Thank you for the suggestion, it is something along the lines of what I was planning to do. I was looking for a way to do this without having to store 70-80 million ticket hashes every round due to the load it would put on our servers, but it doesn't seem like there is another way.

The method is pretty good, bit it still doesn't solve the problem of me cheating by creating fake accounts and tickets for them so that the hashes of these tickets fall into the positions of the winning numbers. I doubt there is any way to make the lottery 100% provably fair due to this but this is still a much better implementation that what we currently have.

I'll add this to my to-do list and should be implemented in a month I hope.

Maybe increase the price of each ticket by 10 times (to 0.00075 USD worth)? The free tickets given away in free rolls could be changed to given away by chance (e.g. if rolled lower than 2000/greater than 8000 than give 1 ticket). Assuming 100 byte per ticket data, 7M tickets would be only 700MB in size.

Or make the lottery blockchain-based: Order the tickets by some method (maybe the order of users acquired them, or by user ID), and make use of a block hash (use the last digits, the first digits is always 0) to determine the winners.

P.S. Why not make freedoge.co.in have these features too?

Its 70 to 80 mil tickets every month and one entry would be about 100 bytes so 7 GB. However, the problem is not with just storing the data - that is the simple part. Looking up ticket numbers by user id or sorting them to do the draw is what would take a huge amount of processing power so I'll need to isolate this from the main servers and set up a separate server just for doing this so that it does not impact the rest of the website.

We currently store a bet history of about 700 million bets at any time and for that I have had to set up a separate server, this would be something similar although smaller but the sorting would consume resources which is something we do not need to do with the bet history.

I don't think increasing the price would be viable at this time, it would reduce interest and also distribution for multiply and referrals would become complicated.

I have asked many times for suggestions on how I could  make the lottery more fair but have yet to receive any concrete suggestions on how it could be done. I am always open to suggestions and if someone can recommend a provably fair way to draw lottery tickets, I would be happy to implement it.

Have you ever received any suggestions? I don't want to read through hundred pages so here's my silly idea:

- let every user to enter an unique and non-changeable seed linked to their account
- at the beginning of round publicly announce 10 numbers between 1 and "expected number of tickets" ( rather much more )
- make hash for every ticket: userseed + lotteryround  + nonce (nonce to be the users ticket number)
- at the end of round put all hashes in alphabetical order (assign each a serial number) and publish the list
- the numbers given on beginning denotes the winners ( if some user would win twice then the seed next in order counts, if expected number of tickets exceeds the real count then turn over and start counting from beginning )

I'm not programmer ... just trying to apply common sense but I'm almost sure there will be some catch I didn't realize. Feel free to educate me.

Hi dear freebitco.in team, I am experiencing a strange problem. Every time I try to roll using either capcha, the screen keeps on rolling the numbers and many times it does not stop, only for me to close it. Then it shows that it's already clicked. I am using it from mobile, is this just a general error or it happens sometimes. Or it is just a bug that will be fixed soon?
Some time its happen to me also but I think its general error because its happen just some time after clicking one hour its going to be OK

Earlier I thought this one roll and it will be ok, but these days it keeps happening post every 5-6 rolls, sometimes I check I am credited, sometimes I am not I feel. Hence I wanted to get this bug to their attention so they could solve it.

Could you please pm me your browser and OS.

Can someone help me understand why arbitrage betting would not be allowed? If an operator is accepting bets at specified odds, does it really matter if the bet is a regular one or an arbitrage bet?

I did not think that the crane  FreeBitco.in will be tricked. But after two months and my IP has been locked. I did not break or anything. During this week, it was blocked twice, twice apologized and was allowed to work. On the third closed feedback. Bitcoin is growing and they become greedy. So they do only bad for Bitcoin. They look like a government that lies to their peoples.I was told that it happens. But why, when I had accumulated bitcoins and point. Let them live well.
.
Did you ask them why was/is your account blocked/locked? if you're getting blocked then why not use different faucets, there are plenty of them. locking out of your earned bits/points is bad!

We do not lock anyone out of their accounts, only block future free plays if our bot-detector thinks they are a bot. They are still able to use their account and all the money earned from previous free plays. In most cases, if there is a mistake, sending me a message does help fix it.

Only one quick question: why Freebitco.in is listed in "Gambling" section and all other faucets are in "Micro earnings"?
I see in the initial post: "The longest running bitcoin faucet!"
I'm not ironic, I just ask Smiley

It's in both sections since it offers micro earnings and gambling.

In my opinion it should be defined as a gambling site, like all the other gambling sites that offers a faucet option. Yes, it did start out as a

faucet, but these days it seems as though the major income is derived from the gambling side. { Multiplier & Lottery } You said in one of your

other posts, that you want to legitimize the site and acquire more gambling options... right?  Huh

That was something I was considering previously but abandoned it now. Although gambling brings in the money, we still give out way more free bitcoins than any other gambling faucets because unlike them, users can accumulate bitcoins for free rather than just claim when their balance is 0.

Yeah, it seems to happen to me every couple weeks. But the good thing is that wetsuit always fixes it promptly when I bring it to his attention. Annoying that it happens, thankful it's resolved quickly though.

Sorry about that, the whitelists reset when I make a change to the bot-detection tool, but your rewards should be fine now.

Hey wetsuit, any news on that touted announcement from a couple weeks back? You piqued my interest, but then there hasn't been anything since then. If no news, do you have a timeframe of when you expect you'll be ready to announce?

