2782  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you miners ever feel bad all pollution mining causes? on: August 29, 2012, 10:23:32 AM
All the electric you use for mining = more carbon in air. Do you feel guilty you are profiting off earths destruction through greenhouse gases?
Bullshit, the normal system with banks, banknotes, coins etcetc pollute much much more. Bitcoin is much greener.
2783  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is all this FPGA ASIC mining talk on: August 29, 2012, 10:22:58 AM
Time to destroy your enthusiasm

http://www.butterflylabs.com/products/

The FPGA on the left does more than 800mhash and consume 80watt. But ehi you have free energy

Well, then have a look at ASIC. They will be released in october/november.

Yes, for 1299$, the price of your computer, you can have 40Gh/s. A much much more than your 1.5Gh/s you have right now.

That's WHY people are jumping first on FPGA (because not everyone have free energy) and then ultimately on ASIC (because 40gh/s for 1299$ is king)

Look at specialization. The BFL ASIC is a chip specially made for bitcoin mining. CPU, GPU and FPGA are not specialized for bitcoin mining. Nothing can be faster than a specialized chip, except another specialized chip made in a better way/with more transistors

And again. If the asic's will come out (this is ofcours not sure) the hashingalgorithm will propably change and your hardware will become useless. bye bye 30K.
No it won't change, stop spreading fud
2791  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin and the ASIC Conundrum on: August 28, 2012, 11:02:48 AM
p2pool would solve that problem

and if you spent 30.000$ then you better be able to use p2pool instead of using deepbit.
2792  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: RollProxy - a bandwidth-saving mining proxy on: August 27, 2012, 10:13:39 PM
What about just using p2pool?

Also, can I mine other crypto-currencies with theses like Litecoins and name coins?
Not litecoin. As far as i know you can use it to mergemine things like namecoins and other crypto-currencies that can be mergemined together with Bitcoin, and only them.

Where can I get these "SC" cards?  Can I get them off newegg?
No

You get them here http://www.butterflylabs.com/products/

Single SC, 1299$ for 40Gh/s

They should start selling them before december. A much much much better thing than the computer you want to buy.

Hell, even the FPGA (The Single) is much better (and about the FPGA there are no doubts, a lot of ppl already bought and received them and is happily mining with them)
2795  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PCI based Mining hardware? Instead of GPUs on: August 27, 2012, 09:03:21 PM
Isn't a GPU PCI-based?
Yes but they are not built for the purpose of what we are using them for hence inefficent. It's like using a car engine to generate electricity sure you can do it but there's better engines to do that with.
Ehm, do you know the FPGA and the ASIC?

Miners have been using dedicated hardware since months, lot of ppl use FPGA to mine.

And BFL soon will release ASIC to mine (yeah well, probably they will)

2797  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BFL Mini Rig SC on: August 27, 2012, 07:45:51 PM
+1 what kjj said

Risking 30.000$ in something like that is not a good idea. So far no one have seen a ASIC from BFL.
2798  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Could I get some tips on my miner set up? on: August 27, 2012, 07:33:13 PM
32giga of ram? and why such a big hard disk? and cpu mining litecoin.. i don't know how profitable it is. Dunno, if you want to invest 1300$ you should buy an ASIC, a Single SC does 40GHs/s, much more than the 800mhash of that 7970
2799  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BFL Mini Rig SC on: August 27, 2012, 07:13:00 PM
Probably not, ASIC is the future so buying one is a good idea. This of course if they really will deliver them  Cheesy
2800  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: anyone reckon the value of bitcoin will double in the next 12 months? on: August 27, 2012, 07:06:14 PM
22$ per bitcoin is doable  Cheesy
