281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What coin buy today? on: August 22, 2017, 06:51:28 PM
GEO, EBST

Hold GEO a while, news tomorrow and it looks like a strong long term hold.

Watch EBST carefully, get out before the dump.

Anytime BCH ("BCC") gets around 0.15 BTC, Wu/Ver will shovel more money onto it until it's back around 0.2 - Free money!
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 22, 2017, 06:03:04 PM
EBST might be another good cheap buy.   Watch it close though, it's way up over average already... but it keeps climbing so it might be getting ready to jump.
283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 22, 2017, 05:54:11 PM
Looks like great catch and great advices on altcoin market. I tip off my hat, sir. I am gonna follow your next suggestions. If I make good money I will definitely tip you more than hat. Hah!
Geocoin looks great.

Thanks and good luck!  Lotta upward movement in the last few hours, looks promising.  I bought some more in last nights dip at 45k.

Some news coming out tomorrow around this time (minus about two hours), watch for that.

And not only that, but fud machines are up at full speed

Yeah, one guy creates a new account, uses his second post on his first day to rail about how I'm 'spreading conspiracies' and 'should be banned'... because I'm complaining on the D3 thread about how Bitmain won't confirm my seven-week-old payment.  Wu's army of illiterate flying monkeys... pathetic.

Jihan and his buddies are probably sweating buckets right now trying to keep their chain up and looking better than BTC Cheesy

Yeah, I've had my miner pointed at antpool-bcc for the last couple hours and it only stays connected for about 20 minutes at a time, then the pool goes 'DEAD' and miner cycles to next in queue... totally screwing up my return rate as it ramps.  Ridiculous, no one will put up with this.

Oh and you mention no one takes BCH, I just checked something, it cracks me up:

Bitmain doesn't accept BCH as payment

I mean... wtf.  *facepalm*
286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: OK, so people are mining BCH, but is anyone actually using it? on: August 22, 2017, 11:43:17 AM
Once another difficulty adjustment comes in and it's not as profitable as BTC, even hashrate on the chain will go down.

True.  If I understand correctly, hash rate moving from BTC -> BCH will eventually mean profit rates on BTC go up.  It's gonna be back and forth for a while I bet.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: OK, so people are mining BCH, but is anyone actually using it? on: August 22, 2017, 11:40:45 AM
Yeah it's easy to see how they're pumping up BCH on Bittrex.  The buys that come in make no sense at all if someone was trying to maximize profits, they just buy two pages of sell offers at a time, instead of the top entry, wait for others to drop a little, top entry again, etc.  Nope, they buy at ridiculous rates because it makes the value look high... until they stop shoveling money onto it, then it craters.
288  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: $40 000 to invest, is there money to make in mining? on: August 22, 2017, 11:13:37 AM
Here's what I'd do:

(Full disclosure: I'm pretty new to mining, crypto, trading, etc.  But I think this is a good plan, it's working for me so far.)

First, buy some BTC, say... $10k worth.

Go to Bittrex, put your BTC in a wallet there.

Buy a bunch of different kinds of alt coins.  Research them first, try to pick good ones, etc etc.  But get a very broad selection of them.  Look for ones that occasionally spike to 150%-200% (or more) of normal level.

Structure your automatic sells so if you buy 5 coins for $10, you sell 4 of them for $12.50, then sit on the 1 you have left.  So if you buy 100 at $10, sell 80 @ $12.50

Leave it alone for a while.  Two weeks, a month maybe.  Don't just sit there and watch it, you'll be tempted to micro-manage the process.

When you come back and look at it, most of them will have hit the auto-sell, covered the initial expense, and left a remaining fraction that was basically free.

Some of them won't have caught, and if you've given it a month and they did not, you might want to sell those off.  Or if you're feeling gutsy, buy more at the lower rate, restructure your sells the same way as before but with the new average buy in price in mind, and wait on them again.

Most of them will have caught because traders routinely pump up any/all of the altcoins to levels way past +25%.

So then you have a portfolio of coins that was basically free.  Sell enough to cover the expense of the ones that didn't catch.  Remove 100% of your initial investment from Bittrex and put it back into long term savings.  Bitcoin would be a safe bet, or silver.

