Other: actively discouraging and preventing state violence.

Also: preventing banks from laundering money for terrorists and drug cartels.

great to hear you've officially used Open Bazaar! you're one of the first customers that I'm aware of making a physical purchase. hope to set up my own store there eventually though it will probably be just digital goods.
2783  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which Bitcoin Exchange do you use and why ? on: June 21, 2015, 08:20:30 PM
use btc-e and localbitcoins for btc trading and for alts I tend to use cryptsy, bittrex and poloniex. never had many issues with any of these exchanges apart from the odd delay with withdrawing coins.
2784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn: In about 1-2 weeks, Bitcoin XT will include support for 20mb blocks on: June 21, 2015, 07:43:01 PM
This thread went from Bitcoin Discussion -> Altcoin Discussion and back to BTC Discussion... why is this not in the Alt part of these forums?

It was never in the altcoin section. What are you taking about?

The XT threads were moved over to the alt section and have since been moved back:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1090801.0

Once XT hardforks, it will be an altcoin. I was thinking that it was supposed to hardfork today, so I didn't move the threads back when I saw them moved yesterday. I moved them back for now.
2785  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is "Circle" a good place to buy Bitcoin? on: June 21, 2015, 06:52:25 PM
Hello Bitcointalk.org forum. i am new to Bitcoin so i am here to ask all of you a question. Is "Circle" a good website to purchase Bitcoins? Are they legitimate? If i do manage to purchase some Bitcoin where is the best place to keep my shiny new purchased coins?

Thanks everyone

never used circle myself but I have heard a lot of positive feedback from other users. far as i know it's only for US customers which is a shame, maybe I'll get to try them out one day. like odolvlobo said, Electrum is one of the easiest wallets to use. if you download a wallet app for your phone just make sure you don't keep too much btc on there.
2786  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar - decentralized eBay on: June 21, 2015, 06:33:57 PM
There should be many different markets all running the same software or something similar. There should be legit ones that can be like direct competitor to ebay then there should be darknet ones that sell drugs. It surely can't just be an uncensored free for all where you can buy anything from legit goods to drugs and cp. I'm not sure how Open Bazar will work fully but its going to be interesting for sure.

i'm fairy sure OpenBazaar will get forked so there will probably be quite a few different versions running in the future. personally I hope OB stays fairly legit so that it doesn't alienate people from using it. got no idea how they could enforce that though, maybe they'll setup some kind of report mechanism to shut down sales of cp and guns etc
2787  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Women Who Call Out God's Name During Intercourse Should Be Jailed on: June 19, 2015, 04:54:15 PM
I'm in the clear at least. My orgasms customarily begin with a couple of hail Satans and round off with a salute to L Ron Hubbard.

count yourself lucky, most women I've slept with end with a sigh and a whispered "Is that it?"
2788  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar - decentralized eBay on: June 19, 2015, 03:16:28 PM
Is there a forum to review current sellers on openbazaar ? since most of the dark markets have a forum where sellers get rated.

not as far as I know, could try https://www.reddit.com/r/OpenBazaar/ for some more info. wouldn't presume it's only for darkmarket shennigans, I'm hoping it's going to be a more legitimate way of buying and selling. if lots of people start selling drugs on there it isnt going to be good PR for bitcoin...and it wont help convince Ebayers to switch over.
2789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best method to create a paper wallet on: June 19, 2015, 03:00:48 PM
[you must download the genuine version of Electrum & store it in usb stick. Also scan it with your latest anti-virus]

1. Disconnect internet from your Laptop/PC
2. Format all hard drives
3. Install windows again
4. Never connect internet
5. Install Electrum & use to generate your address.
6. Back up your seed, private key & password in a printed paper. Store it in your Bank vault.
7. uninstall Electrum
8. Format all hard drives
9. Install windows again
10. set internet connection again

dude you shouldn't be using Windows to create paper wallets. a much easier and secure way of doing what you just said is to download Tails OS and run it from USB or DVD (it already has Electrum installed). no need for you to keep installing windows.

Awesome! Your posts will begin to be counted once you fix up your personal message. Then you're set to go!

Done. I had to remove some of the spaces to get the personal message to show up properly, not sure why it did that, maybe it went over the character limit?

2794  Other / Politics & Society / Portugal decriminalised all drugs - now hardly anyone dies from overdoses on: June 08, 2015, 06:45:28 PM

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/portugal-decriminalised-drugs-14-years-ago--and-now-hardly-anyone-dies-from-overdosing-10301780.html

Portugal decriminalised the use of all drugs in 2001. Weed, cocaine, heroin, you name it — Portugal decided to treat possession and use of small quantities of these drugs as a public health issue, not a criminal one. The drugs were still illegal, of course. But now getting caught with them meant a small fine and maybe a referral to a treatment program — not jail time and a criminal record.

