2) regarding running out of fiat. I kind of understand that position, but I don't think that it is a good practice to run out of fiat... If there is any cash flow coming in, then that fiat can be saved.. just in case there is more dip... On the other hand, there could be some luck that this largely $6500 support will hold or at least support at $6k will hold.. I tentatively believe the odds are a bit less than 50/50 for holding... but as we all know, we have already had about 3 or perhaps 4 tests of this price arena... and support does seem to be pretty strong around this area... which kind of makes the breaking of support scenario to be a bit more scary, if it were to happen.  Personally, I would rather NOT have to use any more of my fiat to continue to buy BTC on the way down.. so I would be perfectly happy with this price area holding.  Currently, I have pretty solid buy orders down to about $4k, but I would likely have to scramble if prices were to go below $4k to think about and to consider how to set up my buy orders with the current fiat reserves that I have.  Probably, I am not going to set up those buy orders until the price goes below $6k (that is if it does go below $6k.. so, certainly, I am in a kind of "compelled to watch" position right now.. and nervous for me an likely a lot of peeps - understandably especially for those who have already completely run out of fiat).

I learn a lot from you JJG, but as every apprentice I do make mistakes.  Hoping to not repeat them, which is the hard part!

My last microwall @ 5555€ also was crushed... . And since I already sold the Castle, car, boat, horse, car, furniture, art collection, wife and children, there is only my soul left. Ooogh Faust!

Glad to see what a bit of a defense building up, I'm looking for the giant green candles to pop up.

Looks like the dump express is running out of ammo. Someone is putting real buying walls in the Eurozone of Stamp. The first one of 50 something was eaten and then he put new ones around 5700€ and twice so far the dump was rebounded.

In a previous post I tried to insert an image from wikipedia, but that does not appear?

I do have a pressing question however..  I believe we need to have these particular bottoms quantified and rated from left to right..what say you gentlemen?

For me..I have to say I appreciate the one on the far right the most..  Not sure if its that smile that accompanies it or the slight knock knee'edness...

I'll take the plumpest one, on the left.  Wink

I'm stuck with the one in the middle, since I am a slow poke.  Poor me.   Cry

I think I am stuck with another one and I am going to keep the pic with me... .  Grin

I tend to be a perma-bear, but this most recent crash feels really artificial.

We do seem to be tracking frightfully close to the accelerated 2014 model.

There really should be no reason for 2014 to recur, since the overall situation is so immensely different, but I also can't help but see parallels. I've always thought that the upward movement after the 2015 doldrums was driven to a significant extent by the 2016 halving, though, which wouldn't apply to a time-accelerated model. And in 2013-2015 the price dropped about 83% from its ATH, which would lead to a price of about $3200 in the current situation.

It is artificial. No doubt about that. And indeed it may look similar to previous episodes, but there is no causal resemblance. My idea is that the financial world has been frightened by what happened last year and knowing their
kingdom is floating on bubbles out of thin air have decided to not let that happen again. They want to prevent people moving their savings out.

Not that I think they will succeed, but it will cause some more pain for sure.
290  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 09, 2018, 06:26:01 PM
Many people think that Bitcoin's price action is just pure speculation and completely disconnected from other markets, like equities, commodities, hedge markets, PMs, etc.

But if you ascribe to the notion that :

a) Bitcoin could be a safe haven hedge like PMs, and that
b) the equities market is topping and looks really strained/risky, along with
c) what is happening to the emerging markets, hyperinflation countries, and with
d) Central Banks insolvencies, the Deutsche Bank downgrade, etc.

Well then.... the Bitcoin price action over the last 2 years makes perfect sense in that context.

And soon it will make more sense... .

exciting and creepy at the same time...like having a boner you are ashamed of

Going on the average age of posters in this thread, there's no longer such a thing as a boner to be ashamed of any more for most. All of them are a gift.
It's weird to think of myself as young in the post-mid-30s bracket, but I have noticed the same thing.

I’m early to mid 30’s. Won’t reveal my exact age but yeah, those of us with a half decent number of coins do seem to be over 30.

Always the same problem : More boners, less coins. More coins less boners... .

The thing is, more bitcoins will solve almost anything. If you want more boners, bitcoin can take care of that.

Most sensible ideologic thought ever! So there is hope for all! :-)  And on a sideline, little hope for Soros, Dimon, Buffet and Roach.

Edit: Regarding the photos, those I have no comment on. They could have been faked, sure; the actual landings though, I don't believe so.

exactly

As someone noted above, the whole Apollo program was primarily a propaganda/PR effort.  My theory is that the pictures came back fucked up, over exposed, out of focus...whatever, and the marketing people were like "what the fuck is this?  we can't use this." and then they did what marketing people do...

I agree this is the most plausible explanation.

I saw it live on TV, as an 9 year old. It was just real. No point discussing that. I also read about the Tonkin incident, as a 6 year old. That was clearly a false flag. Nothing has changed about these facts.

Technical Analysis

Bitcoin price structure has remained in consolidation purgatory since cooling off from a meteoric rise near the end of 2017. Periods of ranging, indecisive price action are critical for the market to regain momentum for a move in either direction. A key hallmark for this is a descending volume profile, which has been the case since the low set in February.

Although consolidation within a trend should always be assumed as trend continuation, casting a wide net with analysis, while avoiding analysis paralysis, and mapping out several scenarios is the key to eliminating surprises. Predicting the exact future price is less important than reacting to the price action with a potential trajectory and predetermined target.