Then I like to setup auto sells with the free coins harvested so as the coin price hits certain targets, it sells off enough for a consistent payoff.  So if coin is bought at $5, and I want to make $100 per payoff, and I have 20 coins, I'd have sells at 10 for $10, 5 for $20, 2 for $50, 1 for $100.  That's 18 of the 20, then hang onto a couple for later.  You'll want to adjust those amounts to reasonable levels for any given coin but that's the idea.  Every time it hits a new higher target -> payday ($100 each in this case, $400 total).  IMO this is better than say... putting in an auto sell of 20 for $100.  Sure you'd make 5x as much... IF it ever hits.  Big if.  Or selling 20 at $10, you only make $200 but if the pump actually went up to $100, you missed out.  With sell targets like I outlined, you get a nice payout at all stages of a good pump and dump.  And you don't have to do anything, it just happens automatically over time.

Once the money from your free coins has built up enough to be relevant, take half of it and do the same process again with it.  Repeat until you have a giant stack of money.

On top of that, you could also mine.  But why?  If you don't have to, and you can do all this from a laptop with zero overhead of power / location / security / etc etc... I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.  What I'm suggesting takes a couple hours a month.

290  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: bitmain next batch or buy avalon ? on: August 22, 2017, 10:35:46 AM
Hey guys,
Does anyone know when next batch of bitmain products will be released?
Did they stop making apw5s and r4s?
ebay sellers charge at least twice the price...

should i wait or buy avalon 741 instead?

thanks

I have never ordered from Avalon but I'll never buy anything from Bitmain again so Avalon will get my business next time.

Bitmain took my money, has not confirmed my payment status even though it's been seven weeks and their support staff has told me and shown screenshots that they did actually get it.  The product I ordered supposedly ships in a few weeks but I won't be getting mine.  Bitmain = crooks, beware.
291  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: August 22, 2017, 10:19:10 AM
No more PPS with "negative 5% fee" (105% PPS)?  Gone from the menu.

Probably just as well, it was always misleading since it didn't pay transaction fees and lately that's upwards of 10-20%  At least PPS+ shares those, but then the fee is 4%, which is crazy high.  SOLO/PPLNS, Antpool still keeps those fees. (Hidden 10-20% additional fee).

Now we know where all the BTC comes from for Wu to pump up BCC on Bittrex!  Well... that and taking peoples money without actually shipping them the product they ordered (SEVEN GODDAMN WEEKS NOW WAITING FOR MY PAYMENT TO BE CONFIRMED).

If a trainwreck and a dumpster fire had a baby, it would be Bitmain.
292  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: August 22, 2017, 10:00:57 AM
What's up with BCC mining on Antpool?

I thought I'd try it to see if the ROI is actually about 200% BTC PPS, as has been much hyped lately.

I go and look at the block statistics page and it's just a solid wall of maybe empty blocks, or blocks with errors, or something that looks like it went wrong.

What's up with that?  Maybe no one is actually using BCC but they're mining it anyways?

I think when BCC's hash rate is refactored into earn rates, earn rates will take a nose dive.

Flip side, earn rates on BTC are about to go way up next diff adjust, right?  Since a bunch of miners jumped over to BCC.

EDIT: Can't even connect to Antpool-BCC now, pool is "DEAD".  LOL
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: eBoost (EBST) - Getting ready for a pump? on: August 22, 2017, 09:19:40 AM
It might be too late to get in.  Take care.
294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: eBoost (EBST) - Getting ready for a pump? on: August 22, 2017, 09:17:58 AM
Up 30% since I posted this.

Still looks like junk, but it's moving.
295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 22, 2017, 09:16:22 AM
guys I have opened ticket 5 days ago on their support but I still don't get any response... Any idea how I can push this issue? I want to send the missing amount to be order marked as Paid finally...

I'm at 7 weeks now.
296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 22, 2017, 08:24:25 AM
yes - just to clarify - I got one miner which cost me 10k

I see, yes I think I was still under-caffeinated there, I got your message mixed up with someone else's who got 4.