Among Portuguese adults, there are 3 drug overdose deaths for every 1,000,000 citizens. Comparable numbers in other countries range from 10.2 per million in the Netherlands to 44.6 per million in the UK, all the way up to 126.8 per million in Estonia. The EU average is 17.3 per million.

Perhaps more significantly, the report notes that the use of "legal highs" – like so-called "synthetic" marijuana, "bath salts" and the like – is lower in Portugal than in any of the other countries for which reliable data exists. This makes a lot of intuitive sense: why bother with fake weed or dangerous designer drugs when you can get the real stuff? This is arguably a positive development for public health in the sense that many of the designer drugs that people develop to skirt existing drug laws have terrible and often deadly side effects.

Drug use and drug deaths are complicated phenomena. They have many underlying causes. Portugal's low death rate can't be attributable solely to decriminalisation. As Dr. Joao Goulao, the architect of the country's decriminalization policy, has said, "it's very difficult to identify a causal link between decriminalisation by itself and the positive tendencies we have seen."

Still, it's very clear that decriminalisation hasn't had the severe consequences that its opponents predicted. As the Transform Drug Policy Institute says in its analysis of Portugal's drug laws, "The reality is that Portugal’s drug situation has improved significantly in several key areas. Most notably, HIV infections and drug-related deaths have decreased, while the dramatic rise in use feared by some has failed to materialise."

Thought this was very interesting, I heard about this a few years back but didn't think anything of it. Maybe the next step will be legalization?

2797  Other / Politics & Society / Re: You Can Be Prosecuted for Clearing Your Browser History in US on: June 08, 2015, 05:20:37 PM
No need to clear the browsing history, let browsers not to remember the browsing history ever.
Then you won't be able to prove that you didn't clear it.

and why should he prove something? is in US something like "the presumption of innocence" in place?

it's more like guilty til proven otherwise, especially if you're black or even remotely look like a muslim. the US has turned into megacity one, every cop is the judge, jury and executioner.

2798  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: June 08, 2015, 04:32:57 PM
Keep posting to boost your rank,
and then signup for signature campaign.

Currently I earn 0.0011 BTC for each post

i can't join on BIt-X
iam earn too 0.001 for each post but limited 100/week
why do you want to join bit-x campaign? there are higher paying signature campaigns out there. and they don't need your phone number to accept you in their camp also they pay you directly in your own address.
like my camp that pays 0.0015 BTC/post for Sr. Members or Dadice

phone number is just for security purpose, it should not be mandatory, i don't know if they changed that, but even then, you can use a phone number that isn't your, if you feel raped in the privacy

and no signature is paying more right now, because with bit-x there is no limit of post, that's the great thing about it

still, I'm not a fan of giving out phone numbers, never had to give any ID info to exchanges before so I'm a bit reluctant to do it now. having no post limit is a bonus though if you make a lot of them, pretty happy with the bitmixer campaign as there's no minimum post requirement.
2799  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Question about Paypal-Bitcoin trades on: June 08, 2015, 03:16:53 PM
Wouldn't it be possible to create a new Paypal account, receive the money first, spend it or give it to another account and then just forget about it?
What will PayPal do if your transactions get reversed if you're at 0$, will they void other transfers, good purchases or gift cards bought?
Wouldn't this allow doing whatever you want with zero risk if you simply transferred all your money to another account as soon as you received it?

like Rappelz said, if someone does a chargeback to your paypal account and you have $0, your account will go negative (and fairly sure the money will go back to the other person). in effect you would owe paypal that money and your account would likely be frozen til you've cleared the funds back to zero. if your paypal acc is linked to your bank account they might even try to debit it to get their money back (assuming you set up a direct debit when you linked the account). if you dont clear the negative balance after a few weeks they will pass it onto a local debt collection agency.

Who will they pass it onto if I make a false account with no links to any of my real world details?

EG: I pay someone 20$ BTC for 20$ on Paypal. I buy a steam wallet card of 20$. The person who sold me the Paypal balance for 20$ charges back. What happens to the gift card I bought? Will Paypal try to follow it?

No bank account, credit card or debit card connected.

Ahh I get you, thought you were referring to a paypal account linked to your ID. As far as I know I don't think paypal would follow the money, the pp account would probably just go negative and that's it. For such a small amount of money it's not worth the hassle. If you're talking $100s or $1000's it might be a different story.
