281  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open on: July 10, 2013, 03:06:34 PM
As far as I know, no one can see into the future.  We can just speculate and use past history as a model for future events.  That said, you can use math to run a monte carlo simulation to see what some simple variations of value, difficulty and time can have on an investment.  From there only you can decide if you want to take the risk based on your interpretation.
I typicaly start with this Calculator  http://www.coinish.com/calc/#  to make some rough esimates.

I've been doing all of my calculations based on 150 mil difficulty, and I'm all good. Smiley Wink But I'm anticipating 150 in late Sept. I'm guessing 60 mil difficulty by the end of August.

Did you see the thread with the pictures of all the Avalon chips ready to go? http://imgur.com/a/GR0e3

That, with the Bitfury chips and possibly KnCminer in September. I think 150MM difficulty might be a bit conservative.  Tongue

you could have posted this 90 pages ago and you wouldnt be seeing all of requesting refunds, you might have even kept my business and saved yourself from all of my fud posts, btw where is my refund?

No order?  Don't let the door hit you on the way out.  I'm glad whiners like you cancelled, I've done business in the past with people like you and the money isn't worth the aggravation.

+1   Getting tired of people whining.

We lowered the price of FULL kits for October delivery.  The introductory price of starter kits went up, yes.

THe price increase for October starter kits seems to be intentional.
285  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open on: July 09, 2013, 01:50:09 PM
Yep, I agree.  For the October 25 GH/s starter kit for $1850, At todays exchange rate (BTC -USD), assuming  delivery in 3 months, 1.2% Per day difficulty increase, ROI =Never

That is not even factoring in costs for Power, environment and mining pool fees ( if any).
286  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: July 09, 2013, 12:12:43 PM

Right now just on one side, U5,6,7,8 at 300MHz. I have to relocate my NOR gate hack board before I can put chips on the other bank. U8 seems to run a bit hotter than the others at 52C. Others <50C. With steamboats black heat sink and a fan the heat sink runs 37C (on that corner, barely warm to touch) in 32 ambient.

Great Job!!!!

BTW,  "32 ambient" !!!!!   LOL time for some AC.

287  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Swedish ASIC Miner - KnCMiner - New Lower Priced Entry Model on: July 08, 2013, 11:44:14 PM
Difficulty isn't going to skyrocket....with the low price and no one delivering much of anything new except usb miners it is probably going to plateau until one of these companies starts delivering in serious hashing quantities.

Not to mention that the gpu miners are all either starting to drop off to mine alt coins or are buying USB miners to replace their power hungry rigs.

I am pretty sure that there will be at least 750 Terrahash's coming online in the next month with the bit fury chips alone.  Avalon ASIC's coming online now and next month.  BFL ( LOL Maybe) and KNC MIner in September/October.  I expect difficulty to skyrocket by September and not slow down for a while.

Hi, were there any hash boards available to add to the "starter kit"?  Or just the ones that Ship in October?
289  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 3D Printed Block Erupter Coffee Cup Warmer on: July 06, 2013, 01:16:26 PM
I have a USB Block Erupter.  The heat spreader gets very hot, and it seems very close to the USB powered coffe cup warmer the Jalapeno was supposed to be.  The only missing piece is a holder for it.  It should be a very simple design, suitable for 3D printing.  Print, insert Block Erupter and connect.  Perhaps with space for a metal plate on top to protect the Block Eruptor from cofeee spills.

Unfortunately I have no experience in 3D design, no 3D printer, and very limited time.  So I'll just leave my idea here, and hope someone picks it up.  Actually, I'll donate a bitcoin to the first design I'm happy with, if it is published under a free licence!
Most of the 3D printers I have seen so far, use plastic as the print media.  I beleive it begins to melt around 190 Degrees F.  Not a good choice for a "coffee warmer" unless you don't mind it melting all over your desk.   Grin

291  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: July 05, 2013, 11:51:48 AM
That means they will start taking orders for those people who wish to supply their OWN chips and have them assembled onto a board.