I got delayed with this because the plan changed after I posted about it here. I ended up increasing the scale of the project (invested close to 500 bitcoins now) so it is still on track and I hope it should be ready for users within a week.

It was the doge coin price at the time of your claim, go back an hour later , it may be up again.

Up and down all day today http://preev.com/xdg/usd

Yeah, but the table updates with the price of doge. His point is that the table shows one value, and the prize he won was a lesser value. The table and prize should both update in unison based on the current price of doge.

the table doesn't update automatically yet. The changing rewards can happen if the page is open for a while before making the claim, if the price changes within that time. The prize can go up or down. This is more noticeable with DOGE as it has much bigger price fluctuations that BTC.

So do you manually update the prize tables then? It seems to me that would be a lot of work. It always seemed to me the tables updated to reflect the current price of each, which is why I figured they updated automatically.

The update automatically, but not via websockets currently ie. if the page is open it won't show the changed amounts unless the page is reloaded.

I have a question about lottery?

How does it come no old user is winning on the lottery? no one from the 5 digit user ID in on the winning list?!?

I sometimes see a 6 digit user ID as a winner but most users that win have 7 digits ID .... so should I make a new account? or no user with 5 digit ID is still playing?

Yes, most old users are inactive. We have 3 million users but only about 100,000 active every week.

Usually a bit of patience helps especially when the network is backlogged. I can see the transaction was confirmed in 14 minutes.

295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMs, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Working-Stake, a.k.a. "Clamcoin" on: December 01, 2016, 08:20:24 AM
Is there an API that I could use to check a few hundred thousand bitcoin and dogecoin addresses to see if any have CLAMS that can be claimed?

Thanks.
you should download and sync the CLAM wallet, make sure your addresses are empty and there is a process to check all the addresses, it should be here in the thread, someone will answer with more specifical info or you could ask for help on the clam IRC #clams on freenode.
Eitherway you should start downloading the wallet and sync it as first step.

It can be as simple as placing the wallet.dat file holding the addresses in the data folder.
You can also use the file->import wallet command and browse to the wallet.
Finally, if the debug file shows some missed keys on importing that way you can try with the -salvagewallet flag.

Thanks for the help.

If I understand correctly, to claim CLAMS I only need to provide a signed message from the respective BTC or DOGE address. Is that correct?

If so, could you please tell me the command to use with the server daemon for doing this? I can automate the process for all my addresses. Basically I wanted to know if CLAMS could be claimed without revealing the private key of the respective BTC or DOGE address?
296  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: November 30, 2016, 08:09:00 AM
starting a litecoin version of the site? like... freeliteco.in

I don't think that's possible. IIRC, admin once answered that the reason why he don't own lite on his free-series is because he can't have the domain because someone had already bought it or sth like that. It can be a perfect sense if admin decide to buy it with that 5 figures, though. Lol.

Wetsuit, I wonder how could we know if the answer is correct (if someone had actually guessed right)? Will you say that that-one answered correctly right away or will you wait until the end of the given time before you announce (means keep silent and let us enjoy this guessing game even though someone had already answered correctly)?

While I am here, I think I'll go to my second guess. It'll be a mystery box! Where on every roll (or after several rolls) we can choose one from three or more box which have random content like a big amount of btc (or doge for freedoge) or extra lottery ticket or extra RP or... nothing at all.

Even if people guess it correctly, I won't reveal what it is until I am ready to launch it (seems like it will take more than a couple of weeks now due to some delays).
297  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [30+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL on: November 28, 2016, 04:21:12 PM
Does the pool have servers in different locations so that I can pick the closest one or do I just keep mining using  stratum.kano.is ?

Thanks.
There's nodes at the locations in the topic.

So any of:
de.kano.is
sg.kano.is
jp.kano.is
nl.kano.is
(US is the main stratum.kano.is)

You can use any of the 3333,443,80,81,8080 ports on the end
e.g. stratum+tcp://nl.kano.is:3333

What the nodes do is accept your shares earlier (if they are closer to you) so reduce stales, and also submit blocks locally to get them out sooner.
The shares are still accounted at the main node in Vegas, but for the time you submitted them to the node.
FWIW...personal experience...I live on Kaua'i Island, smack in the middle of the Pacific. It's 2,000 mi to the nearest node, no matter which I point to. SG and JP would seem to be at least equally "good" for our purposes, but my ping times to SG and JP are more than ten times slower than to the main node in Vegas. There are a number of reasons why, but that's just the fact of it, and so I stay with the main. Check your ping times. It's worth it.

Thanks, currently I have miners hosted in the US so the main server is fine. However I should soon have some miners in China too. I'll test all nodes before setting a primary one.

I wanted to check if payments for block 440354 have been made already?

PS: Sorry, I am new to mining and this pool.

no the block is mature but it will pay when we hit next block

these two are not paid  to be paid they must mature and when we hit a block we will pay either one  if we hit fast or both if that newer block matures faster then out next block

I wanted to check if payments for block 440354 have been made already?

PS: Sorry, I am new to mining and this pool.
Payments are (almost always) sent a couple of minutes after the block matures.
You can't send it until then anyway.

However, no one will see the payment until it's confirmed by our next block since no one else accepts large zero fee transactions - which the payout is. It's (as usual) in the work we are all mining.

440460 will added a couple of minutes after 9 blocks from now also.

Thank you for the explanation.
