchase.
Should wait another month or so on the 5970's.

these are horrible, unless you're buying them for gaming.
the depreciation on them is obscene.
i know some of the people here just don't even care about the profitability (or lack thereof) that their 20ghash farms or w/e are putting out.
but right now you should be looking at 5870's and 5830's, and watching closely as the 5970's continue to fall in price
i sold my used 5830's for more than i payed for them new. 5870's are down to $170'ish now and you can sell 5830's for over $100 on ebay.

well, i was present all of block #47 and was issued .54 bitcoins for 4911 shares, the person right above me received .61 for 1685.
i first started in block #46, reached 5,901 shares, and received .38 bitcoins. some fellow named NoodlesMcGee received .41 for for 5,499.. fair enough, since it seems like he's been around for a while. in block 47, he received .32 for 1039 shares, vs (as mentioned earlier) .54 for 4911. miners were running the whole time.
i shifted some off after seeing that, seems a bit extreme.
the only time I came out ahead on a pool with a similar system was after I stopped mining