292  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: July 03, 2013, 02:01:27 AM
I believe they had a few boards made and populated from Bkkcoins early designs. But, they have been silent on the matter since they said they were waiting for more parts.

Anyone order a mercury and get a day yet on their order checkup?

If you didn't order with a pre-order, you won't get an assigned shipping day. Regular orders don't get that treatment and will ship according to when the order was placed.

I don't have a pre-order  IE: I didn't have the 1-500 option on the website.  I was assigned Day 1 shipping for my Jupiters. I do however have a very low order number. I may have slipped in after the pre-orders.

294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 02, 2013, 07:27:46 PM
My problem is:

They take a lot time to read threads and post some new products.

But not a single word about the paid preorders from April and the actually queue position of all the 1-500 customers. Roll Eyes
I checked today, queue orders have been added, but it's a bit obtuse how to check. Take your order number, go to the homepage and plug it in on order tracking at the bottom, it shows then as a comment there.

Thanks for the Heads-up!

Status:Paid
Comment: This order has been scheduled for Shipping on day 1 of production

I don't mind if they mine BTC when testing my units.  Just use my payout address when they do. ;-)

I punched in some numbers for the Jupiter and depending on delivery date... scarily enough, didn't even break even on Coinish's calculator. I threw in the 10% fee to approximate hosting + pool fee:

http://imgur.com/p5YrFkY

I suspect the 1.3% difficulty increase per day may not be sustainable... Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have a question about the Coinish's calculator...   Does the Income after reduction include Break even or is it the income after you break even???  I would think ROI would be the amount you make AFTER you break even and pay off your Miner?HuhHuh  It has to be or else there is no point to buying any miners unless you can afford to get like 100 of them?Huh   Something is not adding up..

The cornish ROI calculation on Expert mode is Income over the planned time minus investment, power and pool fee's.

297  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann] US based Avalon ASIC chips and assembly: 715 remaining on: June 29, 2013, 06:56:29 PM
Interested in buying some of these. Can someone help me out. I see a June 30 deadline and 715 chips left and the wallet address shows over 5000 chips ordered. Is batch 5 still available at a June 30 deadline, or is batch 6 being ordered with a different deadline?

The June 30th deadline is for funding board assembly for those who have already purchased chips.( batch 1-5)  The group buy is still open for Batch 6 chips to be purchased.

298  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann] US based Avalon ASIC chips and assembly: 715 remaining on: June 29, 2013, 06:41:26 PM
I'd like to be in on this group buy, and I want to buy 5 assembled boards.  I've seen posts from others indicating that they have placed orders (and gotten order numbers) for assembled boards but I don't see how to do that.  I've emailed and PM'ed Steamboat with no response.  Suggestions?

Page one of this thread has all the information needed to purchase the chips and specify , chips only, DIY kit, assembled and tested board etc..
The people who are ordering assembled boards now, are the "batch 1+" chip purchasers. The ordering site is a private URL only for those who have chips in the order pipeline.

If you want to get on the next available "batch" you need to purchase chips first and then wait for your turn to get them assembled into boards if thats what you need.  I am just speculating, maybe September timeframe for those buying chips today.
299  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TerraHash Order Queue and info on: June 28, 2013, 05:06:38 PM
K-64 is simply 4x K-16 period. They even have connectors for this very purpose fitted onto the K-16 reference design.

Yes, you can "hook" the K-16 boards together in an array.  However, The developer BKKCoins himself has said that he will start work on the K64 board as soon as the K-16 is complete.    https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190731.0

300  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TerraHash Order Queue and info on: June 28, 2013, 01:39:22 PM

I was under the impression that a K64 "Board" was just 4 x 16s linked together.
Although 4 X 16 = 64  , the plan as I understand it is there also will be a single 64 board designed.  Hence the two different types of cases being offered by TH.