This process can be done with Chart Patterns, Ichimoku Cloud, Moving Averages, Pitchforks, and historic macro trends. Further background information on the technical analysis discussed below can be found here.

A symmetrical triangle has formed as price has consolidated, making lower highs and higher lows. In Technical Analysis of Stock Trends (1948), Edwards and Magee suggest that roughly 75% of these triangles lead to a continuation of the trend, while the rest mark reversals. In any case, this pattern will be a ‘trade the breakout’ situation as it will likely lead to weeks of trend follow through. Breakouts post consolidation typically occur after at least 66% of the triangle has completed (yellow highlight).

...

Inverted patterns are typically seen at the top or markets, not after a downward move. While this makes the probability of the pattern becoming a reality less likely, it does not mean that it cannot happen. An inverted Head and Shoulders appeared on the weekly Oil chart after a significant downward move as well, which reached it’s 1.618 fib extension almost exactly on target.

If this inverted Adam and Eve is real, it yields a price projection of ~US$2,900 and US$4,600 based on the measured move and 1.618 fib extension. The measured move target nearly matches the low set in September, as well as the previous resistance throughout June and August.

Bitcoin Price Analysis 31 May 2018 14Bollinger Bands, a measure of price volatility, have also coiled tighter and tighter, as illustrated by the Bollinger Band Width (BBW) indicator. An oscillator similar to RSI, %B, which shows the depth of price relative to the Bands, shows a growing bullish divergence as price dips lower without further expansion of the Bands themselves.

Bitcoin Price Analysis 31 May 2018 15The Ichimoku Cloud uses four metrics; the current price in relation to the Cloud, the color of the Cloud (red for bearish, green for bullish), the Tenkan (T) and Kijun (K) cross, and the Lagging Span. The best entry always occurs when most of the signals flip from bearish to bullish, or vice versa.

The Cloud metrics on the weekly time frame are; price above Cloud, nearly bearish Cloud, newly bearish TK cross, and Lagging Span in price and above Cloud. Together, these signals suggest the trend is neutral but leaning weakly bullish because price remains above Cloud. This is the first TK cross since 2015, while the previous bearish TK cross in a similar position led to a multi-month downtrend. TK crosses on high timeframes are significant and should be seen a long exit signal for trade entries which began in 2015.

Price itself is below the Kijun and, seemingly, in no-man’s land. A long entry would not be warranted until price is above the Kijun with a bullish TK cross, essentially also above the neckline of the head and shoulders chart pattern.

...

Conclusion

For better or worse, economic and trade policies worldwide have begun to dramatically shift with multiple political uncertainties. Bitcoin, and cryptocurrencies broadly, have more recently represented a global futures market to price-in credit risk or lack of confidence in leadership. CNBC recently discussed Bitcoin as a fear gauge for the market, similar to the volatility index.

Technicals are the most bearish they have been in months. Based on the current price structure, breaking up would be much more surprising than breaking down. Admittedly, trend-based indicators like the Cloud become more noisy with non-trending price action, and therefore less reliable for actionable signals. However, even when zooming out on the price action, many of the technicals remain bearish. Currently, the trend indicator to watch is the 50/200EMA on the two day timeframe.

Although too early to determine, one ray of hope would be the possibility of this entire consolidation period representing re-accumulation. Essentially, the entire bull trend from 2015 has been reset, which gives plenty of fuel for a new all time high just as easily as returning to new lows. The direction may be unclear, but the volume-based momentum will be obvious.

A lot of literature to say : "We have no idea, no clue".  Cheesy

“The EU is in an existential crisis. Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong.”
"The strength of the dollar is already precipitating a flight from emerging-market currencies. We may be heading for another major financial crisis." -George SOROS

Fill your bags boys. This is the moment we all have been waiting for. It is coming. Paper monetary system is on life support since early 2000's. QE's kept him alive for nearly another 20 years and It has come to an end.

The next 24 months are extremely critical.
2020 is the estimated year some of us came up with for the So Obvious The Muggles Can't Pretend to Ignore It event. Something that has been brewing for decades will happen, and Trump, the far right extremist president who stole the election, will be blamed.

The next few years are indeed extremely critical. We will either change the turning of the wheel of history, or repeat the cycle.

It doesn't matter. Bitcoin will demolish and reshape every existing order and power structure.
Yes, but at what cost? A WWII style war with a clear and legitimate enemy would be far preferable to a soviet-style meltdown on a large scale. Even if only under the heading that "less people would die".

Does that not feel a bit uncomfortable Ibian, the concept of "A clear and legitimate" ennemy? Between 1933 and 1939 many leaders of the so called democracies admired Hitler, Musso and even the Japanese... . When it comes to war, ther is no such concept. Look at all the wars that haven been ever since 1945, it only has become more and more fog, mist and smoke ennemies. I follow Infofront but for the opposite reasons : Bitcoin is challenging the warmongers.

no government does not sound like a shitty situation to me

We don't have a proper government in the UK, and the arrest and imprisonment of Tommy Robinson may become more significnt thn the Italian crisis. It's opening up a massive can of worms.

belgium did just fine without a government for many, many months.

To be exact 541 days

To be exact : we did not go backwards faster without government, rather slower. :-)

Big spike down, let's see how long it takes to get back to the 7300s.
Hopefully it will get back to the $7300 price range when we wake up tomorrow morning. My thought is that the market correction is over which we ought to experience some gradually pump in price. Is there any reason behind the dump in price than the GOX Trustee flooding the market.

There is no flood, in fact there is nothing and I suspect that is the problem.
