It's just an update, an extra feature which is pretty cool on the already innovative app. Gems own features will stay as it is and it will stay an app build on top of Bitcoin empowered by Counterparty. Telegram intergration just makes it even more versatile so even better than it is. Also besides that i makes it possible for both iOS and Android to be released at the same date, because Android was planned for a later date, by doing this the airdrop will be available for both operating systems at the same time why are you jealous. The code is build from scratch, adding extra features on top of it like this one is great. Your trust rating and post history shows you are wandering in this forum just to talk nonsense. You should just be ignored.
When it's built on top of Telegram then it's not built from scratch as it was originally said it would be. After a few good questions and clear answers from the Gems team I was happy that you all were transparent, but now the team has switched everything AFTER they have received the 3000+ BTC. All trust is now gone. In this case, the milestone for launching the iOS and Android app can now be completed much earlier. Yes exactly I am always thinking people are so silly. I hope Gems raises $1 million because every $1 they raise give the project more chances to succeed. They dont need a new type of app, plus wallets, plus ads, plus..... Use a proven model like Telegram and build on it! Make it unique and people get paid from it! I want the $1 million to go into marketing and getting the app to millions of people. I want blockchain bloat to be caused from Gems because they are 50000 downloads per day. These are the problems bitcoin needs. I want Gems to be the first Crypto project to have more users than Bitcoin, since it's consumer friendly it is possible. Marketing is important indeed. |

Development Update On behalf of the development team, I'd like to provide an update on our development plan to address feedbacks around Android release schedule as well as concerns around bootstrapping the initial user base -- which is the biggest challenge for any new social network. While working on our iOS proof-of-concept version for Gems, we have kept evaluating different options for messaging infrastructure, including homegrown, open source and even commercial solutions. After much heated internal debate and evaluation (Surespot, Textsecure, Telegram), we ultimately decided to leverage Telegram's infrastructure given its open source nature, high level of encrption and relatively mature client app on iOS and Android that we can build on top of. Most importantly, it allows Gems users to seamlessly interact with existing Telegram 50 million active users from day one. With the messaging infrastructure resolved, the dev team can now focus completely on delivering our top priorities and Gem's key innovations - including: - Built-in crypto wallet (which is going to be the first counterparty mobile wallet on the market) - Reward and Airdrop system to reward users - Anti-spam filters - A powerful advertising platform These building blocks togther form the attention based reward economy that Gems aims to build, and help users take back the social network. I only see this solving the drawbacks and making it possible for features mentioned above to be released earlier aswell. Android wallet came at a later date - Now Android & iOS will be released together.Android users couldn't receive airdrops, only iOS users could - Now the airdrop is available for both Android and iOS users at the same time. If the airdrop would have been extended to a later date for Android to be ready, another competitor could enter the field and do it earlier - With this update it will not be possible.Gems innovative features would come at a later date - This way the team can release them sooner than they mentioned.Gems didn't have the advantages of Telegram integration - Gems now has apart from all it's features also the advantages of Telegram integration.Putting Gems in an even more superior position than it was. Does it mean that the Airdrop will begin sooner as well ?
Yes. The original plan was to develop the messaging platform from the functioning alpha. It became obvious that the teams resources would be better spent on developing the crypto/advertising/rewards part of the network. Awesome, i think an update in the OP and other Gems related social media regarding the release date for both operating systems would be cool. |

I was wondering if you guys could post which coins you consider to be apps for the bitcoin world, ie. those that have a use for all crypto users.
How does it help my life or ease my ability to link the crypto world to things I need.
You might want to look at Gems, an exciting project i'm personally looking forward too. It's an attention economy based 2.0 token coming with an app build on top of Bitcoin with the primarely goal to make it easier for the common person entering the Bitcoin ecosystem. It's consumer friendly with innovative features that make sense to use, but whats more important is the team behind it is very well experienced and seem to have some legit connections. Although it's has not been released yet, i recently made a Dutch thread on this aswell. |

I like this Instagram like feature Every user will be able to post his hashtag publicly over the internet (blogs, social media etc) in order for other people to be able to make a connection without having to worry about spam - this is a unique solution made possible by utilizing blockchain technology. |

We all know what Apples policy is regarding CounterParty/Bitcoin apps The policy is that they are welcome. There are many of them in that app store. Taken from Itunes Terms & conditions: https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/Rule 11.17, states the following: "Apps may facilitate transmission of approved virtual currencies provided that they do so in compliance with all state and federal laws for the territories in which the app functions."So my question to GEMS is if they have been approved or not? Gems - messaging that rewards it's users, lets say common users are going to use it but don't receive rewards, wouldn't they be let down?
So both the apps can be released on the same date with full features. Common users won't have to complain about anything, will they? The app is not just for investors, there are millions of iPhone users which are the common person which the app is aiming for.
You understand these investors will be the first adopters who'll be spreading the word on Gems to the common people right? And there are 900 million android devices sold till date too. I don't understand why you guys want to rush everything for such a huge/promising project? I would be fine with it being released at the same time, but changing plans and postponing things usually goes along with disappointments and criticism. I understand that Android has a huge amount of users, but so does iOS. I would rather have it being released on the 30th and wait for the airdrop on a later date than it being postponed, but it should be made clear for the common person not just investors that the airdrop/reward will start on a later date so people don't get disappointed. Besides i think for sending unsolicited messages you will still get rewarded because i would have to buy Gemz (which is possible without the airdrop) to make it happen. What if the marketing is postponed until near to the Android launch? Nobody can create a wonderful app like Gems within 3 months and they don't have resources(Funding, seasoned developers and a face behind it) like what Gems has now. I remember Daniel Peled saying in an interview that they have been working on GEMS since April or May 2014. You can't expect each investor to go around and shop for a new/used I-phone.
I really hope that Daniel sticks to his earlier words and start airdrops on both the apps at the same time. I say that-release a basic app to show the investors or don't release anything at all on the 30th(Believers will surely stick around and speculators can trade until the airdrops). Put together a solid developer team(After all you live in the Silicon valley of the east) and nail down both the apps until March. The marketing can be started around February.

This looks very interesting, you don't see dev teams actual identities in alts at all besides the veri few. Im wondering though if the ico is over lets say on dec 15th, when will the market be open for trading? And when it is open for trading, does that mean there will be no actual app for 2 weeks until the 30th?
Crowdsale ends Jan 5th, i believe market will be open after that, not 100% sure. Gems app it self will be released Dec 30th, don't know if it's beta or final |