I tried to write a reasonable answer to your question, but the best and most accurate answer I can provide is: "I have no idea".  I realized this after typing out a different response below... it was so full of 'I don't know's and 'You should ask someone else' that I just deleted it.   After looking into how Dash rewards are calculated, frankly I probably never should have responded anyways.  Your guess is as good as mine.

Without knowing how many D3's were sold (my guess, about 40k), or other major miners out there (Bitmain D3 is not the only new mega Dash miner on the way), it's hard to say where the diff will land.  10x higher diff? 20x?  30x?  It's going to go way, way up.  And Bitmain will of course be selling more of these as time goes on.

But then the Dash payout structure is also hard for me to decipher.  It's based on a projected average 2 year diff rate, not the instantaneous sampled rate... There's master nodes that get a cut, there's minimum and maximum payouts... and there's potential appreciation of Dash to consider, as well as BTC's constant march upwards.

So I'm sorry man but I really don't know.  If I had to roll the bones, I'd say you're looking at $15-20 a day by December, and less every day afterwords.  It'll be more than that at first but it will drop quickly.  10k is going to be a very hard target to hit.

297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / BTC down a bit, how does that impact altcoin value? on: August 22, 2017, 04:38:04 AM
Lets say I buy some [SHT] at 0.1 BTC per.

Then say BTC drops hard to 50% it's value at the time I bought some [SHT]

Is that [SHT] now worth 200% what I bought it at, in terms of BTC sell value?

Or does it's value go down with BTC?
298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / [CFI] CoFound.it - Long Term Potential? on: August 22, 2017, 03:53:23 AM
This one looks promising.  Fairly new coin, looks like it just came out in mid June a couple months ago.  Price tanked a bit at first but that's typical. More recently, the chart looks pretty good.  Steady daily growth over the last two weeks.

But charts can be gamed, so I don't think that's a good basis to buy on by itself.   So I looked into it some more and the idea is promising, basically it sounds like 'Kickstarter' / 'Patreon' but with crypto.  So you use coins to buy shares in someones project, then you own some portion of it.

The neat thing about that is CFI does not have to do it's own hype.  Other people using the service will do it for them.  And they will never run out of hype.  New project, new hype, forever.

So I'm holding onto some of this for a while, I think it's got legs.

Thoughts?

299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / eBoost (EBST) - Getting ready for a pump? on: August 22, 2017, 03:28:47 AM
So here's this coin EBST ( https://twitter.com/eboostcoin?lang=en ), I guess it's an in-game token for so-called "eSports".

Honestly, it looks terrible.  Mostly dead, barely worth $0.16 per, barely active twitter feed with almost no followers.  No offense eBoost team, it's a neat idea but it's not catching yet.  Personally, I think you need in house game devs and a Unity plugin.  But I say that about a lot of cryptos.

So it really doesn't look like a good long term investment to me... but it looks like someone is stocking up on quite a bit of it anyways.

Lotta buys over the last two weeks.  Spread out enough so the price doesn't jump, but consistently, someone or some group is buying it up.

This coin is not run by devs, the development was outsourced initially and now the whole thing is run by a business team.  I think they don't know games, or crypto, but I bet they know how to pump.

So I bought some, and did my usual pattern.  Immediately put in a sell of 80% of it for 125% what I bought it for, and hold the rest.  To my surprise, it almost immediately clicked, now I have 20% free of some random no volume shit coin to wonder about.

I think that soon, it will get pumped by traders, will skyrocket just long enough for them to liquidate, and go right back down into the dirt.  So I have my 20% staked at several extremely greedy sells just to see.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?  Am I being too negative?  If it was actually in use it would be pretty cool.

eBoost management:  I make games, we could talk about that if you want.  I've always thought 'Tetris Attacks', but for money, would be pretty epic.  I could make that a reality for you for 1.5 BTC.
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 22, 2017, 02:53:04 AM
So, what do you guys think about GEO price tomorrow?

My guess: 45-50k

Maybe a random mid-day trader pump up to 70 or so.  I have some sells in at 73 just in case.  It should hit that on 8/23 for a moment, if not tomorrow (briefly).
