Yeah, cool!
Could you punch a couple of holes through the B? I like topologically interesting money.
And if you want to make it the absolutely coolest coin in the world, generate a new bitcoin address, send 1 bitcoin to it, and then engrave that address on the coin.
Then you have physical currency that the owner can independently check to make sure the bitcoin backing it hasn't been spent.
yea, except you run into a problem of coin duplication. i can make 20 coins with the same address (which has 1 btc associated with it), and pass them all off as 1btc worth. unless there's some kind of a central registry of coins by address+owner, so that one can check that the guy who's passing him the coin is indeed the only owner of a coin with such and such address, etc... but then you lose the 'decentralized' bit.

yea, just use scientific notation... 1e-3 btc, 1e-6 btc. easy enough. or you can go for full SI prefixes milliBTC, microBTC...

running ./configure for the .5 release, i get this: configure: error: Missing required libcurl >= 7.10.1 this is on ubuntu lucid 32bit, with libcurl 7.19.7-1ubuntu1 installed. any thoughts on why it'd think 7.19.7 is not >= 7.10.1 ?

Bill Gates would no longer be in the top ten most rich people list.
that should be fine if it's a result of the owner's fault, under other circumstances, if he's a victim of a crime (theft, sabotage, etc), most people will probably think not having a lost-coin recovery mechanism is a flaw. what's your coin recovery mechanism when someone breaks into your house and steals your stash of cash and valuables? the 'stolen bitcoin' recovery mechanism is exactly the same.

i think gavin's bitcointools can already extract keys from wallet?

Simply; don't expect to trade soft money for hard. The world harbours many liars and thieves. A promise to pay from a stranger can't be trusted. Pay for cash with cash and all is well.
nice summary.

also try bitcoingateway.com, and bitcoin-otc.com but yea madhatter is reputable so if cash in the mail works for you, go for it.

yea, good point. and wow, did ebay's final value fee shoot up in the recent months/years, or what? iirc it used to be like 2 percent?

pm received and replied to.

75 percent seems really low. you can usually get upwards of 95 percent if you sell it on ebay. (then, of course, use the USD you get to buy bitcoins ).

<snip> I hope it is cleaner to you now.

The economic forum is not your financial help forum.
it is if people want to answer.

Hmm, we really don't have any Korean won to bitcoin exchange.
except bitcoin-otc. everything is possible on -otc.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am not very clear on how the semi-autonomous system works though. Once I send the cash, how is it known that the cash was sent by me? Do I need to include any reference information in the letter itself?
i suggest you send the guy an email to clarify the procedures. i never used bitcoin4cash myself...
